Okay I know I said Friday, but I think I'm going to have to close recruitment soon if I want to get through these and be able to get some sleep. Really good stuff. So here's the revised schedule:

5 and a half hours from now: No new submissions will be considered, if you have posted a character you can make changes up to the deadline Friday

Friday 1800 CST (UTC -5 I think): All characters need to be close to final. I'll be allowing minor changes, but no switching traits, classes, stuff like that.

Monday: Game starts.

Any questions?

Nope. Sounds good. :-)

I'm having some trouble nailing down which traits are campaign for RotRL. I found a couple different sources and options. For instance, the list on d20pfsrd is not the same as the list in the handbook I downloaded. Which do you want us to use?

Sounds good to me.

I'm still figuring whether I want to keep daze as a cantrip or not. I'm planning on getting the Enchantment school Varisian Tattoo feat at some point, and that gives me it as a spell-like ability… *Mutters*

Liberty's Edge

Sounds good to me. The most I've been doing of late is adjusting inventory and adding fluff, not changing any fluff or mechanics.

Considering how little I actually know about this AP, I forgot to consider ethnicity. A little research leads me to think Chelaxian is the best fit.

A Chelaxian paladin who is against tyranny... Oh, sweet irony. >_>

Liberty's Edge

It makes an odd amount of sense, to be honest. I would have been born to two Chelaxian clerics in a monastery, likely there to avoid the Asmodeus worshipers (as Erastil worshipers themselves). The fact that her 'people' are so corrupt would only drive her to destroy tyranny that much harder. I like.

sounds good to me as well.

hey Victoria sent ya a PM with the picture I had in mind. you can copy and use that if you want also.

Anyone know a good picture for Kuro?

updated Noro's stats with the house rules.

@Kuros I will look in my picture archive, I have almost 300 GB worth of character pictures.

Okay, DM-Salsa, I’ve semi-finalised my character concept. I hope you’re looking for a PC from out-of-town whose design decisions are concept-driven; I think I’ve got the maths right without min-maxing things....

TRAITS:
Chosen of Iomedae (Faith): At your birth, your parents dedicated your soul to Iomedae to mold into a sword of her light. The goddess blessed you, granting you a gift of light to brighten your path through darkness and a fine sword with which to spread her will. You may cast light once per day as a spell-like ability (caster level 1st), and you begin play with a masterwork longsword. In addition, whenever light is cast upon this sword, the radius of light and its duration is doubled. (Champions of Purity)
Ever Wary (Race): Constant fear that your fiendish nature might provoke a sudden attack ensures that you never completely let down your guard. During the surprise round and before your first action in combat, you can apply half your Dexterity bonus (if any) to your AC. You still count as flat-footed for the purposes of attacks and effects. (Blood of Fiends)
Scholar of the Ancients (Campaign): Growing up with your nose in books, you’ve had a great interest in past cultures and ancient history. Furthermore, having grown up in Varisia, you know the monuments dotting the landscape belong to an ancient civilization known as Thassilon. From your life of study and dogged research, you’ve pieced together the language and partial history of this once-great empire. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge (arcana) and Knowledge (history) checks, and begin play able to speak and read Thassilonian. (RotR:AE Player’s Guide)

BIOGRAPHY AND DESCRIPTION:

Abandoned to the graces of the Dorjanala (Westcrown’s Temple of Iomedae) scarce hours after her birth, Pavanna would have liked to believe that it was because her parents were too poor to provide for her and hoped to see her have a better life... but she’s long since accepted that in all likelihood, her mother was a member of the Wiscrani nobility who didn’t want the family reputation tainted by ‘fiendish blood’.
Adopted by Quinta Alazario, a half-elven paladin of the Inheritor, Pavanna spent most of her youth within the walls of the Dorjanala. A cheerful, quiet, studious lass, she was quite content to spend most of her days reading of far-off lands or joining the temple’s warriors in their daily routines, rather than explore the city. Certainly encounters with native-born humans during trips outside the temple quickly taught her to dread such excursions, for she almost never escaped some form of verbal violence over her status as a ‘hellspawn’, and on several occasions the bullies attacked her with fists and feet, as well as words. One of her most abiding memories of her childhood is being thrown into a canal by a trio of ‘highborn’ boys hoping to ‘wash some of the devilborn stink off her’, and it was only through the good graces of a Condottari patrol that she escaped drowning.
Through these incidents, and the gentle, patient teaching of her mother, Pavanna learned alertness, an abiding hatred of bullies and tyrants, and a fierce determination to stand up for those who could not defend themselves. Though she is of a more scholarly bent than many of the Inheritor’s faithful, she cleaves to their paladin’s code with a ferocity some might call frightening.
Several years ago, Quinta was ‘encouraged’ to join the Temple of Iomedae in Magnimar and take her foster-daughter with her. (Though her mother has not confided in her the real reason for this relocation so far across Avistan, Pavanna suspects that it had something to do with certain topics the Thrice-Damned House of Thrune may not wish discussed.) Nonetheless, she was delighted to have a closer look at monuments and relics of the lost civilisation of Thassilon, tales of which had fascinated her even when she was a girl, and she set to studying them with a will. Moreover, the relative acceptance she received from natives of the Varisian city, compared to the contempt and constant harassment she endured in Westcrown, quickly endeared the city to her... though she quickly learned to be cautious when dealing with native Varisians, as not all of their infamy is undeserved. In the time since her arrival, she’s actually taught herself a working knowledge of the fallen empire’s dead language and, with her study of Magnimar’s ruins and relics essentially exhausted for the moment, she’s taking advantage of a request from Quinta to further her own explorations. The Swallowtail Festival and the consecration of the new cathedral in Sandpoint are mere days away, and while it does not hold a shrine to Iomedae, Quinta Alazario asked her daughter to represent the Inheritor’s Magnimaran temple to Father Abstalar Zantus as a gesture of goodwill. She also knew full well that her daughter would take the chance to speak with Brodert Quink, a local expert on matters Thassilonian who holds some odd theories, as well as poke around ruins like the Old Light.

