About Nini

Description:
Ninalderani Summerleaf Therianon, or Nini for short, lives for adventure and to experience new wonders. Much to the malign of her surroundings she frequently takes upon herself to create the opportunity for such endeavours should the current situation threaten to become too dull. Luckily she is also easily distracted - clever companions keep small puzzles or curiosities around for when they desire some piece of mind.

Nini is an average sized young gnome woman. Her hair and eyes are dark blue like the sky before sunrise - just before it is turned scarlet by the first rays of morning. A priest once told her that it was a good omen from Desna, but Nini herself doesn't pay it much attention. She prefers to direct her devotion to all the spirits of the wilds - not that this Desna doesn't sound like a nice gal, but gods never been her first interest.

The magic flowing in her veins is a less subtle sign of her blessing - in her dreams she can easily touch the First World and when awake she retains the power to pull energy from it. It manifests as spells to enhance and protect, as well as guardians and faë conjured into this reality.

Zivvy, her fairy protector, is another story. A creature fully formed by her own subconscious dreams and thoughts his personality is similar but different. Where she is curious and reckless, the dragon is careful and restrained. Where she is oblivious he is watchful. More then once has his careful eye saved Nini from heaps of trouble.

He takes the shape of a large dog-sized dragon with comically undersized arms, legs and wings. His scales appears to take the shape of a shimmering rainbow, but is truth are verdant green. The dragons expression is friendly but often slightly worried - no doubt Nini's fault. He carries some of his closest possessions in a pouch on a loop around his neck.

Journey:

It was the thirty-first day. But also the last. Or so she hoped. The ship had set out on its journey a little bit over a month ago. And now land was finally in sight! The cries of the lookouts had awoken her from her hiding place a few hours earlier, and now she was standing on the deck cloaked in a spell of invisibility. Well, technically, she was a few feets above, in the rigging. There was a small crowd of excited sailors blocking her view otherwise. If I squint - I can almost make out the buildings of Port Shaw!

She could almost sing of joy! But she didn't - she doubted the sailors had forgotten the incident last week. She had stubbed her toe sneaking around in the holds - and the resulting yelp had the sailors search the ship doubly over in the middle of the night. Heh - they almost found me too! There had been talk of ghosts and sirens ever since. She smiled. They had set out offerings for the sea gods every day since! Which were delicious!

The last few hours until the ship was safely docked in the port was painfully long. But finally, a few hours after noon, Nini managed to make her way off the ship. No doubt the seamen would be glad to be rid of the sprite that had haunted them over the last few weeks. She made her way up the winding streets of the harbour district until she found a quiet alley where she could drop the invisibility spell and summon Zivvy. She hadn't seen her companion in flesh for over a month now - and it was long overdue!

The dragon eagerly answered her summons and stirred from the First World into hers. Not more then a minute later he was standing on his tiny legs on the hard cobblestone, a few of his glittering scales reflecting the scarce light of the alley. Nini immediately threw herself at him and wrapped her arms around his thick neck. "I've missed you so much Zivvy! Next time we buy a ticket!" The dragon replied in kind "I've missed you too!" and struggled to return the hug with his short arms. His eyes however eyed their surroundings suspiciously. He didn't like alleys. All manner of scary thing usually made their lair here - rats, pickpockets and murderers! "Tell me again why we had to come here?" The gnome laughed "Don't be coy ! All the adventure is supposed to be around here dummy!" and pulled the dragon out towards the streets proper, in search for adventure! Or more urgently, a place to get a good meal. Sighing, Zivvy followed.
