I love that we've got two quixotic fools, two hard-bitten cynics and one somewhere in-between in this game. The character dynamics have been DELIGHTFUL so far!

GM Snowheart |

I've created a Google Slides page and started adding images of the characters you're encountering. Link should be at the top of the page.

On Spectre, I think I'm just going to go with thinking of him as a 'droid' rather than an 'android'. I think that's the feel you're going for, anyway, and I don't think really breaks anything in terms of game mechanics.

Yeah, I have definitely envisioned him more as a droid that has gained autonomy over time by never being reprogrammed. I had also read that there are varying degrees of "android," with some being constructed more like robots or looking more like robots.
So yes, I'm fine with you thinking of him more like a droid with the android race's characteristics.

FYI, Burlap’s player is MIA in another game I have right now (only know for sure because we’re in combat). Hopefully all is okay (or it’s just the site being glitchy) but don’t wait on posts from him for now.

GM Snowheart |

Understood! I worked front desk 3-11pm in college. Hope you like the place and have a decent team/manager/boss.

GM Snowheart |

None. Not in my other game either. Let me think about it.
Also, I meant to post an update this morning but woke up with such bad congestion I was dizzy and nauseous.
Also, happy Thanksgiving to those who observe it.

GM Snowheart |

I've dropped Burlap/Stormraven a note. I'm going to wait until Nov. 30 before offering his seat to another player. In the meantime, I realize with a small group the loss of a single PC can create quite the pinch in RP and an absence of skills in combat. I'll try to accommodate and help a little more with pushing narratives and adjusting combat difficulty accordingly.

Just as a heads up, I'll be travelling for the next week (starting from today), coming back the following Sunday. I should have internet everywhere I go, but I may have less of a chance to respond+post.
Please feel free to bot me if you need it. Thanks!
Also, thanks for the adjustments Snow! Though going from 6 to 5 members is nowhere near as critical as going 4 to 3 or something like that.

GM Snowheart |

Sorry all. Was sick all weekend and had a 12 hour marathon at work today. Tomorrow should be back to normal.

Eekz Half-ear |

no problems... thanks for letting us know. hope you are feeling better.

GM Snowheart |

Do it!
Also... Apologies in advance for any erratic posting. Work has been insane the last week and will likely continue through the holidays. By the time I get home at night, I still have more work to do and then just want to go to bed.

Grix Krizvit |

What do you have to lose Arc? Also I'm half expecting the two club ladies to ask for those daiquiris now that you've given Snow the idea.
@Snow: No worries, we'll just fill any idle time with poorly considered RP. :>

Eekz Half-ear |

sorry if I'm slow posting the last few days and the next few as well... We are suffering from high winds and surrounded by fires in all directions. Constant power outages from the winds and service outages from both power problems and the fires are playing hell with my connection. I will post as I can, but please bot me if necessary.. thanks.

Is my roleplaying doing okay? Part of me wonders if I'm not getting deep enough into Arcalinte's character...I was trying to be kinda like prequel-era Obi-Wan, by-the-book spiritually but occasionally willing to indulge in mischief once in a while, but I feel like I've been terse and much more willing to bend the rules than I initially planned.

GM Snowheart |

Arc, a-okay by me.
Also, I don't know how y'all feel, but my personal thought is the opening of this adventure is quite a bit RP heavy but also providing relatively few hooks for PCs to sink their teeth into (mixing metaphors but whatever). So, if things are feeling a little dull or slow, I apologize but hope you'll trust me it picks up soon.
Now, the other thing, at the risk of metagaming, I'm going to drop this into a spoiler, but it's a bit of a warning about what's coming next...

Grix Krizvit |

Your roleplay is totally fine Arc. I think Arc bending the rules more is for the best as the rest of the party is fairly chaotic! Feel free to shout us down if we get out of line. My advice is for you to just go for more posting! The more you post, the more everyone posts, the more fun hijinks we can get up to.
@Snow: I don't mind RP heavy portions, though I can agree that it feels like my metaphorical teeth are looking for purchase on this metaphorical sandwich of an adventure.
I'm also just falling into the trap of being overcautious in RP situations due to perceived danger. I play Bashiel this way in the other game and need to break out of the habit here. Grix is supposed to be a bit of a 'Besmara take the wheel', 'time to roll the dice' type anyway. My priority right now is to get through this bit so we can reunite the party and proceed onwards (wherever the info we get here takes us).
Not reading the spoiler BTW.

Hey all. My apologies. I came down with food poisoning Friday night. That on top of work had me knocked out a bit. This next week may be a bit rough for me due to work, but I will try to keep updates coming.

Oh, not to worry! I was knocked out a bit myself. I'm just relieved I wasn't keeping you waiting.

Hey all,
Merry Christmas! I'll be pretty busy the next few days, and then I am traveling to California with the family the week after Christmas. I'll be pretty slow through New Year's.
Hope everyone has a great holiday.

