Kurag Urlot III |
Dibs on the arrows unless someone else is claiming a bow. Uggh, the bows are +3 strength. I don't think I can use them without a penalty. I will have to check what that is before I claim one,
BB Beetle |
I just realized, BB cannot use a flurry of blows with a spear. I thought it was a monk weapon. My apologies for that. It didn't affect any damage rolls so far, so BB will just use his unarmed strikes for now.
Kurag Urlot III |
Thanks for the heads up. Holidays are always a tricky time of the year for posting anyways. Have fun and don't get too bent out of shape with the family.
BB Beetle |
Just in time, too. The sooner we threaten this bomber the sooner he stops blowing us up.
DM RichD |
Question for the group: Do you all get your +4 Dodge bonus vs Giants against a skeleton? The description says it is a 'Large Undead'. I know this always comes up and there is always lot of confusion.
Also, if the +4 dodge does apply, does it stack with Sergei's +4 dodge bonus for total defense?
EDIT:If it helps, this skeleton does not have any intelligence as people treat intelligent undead different from unintelligent undead.
Kurag Urlot III |
Type: The creature's type changes to undead. It retains any subtype except for alignment subtypes (such as good) and subtypes that indicate kind (such as giant). It does not gain the augmented subtype. It uses all the base creature's statistics and special abilities except as noted here.
Bad on this it would be a humanoid skeleton so the dwarven racial bonus would not apply. If this was a true giant though the dwarven racial bonus and the fight defensively would stack. Dodge bonuses are the few things that stack.

Some notes:
1. It was asked why Skreed did not have to battle the spiders and gryphs. That is actually answered in the module for the burial chamber as "Skreed and his wolves entered this chamber by way of the small tunnel to the northeast, just managing to avoid the shadow rat swarm in area P2 and the gryphs and spiders in area P4."
I have looked at the map and my eyes do not see this tunnel anywhere! Can someone tell me what coordinates this tunnel starts and end?
2. This completes the first book in the AP: Battle of Bloodmarch Hill. I play the AP's close to how they are written (After all Paizo pays the writers good money!) Therefore if you go back and read the AP, these events should be very familiar.
3. You all are now level 4. Summarize your leveling in this thread.
4. You find the merchants will buy your loot for 60% instead of the normal 50%. They will also give you a 5% discount on purchases. I know Drosk had the party treasure list, not sure if anyone picked it up. You will have a few days for shopping. Let me know if you want to buy something exotic or pricey.
Kurag Urlot III |
Woohoo...level 4! Wha too take rogue or ranger at this level. I will have to play with it and then let you know.
I will also let you know what if any purchases I am thinking about.
Sergei von Janderhoff |
I am happy to take over the treasure list; it will just take me a while to wade through it, since it looks like it hasn't been updated in some time...
Sergei von Janderhoff |
@Re: the route Skreed took, I think that the writers mean that he *did* go via the tunnel that takes you through P4 - it's just that for 'plot' reasons, he was able to hurry through the area before the resident monsters realised what was going on...
BB Beetle |
Woohoo! Second level spells!
Question: Would we have downtime to craft magic items, via Craft Wondrous Item?
Bormann Grimm |
That bastard Skreed probably riled them all up. I'll make sure he gets what's coming to him...
Definitely leveling up barbarian.
New rage power: lesser elemental rage
4th level stat bump: +1 Strength (now 18)
Favored class bonus: +1 rage round (Dwarven option, I think)
Skill ranks: added to Climb, Intimidate, Perception, and Survival
Sergei von Janderhoff |
Alright, I have compiled a treasure list (linked as a hyperlink on Sergei's profile), noting what various people have claimed.
As part of that, I discovered that the party actually had a second Wand of CLW (which I think was forgotten about, as far as I can tell...)
Please let me know what people wish to claim, then I will work on liquidating the rest, so we can sort-out how much we have to re-equip ourselves with.
Kurag Urlot III |
In a dilemma here. I always planned on taking 2 levels of rogue to get trap spotter rogue talent. Do I take that now or not?
I am leaning towards rogue at the moment. 1 more skill, +1 reflex saves, 2 less HP, same bab but evasion and trap spotter.
Ranger: +2 HP, 1 less skill, +1 will sves endurance, favored terrain, 1 level close to higher ranger level abilities.
Kurag Urlot III |
Don't want to be greedy but if no one claims thunder stones, fuse grenades, alchemist fires Kurag will gladly take them as it gives him more ranged options. Those and the previously mentioned arrows.
More exotic purchases will come once stuff is liquidated.