Pavanna is of average height (5’ 5”) and has a lean physique (130lb) toned by years of practicing sword-arts and other drills with fellow faithful of the Inheritor. Graced with straight black hair and an olive Chelish complection, the marks of her otherworldly origins are most visible in her blood-red eyes (which almost seem to glow in dim light), her notched, goat-like ears, and the matching two-inch goat-like horns sprouting from her forehead. She favours practical traveller’s garb, but rarely goes anywhere without her longsword, a prized gift from her mother. (Quite apart from wanting to protect herself, she’s well aware that a blade forged by Chelish master-smiths before the rise of the House of Thrune is worth more coin than many commoners might make in five years.) If expecting battle (or clad for a religious ceremony like the Swallowtail Festival), she wears her armour, a toughened-leather breast-and-backplate arrangement with an inner lining of chainmail and leather pauldrons, vambraces, and greaves, with the arms of Iomedae moulded into its front. (She also bears the arms of Iomedae on her iron-shod wooden shield, and her flaunting of that emblem has seen more than a few folk mistake her for a paladin of the Inheritor, which tends to make them think twice about playing tricks on her.)

Please, let me know if I’d need to fine-tune anything. ;)

Kuros -- sent you some suggestions from what I have for character pictures

Thanks I'll use one of those.

Right now, if I could take all of you, I would. Seriously, there are some really good characters here.

I love when we do this to GMs - it means the quality of the game will be great.

Why not take us all and just double the numbers of enemies/enounter? :P

That would be a logistical nightmare on PbP.

And considering this is game 2 that I'm running, I'd rather make tough choices now and avoid burnout later.

Liberty's Edge

You have successfully tempted me with your picture Noro. The white clues in to the whole 'holy-assassin' thing nicely and subtly.

And that's midnight central time, you said?

Good luck!

In two hours, yep.

Liberty's Edge

Aye, that's what I'm getting around to then.

Best of luck, all involved. You all deserve a spot. I'm excited to see it all unfold!

Just to clarify, I'm not going to be announcing anything until Friday. You can edit your characters until then. (This includes writing them up.)

Liberty's Edge

Understood. But we'll know who's in the running at that point. Which will lead to a few days of nothing but pregame development!

Repost as I'm really confused. My PDF has traits like the one in my profile. Pfsrd has ones like Outlander that are listed as coming from the APG. Which are we using? Are both legal?

I've spent a lot of time at work cooking up more character development for Akisame. I am liking him more and more. Gonna put the developments in his profile soon.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, I'm quite excited to play Victoria. In one campaign or another.

Campaign Trait Sources:
The RotRL:AE Players guide link
The RotRL Traits from Varisia: Birthplace of Legends link
The campaign traits from the APG (Outlander, Favored Son/Daughter, and Black Sheep)

Hopefully that answers any questions about the Campaign traits. Sorry for the delay in answering.

EDIT: No longer accepting new applications. Everyone else has until Friday to do any major changes. I'll give everyone the weekend to make any tweaks and links to each other they want to make.

Added some new fluff for my backstory. I really liking how he is flushing out. I hope I get to use him. This seems to be the only AP I know of available on the recruitment boards and I am not personally in any games at the moment and would love to get into one.

Hi, I've decided to withdraw Big Al Rosethistle. Thanks for your consideration and good luck with the decision!

