Hello, and welcome to Sandpoint! We're ramping up for the Swallowtail Festival and we want you to join the fun!

I've got the itch to run this one and I've read the AP through about 4 times since I got it. I really am look forward to the second chapter >:D.

Anyway, I know that I'm probably going to get flooded with applications, I'm keeping recruitment open until this Friday (2013-07-26). I'll be making a decision later that evening and the game should be going the Monday after. I'll be picking 4 or 5 players, and I value good characters over party balance, so submit what you want.

So, what am I looking for? Well, from the players, I'd like people who are okay with lots of roleplay, and maybe not so much combat. I'd also like to have a post a day, especially in combat. As for characters, well, take a look below.

Character Requirements
-No 3rd Party stuff.
-Level 1
-Max Starting Gold
-Any class but Gunslinger and summoner. Ninja and Samurai better have a
reason for being in Avistan instead of Tian Xia.
-No firearms (Or archetypes that use them.)
-All races from the ARG are allowed, but beware overly odd options as NPCs will act accordingly.
-Roll 4d6 six times for stats, drop the lowest die. Anything below a 6 can be re-rolled. If you have less than a 15-point buy re-roll all of your stats.
-3 traits (2 traits + 1 trait from the RotRL Player's Guide.)
-No Evil alignments
-A backstory
-What your character looks like
-What your character's personality is

A note on Paladins and LG characters in general: You are more than welcome to play a Paladin, but I need you to PM me so we can discuss what your paladin's code is and how they follow it. I'm hoping to avoid any grief, so this isn't meant to discourage anyone from playing a paladin.

If you have a question, don't hesitate to ask. In that vein, don't worry about applying if this is your first PBP or game of Pathfinder. Experience, or inexperience, is not going to help or hurt your chances.

That said, I look forward to what you come up with.

Sczarni

I was wanting to run a paladin, I sent you a PM as per your request.

I made this character (CG human bard) for another RotRL game that he didn't get into. If he's suitable, I'll reroll his stats and adjust his gold.

Hmm; DM, I'm currently running another ROTR game, and we're about half-way through chapter 1. Would you like a co-GM to help out?

I would be interested in playing either a rogue or a sorcerer.

@ Jack: I just replied. Hopefully I haven't confused the heck out of you.

@ Horatio: I'll look over it tomorrow, either at lunch or tomorrow night. In the meantime, go ahead and roll some bones.

@ GM Arkwright: I'd love to have someone make sure that I haven't royally messed up. I assume you'd be playing as well.

Sczarni

All is well. I hope I haven't confused you back.

Dot for interest. I'll probably roll with a ranger, that's usually my go to.

*Edit: Just as a word of caution, this will be my first pbp. So I may be a bit slow on getting my character up right away. I've played PF for a couple years now and have done other forum based rpgs too. Ijust want to get a little more in when I'm not doing the other stuff XD

I think I can roll some stats at least.

4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 3) = 13 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 3) = 17 = 15
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 5) = 13 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 6) = 21 = 17
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 6, 6) = 15 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 5) = 17 = 16

looks like an awesome set of rolls

Let see what the dice-gods give me

4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 4) = 13 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 1) = 11 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 4) = 16 = 13

4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 6, 1) = 14 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 4, 2) = 14 = 12

Looking at a Cleric / Ranger aiming at Skyseeker PrC at the moment.

Liberty's Edge

Some rolls while I wait (I'm Jack's paladin)

4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 2) = 11 = 10

4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 2) = 9 = 8

4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 1) = 7 = 6

4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 3) = 11 = 10

4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 5) = 14 = 12

4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 3, 3) = 16 = 13

4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 2) = 14 = 12

4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 5) = 14 = 13

12 point buy. Oh my again.

4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 5) = 17 = 16

4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 3, 3) = 14 = 12

4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 6, 6) = 19 = 16

4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 2) = 14 = 12

4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 2) = 16 = 14

29 point buy. Sounds good to me.

4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 4) = 17 = 15
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 4) = 11 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 2, 2) = 8 = 7

4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 4, 4) = 16 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 2, 6) = 16 = 14

13-point buy. Let's try again.

4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 6) = 13 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 5) = 14 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 4, 1) = 12 = 11

4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 6, 1) = 11 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 6) = 15 = 13

16 points... well... I guess I can work with that. *sigh*

@DM- Heh I actually wasn't planning on playing if you wouldn't mind, just helping out behind the scenes.

hello.

here is my character all is in the profile

4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 1, 3) = 14 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 4) = 20 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 6) = 17 = 15
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 1) = 17 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5, 3) = 11 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 6) = 21 = 16
40 point buy, I've seen worse :)

Probably going with a rogue (Knife Master/Scout).
Not the most optimized class but I like the flavor.

Liberty's Edge

Alright, I have everything but history in my profile. Working on it now. If my code needs to be adjusted, I will adjust my backstory appropriately.

Man, I think the dice gods hate me or something! *Stares enviously at people's high point-buy rolls*

4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 1) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 4) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 4) = 19
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 3) = 21
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 1) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 6) = 23

Wow! So that leaves me with 13, 14, 15, 18, 13, 18. I will happily work with a 52 point buy.

