The crit game was strong with this encounter! And good thing too. This guy was definitely on the nasty side. Tons of HP and a powerful melee attack to go with it.
---
Anyway, as you see in gameplay, you guys are on the 4th level! As there may or may not be more imminent combat encounters soon, It'd be best if you can complete your level up ASAP so your stats aren't changing mid-combat. Let me know if you have any questions (though TBH leveling up is super straightforward in Starfinder).

wowwwwzers!
level 4, and I am multiclassing to mystic.
I don't know how much I'll pursue mystic, but certainly will at least do this level, and then we will see. Will take the healer path.
I just spend all evening leveling up another character, so I can't get to it tonight. Definitely tomorrow.

![]() |

I have a question, having only played a soldier and envoy in starfinder so far.
As a level 1 mystic with a wisdom of 12, in the healer path
I get 2 known spells, + mystic cure.
I get 3 spells per day + 1 bonus mystic cure.
I can spend those 3 spells however I want, right? Like I could do all 3 mystic cures plus my bonus mystic cure.
Is that all accurate?

Mostly right. A first level mystic with 12 wisdom gets 2+1 spells per day (2 base, 1 bonus from high wisdom). You can use these 3 spell slots to cast any of the spells you know. So yes, you can cast 3 mystic cures if you want, or any other combination of spells using those slots. Your slots aren't restricted by your choice of connection.
Your mystic connection grants you additional spells known, not additional spells per day. In the case of the healer connection you add the 1st level version of mystic cure to your list of spells known.
Don't forget that your connection also gets you a Healing Channel power, and that all mystics get Healing Touch as a thing they can do 1/day.

Whoa, will get on this right away and take a look at what I can do with 4th level.
Nice fight guys/gals and I love those crits you got.

![]() |

Can I cast a couple of heal spells on Arc immediately, or should we rest before we get all our level 4 abilities?

GM Cellion |

Feel free to use any new abilities from your level up right away.

Solaria Jesari |

I'm gonna take the Envoy improvisation - Inspiring Boost, which means I can signal an ally within 30 feet who has taken damage from any attack at any point after my last turn and you regain 2xMylevel + cha mod (11SPs). Once you have benefited from my inspiring boost, you can’t gain the benefits of it again until you take a 10-minute rest to recover Stamina Points.
Hoping this might keep you fighter types up a bit longer ...
Unless anyone has any better suggestions for my 4th-level envoy, but I think we've been missing this.

![]() |

Inspiring boost is the best! Great choice.
Am I right in thinking that we all gain a resolve point at level 4?

GM Cellion |

Inspiring Boost is great stuff, though it can be a bit tricky to use with its timing restrictions and inability to affect the same creature multiple times in quick succession. I've seen multiple people in Starfinder Society forget about how its restrictions work.
And yep Isu, everyone gets an extra point of resolve at 4th.

![]() |

Want to make sure my math is right, Resolve is half your level rounded down plus your Key Ability modifier (Charisma in my case). Since half my level is 2 now, plus my CHA modifier of 2, I don't gain a resolve point yet, right? For some reason I appear to have 4 already, so I wonder if I calculated it wrong in the past...

GM Cellion |

Yeah, you might've calc'd it wrong previously. If you have CHA mod of +2, you should be at 4 max RP right now.

Well, at least it's correct now! Thank you! :)
Sorry it took so long to post. I meant to log on after work but yesterday got yanked on a shopping trip by my mom, and then today had to wait around the MoA for most of the afternoon for her to get off work since my dad was driving my brother to a pair of bagpiping gigs out in the middle of nowhere!
Missed my monthly RL D&D game too. :(

GM Cellion |

Sid's level 4 sheet looks good to me! Thanks!

![]() |

Isu, I just got my digital copy of Fire Starters, the first book in the Dawn of Fire AP, and DUDE THERE'S AN ARTICLE ABOUT SARENRAE IN THERE! I know Arcalinte will have a new mantra soon:
“Shed light, act true, embody good, give charitably, shun intolerance, know patience, expose lies, and redeem evil.”
And a new favorite tea, Dawnflower Melange! It acts like a serum!
There's even some cool weapons like the blaze scimitar, a two-hander that Isu may want to consider!

![]() |

cool, what level is that scimitar?
Isu redeems evil by KILLING IT.

![]() |

The acolyte model of the Blaze Scimitar is 2nd. The next model, disciple, is 8th.
Though, upon closer examination, your hammer does more damage. The acolyte scimitar does 1d6 Fire damage.

![]() |

if people have a move action after attacking, keep edging toward the feet. we are sitting ducks out in the open.

![]() |

yeah... but is there anywhere else to get away from this flying thing?

Hey Sydney, I just noticed that your HP doesn't seem to be quite right. You might've double-counted a level when you leveled up. You should be at 4 HP for Human + 6 HP per operative level. (4+4*6)=28 HP.

GM Cellion |

:O Aww, really D: That's embarrassing! I'll get right on that
No big deal, I think I've never done HP damage to you anyway :>
You're always far away from all the melee bruiser-y enemies.

Sydney Jordan |

@Sydney: Don't forget that you get to add 1/2 your level to your damage with Small arms like that arc pistol (due to Weapon Specialization).
Oof. Then I need to pick one more feat for Sydney then because I got Weapon Specialization from the Operative class.

