Tobias stands up and gets all sorceress-like

"YOU HAVE NO POWER HERE!"

And the flame dissipates as nothing had happen.

I need to take Linguistics again just to pick up pirate.

A man in fine clothing sits in the corner with his feet propped up and his hat hiding his face. His chest rises and falls with deep, rhythmic breadths. He looks for all the world to be sleeping but his attention to the conversations going on couldn't be more focused. If one could see them and were really paying attention, one might see his slightly longer then human ears twitch towards a particularly juicy bit if information. It is a good thing Goblin is similar to pirate or else I would have no idea what these drooling buffoons are saying. Note to self, best learn this slack-jawed accent to fit in, in certain crowds. Could be useful. Never know. Also find this Davy Jones. Arr. Ye. Hasin. An. Bout. Hm, Papyrus Anchor? Colloquial insult?

A tall, hooded figure leans against a wall, tiny rough scales covering his muscled arms. I hope some of these fools have money, I'm lacking at the moment. I just finished up my last job, so as long as they don't want to invade tribal land, I can guide them wherever they need.

Here's my application, best of luck to everyone!

Backstory:
Nalan was set apart at birth by his heritage and appearance, which very nearly cemented his path in life long before he had any say in the matter. His coastal tribe had long awaited a champion, sent to them by the Three to protect them from the colonists and other aggressive tribes, and Nalan would be such a champion. As a boy he was trained in combat against the strongest men of his tribe, and was often sent on raiding missions against colonial outposts, which as he later learned was the beginning of his tribes involvement with the Broken.
As his talents grew, he became the most fearsome warrior of his tribe, and a ranking member of the Broken. But one day, as he snuck into the Silk District to discretely destroy a merchants wagon, in order to stop them from transporting goods to guards all around the island, he heard the whispers of guards just before he incapacitated them. They whispered of the Broken, and their savagery, and how they didn’t understand how such primitives could be so violent towards those attempting to civilize them. That night, he left enemies alive, and as they woke they remembered a whisper in their ear, “We aren’t so bad, just returning fire as we receive it.”
Regardless of his justification, those guards forced Nalan to think about what he was doing, and if it was right. He decided that he needed to continue to work against colonialism, but without the help of the Broken, in order to decrease the stigma against the Tulita and Dajobasu. Since then, he’s spent years on his own, sometimes working with various Tulita tribes to protect them from “explorers” who would destroy their homes, and sometimes working as a mercenary or sword for hire, using his natural skills and knowledge of the terrain to be a truly top-level guide. He hopes that by making himself known to both sides of the conflict, he can reduce the hatred of both sides towards each other, and begin to help his native people survive in the face of colonists who may wish to expand into tribal lands.

Appearance:
From a distance, the tall, armored man seems perfectly normal. A dark hood obscures his face, and a cloak almost entirely hides the bulges of several weapons strapped to his body. But up close, his roughly textured dark skin, furrowed eyes, and sharply pointed teeth reveal his true heritage. His face is disconcerting, his dark eyes seeming to bore into the object of his focus.
His body is no less intimidating, from the thick, ropy muscles that cover his entire body to the many tattoos that stretch across his arms, from a black wave washing over a ship to a smaller tattoo of a dolphin on the inside of his left wrist.

Personality:
He would be gruff, very confident and would likely try to force his way through a problem that he doesn’t know how to handle. He understands that he is not good at first impressions, and so will allow his friends to deal with most social encounters if possible. Once he has befriended someone, he is forever loyal, and will fiercely defend them, but at the same time he is a terrible foe to face, for he will never back down or give up.

====================
Studied Target: A slayer can study an opponent he can see as a move action. The slayer then gains a +1 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks attempted against that opponent, and a +1 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against it. The DCs of slayer class abilities against that opponent increase by 1. A slayer can only maintain these bonuses against one opponent at a time; these bonuses remain in effect until either the opponent is dead or the slayer studies a new target.
If a slayer deals sneak attack damage to a target, he can study that target as an immediate action, allowing him to apply his studied target bonuses against that target (including to the normal weapon damage roll).
At 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th levels, the bonuses on weapon attack and damage rolls, as well as the bonus to slayer ability DCs against a studied, target increase by 1. In addition, at each such interval, the slayer is able to maintain these bonuses against an additional studied target at the same time. The slayer may discard this connection to a studied target as a free action, allowing him to study another target in its place.
At 7th level, a slayer can study an opponent as a move or swift action.
Track: A slayer adds 1/2 his level (minimum 1) to Survival skill checks made to follow tracks.
Sneak Attack: At 3rd level, if a slayer catches an opponent unable to defend itself effectively from his attack, he can strike a vital spot for extra damage. The slayer's attack deals extra damage anytime his target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the slayer flanks his target. This additional damage is 1d6 at 3rd level, and increases by 1d6 every 3 levels thereafter. Should the slayer score a critical hit with a sneak attack, this additional damage is not multiplied. Ranged attacks can count as sneak attacks only if the target is within 30 feet.
With a weapon that deals nonlethal damage (like a sap, whip, or unarmed strike), a slayer can make a sneak attack that deals nonlethal damage instead of lethal damage. He cannot use a weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage in a sneak attack, not even with the usual –4 penalty.
The slayer must be able to see the target well enough to pick out a vital spot and must be able to reach such a spot. A slayer cannot use sneak attack while striking a creature with concealment.

