There's been dragons here since long as I remember. Little Jimmy down the street got too close to a red one. Never saw him again.

This is a campaign about a world where dragons are common. Everybody is associated with dragons, whether they be riders or slayers.

CC:

4d6 drop lowest or 20 point buy.
No occult or technology classes.
15 rp or lower races.
Start at level 3.
No variant multiclassing.
No background skills.

Everybody chooses a type of dragon. You get to choose if you are a slayer or rider.
Slayers get favored enemy bonuses against their type of chosen dragon with their total level being treated as their ranger level.
Riders get an egg corresponding to the type of dragon they chose.

Stat 1: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 1) = 13 12
Stat 2: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 4) = 15 12
Stat 3: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 1) = 9 8
Stat 4: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 6, 6) = 17 15
Stat 5: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 4) = 9 8
Stat 6: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 4, 3) = 15 12

Interesting.

4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 5) = 18=17
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 2) = 16=14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 2) = 15=13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 5) = 14=13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 3) = 14=11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 4) = 19=15

Very interesting. How long are you planning for this to run? All the way up, a comparatively short-term game, something in the middle?

All the way up. That's how I run all games.

This seems neat, and I like rolling dice.

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 1) - 1 = 9
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 1, 6, 4) - 1 = 15
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 2, 1, 1) - 1 = 9
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 6) - 2 = 13
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 6) - 2 = 13
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 5) - 2 = 10

15, 14, 14, 10, 9, 9. A wonderfully lackluster 15 point-buy. I'll think on doing something with the twenty.

Dotting! This seems pretty cool.

4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 4) = 13 11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 4) = 16 15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3, 3) = 17 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 1) = 14 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 4) = 17 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 6) = 20 16

That is a very solid bracket, I think. I'll come up with something shortly.

4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 6) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 3) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 1, 6) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 1) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 4, 5) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 2) = 9

I think I'm gonna take the rolls on this one. Now to find a concept that would work with it...

4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 6) = 17 15
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 2, 4) = 10 9
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 1, 6) = 15 14
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3, 2) = 10 9
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 6, 6) = 17 16
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 4, 4) = 16 14
Hmm, with these stats, I'm thinking spellcaster.

4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 3) = 15 12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 2) = 14 12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 1) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 5) = 13 12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 6) = 18 15
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 1) = 13 11

Hmm, 14 point buy. Opt for the 20.

Since I'm rather boring by nature, I'll go human fighter. I would think slayer.

4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 5) = 13 11
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 5) = 16 14
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 1, 4) = 13 12
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 4) = 16 15
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 4, 3) = 16 13
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 3) = 18 15

I'm thinking a rider. Not sure what type yet.

If a cavalier is made at what point does the dragon become his mount?

Dotting with interest.
Just going with 20 point buy, if ok.

How many players are you accepting?
Is this Golarion, or homebrew world?
Starting wealth: 3rd?
Traits/drawback?

Thank you for running.

4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3, 5) = 14 13
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 5) = 13 12
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 2) = 14 12
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 1) = 8 7
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 3) = 18 15
4d6: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6, 5) = 19 17

Hmm... interesting rolls. Will ponder what to make...

I love dragons, got to go rider.
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 4) = 1211
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 5) = 1211
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 2) = 1412
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 1) = 1514
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 4) = 1110
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 5, 1) = 1514
14 point buy...I think I'll go with the 20 point. I'm thinking some kind of druid.

Rider sounds cool

Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 1) = 1514
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 1) = 109
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 3, 5) = 1513
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 3) = 98
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 2) = 1311
Stat: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 4) = 98

I have the stats of an average joe

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 3) - 1 = 14
4d6 - 4 ⇒ (5, 4, 6, 6) - 4 = 17
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 4, 6, 1) - 1 = 16
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (6, 2, 4, 6) - 2 = 16
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 5) - 1 = 13
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 3) - 2 = 14

Yay for dragons! Awesome, Forgedawn!

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

This looks interesting.. will roll dice and such when I'm not on my phone... Actually, as fun as this sounds, I think I'm gonna have to bow out before even rolling... my slate is kinda full and I can't really take on anything new right now.. have fun all!

How often do you have to post? I can only post 1/2 a week

The Chess: glad to see you applying for another one of my games.

The dragon becomes the cavalier's mount once it is ride-able.

4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 5, 4, 3) - 2 = 12
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 6) - 1 = 17
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 6) - 2 = 17
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (6, 4, 3, 6) - 3 = 16
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 1) - 1 = 8
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 6) - 2 = 18

I think that I'll keep the rolls!

Been playing D&D for twenty five years, and I have yet to ride a dragon. I know. Terrible!

DM Forgedawn wrote:

My pleasure! Hope I survive the other one though :) hehe

Hmmm...
I do like the idea.

I would submit a dragon rider, I think. But this is just a dot for now. How long will recruitment be open?

I'm thinking something gish-y, Magus or Alchemist probably. Or maybe Bloodrager.

If you're a rider with a class that gives you an animal companion, does your dragon egg/dragon replace that companion or is it in addition?

O I like this idea
Color my interested and building, let the dice gods speak...