![]() |

That penalty coupled with still being entangled probably makes that a miss.
Everyone else, PLEASE make good rolls so we can kill this nasty animal!

GM Cellion |

Good question! Since she was in no shape to fight, I assumed she would not head to the statue with the rest of you. She's probably still outside this clearing.

Arcalinte Soter wrote:(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧That's adorable lol ❤️
I saw an opportunity to display Arcalinte's bishonen beauty, and I took it. :P

![]() |

Also, Arcalinte is totally going to take pictures of the inscriptions and constellations with his comm unit and visit a tattoo parlor when we get back to Qabarat!
Weird question, I'm trying to come up with a name for Arcalinte's cousin, and I thought something simple like "John" would be best, and wondered if just taking that and tweaking a few letters to "Starfinder-ize" it would work.
Does "Jahn" seem like a good name for an Akiton human, or does it sound to much like something an upper-middle-class white woman would name their bratty son to make him seem more "unique?"

![]() |

I also finally wrote up Arcalinte's physcial description, so I can finally provide a clear picture of what he looks like. What do you folks think? Anything I should tweak or improve?
Arcalinte is a half-elf man of slightly above-average height, with a lean, strong build. His skin has a rich coppery tone, coming from his Akitonian heritage and regular exposure to sunlight that he undertakes as a Sarenite. He has black, curly hair that he likes to keep long, but keeps his facial hair short, though he has been experimenting with styling it in different ways, still trying to decide how he wants his beard to look. His facial features have a pleasing elven angularity, and his eyes are a startling indigo blue, but when he activates his solarian powers, they shine with a bright golden light. A small mote of golden light orbits his head like a small sun.
Arcalinte dresses in armored robes, with the emblem of the Order of the Empty Orbit emblazoned on his chest: a curling sun symbol surrounded by a series of eleven rings representing the orbits of the Pact Worlds with a noticeable gap between the second and third ring to represent lost Golarion, the rings also having small circles to represent the planets themselves. He prefers kasathan-styled armors, thanks to his long time immersed in their culture during his solarian training, and when he dons his solar armor, he grabs his mote and pulls it onto his head like a helmet, which then becomes a bright nimbus around his head and forming golden plates over his existing armor, culminating in a pair of stylized, circular "wings" emerging from his back and framing his head and making him appear very much like an avenging angel.

@Arc: Jahn does sound a little silly by today's standards, but hey, its the sci-fantasy far future, who's to say that people don't consider that the height of sophistication? I mean, we have people with all sorts of crazy names in the Adventure Paths and Starfinder Society scenarios already.
Also, I think that description is great! Really sells the handsome pretty boy aesthetic :>

Thank you!
I was kind of inspired by Star Wars-y names like Han Solo and Jan Tosh (a former owner of R2-D2 and C-3P0 in the Droids animated series). I figured names like that'd be common on Akiton, to contrast with Arcalinte's sophisticated elf-y name.

Solaria Jesari |

I like the name, reminds me of Firefly names, and Akiton could easily have been a planet in that series too.
Cool description too.

Hey Cellion,
Really basic question, but do healing spells cure stamina too, or just HP? I don't think I've actually played a game with a mystic before! Here or starfinder society.

GM Cellion |

Guys, I really enjoy this game. Big thanks to Cellion for picking up the GM role and y'all for posting. <3 .w. Hugs and love all around
D'aww, thanks Sydney! Yeah this one is great and going strong. Not all PbPs are able to keep rolling as availability problems and personal conflicts come up.
Really basic question, but do healing spells cure stamina too, or just HP? I don't think I've actually played a game with a mystic before! Here or starfinder society.
Healing spells only cure HP. Makes them great in tough fights but not that useful when everything is going fairly well. Thankfully we have Solaria's inspiring boost here to help keep SP high.

![]() |

Yeah, I'm also grateful to Cellion for taking this over and doing such a phenomenal job.
The GM he took this over from disappeared from another game I was in, so that would have been our fate here, too.

![]() |

ooooo, nice nice Arc :O So are solarians like paladins? What's the closest Pathfinder analogy?
Not exactly? The closest analogy I can come up with is Monks, since their Stellar Attunement points kinda work like ki, points spent to activate powers, but rather than a set amount you can burn each day, you build them up each time you're in combat. Maybe Kineticists would be a better comparison, but I've always struggled to understand how they function in actual play...
ANY class can be like a Paladin in Starfinder with the Divine Chanpion archetype, specifically by taking Healer when it grants you access to a mystic connection's spells, though you actually aren't restricted to being LG. Arcalinte was created before that archetype came out, otherwise I'd have made him one, and I'm less inclined to use a mnemonic editor to change that now that Isu has multiclassed into Mystic with the Healer connection. *shrug*
Arcalinte's angelic look to his armor is more his personal preference than any actual holiness on his part. Other solarians might have armor that looks like a cloak made of mini-stars or an aura of light that makes them look like they're going Super Saiyan!

Weird question: anyone here played any of the following games...
Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth
Endless Space 2
Stellaris
And if so, which would you recommend? Playing this game with you guys has given me the itch to get my Space Opera on in a game that ISN'T Mass Effect or Warhammer 40K.