Bormann Grimm |
Kurag, now's as good a time as any to invest in the rogue level, particularly if it's the only other rogue level you're planning on. Get it out of the way and then concentrate on ranger all the rest of the way up...
I'm also pitching a Hunter character your way for RoW.
Bormann Grimm |
As far as loot goes, I'm in scale mail now, so I'd like one of the MW Breast plates.
I had been carrying the MW Battle-axe but had decided to go with the better damage potential of my own greataxe. But now that I see a MW greataxe on the list, I'd like to get my hands on that instead. I could also make use of one of those mighty (+3) short bows. It's not my full potential for damage, but it'll be a nice help.
The heavy load belt would be nice for anyone who feels a bit low on Strength (which doesn't seem like much of a problem in this group) and is on the edge of being hampered by their gear. If nobody really needs it, we can sell that, but it might make it a little easier for Greta to tote around heavier armor?
Bormann Grimm |
Uskroth's armor looks like a good fit for either Sergei or Greta. I favor my mobility a bit more than half plate would easily allow.
Sergei von Janderhoff |
@Kurag: I have no objections to your 'claims', but I will point out that the fuse grenades are extremely unreliable - they explode 1d3 rounds *after* you throw them, meaning it is (relatively) unlikely that they will cause damage, unless the target is somehow immobilised.
@Bormann: I have updated the list with your 'claims'.
Kurag Urlot III |
The heavy load belt I would like I think to increase my light load so I can still use evasion upon taking my second rogue level.
Sergei, I understand about fuse grenades but they give options for area effect damage.
BB Beetle |
Hmm, I see. If downtime works like this, then BB won't really have time to craft. I wouldn't be able to take it until levels 5 or 6, anyway.
Sergei von Janderhoff |
@Kurag: No problem. I have updated the list with your confirmed claim on the grenades, and your further claim on the belt.
If Greta wants the magical armor, I am happy to take the magical weapon.
Bormann Grimm |
Greta, don't worry about buying the armor. There are 2 MW breastplates in the list. If Sergei goes with the magic armor (which he should, if you don't want it now), that keeps the one I'm not taking available for the asking.
Hmm...we've got magic armor and a magic weapon. With Greta passing on it, the armor kind of directs itself at Sergei. He's the only one of us with proficiency in it.
He's also, I think, the only one with a penchant for using hammers, though as dwarves, we all know how to use them. And that brings up the next statement...
I don't mind Sergei getting both if we think he's the best dwarf to use them. I don't get all wrapped up on each PC having a scrupulously equal share of treasure - as long as we can try to get everyone balanced in a broad sense and everyone gets their chance to get better stuff. I'm also OK with either Greta or myself taking it and passing it on to Sergei later if we find or buy weapons that fit our combat styles better. Either way, since the GM has told us it has campaign-oriented flavor, we really should keep it (as if we weren't inclined to do so already) and make sure it's available for relatively frequent use.
Greta Bolkasdottir |
I'm using Bolka's favored weapon, which is important to Greta. I'll stick with that and maybe upgrade to a masterwork version or magical version when I get the cash. I'm not worried about equitable loot in a group that's playing through an AP. I'd rather see the character who ismost likely to benefit from the loot get it.
Kurag Urlot III |
same thoughts here as well. If there is an item that is best suited for a character then by all means that character should use it even if it throws off the wealth levels.
I think I decided on rogue for this level
HP: +8
bab: +1
reflex save: +1
dex: +1
rogue talent: trap spotter
evasion!
skills x8: +1 each perception, acrobatics, disable device, know local, know geography, ride, stealth and survival
BB Beetle |
One more level of Wizard. Now Wizard 3/Monk 1.
+1 Int (now 17)
Will Saves +1 (now +8)
1 Second Spell per Day (2 per day due to high Int)
2 knew spells learned
- Bear's Endurance
- Summon Monster 2
2 + Int skill points
- Acrobatics (now +7)
- Appraise (now +10)
- Knowledge(Arcana) (now +10)
- Perception (now +7)
- Spellcraft (now +8)
HP d6 + Con +1 Favored Class (now 27)
BB Beetle |
I'd like to claim the Shield Cloak. Very nifty at this level.
Also, the Wand of Magic Missile.
I think we shouldn't sell these and keep them communal:
Potion of Bull's Strength
Potion of Enlarge Person
Wand of Cure Light Wounds
Adamantine Crossbow bolts
Scroll of Tongues
Wand of Invisibility
Potion of Remove Sickness
...and the Agrimosh.
Kurag Urlot III |
all disposaable items should be claimed by someone who will use them. If Greta does not want the wand of cure light wounds Kurag will take it to spread the healing around again.