Eekz Half-ear |

Sorry for my absence the last few week or so... Holidays and guests and family stuff, and seasonal depression have taken their toll... will be slowly catching up on all my games today...

GM Snowheart |

No worries, Eekz. Holidays and entertaining plus work have wreaked havoc with my own schedule. Pretty normal around this time of year I think.

![]() |

Unexpected circumstances have rendered me internet-less until our new modem arrives sometime in the upcoming week. I apologize for the inconvenience. :(

GM Snowheart |

Switching the OOC discussion from Gameplay to here.
Eekz, I think for the folks on the inside, the map is accurate as to how I understood what y'all were doing. I understood all three of you had gone in to meet with WhatsHerName. You said you wanted to disarm, so I adjusted you to be next to the door with the King waiting in the other room (i.e., you reached through the open doorway to disarm him).
Outside, the problem was because of the smoke grenade, I had moved the Kings' tokens to the GM layer -- they were visible to me, but not you. I adjusted the visibility of the one closest to Spectre.
Let me know if I missed anything.

Eekz Half-ear |

sorry for my absence... back injury had me laid up in bed for almost 2 weeks... I am back now...

Grix Krizvit |

Looks like Eekz/JAF0 is being kept away from his PbPs. :< Hope that doesn't mean there was some kind of complication with that back injury.
Dead Suns loot log is up. In terms of credits and UPBs, we actually only picked up a total of 1100 creds and 500 UPBs from Ferani's hideout. Splitting that across 5 characters means each person gets 220 creds and 100 UPBs. Despite seeming like a lot at first glance, it looks a bit disappointing next to the prices of things.
As for other gear, there's some good stuff to claim. Feel free to put your name next to anything you want (in the Claimant column). I figure for this campaign we'll use the 'who can use it best' method of distributing loot. If something is useless for everyone, we can sell it for some paltry credits and then split those evenly.
@Snow: Eekz took Ferani's pistol during the fight. What kind of pistol was it? Also, feel free to add this to the links above.

Grix Krizvit |

The Patriots were at your hotel? Wow. That must have been pretty insane :>
BTW, moving the weapon discussion from the gameplay thread: there actually isn't almost any difference in damage between 1 and 2 handed weapons in Starfinder. Sometimes 1 handed weapons are even AHEAD of 2 handed ones. For example: no melee weapon, 1 handed or 2 handed, available at first level deals more than 1d8 damage without having the unwieldy property.
The carbon steel curve blade sneaks ahead at 4th level (4th item level that is) by 1 point of damage on average, but by 7th item level we have the sintered longsword and wrack devastation blade exactly tied again. It follows like that all the way to max level more or less.
Plus since power attack doesn't exist and two-handing weapons no longer gives 1.5x STR to damage, one handing vs. two handing is either a pure visual choice or you're looking a particular critical property.

Not really. Football teams tend to be very well-behaved guests. It's when you have large groups of people who DON'T travel a lot staying with you that the problems arise, since they're the people who forget stuff like toothbrushes and shaving razors, and they tend to call asking for those right when they wake up, before our housekeeping team has even arrived at work, and they're more likely to forget things when they leave, which then starts the Lost-and-Found snipe hunt. I was more worried about the hotel on the opposite end of the Mall of America. THEY had the Eagles!
Should I just use longswords instead, then? I wasn't sure because then I might feel tempted to go plasma sword, and aren't those kind of useless when I can make my weapon be on fire?

Grix Krizvit |

I was thinking less the team and more the fans showing up and/or causing trouble. :>
Up to you. The energy weapons trade off some damage, but are a bit more accurate since they attack vs. EAC. From a cool imagery standpoint plasma swords are hard to beat though. Plus they do both fire and electric damage, so they're not totally redundant with you being able to make your weapon fiery.

GM Snowheart |

The hotel I worked at was in a college town and the large groups we had stay with us tended to be high school teams visiting for events or matches at the college. Perhaps surprisingly, the kids were usually fine. It was the parents who got drunk in their rooms that were the problem and I had to call the police on a couple of times.
Ah, fun times...

Grix Krizvit |

@Snow: Can you link the Loot Log I posted above in the campaign info up top? Here's the post I put the link in
Also, wow have the forums been terrible the last couple of days. Down all yesterday :<

GM Snowheart |

Hope to have an update for you today. We had a minor medical emergency in the house yesterday and I’ve got a project start today, but am hoping for some downtime in a little bit.

GM Snowheart |

So, yeah, this is done. On a completely timely schedule. *coughcough* (Sorry for the delay. Kept getting distracted.)

GM Snowheart |

So, I think we've more or less lost Eekz/JAF0. That brings us down to four players. If you like, I'm happy to recruit 1 or 2 additional players. Let me know if you'd like me to and, if so, your preference for how many and if there's a particular role you'd like to see them fill.

![]() |

Did my friend ever reach out to you? I know she'd had a long absence on the forum I normally see her on due to school work, but she should be back now.
