Yuki Okano |

Yuki carefully looks through the journal while the others collect the loot. "This place is crazy, maybe this journal explains something. While we're here, we should probably gather up some water from the spring."

DM Davy Jones |

The ring is magical, everything else is mundane.
In the nest at the top you find a trio of silver shoe buckles, a finger that is...wriggling...set with a gold ring and a silver hatpin. There's also a vial with clear yet milky liquid in it.
The journal is the work of a man named Arron Ivy, who was a sailor on the Infernus, a Chelish merchant vessel. Arron tells of a great storm that drove the ship to ground on the island. Supplies dwindle and the survivors build a village on a beach towards the north end of the island. But three "courtesans" who were with the crew come down with a fever and turn into ghouls after a prolonged illness, attacking the rest of the crew and then eating them.
Arron escaped and fled into the mountains where he built the stockade, but eventually became sickened by the same fever that took the ghouls.
He hung himself rather than become undead, trapped on the island for eternity.
Anyone want to take another look through that spyglass?

Nymph |

"Sweet!" Nymph calls down as she grabs up the cache in tree before shimmying back down to the others, depositing the new items with the others. Minus the wriggling finger which she flicks aside.
While waiting for the observations to be completed she notices the lonely spyglass and goes to take a look through it, if only in the vain hope of spying wherever those squid-goblins were holed up.

Ayre |

Ayre, attempts to identify the ring, after casting guidance on himself
1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 9 + 1 = 21

Yuki Okano |

After getting the gist of the journal, Yuki begins filling the barrels with spring water, whistling while she works.

DM Davy Jones |

Hey, this ring is quite impressive it is a _______
Ring of swimming
Nymph, you do see, through the glass, a number of "squid-goblins" (not their real name!) frolicking in a bay. One of them appears to be wearing a weathered tricorn hat that looks an awful lot like Sandara's.

Nymph |

"Oi! I found where some of those squid-goblin-children-thingies are at!.. and one of the little bastards has Sandara's hat." she growls out while looking trough the spyglass.

Galean "Rafter" Santiago |

"Sandara's hat? I wanted that thing... I don't even have a sailor's hat yet.", murmurs Galean, giving a smile. "Well, let's get going! Those squid-goblin-children-thingies aren't going to kill themselves!", he finishes, drawing his cutlass in a Intimidate: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1 spectacularly failed attempt to appear threatening. Constipated, possibly, but intimidating, not at all. Regardless, he begins trotting forward, first in the line.
Considering he has the same HP and AC as Nymph, there isn't a lot of issues with that.
His trusty driftwood shield and cutlass in hand, he starts chopping fronds in an adventurous manner, waiting on the other to proceed.
Also, Happy 4th of July, Mericans!

Nymph |

Glaring Nymph rounds on the druid. "Unless you intend on bucking that hat off of her the old fashioned way the only one going to wear Sandara's hat is Sandara."

Ayre |

Whatta ya say we go slaughter them. They have put me in a terrible mood. We can set up an ambush I have unraveled the mystery of a new spell that should be able to flush them towards us. I can create the image of a water dragon charging them with intent to eat.
IE one of my new spells is minor image

Nymph |

"Works for me," Nymph says while wearing an evil grin.

Yuki Okano |

"Good find, Nymph! Once we finish filling these barrels, let's go see if they still have our friends!" Yuki says, giving her full support to this plan of action.

Ayre |

why don't we go see first the. Finish the barrels. Ayre says tossing the ring of swimming to Gallean to wear

DM Davy Jones |

Galean getting Sandara's hat would probably go like this.
I am returned, how do you wish to get down the mountain to the cove? Through the fields?

Nymph |

"Yeah, we can always come back for the water."
What other options are there?

DM Davy Jones |

You can go straight down the mountain or go down to hit the fields and then around.

Galean "Rafter" Santiago |

"Sounds exciting!", says Galean, putting the ring on his hand. Ooh! I got a special ring, just like the pirates I've heard so much about! His attitude jumps from the usual rather moany Galean to a more excitable kid-like attitude, which rises even more as he hears about jumping from the cliff. "Are you sure this is safe?", he asks Ayre, eyebrow raised.