Liberty's Edge

Okay, basic history thrown together. Also, Shadowyfox, your luck with that dice roller is nuts. I'm guessing you've sold your soul to the dice gods. Ha.

Nope, Victoria. Nice ninja edit there. I've just had horrible luck with dice rolls recently, so it's time that the dice roller played nice. ;P

Liberty's Edge

Yep, Jack is my default. I forget sometimes. Well I'm happy with my 29 point buy, so you'll hear no complaints from me. Rogues are supposed to be jacks of all trades and all that.

Your talking to the wrong masked guy. I am the rogue.

Liberty's Edge

Op. Doppelgangers. Foiled again.

Now I must truly decide what to play with such an ungodly set of rolls. :)

Liberty's Edge

If it were me (just saying) I'd probably play a monk. They always require enough stats to spread you thin, but you could just have 20 AC or something with those rolls.

Well, two 18s makes any class look attractive.

That could definitely be fun. I've never played a monk before. :)

After a bit more thought I'm going to respectfully withdraw out of the running... I've got enough going on right now :)

I wonder, since Mark is dropping out, whether it'd be more useful to the group to go for a melee monk or a zen archer monk.

Her is Kuro, a street rat with a pension for you not noticing all twelve of his knives. Make a DC 36 perception check. :)

Personality/Physical Description:
Kuro is a tall wiry man standing about 6'1'' and weighing just under 160 pounds. He wears an old black vest over slightly worn nondescript gray clothes with a deep cowl and a heavy scarf to cover his face and neck when necessary. He has dark brown eyes and short blonde hair. The only flaw to his other wise almost boyish face is a long scar from his right ear to the corner of his mouth.

Kuro comes across as a well mannered if soft spoken young man. When he becomes closer with a person he tends to open up more and show his more radical immature street rat side. Then when someone gets to know him really well they start to see the darker parts as well. Kuro isn't a cold hearted killer or a thug but he grew up on the street and it shows in his personality. It would however be lying to say he doesn't ever seem to enjoy hurting people.

Backround:
I will flesh this out more if I get excepted.
Kuro was sent to sandpoint as a young boy to live his uncle, a merchant by trade. It turned out however that his uncle led a second "night life". when he turned eight his uncle started teaching him simple tricks like pickpocketing a wallet, picking a lock, and of course concealing a weapon. As he got older his lessons became more about combat and evading the guards. when he was fifteen Kuro's uncle disappeared without a trace and was never heard from again. Kuro desperately searched for help from some of his uncles "friends". No one knew what had happened so Kuro began his life as a real street rat. Now as an older denizen of the slums Kuro has earned more of a reputation with local "riffraff" as well as building up friendships with people of a higher standing like guards, lesser noble's children, shopkeeper, etc.

Ha! That reminds me of a certain claptrap I rolled for... 81pb, I kid you not...
It was ment to be higher powered than this (5d6 7 times, drop lowest 2 and lowest set) but I rolled 50% 6s
I had 18, 18, 18, 18, 16, 13 for stats...
Enough bragging... time to roll for this one!
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 3) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 3, 1) = 14 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 3) = 12 10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 6) = 15 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 3) = 14 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 6) = 16 15
Lol. 19pb.
Not great, highest is a +2 modifier and almost all odd numbers... Hmmm... What could I build with that...

You know, seeing what we have...It looks like:

kukri-loving rogue
bard
brutal pugilist/drunken brute barbarian
paladin

which leads me to think I'm gonna go for a switch-hitting sort of ranger. ;) Can't let you melee folks have all the fun.

I'm wondering if I can talk the GM into letting me get one of you high-rollers to do my stats for me. :P

The dice gods don't want you to know but the masks are actually magical totems that enhance our dice rolling ability. :)

Just to make sure, I looked in the RotRl player's guide and didn't see the traits. Would these be them? Never played that one before, so I have a lot of work to do in coming up with something good.

Edit: Never mind...I downloaded the old guide. Oops?

Edit: Edit: Yes, Billy, but sometimes they drain all the good dice mojo away to save up for the big rolls.

Several ideas floating about. While I ponder options let's roll some stats:
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6, 4) = 16 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 5, 2) = 12 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 2) = 14 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5, 4) = 12 11
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 1) = 9 8
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 4, 5) = 15 14

== 13pt buy == rerolling...

4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 3, 6) = 17 15
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 1, 3) = 6 5 (rerolling this one)
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 2, 4) = 11 9
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 3) = 19 16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 5, 2) = 12 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 6, 2) = 13 11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 3) = 17 15

Well that's better!

More details tomorrow.

EDIT: One question for now. Does the Order of the Paw exist in Varisia?

@DM-Salsa do you have a minimum number of posts per day policy?

I have a really cool idea for a Gnome Oracle (Life Mystery). I'll create an alias soon and post the highlights when I do! In The meantime, I may as well do my rolls.