The tanned Elf wanders slowly through the town looking intently/interestedly at seeming everything around her.

Her tanned arms and legs showing her natural inclination of being an active, outdoors kind of being. That all she wears wrapped about her tanned torso seems to be the bundle that is a silk fishing net, strategically held in place by the application of jewelry, is also indicative of her life-style choices.

Across her back rests the scabbard of a long, elegant and gracefully curved sword.

The beast pads quietly behind the lithe, tanned figure. Slinking deftly within the thin shadow of the elven creature.

Powerful haunches, their flanks a-shine with silken fur, meld smoothly into the great feathered fore-body of a powerful winged monster of prey.

Large golden orbs blink only occasionally at the many things around the beast. The creature more intent on sizing up the animals that scurry and skitter around it. Their often sudden erratic motions instinctively attracting its predatory glare.

Has the DM considered the merits of the... weapon... which has been proposed?

Here's Kattra, my changeling warlord.

Appearance:
Kattra is a small woman, barely five feet tall with her boots on, but she carries herself with a quiet confidence that has made some of the toughest bravos in Port Shaw think twice before taking her as a mark. Those foolish enough to persist have found themselves on the wrong end of one of the many knives Kattra keeps on her person. She has extremely fair skin that seems seems to neither tan nor burn, keeping the same pale complexion that has helped provide her nickname. Kattra's black hair is long, worn up when she's at sea, but when she's ashore, she allows herself to wear it down. She wears a few pieces of jewelry more as "emergency funds" more than anything, and she tends to dress in black and green, which she considers her lucky color.

Background:
Kattra grew up in the Northlands, the foster daughter of a farm couple who found the girl left in their barn one morning and raised her as their own. Her early childhood was uneventful enough, but as she grew older she began to feel a powerful urge to leave, a roaring in her head. She slipped away early one morning and made her way toward the sound of the roar, and that is how Kattra came to the sea.

She stowed away on a merchant vessel heading south, and when she was found she sweet-talked the crew into letting her stay on and work for her passage. A few days in to the trip, the merchantman was set upon by the pirate ship Fer-de-Lance. The merchant tried to outrun the pirate, with disastrous results, as the pirate Captain Gorrek ran her down and slaughtered most of the crew. Kattra was taken as a captive, with Gorrek figuring she could provide some "amusement" on the voyage.

But fate had other plans. The carnage that resulted from the attack on the merchant ship attracted the attention of a band of sahaugin, who tracked the Fer-de-Lance and attacked at dusk. The pirates suffered heavy losses in the fight, and as the fight raged Kattra didn't like her chances of talking her way out of trouble as she had her first two times, so she picked up a fallen man's sword and joined the pirates in repelling the raid. By the end of the night Gorrek saw the potential Kattra had shown, and she earned a spot as a member of the crew (a decision made easier in light of the heavy losses the pirates had suffered).

Kattra took to the life easily, and rose through the ranks to become a trusted mate of the ship. In this time she earned her nickname, "the White Wyvern", in reference to her pale skin and ferocity in battle with her twin starknives. Things went well until a recent voyage netted them some treasures from a long-lost temple to an ancient serpent god. On their way home, the Fer-de-Lance was attacked by a giant sea serpent that proceeded to destroy the vessel. The last two left alive on the deck were Gorrek and Kattra. The fearsome beast reared back and started to lunge at Kattra when it stopped, regarded her for a moment, then turned, grabbed Gorrek and took him below the waves.

Kattra got one of the ship's boats free and made her way to land. She eventually made her way back to Port Shaw, and after gathering up a few belongings she had stashed as a contingency, is now trying to plot her next move.

Personality:
Kattra had really been a bit of a thrill seeker, but her close call at the demise of the Fer de Lance has at least temporarily suppressed those urges. (In all probability she will return to the life, as focusing on that gave her an outlet for the restlessness of “the call”.) She has no real desire to captain her own ship, seeing that as responsibility she doesn’t want. She tried to avoid ‘unnecessary’ bloodshed in her time on the Fer de Lance, but once she’s offered a surrender, gods help anyone who tries to show her any resistance.

Statblock:

As I'm pasting this in, I just realized I didn't finish equipping her. :-( I swear I'll do it but it's 1am here and I'll just turn her into a train wreck if I do it now. DM, do you accept bribes in the form of P&P rules or dishes of lasagna...? :-)

When is recruitment closed exactly? At the start of Thursday or on Thursday? I'm still working on a char and it will be finished today but not yet.

Looking at a Foulspawn Tiefling Primal Companion Hunter focusing on archery. She'd be of Kamu Tulita origin but an outcast due to her tainted blood.