Nymph |

"F*$& no it's not safe! We'd be jumpin off a friggin cliff!" Nymph excitedly says through a grin.

Nymph |

I guess, if it is indeed viable.

Ayre |

oh, it might not be due to only CL 3. Are any of us small? What if we tie two people together...

Nymph |

Albatross platoon?

DM Davy Jones |

I believe only three could get down with feather fall thanks to the CL Ayre is forced to use.

Yuki Okano |

"Maybe you should save your magic for now, Ayre. I guess we should move through the fields. I mean, it might be better to go around them, but we're short on time."

Nymph |

"Yeah, besides I'd like to practice first before I go throwing myself off a cliff."
Is the spyglass portable? If so Nymph takes that as well."

DM Davy Jones |

It is.
A clearing in the jungle contains overgrown fields of some
sort of corn. The crops have gone wild, creating a high barrier
wafting gently in the breeze.

Nymph |

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Nymph keeps an eye out as the group heads towards the wild maize.

DM Davy Jones |

Nymph, you come across a scarecrow apparently made of a human head, shrunken from age.

Nymph |

"F$~!! Headhunters? Seriously?!" Nymph spits out upon seeing the grizzly ward. After a brief pause she inspects it and the surrounding area before moving on.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

DM Davy Jones |

You see a few more of the heads but nothing else.
Anyone else want to see if they can beat Nymph's rolls?

Ayre |

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 +2 vs surprise
Ayre looks exactly where Nymph is looking

Nymph |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Ayre looks exactly where Nymph is looking
Quit staring at Yuki's butt!

Galean "Rafter" Santiago |

"Headhunters? Is this what I think it is?", whispers Galean for no reason whatsoever, attempting to sound relaxed.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20 Well, Yuki's butt is apparently quite big, taking such a big part of the scenery...

Nymph |

A rump does not necessarily have to be big to steal the scene.

DM Davy Jones |

Given Yuki's Charisma and Dexterity I picture more as shapely and well-toned. Probably my bias. Yuki apparently also needs to stop wearing form-fitting pants to allow you all to focus on other things.
Initiative (Ayre): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Initiative (Yuki): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Initiative (Galean): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Initiative (Nymph): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Initiative (Monster): 1d20 ⇒ 12
As you wander about the fields endlessly a huge pile of earth begins to rumble and a burrowing, bug-like monster erupts out of the soil. It skitters about on six legs, drooling noxious green ichor from its clacking mandibles.
It goes for Nymph (who, despite being female, probably weighs the most since Ayre is a sylph and Galean eats a lot of berries and is sixteen so he weighs like a buck ten.)
Attack (Bite): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Attack (Bite): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 Not confirmed :(
Damage (Bite): 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 4) + 4 = 13 plus Acid: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Grab (Bite): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Nymph is grappled. The surprise round is over (unless one of you can act in it) and you start at the top of initiative.
Go!

Nymph |

Distracted by... reasons, Nymph is caught off guard as another of the islands crusty inhabitants chomps on her. "F+#@! I know I taste good but damn!" she growls while poking the bug's belly with her short-stabber.
Shortsword: 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 1 - 1 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 2 + 1 = 11
Dice: 1d20 + 5 - 5 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 - 5 - 1 = 0
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 3 + 1 = 11
HP: 9/26
Okay. so I've been doing some reading and apparently you can use a natural attack alongside a melee attack at a -5 penalty... wish I knew about that earlier.
Edit: lol at that roll.

Nymph |

Well I got a 0 so I think that's worse.

Galean "Rafter" Santiago |

HEY! I'M 17!
Galean looks at the horrifying six-legged creature trying to eat Nymph, and mumbles, "Fight fire with fire... Or... You know.", as he begins chanting at the ground.
@GM, is it possible to use the Giant Ant as a lobster? Much more storm-druidy. If not, then, I guess branching out is reasonable.

Yuki Okano |

Yuki's rear is proportional to the rest of her, thank you very much. :)
While moving through the fields, Yuki begins to feel a little self-conscious, "Hey, is there something on my back?!?"
Before receiving a suitable answer, the bug monster shows up, so Yuki takes a step back and tries to fire two arrows into it.

Yup, that nodachi is cursed.
