Concluding Schloss Caromarc

You have now pretty much completed Schloss Caromarc. Congratulations on a major accomplishment... and on leveling up!

You all level up to level 8 after your next long rest! :D

I'd like to see your updated "character sheets" within the next week or so. Feel free to write it up in your Paizo character's profile and/or send me a sheet link or file, as you wish. And don't forget to update your stat blocks (in your profiles).

The time is currently somewhere between 1 and 2am. You're all tired from a very long day. Feel free to roleplay, discuss what you just found, etc., as you wish until my next post in about a week.

I'm planning to write up a fast forward post in the near future, probably for next time in about a week. If any of you wanted to re-explore anything in the castle for any reason though, feel free to say so, I won't rush you.

Unless you indicate otherwise, I'll assume you all take a breather, catch up with your horses, take a long rest overnight (if not in this creepy castle, you can choose to camp out or whatever, just let me know), and find and cross the bridge further north (upriver) which the Count mentioned before his death. Unless you have other ideas, I will move things up to the hunting trail in Shudderwood Forest which Judge Daramid had suggested you take to reach Ascanor Lodge, the trail being the necromancer Auren Vrood's most likely path.

Thanks all. And don't forget to update your profile stat blocks, too.

I'm having a really busy couple of weeks again. I'm planning to review and post again Sunday.

Long term, I am expecting to be a more consistent poster again. Just working a full-time job, a part-time job, and still wrapping up intermittent work from the job I was supposed to leave in March, not to mention other personal stuff going on, LOL. The latter two will get better (eventually...) and I should be able to pick up the pace again then. Thank you for your patience!

So much for posting today. Sorry all, I just got in and I need to wake up early for work tomorrow. I will move the game forward as soon as I possibly can.

Hey everyone. Just checking in for now. I've got a lot going on still. I'm definitely not disappearing on you all, don't worry! Sooner or later I'll get back into the swing of things.

Ok... I believe I can get things starting up again tomorrow at some point. I can't guarantee it, but the odds are with us for a change.

Thanks for hanging in there everyone!

If anyone hasn't yet, remember to level up your character to level 8. Also please update your profile stat block to reflect your new level.

In case it affects your choices or preparations, here's a heads up that I'll be fast forwarding the game to Shudderwood Forest the next morning.

I've got more to post, but the site is acting wonky and I was only able to get one up correctly. I'll try to post the rest later today.

Game Master -- Carrion Crown (Current Map)

At last, the game is back on!

I'll probably go back to posting at a rate of once weekly on weekends now. Assuming you are mostly posting just as frequently, if not moreso.

As an aside, this technically begins part 1 of book 3 of Carrion Crown. That's why there's a book 3 announcement post. The last meeting with Judge Daramid and navigating Schloss Caromarc were intermediary adventures between the two books that I was inspired to create, based on the introductory materials from book 3. Our earlier party missed out on some critical information, so this presented me with an opportunity to avoid an aimless wandering party situation, or at the other extreme a party that goes into the Shudderwood just because the GM told them to.

No worries Christoph. It's been quite the spring/summer for me between work and personal issues going on. There's definitely been progress though. That was a long absence for me, but I suspect the rest of us will return, sooner or later.

I'll probably move the game forward this weekend, give everyone some more time.

Nothing against any of you, absolutely not, you're the best.

I completely understand, Naught.

I'm very sorry to see you go, though. We've been in this game together with Zelda since February 2014?! Here's our original Carrion Crown game.

For those who do not know, Naught, Zelda, and I originally began as players accepted into a new Carrion Crown game back in 2014. The original GM disappeared almost immediately. One of the other players took over and started a new game thread (this one) and named it Carrion Crown Blues, I think because we were sad the original GM left, LOL. He then left partly through the first book. Another player then took over as GM, and got us further along to the conclusion of book two before also leaving. I then took over a few years ago to keep things going.

It's been a lot of fun, Naught. You're truly a great roleplayer, and I hope to game with you again one of these days.

* hugs Naught back *

Pending the GM's approval for appearing in the game thread

Something above in the trees:

Eyes watch the group surrounding the fire below resting in the small clearing between the great tree trunks of the forest.

"I know Chauncy...right?" They whisper to the animal upon which they are currently mounted, gear and equipment bundled onto the saddle adorning the great beast's body, even as they soothingly pat their mount upon its snout.

"Maybe they can be helpin' wiff which way ta' tha' town whut's on our map, hey?"

Perrception:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

Suddenly a sound from further away in the forest reaches their ears.

"Ooo! Was at?" And with a shift of their weight, a tightening of their knees, they urge thier mount to move off in this new direction.

The creature's size and strength allowing it to reach from tree branch to tree branch.

Innate climb speed of 20'

Chauncy climb skill:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32 Too move 'At speed' through the tree tops in the noise's direction.

Sunny's ride skill:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

Survival:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

LOL no worries Sunny. You're right about dotting, and while I had something else in mind, actually this is a way cooler appearance so, by all means, feel free to start posting in the gameplay thread! :)

Map Update. Everyone, I just updated the map (click Current Map in my profile). I'll try to get a pointer indicating "You are here", but I'll describe for now that you're approximately at the apostrophe in the word "Troll's Tail", just southeast of said river. The faint gray dotted trail from Schloss Caromarc through Ascanor Lodge and on to Chastel is the Silent Path, the hunting trail you're on.

A Sunny prologue 1:

The tropical sun's white orb gradually moves across a distant, blue vault.

The island juts from the ocean. A curved blade of jumbled rock, it's rough face arcing in a protective bow away the distant clouds that never stop roiling on the far horizon.

