I went with Friend of the Family (Koya)
Jayna Halbriar |
Level 1 Sorcerer applying for adventure and caravan chases. My crunch is in the profile.
Her first attempt at being an adventurer was cut short when her traveling companions ran away leaving her to face a band of goblins alone. She was rescued by Shalelu in the woods outside of Sandpoint, and brought to the Rusty Dragon to recover.
Her former companions were already there. They weren't a bit sorry for leaving her behind. Things have not gone well after their reunion.
Feeling betrayed she spends her evenings in a dark corner of the Rusty Dragon making sure her former companions beer is way too warm, food is icy, and table is dirty.
Things are going to boil over very soon. Shalelu has suggested Jayna get out of town soon. She can't let their desertion go, and there are more of them than her.
Thanks for your consideration.
Jayna Halbriar |
A slight blond woman sits in the darkest corner of the Rusty Dragon muttering quietly and wiggling her fingers. Her concentration is on the table of angry adventurers near the center of the room. When the commotion starts, and Shalelu comes into the bar she stops muttering, and looks up with interest.
Hearing the word goblins she stands up and starts toward the group following Shalelu being careful to avoid the adventurer's table.
More of those horrible creatures. I wonder how they got the drop on Shalelu.
Jayna was busy getting her petty revenge and didn't notice much of the interaction until everyone headed for the door.
Tarvinda Darvelle |
Changed extra language to Eleven from Tian, to keep with the story.
Born to merchants of Garundi, Tarvinda was orphaned at an early age, when her parents caravan was attacked in the forests of Varasia by a gang of thugs, thieves and murderers. All the caravan was left for dead, but fortunately for Tarvinda, she was hiding in an empty water barrel. When she awoke from unconsciousness, the eight year old saw the devastation, breaking down in tears when she found the decapitated head of her mother, clothes ripped from her body. Her father had died with an arrow cutting through his throat, leaving him clutching the wound, covered in a pool of drying blood. No child should see such a scene.
In a haze of mental torment and sorrow, the grieving child wandered through the forest for several days, in the dark and green until she found a clearing in the canopy. The sun shone down and onto the earth, heating it and making it most welcome place to rest in the rich grass that covered the floor. It was here under the bright yellow sun that Tarvinda felt the blessing of Sarenrae, seeking her out and comforting her. She curled in a ball and slept under Sarenrae's protection. It as here that Shalelu found her, a child, bloodied and under nourished. Having had reports already of a caravan having been massacred, it didn't tae long for Shalelu to work out the child was the lone survivor and she took her under her wing. It was Shalelu that she was given the name Tarvinda Darvelle, meaning in the eleven tongue, Traveller of Varasia and of Sun Fire.
Shalelu did all she could to teach Tarvinda the ways of the ranger, along with the others of her age, but it was not an easy path. In the early days haunted by the images of death, she held a feeling of injustice, taking the opportunity to force her will on others more fortunate than her. It was more than once that Shalelu was ashamed of the bully that Tarvinda had become. As Shalelu went about her business deep into the forests around Sandpoint, once more Sarenrae protected her ward, sending a cleric to bring the bullying to heel. He taught Tarvinda to focus the anger on those who do evil, to focus on those who would murder and steal and on those who drove these unfortunates to perform such acts, the deamons and devils and others who coerce and trick the weak. Trvinda was given a reason, to travel and seek out the evil in the world, and maybe one day to seek divine retribution on those who took her parents life. With this change in attitude, Shalelu was able to teach Tarvinda more on surviving in the ancient forests of Varasia, but not the way of the ranger. Instead Sarenrae's fire that burnt in her belly, took her path down that of the holy warrior, the Paladin.
And so Tarvinda, tall, dark looking out of place as one of Varasia, stands tall in here shining armor, over whose breastplate a tabard of the fiery sun is a centre piece. She walks confidently, a clean looking two handed shaft with an orange cloth or leather handle is held n her hands. At the end of the shaft a large metal spiked ball is attached with a dull metal chain. The ball, wicked and heavy shows slight indentations, as the chain's links nearest the ball, look reddened with dried blood. She has a broad smile and an infectious laugh, some one you would want as a friend, and not an enemy.
And so she has come to Sandpoint, to visit Shalelu once more.

Taus Arkona |
Taus had checked out situation and found it to be non-threatening to Koyas safety. He kept out of the way outside the house so that he didn't get in the way of the comings and goings. Also so could keep an eye on the surrounds for danger while Koya was distracted, that's what he tells himself anyway after Koya kicked him out of her house and he had to settle with pursuing his guardianship from out here.
When it is all resolved he heads back to the tavern and takes a seat near the doors. He places his helm under the chair and shield leaning on the table.

I still haven't decided on a second trait, but this is my mostly finished concept: an "imperial kobold" who is trying to become the family guardian (or kirin) of the Kaijistu family.
By the way, I'm taking the Childhood Crush for Ameiko, but I was wondering if I could reflavor it so that, rather than earning her love, Karp is trying to earn her approval as a guardian spirit. If she ultimately acknowledges him as a true and proper dragon spirit, that counts as earning her "love". Would that be cool?

That would be fine

I´m interested as well.
Already have several character ideas at hand, but want to give them a better tie in story.
Is there a deadline?
Yes I am going to be closing recruitment today. I am sorry for the short notice but I've had more than enough interest. The good news is with the amount of applicants we've had I have decided two run two tables of this.

Luthor Volandis wrote:No unfortunatly I will not be running this for PFS credit. Also dotting for interest here. I'll look at the guide and see if anything jumps out at me.
Quick question: Will you be filling out PFS chronicle sheets for this as sections of the adventure path are completed?
You don't need to do anything different when running it for PFS credit. You just crank out certs after each book,
During the campaign, you can use any house rules you please.
Luthor Volandis |
Thank you for your reply.
If you don't wish to do PFS credit that is totally your choice as GM. If that is the case then i'll wait until i can play through another time for PFS credit rather than potentially ending up playing the AP twice.
I'll keep working on my character concept though because it never hurts to have characters ready for when a game pops up! :)

A few minutes (posts) earlier...
"...Hnn?" A grumbling sound emerges from a distant table of The Rusty Dragon Inn, accompanied by a terse groan as a short, lilac-clad ghost of a woman is roused from her dreams. Seeing everyone's reaction, and smelling the scent of burnt hair and skin wafting in the air, Rhis pulls up her scarf over her face, adjusting for a better recline. "...Five more minutes," is what her mouth says, but one eye remains open beneath the fabric, drawing a tight bead on the events at hand.
Once things begin to settle down, and it appears no one is actually on fire, the Desnan shrugs back into a comfortable position, intent on returning to her nap. There's enough bodies about there, she figures, and, before long, settles back into sleep.
One Archer Warpriest of Desna, as promised, calling in for glorious shenanigans! Put me down for Ranged / Martial more than divine. Godspeed with your picks Mathpro, and good luck to everyone else!

Okay so I'm probably crazy for trying this but I think I'm going to be running 3 tables of this at once...I just hated seeing some of you on the cutting room floor...note that just because your listed in a certain table this does not mean I liked you any more/less its just how I saw things playing well.
Will the following people please head over to the discussion threads(once they're posted) for your respective games:

Giovanni
Tarvinda
Ayame
Ichirou
Andrisel
Table 2:
Shaeda
Caerwin

Yikes Mathpro, talk about giving yourself some extra work!
Yeah...So I'm running 3 tables of Jade Regent now, 3 tables of rise of the runelords, 1 table of Crypt of the Everflame, and playing in another rise of the runelords game...8 games...the max I've done is 12 at a time so I guess we're still under that lol
