I don't buy that for a second. Your ability says the weapon gains the effects of a property rune and the only reason why you may think the listed runes wouldn't work with a ranged weapon is because they all say "etched on a melee weapon". You're never etching a rune onto a weapon, you're gaining effects similar to a rune but that isn't actually a rune and is never etched on to your weapon

To be clear, every round I'm moving so that I'm within 15' of someone I want to protect and 15' of where the enemy needs go attack from, so I am milking my Retributive Strike (Ranged Reprisal). My builds may be suboptimal but I still make the most of them. I'm not out to make comically inept characters.

And most of the time, I'm actually trying to make decent characters, just with weird starting points, like, "barbarian healer." I'll make the best barbarian healer I can make!

I could swear I read that you didn't have Ranged Reprisal. Nevermind--I think your PC sounds well within the bounds.

--

I didn't notice that all of the property runes mentioned in divine ally are typically only inscribed into melee weapons. That feels like an oversight.

I wonder, has anyone bought a race and an ancestry on the same character? Like a Ganzi Hobgoblin, or a Aasimar Fleshwarp, etc?

No, Watery Soup, he's judging my character based on the half-sentence I used to make a point that, yes, you can play characters that don't take "the best" feat for their archetype and still be OK in PFS.

He does make my point that what degree of deviation from maximum is tolerated depends upon the person.

There is at least one scenario where that particular feat is specifically called out and can be very helpful, depending on what else you have in the party.

ancestry / heritage** but yes!

My 2012 is a fleshwarp beastkin animal instinct barbarian

Ah, yes, I found it in your post. I haven't played alongside your PC or looked at your build--maybe they're fine--but if they're a *Paladin* (as opposed to a Redeemer or Liberator) it seems like you're leaving a lot on the table for your party in terms of never being able to reduce damage for them or do other Champion reaction type things, and sometimes leaving a primary class feature on the table like that can be the difference between a mission failure/success or even one or more PC deaths. That's all.

Ok, you can't tell us that you made a math joke without telling us the math joke. That is just ... completely unethical. :) Joke tax please.

Mrs. Perkins's quilt familiar is a Mrs. Perkins's Quilt quilt.

Followed the link. Didn't understand...

Went off for some random surfing. Couldn't stand it. Came back. Still didn't understand.

Frustrated. More random surfing. Came back. Finally enlightenment...

So what is n-value of Mrs Perkins' Mrs Perkins' Quilt quilt familiar? :)

Can we go ahead and start introducing our characters for our gameday games?

You can introduce your characters. GMs just can't post box text until start time.

Ways in which my characters would be accused of desecrating the game:
2001: Alchemist, by far the most-complained about Core class.
2002: Archer champion, I can't use Divine Ally on my primary weapon.
2003: 14 DEX / 10 CON sorcerer with the universally agreed worst spell tradition (divine). I was going to go 10 DEX / 10 CON but I chickened out.
2004: Melee oracle. Admittedly, this one was actually a bad idea. But I figured it out before second level so I rebuilt them.
2006: Orc investigator. Yup, the STR boost is useless.
2007: Baba Yaga Witch created entirely to make a math joke.
2008: This would probably be the character the min-maxers point to and say, "Even a stopped clock is right twice a day."
2009: 10' land speed. 'nuff said.

My kitsune redeemer of Nalinivati has 5 lore skills, two of which I had to spend skill picks on. Kitsune Lore from feat, mercantile lore from background, scribing lore from school. But then I also picked up snake lore (because I have a snake companion and wanted to have an associated skill and finally one which I am almost certain will never come up, mochi lore because that's what she sells.

Would the following players check in for Year of Shattered Sanctuaries:

Pirate Rob (Rhizzuk)
PaleDim (Voron Keyphyra)
Palandri (Mimi de Valence) DONE
Abraham Z. (Evindal Mog)
MauveAvngr (TBD)

What's a scenario with the "Exclusive" tag?

UncleFroggy wrote:

Exclusive: Scenarios with this tag have running requirements outside the standard one table environment. Scenarios with this tag include specific rules on who is eligible to run it and where and how it can be run.

The above is quoted from Scenario Tags

Samples would be the various multi-table specials (minimum number of tables) or scenarios that require a certain number of glyphs before you can run them. I don’t believe PF2 has any restricted by glyphs yet, but both first edition Pathfidner and Starfinder have scenarios restricted in this way.

So pretty much, for PF2 it's just the special... I was looking at the OP Guide regarding a 5-glyph GM -- granted that it's gonna take me a long time to get there... :)

2-24 Breaking the Storm also counts towards your 10 specials because it has the Glyph tag.

Hello,

I wrote up Giles in the character profile according to the powerpoint instructions, could someone take a look at see if it is correct? I'm not in any PbP's yet. Also, I can't get the [dice] tags to work correctly.

