Hi everyone.
I'm trying to reduce the amount of games I play on Paizo. We're at a good stopping point here, so I'm going to retire BB. We made it back to Trunau, and he'll continue to keep watch over it in case more giants attack. He will eventually continue looking for his sister, and that will take him around the world
It's been a pleasure playing with all of you. Good luck and when you kill those giants, tell 'em BB helped!
Khari Dronwoth
It has been a pleasure to play with you BB. I hope things continue to go well!
Kiln Redaxe
Hahaha, given those questions and the way you asked it, my answer would be "both."
I'd vote for a Bard that can handle some arcane casting, knowledge stuff, and with Haste, and Bardsong (which is +2/+2 and a move action at 7th level), makes the rest of us better able to beat opponents to death!
DM RichD
Okay! Trying to play catch up after two weeks is insane! I am sorry to hear about the loss of BB. It also sounds like before we start this next part of the adventure, we need an arcanist. If anyone knows some one that would like to join, let me know. Until then, I will post in the recruitment thread. Hopefully we can fill this role quickly and start the adventure!
Ondek Brightstone
Howdy howdy.
Reading through your gameplay thread now.
Any special tricks you all have employed?
Ondek is very much NOT a melee threat, but hes intended to help mitigate enemy actions via cloud/wall spells, soak damage via summon, and buff/support our fighter types.
If we can remain diplomatic, hes quite good at lying and smooth talking, especially if he can employ charm spells. He also speaks pretty much all the languages and knows quite a bit about our common threats (no religion or nature, unfortunately).
Khari Dronwoth
Welcome aboard! I don't think that we have anything special established yet for this group.
Kiln Redaxe
Well, the name of the game is Giantslayer. Giants tend to be large bags of hit points that just need to get popped. Whatever facilitates that goal works for me.
Now, Kiln is a bit of a hammer, in that he views all problems as being a nail. When we run into non-nail problems, Kiln won't have any solutions to suggest. Hopefully someone else, including you, has solutions for when we run into buttons, staples, screws, and zippers!
Kurag Urlot III
Very apt assessment Kiln. I think you and Rask do have the hammer part down pat. Kurag for his part though is the sneaky outdoors type. Typical scout with high perception stealth and trap skills.
Usually I sneak up and scout what is there then report back to the hammers so they know hw many and what they need to smash.
Ondek Brightstone
Seems like my standard array of illusion, enchantment, and conjuration spells should be well suited to this box of hammers.
If time allows, enlarge person and haste should be excellent buffs to throw on either Kiln or Rask, and a summoned flanker or meatshield should facilitate damage being assigned to not us.
I think this team should work well together.

In my experience haste is the single most damagey spell in the game. +1 to hit and an full BAB attack for everyone.
Ondek Brightstone
Yup, it's my go to 3rd level spell, usually followed up by fly and stinking cloud. I do enjoy the shenanigans involved with shrink item as well, but that's more of a fun spell than useful.

Are we doing a loot sheet or divvying up as we go along?
Kiln Redaxe
There’s a rule for this!
Communism and democracy gets a party killed. Situational Meritocracy gets you fortune and glory.
I’ve got all 200 rules in my main profile.
DM RichD
I don't know if anyone was keeping track. Here is the loot from the AP:
Melira:

mud-caked +1 buckler, a masterwork heavy pick, an elixir
of swimming, an oil of f lame arrow, a potion of resist energy
(electricity), a scroll of spear of purityUM, 11 pp, 40 gp, 70 sp,
and a bloodstone worth 50 gp
Orc Raiders (Calrianne Blix) (Multiply the below by 3):
Combat Gear goblin skull bombUE, shadow essence (1 dose);
Other Gear studded leather, falchion, javelin, spiked
gauntlet, antitoxin, 44 gp
Tark Singeskin:

Ghostlight Marsh:
Treasure: The 21 carved wooden panels on the walls
display exquisite craftsmanship, and if pieced out
individually, each carving is worth 100 gp. If sold as a
complete set to a collector interested in druidic magic or
the history of Ghostlight Marsh, however, they are worth
up to 2,500 gp in total.
Treasure: In addition to a pouch containing 13 goodberries
(they remain fresh for 1 week after being removed from this
room), a PC who succeeds at a DC 13 Appraise or Knowledge
(nature) check can identify 12 exotic seeds and plants worth
50 gp each.
Treasure: The large wooden chest atop the eastern
mound is locked (hardness 3, hp 12, break DC 21, Disable
Device DC 30), and any attempts to move it fail, as it is
actually built into the hillside. Opening (or destroying) it
reveals an empty interior, but a PC who succeeds at a DC
20 Perception check notices a false bottom in the chest.
Beneath the false bottom, a warped wooden ladder descends
inside the hill to a 10-foot-square chamber containing the
Council of Thorns’ hidden armory. Although several of
the items once stored here have decayed or rotted away, the
cache still contains a +1 ironwood breastplate, Gorum’s thorn
(see the sidebar), a +1 f laming scimitar, 10 +1 orc bane arrows,
a single orc slaying arrow, a scroll of barkskin, a scroll of call
lightning, a scroll of summon nature’s ally IV, a wand of f laming