The susuration of waves washing apon blinding white sands is faint even compared to the cries of the sea birds who's pinions ride the faint breeze. The lush jungle foliage an emerald green as it sweeps up from the find sands, clutching at the island's rocky slopes.

Within the jungles foliage, barely visible where the jungle's eaves become sparser at the trees clutch at the fine sands.

The ship's prow slices cleanly through the ocean's clear waters. Dipping and raising as the shallow swell rolls through the ocean. The Captian of the ship smiles, nodding to their crew. The Navigator's expresion reflecting the confidence they have in thier maps and skills.

The island that the topsl look out had called people's attention to an hour ago vindication that both fate and thier skills had brought them back to this place.

Nothing seems to stir upon the island, veven as sthe ship maneuvers into the great, shallow bay. Reefing sails and dropping anchors. Unknown to the crew, the isnald is subtly vibrating. So faint a rumble as to be inaudible, barely felt through the soles of the feet.

The crew finish thier tasks. The ship set to tug at her anchor rope. Most line the railing, watching out towards the sandy shore and the isnald's jungle. From some where amongst the jungle's foliage a horn sounds and groups of tanned body's either drag long, narrow boats towards, or simply race into the bay's waters. The native's distant cries of welcome broadening the smiles of the crew even more.

Dang! The hour time out got me before I could finish editing the rest. Ah well, the ideas are writing themselves pretty much as I'm typing them any who.

A Sunny prologue 2:

Jamson watched as the various piles set along the beach slowly changed. The creates and bundles they'd brought slowly being sorted through, the contents being discussed in the musical language of the natives along with the various crew folk who sometimes had to interject with a better explanation what it was that had caught a prostective procurer's attnetion. With the locals leaving what it was the crew agreed upon had the equivalent value of what ever the native's had to offer.

Leaning against the curved trunk, a slightly bemused smile upon thier lips, they were hapy that thier idea for suitalbe 'Trade' items had worked out so well. At thier hip a large stout leather pouch held a huge quantity of pearls. The native whom they'd done thier exchange with seeming happy with a trade of one item for another.

That Jameson had realised there might just be something of 'Value' in thier trade items to the native and that, seemingly, none of their crew mate's had twigged too showed some of the stranger idiosyncrasy's of the natives thought of AS value was what had Jamson is such a good mood. TO which they were keeping said very succesful and lucrative idea close to their chest such that, weather and tides forgiving, when they made the return trip yet another pouch of pearls might be awaiting.

"What cha doin'?" A tanned local enquired in the clipped patwa they'd managed to learn in their version of the 'Common' Human tongue. The accent changing Jamson's smile to a more rueful curve.

When most of the crew had tried to learn the local's dialect, much of the times it had ended up with the natives brightly laughing and or giggling at their attempts. The crew knew the local's spoke Elvish, it just semed that they didn't have quite the tolerance for other peopele's attempts at speaking the elven words.

Only Razza, Half elve himself, could manage a lot of the finer sounds and even he had given up seeming embarrased that these tanned, wood and string weilding locals could manage it better. Something that they would gently and politely try and explain to the Half-elf.

"Oh, just enjoying the view." Jamson replied, their gaze returning to the bartering going on. The native stepped closer, quick, deft motions reminding Jamson of maybe dancer... or a bird. The local turned and looked as well. Shrugging a shoulder.

"Aye. Well, yer ship's got quite tha nice line's ta' her." Thier eyes settling on the more distant vessel where she bobbed at anchor. That seeming the strangest in the locals' mind and not the haggling and chattering at the good's piles on the beach.

Jamson couldn't supress a chuckle.

"Whut?" Came the local's question. Curiosity being something the native Elves seemd to have by the bucket load.

"Oh... Just that, our eyes seem to see things differently." They tried to explain, though Jamson could see by the tilt of their interlocutor's head that thier wordy repsonce probalby hadn't actually done much.

The Elf lass, and her bare nature left nothing to doubt about that, blinked now gazing directly into Jamson's own brown eyes.

"Well...." She spoke slowly, obviously working the sounds through her mind before exclaiming, "Your's is wood an' mine is sea." She grinned brightly having presented words that she thought were correct.

"Brown," Jamson pointed to themselves, "Blue" They finished pointing to the lass. Who's innocent gaze took on an even more amazed expression.

"Ahhh. 'Brown', 'Blue'." She repeated, even mimicing Jamson's pointing. She stared back at Jamson intently "I wan' learn speakin' better!" She declared. To which Jamson arched an eyebrow.

"Oh. Lessons is it?" The lass nodded vehemently.

"Aye! Like sayin' tha' greetin' words whut like th' Cap'n an' tha' Elder bin doin'!" The lass could see that her speach, while she knew Jamson could understand her, obvious expression divulged thier poor quality.

"Well then, that's a 'Service'." Jamson noted and they could see the realisation dawn on the lass.

"But... I gives ye all'a pearls I bin founded?" She looked to Jamson's belt, a brown toe digging cirles in the sand as she pondered the situation. "I din't thunk I'd be want'in nuthin' more from tha' foke." She looked at Jamson with large, innocent blue eyes.

"Hmmmm... well, it's getting to dusk. Maybe we can wander some where and... arainge some thing other than just pearls as trade?" Jamson offered to which the lass bounced with glee at the prospect of working out an exchange.

"Aye! But people's an kin be movin' ta' tha' cookin' pit fer. fiddles... un, no, uhmmm..." She stumbled over a word.

"Vittles?" Jamson offered to which she nodded greatfully

"Aye! Eatin' stuffs." The pair already sauntering over to where the tribe had spent the dya organizing a great feast in honour of the guests who'd arrived by sea.