Dice tags should be formatted like this: [dice=Test]1d20+5[/dice

(close the last bracket I left open so it wouldn't actually roll)

I tried with and without extra spaces in the equation, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Does it only work in the forums and not on the profile page?

Grand Lodge

He/Him

That's right. It won't roll on your profile page, which is helpful in that it allows you to keep common dice expressions there that you can copy and paste.

Grand Lodge

He/Him

If you want to test them out, you could head over to the Gameplay tab and introduce yourself in character, including some sort of dice roll.

There's a slight disagreement in one of my discord games on whether Quests grant school items or not. Every quest I've played granted one but someone said that only scenarios grant consumables. Which is it, really?

This changed from season 2 to season 3 and some GM's/players may not be aware of the change.

Prior to season 3 school consumables were given "at the beginning of each adventure" and quests are considered a type of adventure.

Starting with season 3, school consumables state "in a pathfinder society scenario [...]" and since it says scenario and not adventure, school consumables are only granted during scenarios.

TLDR - quests no longer give school consumables.

Male Human

That's good to know -- planning to try running Port Peril Pub Crawl... just not sure whether it will be here or on Discord...

Does anyone know what the best way to give players audio would be? I'm thinking of linking Soundcloud or a Youtube video, but if anyone has a better idea, please let me know!

Define “give players audio” a little better.

* are you just looking to provide background music/sound effects?
* are you looking to allow your own voice to be heard
* are the players allowed to speak to you and/or other players?

It seems to me YouTube and SoundCloud would only allow for the first option. Something like Discord/Teams//Jitsi Meet would allow for all three although it may not work as well for the first. A lot of VTTs have the ability to provide audio as well, either for background sound effects or chat.

B19 Grim Tidings ||

I'm running Extinction Curse and wanted to make audio for the actual circus bits so that they can hear the circus music, tricks, and my voice as the announcer. I did all the audio editing, voice recording, etc., but now I'm trying to decide how best to give the players what I made.

Masculine (He/Him) Software Engineer

You could post the .mp3 on Google drive or something similar.

I'm going with this idea for now then! I always forget Drive has its own player for audio and video.

I hate my voice for this, but I think it's still fun to give to players in a PbP game!

Map: -- | -- | ◆ ◇ ↺ |

I have been experimenting with this recently. I used Audacity to create the audio file because it is free and widely considered rock solid. Took a little bit of learning to figure out how to add multiple tracks, eliminate background noise, etc but there's a lot of youtube tutorials to help get going.

I also have a syrinscape account I use for my VTT games and I captured the audio from that to bring into Audacity (a process which i did using Voicemeeter Banana to capture the output from Syrinscape and record it as an input in Audacity). Of course if you have the mp3/audio files for your other tracks you can just add those directly in as well.

And then for hosting I put the files on my onedrive and shared that way.

B19 Grim Tidings ||

Yep, I used Audacity and free sound effects to make the mp3. I don't use syrinscape or any VTT though, just a Google Slides GM.

Does it actually fill out the Chronicle Sheets for you? If so, this is the greatest tool for PbP for me since I discovered PbP. My least favorite part of GMing is the paperwork.

The one issue is that if there are 2 boons (e.g. Port Peril Pub Crawl), it doesn't cross out the other boon. You'd need to manually do it yourself. I also don't know if it will check off boxes (like in 1-12). There might be some manual work needed for those cases, but still better than filling out the entire Chronicle by hand! :)

Dark Archive

Scenario and AP Tracker

It will not check off boxes nor cross out items and boons that you did not receive so there is a small bit of manual work that still needs done. But, RPG Chronicles will fill in all of the GM's event information and gold received.

Suggestion: Can you make the email field hidden characters like a password? I know many people are not comfortable sharing their email online in an easily visible way, and making it a hidden field would make it more likely to be utilized.

Awesome tool. Thanks!

Grand Archive

I have a Baba Yaga Witch at level 1 right now, and I want to flavor my familiar as a Grimoire that only I can read; anyone else sees blank pages.

I'm currently planning on giving it "Speech," where lines of text appear in the book that it speaks aloud simultaneously and Skilled for various Lore skills.

With Kitsune having the option to have a pet rock as a familiar, is there any reason I can't nerf my familiar by removing its ability to move on its own to make it a book? I'm considering making it a Poppet so that it has the Constructed and Flammable traits as that feels pretty appropriate.

| Extinction | url= |

I guess technically, you don't need to "nerf" it at all. Nothing says the construct book can't flap along at a decent clip, and if you don't want it to walk, it doesn't walk.

Dark Archive

Baba Yaga can choose inanimate object which does not need a movement speed. You could also choose touch telepathy is another idea.

The player name, email, paizo id, and discord name are all already hidden from everyone besides the player that entered them and the GM! Everything below the light grey line on a signup slot disappears if you weren't the one that entered it. It's not something you'd notice unless you've signed up as a player to some other games.

Privacy was one of the concerns that went in to all of this, I wouldn't want my info floating around out there either.