4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 4) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 4, 2) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 6) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 5) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 2) = 8
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 6, 4) = 17

[17/16/16/14/9/7]
= 34 point buy, Well that's a keeper even with 7 and 9.
Race: Tiefling
Type: Dragon Rider
Dragon: Outer Dragon, Vortex [LN] [Bestiary 4]

I'm betting you'll get a lot more dragon riders than slayers applying. Therefore, I'll give a dragon slayer a shot. Which sounds really dangerous BTW for a 3rd level character, even with a mythic rank.

4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 3) = 12 : 10
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 1) = 7 : 6
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 6, 6) = 17 : 15
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 5, 6) = 20 : 16
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 5) = 13 : 12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 4) = 12 : 11

Clearly the cause of his dragon slayer-ness was pure jealousy of the luckier dragon riders with their better stats.

Born of the blood of dragons, Brynjar was raised by gold dragons, and fated to ever stand at their side. A proud paladin, the shining knight is the epitome of everything that is good - or so he believes.

Race: human
Class: level 3 paladin (shining knight)
Traits: omen, magical knack, blood of dragons (low light vision)
Drawbacks: proud

Abilities:
Strength 18+2
Dexterity 12
Constitution 17
Intelligence 16
Wisdom 8
Charsima 17

Skills:
Diplomacy 11
Handle Animal 11
Knowledge (religion) 9
Ride 7
Intimidate 12
Handle animal (?) 11

Feats:
mounted combat, power attack, furious focus

Other details to come, if and when!

Do you have a setting in mind? Any information that can serve to flesh out a background?

I'm going to go with Investigator class, I have an idea for a kind of very well traveled , knowledgeable and skill based pc. Who dose not have a bonded dragon but a business partner who is a Dragon.

I will be using this ALT as my PC,
Marchog Linli De Rezuss My idea is, he and his Dragon are a LN team, who are not Dragon slayers but bounty Hunters, tracking down the lawless and law brakes who have a bounty on them. All legal like.

Image of him doing his work here

The dragon egg replaces mounts and companions if you get one.

Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

totally getting into this one! how long until recruitment ends?

Going Cavalier possibly...
Dragon Rider Silver Dragon

Starting Gold? And can we use words of power from Ultimate Magic?

OK, assumed standard starting gold and 2 traits.

Need to know what the world is before I can do a background.

Here's the crunch though.

Not terrible. Might take it or the 20, don't normally like dump stats but I'll see what j can do.

Would you allow the 3pp class dragon Rider? And is evil (LE) allowed?

DM Forgedawn wrote:

Arr I see what you mean now, we 'start' with and egg, well that's going to be fun with Dragon slayers hunting us.

So two groups then, one hunting one hiding?

Also Mythic Paths – Paizo Inc. > Trickster

Evil isn't allowed. Riders often are good, and work with slayers to hunt evil dragons. The people I select will work together.

Also, no 3pp dragon rider.

Another good news. I was wondering if there would be pvp and I'm glad we will work together instead. Even more excited now. Character will be ready early next week.

Dot for Draconic interest, what Dragon's are we limited to? Or can we have any type of dragon? And any ruling on 3pp?

4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 5, 4) = 16 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 5) = 11 10

Oh my goodness I have the worst luck ever.

Not every day you see a 4 point buy.

DM Forgedawn wrote:

Dose that mean Riders 'have' to be good to get in, and only good dragons for riders.

My PC is lawful not good or bad, he hunts down bad Dragons as a day job.

I really want to play a kobold, it seems like it'd be really thematic here. But they're just so weak. I rolled good stats though, may give it a shot anyway.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

My wife and me are very very interested.

4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 3) = 17 14

If it wasn't for that 5....

So 20 point

Human Unchained Rogue I'm assuming no chromatic dragons. So probably silver.

I'm not even going to try that.

Str 14

Human range. Also is the Drake Warden acceptable?

No evil is the only alignment rule. You can be any other alignment, even riders.

Ru-Shi Dhampir Grenadier Alchemist. Smiting wayward dragons with a bardiche infused with alchemy. I shall make it so. PB works out to 18 Str, 10 Dex, 14 Con, 16 Int, 10 Wis, 8 Cha.

So, what kinds of dragons are allowed? Any true (Metallic, Chromatic, Primal, Imperial, Outer, Esoteric)? Or just anything with the "dragon" type?

True dragons only.

Well if I'm using a 20 point build... Hmm... I wonder what I should do... I'm gonna try a spellcaster of some kind, give me some time...

Thinking Ratfolk Alchemist... Definitely Alchemist. A Slayer, though, not a rider.

Although I feel like a witch would work too...

Ah! I will be a Drow Tattoo sorcerer! Now just to think of a good bloodline!

How, exactly, will the dragons be handled?

If they replace a class' companion, do they act as that? i.e. share spells for a familiar, animal focus for a hunter's companion, etc.? Would a summoner's dragon gain evolutions? Would a cavalier's gain all the relevant mount abilities? A paladin's gain associated Divine Bond powers?

How will advancement be handled? Will our dragon companions just age at the normal speed, (that is, they would be a wyrmling for most of our career) or will they advance some other way? Will they gain mythic tiers?

Can we customize our dragons? Like, change their feats, skills, and spells? Can we alter their ability scores any? Can they take class levels?

Is there any compensation for people who take a lower-CR dragon rather than a high one? Such as, taking a white dragon over a red dragon?

How will alignment work? Can our dragons be a different alignment as the one listed? Do our dragons have to be the same/within one step of our alignment?

Echoing the questions about traits; and will dragons get them?