Gorb Ogrekin (Multiply by 7):
Combat Gear thunderstones (2); Other Gear wooden armor, composite longbow (+6 Str) with 20 arrows, ogre
hook,
2d20 gp
Fabian Blix:
Glory Medallion
Treasury:
Treasure: Grenseldek’s discarded wedding dress, a giantsized, gem-encrusted silk gown, is draped like a tablecloth
over a large oaken desk inside the cage. The gown is worth
500 gp in materials alone.
Under the gown are a number of important documents.
Several of the papers appear to be drafts of a formal
letter addressed to “the Storm Tyrant Volstus”—this is
Grenseldek’s marriage proposal to the Storm Tyrant (see
Handout #2). Crumpled into a ball next to Grenseldek’s
final draft is the Storm Tyrant’s response to her letter
(see Handout #3). There is also a detailed inventory of
Grenseldek’s dowry, and besides cataloging the items found in this room, the list includes several items from
Uskroth’s tomb beneath Trunau as future additions to
the dowry: most notably, Uskroth’s armor, Uskroth’s
hammer, and something called “Uskroth’s rock.” This
last item is accompanied by a detailed drawing of a geode
half surrounded by scribbled notes hinting that the rock
fragment forms half of a treasure map. The depicted geode
is not among the papers on the desk (Grenseldek has it
with her in area K36), and though it looks similar to the
geode half the PCs found in Uskroth’s tomb in “Battle of
Bloodmarch Hill,” it is clearly a different stone. A final
note mentions adding “the stuff in the giantkiller’s tomb”
to the dowry. Lastly, a parchment map shows the location
of a secluded valley in the Mindspin Mountains south of
Belkzen. “My future with Volstus starts here” is scrawled
on the back of the map in Giant.
Grenseldek’s dowry consists of the following, scattered
among the chests, crates, and loose piles of coins outside
the cage: a book of love poems written in Giant worth
25 gp; a marble bust of a stone giant (actually the giant
god Minderhal, recognizable with a successful DC 20
Knowledge [religion] check) worth 100 gp; a woven 25-footsquare carpet depicting two giants making love worth 125
gp; a polished, giant-sized drinking horn made from a
mammoth’s tusk worth 150 gp; a macabre necklace made
from petrified human and elf ears; a series of 12 framed
drawings or proportion studies of different giants (cave
giant, ogre, hill giant, marsh giant, stone giant, ettin,
frost giant, tomb giant [see Pathfinder Adventure Path #94],
fire giant, ash giant, cloud giant, and storm giant), each
worth 50 gp; a gem-encrusted scabbard for a Huge falcata
worth 200 gp; a bronze statue of a fierce storm giant riding
a dragon worth 150 gp; as well as 5 pp, 147 gp, 103 sp, and
976 cp.
Gutterunch Gorb:
Combat Gear javelin of lightning, scroll of mirror image,
scrolls of speak with dead (2), wand of summon monster III
(9 charges); Other Gear javelins (2), quarterstaff, headband
of alluring charisma +2, unholy symbol of Zura
Grenseldek's Bodyguards (Multiply the below by 2):
Combat Gear potion of cure serious wounds, potion of haste,
potion of aid, thunderstone; Other Gear +1 studded leather,
mwk greataxe, throwing axes (2), 48 gp
Grenseldek:
Combat Gear potion of cure serious wounds; Other Gear
+1 scale mail, +2 handaxe, mwk handaxe, mwk composite
longbow (+9 Str) with 20 arrows
Kiln Redaxe
Most of that is self explanatory, but what are:
Gorum's Thorn, was this reflavored as Torag's Edge?
Uskroth's Armor
Uskroth's Hammer
How much of all that are you guys using/wearing?
Kurag Urlot III
10 +1 orc bane arrows,
a single orc slaying arrow,
a scroll of barkskin
mwk chain shirt,
belt of incredible dexterity +2
wand of greater magic fang (12 charges)
thunderstonex2
I believe that is the most of it. Once the others chime in then we can figure the total up and sell the rest. I could go for some barding for Lucky and some other nicities depending on what Trunau offers.
RichD, what are we looking at for items available in town, mundane and magic items. Or how long have we had to possibly upgrade equipment?
Kurag Urlot III
don't want that armor...the mithral chain I would like to have though unless someone else already has it.
So Trunau is a small town at 1000gp base price. That means that I have a 75% chance of finding anything under that. It also says there is d6 medium and 3d4 minor magic items beyond the normal base price. Do you want to roll for those or have 1 of us?
Ondek Brightstone
wand of cat’s grace (8 charges)
wand of invisibility (6 charges)
belt of incredible dexterity +2
lesser extend metamagic rod,
ring of protection +1
javelin of lightning,
scroll of mirror image
wand of summon monster III (9 charges)
Were these items claimed by the other PCs or used by any current chsracters?
If not, and Ondek gets a chance to ID them, these are the things he would wany.
I understand since I came in with custom generated wealth if that's not kosher, but I'd figure I'd mention it.
Kiln Redaxe
+1 ring
Uskroth's Armor
Dex +2 belt (which I'll swap for +2 STR at the first chance)
Those are the only items that really speak to me. Kiln is a pretty straightforward fighter type. No fuss, no muss, etc.
Khari Dronwoth
Question for GM: Does the glory medallion's anti-darkness effect work for non Iomedaens? If yes, Khari will take it. Always good to have a response for magical darkness.
Ondek Brightstone
Okay, barring any objections from GM I'll add those wands and metamagic rod to my character sheet.
The ring and belt should go to more martial pcs for sure.
Kurag Urlot III
I have the belt of Dex +2.. no one seems to claim the Mithras chain so will add that as well.
Ondek go ahead with wands and rod as far as I am concerned.
If someone wants to tally the rest great but I would recommend not selling any potions as we can all use them in a pinch.