Awaits in high dudgeon for whom the bell tolls... (¬_¬)

Cool, actually have a level 5 already made, but I wanted to know if you would be willing to allow any 3.5 material like feats?

Sheet's been updated again.

For some reason, this brings my mind to Skarre (from Cryx/Privateer Press) and her Great Rack weapon ...

Huh?:
It's her horns, get your mind out of the gutter :P

Whom, now that I think about it, would probably been a good base for a Razor Coast character ... Darn :P

Good luck everyone! I'm very impressed with the quality of the submissions here.

appearance if you care to notice:

The first thing you notice is his alabaster skin, the second are the arcane and tribal etchings covering his arms and cheeks, then finally his distinctly elven ears

Sal'hara sits toiling in a booth in the tavern as his usual routine. Leather animal skins splayed out on the table before him, the light rhythmic tapping of a hammer against a nail accompanying his presence. While his attentions seem to be keenly focused on his task, he listens to the conversations happening in the bar.

It'd be interesting to find a GM who can manage a 20 player mostly-RP game. I see it as more possible in a PBP situation than a live session.

That'd be cool, kind of like getting 20 writers to write a whole television show. Lol!

Dark Archive

May I use my LCL 10?

Dark Archive

Sorry LCL not lcl

Dark Archive

Lvl!!!!

@William Nightmoon- you know that you can just edit the original post, right? And no, no you may not (at least, I hope not. He said lvl 5 in the creation guidelines.)

Dark Archive

Dhampir Wizard schooled in necromancy

Dark Archive

I'll just level up my sorc

NO! BAD! Only I'm allowed to submit a necromancer! If you submit one, it lowers my odds, and I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want in on this game.

Lol. Necromancy! You guys are cute. You know most people only think about that as death magic, but you've also got the life magic that makes you stronger as a necromancer if you pursue it.

Heals is where its at though if you want to be mechanically desired by the rest of your group.

the irony of sitting at an interview with 20 other people today, while also fearing the anticipation of BW's final recruitment pick of the 20 people who applied is not lost on me. Further, I'm more apprehensive about BW's decision than about my interview. Lol!

Healing isn't really my style. I wan those who've wronged me (or, to a slightly lesser extent, others) to suffer. That's why I specialize in debuffs. Soon, though, I'll be able to cast Animate Dead. Once I get that, I'll be unstoppable.

If I could figure out a way to give a Teifling in Paizo over developed horns? Yes, I'd try for a 'Skarre-esque' style of pirate.

What more fun than using undead as a buttler?

Dark Archive

I would be a mighty powerful arch-lich by the time I reach lvl 20

"I am Groot."

This is the other half to Rocket. I will update stats and fluff in a little bit.

The real punishment in vengeance against those who have wronged you is being able to maximize the duration one can experience pain... The dead feel no pain. Healing is the true blessing of Zon'Kuthon!

Er... I mean...

Balance in all things. I'm buff/debuff capable, even Necro-capable, but I still have healing.

I'm thinking that the Maw/Claws Tiefling alternative raical trait could just as well be a Gore attack with horns ... : )

And I'll take a look at your linkys for inspiration later : )

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Sunny, you are the single most annoyingly cheerful person I have never met. I sincerely hope we play together.

Ok, everyone will have to suffer for a bit longer before selections, because there is a completely b******' party going on tonight! I will likely post around 1:00 AM EST!

To break the waiting tension, here is a not-so-serious pirate video to watch, so enjoy!

GORRAMNIT!!!! I saw that you'd posted and was so excited!

This looks interesting. I'm willing to put Nightwing in

I hope this isnt a late april fools.

NOOOO! BAD! NO MORE SUBMISSIONS!

You are a pirate!

Oh, man the stout caps'n and heave with a will,

Heave a pawl, oh, heave away,

Heave away, bullies, ye parish-rigged bums,
Weigh, hey, roll and go!
Take yer hands from yer pockets and don't suck yer thumbs.
To be rollickin' randy dandy O!

Heave a pawl, oh, heave away,

The anchor's on board an' the cable's all stored,
To be rollickin' randy dandy O!

We're outward bound for Vallipo Bay,
Weigh, hey, roll and go!
Get crackin', me lads, it's a hell of a way!
To be rollickin' randy dandy O!

Heave a pawl, oh, heave away,
Weigh, hey, roll and go!
The anchor's on board an' the cable's all stored,
To be rollickin' randy dandy O!

"I am Groot" He says trying to match the tune.

And I won't be able to finish it in time, so I won't be competing for a spot after all. Good luck to you all

The small hobbit appeared suddenly out of the shadows and put a small pistol to your head. "If you are loyal to the dragoons, you'll find your brains on the pavement. Now tell me what I need to know, and your brains stay on the inside and I don't have to buy a new jacket."

As he left as suddenly as he appeared: "There is a new sheriff in town, and his name is Reggie Hamblin, now wait, that's Sidwell Collins."