Stat Rolls Attempt 1:
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 2, 3) = 9=8
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 4) = 17=13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 6) = 12=11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 4, 1) = 13=12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 1) = 9=8
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 5) = 10=9

Aaaaaaand that ladies and gents, is a 1 pt buy. Rerolling

Stat Rolls Attempt 2:
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 2) = 12=10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 5) = 14=12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 6) = 17=16
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 4) = 16=13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 3) = 13=12
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 1, 1) = 4=3 rerolling
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 1, 1) = 7=6

11 pt buy. Rerolling

Stat Rolls Attempt 3:
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 2) = 12=11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 3) = 16=13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 4) = 16=15
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 1) = 17=16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 4) = 13=11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 2) = 17=15

29 pt buy. Much better!

Definitely interested. I wanna see if I get a stat roll out that'll let me use Creepy Terry or Umodo. Here goes.

4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6, 5) = 17 15
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 1, 5) = 15 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 3) = 14 13
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 5) = 22 17
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 1) = 10 9
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 1, 4) = 13 12

Oooo I likey. Those r some impressive numbers. I'll toy with three ideas and have them ready for tomorrow.

Your input would be nice DM. I have the following:

Terry the Fighter(Cad Archetype) Chaotic Good
Akisame the Monk (Maneuver master archetype) Lawful Good
And Umodo the Druid (Saurian Archetype with a pet Velociraptor) True Neutral.

All of those are human and if any are of issue let me know, it will help make my final decision easier.

I'm quite interested - I'll roll up some stats to see if they provide a spark of inspiration for a character.

4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 2) = 13 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 2) = 10 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 2) = 19 = 17
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 4) = 14 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 6) = 16 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 2) = 15 =13

Interesting. A 24-point buy, with a lot of odds. I'm thinking a wizard, or perhaps a cleric.

I'll put something together and post later.

Very interested, been meaning to getinto a RotRL game for some time, didn't quite make the mark last time.

4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 5) = 19 = 17
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 1) = 18 = 17
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 4, 5) = 16 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 3, 5) = 16 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 6) = 16 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 1) = 9 = 8

That's good, I can work with this. Do you want us to have a Perform/Profession skill as well from the start?

Also is Outlander: (Lore Seeker) trait allowed?

Let's See:

#1
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 4) = 13 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 2) = 13 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 4, 3) = 14 = 13

4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 1) = 14 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6, 5) = 15 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 4, 4) = 14 = 13

Equals 14 PB. Too many 13s for my tastes.

#2
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 1) = 11 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 3) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 3) = 17 = 14

4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 4) = 13 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 1) = 10 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 3) = 14 = 13

Equals 9 Point Buy. Blah!

#3
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 5) = 14 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 2, 2) = 9 = 7
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 2) = 10 = 9

4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 3, 2) = 12 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 5) = 11 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 2, 6) = 14 = 13

I think the dice roller hates me.

#4
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 4, 1) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 1, 2) = 13 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 2) = 11 = 9

4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 1) = 7 = 6 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 1) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 4, 3) = 15 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 3) = 12 = 12

5 Point Buy with a reroll for the 6. No thank you.

#5 (Last One)
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 5) = 18 = 17
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 4) = 12 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6, 6) = 16 = 14

4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 6) = 15 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 1) = 9 = 8
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 4) = 12 = 11

20 Point buy, but with a wide disparity. I'm going to have to think on this for a second.

Liberty's Edge

@ Shadowyfox

Just so you're aware, I've rolled up a ranged paladin. You can still go ranger and all that fun stuff. Just filling you in.

After all, bows are where the party is.

whats a bow?

4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 1, 6) = 16 15
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 2) = 7 6
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 6) = 13 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 2) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 6) = 20 17
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 4) = 16 13

Any chance you'd allow a re-roll of that 6? I have no interest in playing a character with such a handicap.

4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 4) = 18 that would be a 14

I'm thinking a wizard, although we'll see after the stats.

4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 5) = 23 = 18
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 1) = 11 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 1) = 15 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 2) = 18 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 3) = 14 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 3) = 13 = 12

A 35 point build. Not too shabby. :D

I'll have a wizard put together by tonight.

4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 2) = 18 -2 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 3, 4) = 17 -3 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 1) = 11 -1 = 10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 5) = 15 -1 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 5) = 15 -2 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 4, 5) = 20 -4 = 16

I think I can work with that....

Since there seems to be little interest in a cleric, I'll try one of those. Every party needs a cleric. :)

Taffer

Added in my ability scores.
Traits and equipment check will come later.

Hopefully the party is up for a tripping sorcerer.

4d6 - 3 ⇒ (4, 5, 4, 3) - 3 = 13
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (4, 6, 3, 1) - 1 = 13
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 4, 1, 5) - 1 = 15
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 6) - 1 = 11
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 6, 3, 6) - 1 = 15
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 6) - 2 = 12

23 point build. That'll work.

rolling stats:
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 6) = 18 17
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 4) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 1) = 14 13
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 2) = 19 17
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 3) = 14 12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 5) = 17 14

Working on character now.