Hey all, Krixis is not native to sandpoint. He is Ulfen by birth. He has been in town for a few days selling smithing goods. Would be happy to work out a bit of background info with any others that may be selected if I'm selected. Thanks.

Well, if she’s also selected for the campaign, I’d imagine Pavanna would certainly be interested in working with another tiefling. FWIW, she’s originally from Westcrown in Cheliax, but now lives in Magnimar and is visiting Sandpoint for the Swallowtail Festival as an ecumenical gesture.

Now, Pavanna doesn’t have a huge chip on her shoulder, like a lot of other tieflings born in Cheliax (or indeed elsewhere), but she does fervently believe in her mother’s adage that a person’s deeds, rather than their heritage, are the true proof of their character, and she’s quite happy to live up to that maxim if the need arises.

Oh yeah forgot about the Festival that makes it a perfect time to be merchanting. Yeah I don't plan on having a chip on my shoulder either just a desire to help people and do good.

got a bit quiet all of a sudden.

Noro is still here ready for all challengers.

The festival is the main reason my caravan (and therefore myself) is in town.
I have a chip or two. But nothing that should damage party integrity as long as no one starts acting like a military commander without a consensus. The military is a sensetive topic with me.

Well, a guy's gotta sleep, ya know. :P

Liberty's Edge

As I said before, if Victoria is selected, she would likely have been in Sandpoint for a very brief time. And she arrived alone most likely. But I have no issues working anything out. I just want to root out corruption and all that.

Not long guys! I'm just updating Charles' ethnicity to Ustalavian, and then all's done on my profile. :)

Corruption? In Varisia? No! Say it's not so! :P

More seriously, though, I think we're just editing and waiting with bated breath. >_>

Yea,t hat's why I think Charles and Victoria will get on well, unless there's a major personality clash for some reason!

Not sure if Charles is looking for a relationship or not btw. He's been too into his studies to care about that for the majority of his life. I think he may have kissed a girl once, but with a jet black eye (iris and pupil only), and an eyepatch over the other one, I wouldn't have thought many would be attracted to him, even if the rest of him is considerably good looking.

When not in armour, he wears black boots, navy blue trousers, a white frilly shirt with a satin patterned navy blue waistcoat, a pocket watch with an old looking gold chain and a red ruby in the centre of it. He also has a bright red/crimson amulet and a navy blue tailcoat, with a red cravat. His hair is long, shadowed and black, and his complexion is pale.

His ears are slightly pointed as are his fangs, but apart from that he looks just like a Victorian era-esque gentleman. An attractive man with good intellect accompanied by decent morality.

Indeed. I just updated my traits to match the options given. I'm good to go. :)

Hehe, Akisame fancies himself a meddlesome do-gooder as well and has issues with corruption and believes strongly in justice. He's kind of a paladin as well but of the monk variety. He throws evil-doers to the people with the sword of justice. Yep, throwing evil is just one of his favorite past times.

Batter up then! :p

I prefer a nice shish kabob. :)

Added more story and personality to profile.

Actually when in battle, Akisame is good at two things, making foes easier to hit and taking out spellcasters. He can reduce a target's AC by 6 and can easily manipulate his target to give anyone who wants it a flanking buddy. So a total of an 8 difference for an ally to hit a target.

He is complete battlefield control and tremendously effective at it. I just need a few melee allies to take advantage of the opportunity I give them.

Sounds like my Lelouch who never seems to get accepted or remain in a Kingmaker game. :/

?He's my only character I have this issue with. He has mind control/power of suggestion and is incredibly effective at it.

Kyras has mental magics, mostly focused on denying his enemies a chance to act. Laughing Touch and a DC 17 daze. One denies all actions for a turn, the other limits it to a move action. My goodness, people are going to find fighting him annoying.

I aspire to mage-hood. (going magus starting lvl 4) I even carry around an empty spell book and spell component pouch so I can practice elementary casting in my spare time. :)

Liberty's Edge

Umm, Victoria will just be a standard archer plus all the 'take that, evil!' stuff paladins normally get. An archer with ridiculous saves, immunities, resistances, and the ability to pick an evil creature and rock its world sums her up nicely. Oh, and stealth (which paladins normally don't get).

I'll probably go around fluffing up her code and such until Friday.

Noro is a simple tactic with enemies.

1. approach
2. punch it
2a. chug a beer
3. if it is still moving repeat #2
4. cheer
5. chug a beer

she does have a complex battle plan if needed

1. approach
2. bear hug
3. squeeze until it stops moving
3a chug a beer
4. tie it up until I'm ready to use the simple tactic on it.
5. Chug a beer

Hm... I wonder whether we have any healers, actually. That could be quite... interesting, if we don't end up getting any. Rely on UMD, I guess. xD
