Just trying to get the cast straight.
for pc we have:

abshail
majest
carys'n
we have 2 gm pc:
sari
shadak
We have npc's with us:
jask: human male ex prisoner
sasha: human female
aerys: half-elf female fellow drinker
gelik: gnome with a lot of stories
Other npc's:
cook: dead
first mate: dead
captain: insaine and missing
Ieana: object of captains insane writing missing
Ishirou: npc listed in players guide no mention of this person anywhere.
Is he in camp and just been quiet or is he missing as well??
If I am missing anything or have anyone listed wrong could i get a correction?

Aside from some spelling errors you have it pretty much right. :)
As for Ishirou, he's not going to be in the campaign. I substituted Shadak in his place because I liked him better.
This is also a good time to cover a few things about the NPCs. Primarily, that there are certain mechanics involved with them.
Relationship - Each IC day, you can make a diplomacy check to improve your relationship with each NPC. As the party's relationship with them improves, they will be more willing to help out with things around camp. Each of them have 'camp roles' that they can perform if your relationship with them is improved enough.
Morale - each of them also has a morale level. Currently they are 'shaken'. Each IC day I'll roll a morale check for them. If it gets too low, that is bad. The only thing you can do to effect this is to use certain 'camp roles'. I'll be posting the rules for camp up ASAP.

cool only change then is to move shadak from gm pc to npc list. I just wanted to get it all written down cause was getting a bit confused about who was what where!
Baaa it all passed the spell checker and that is the only way i can spell. You would think that someone that reads as much as i do would be a good speller but you would be thinking wrong!

Firstly - When you make an NPC at least indifferent, they will help around camp. There are five roles that the NPCs can fill, and each is willing to do one of two. For instance, Shadak will do Hunter or Defender. The roles are as follows. To fill a roll, the NPC must be dedicated to that, which basicly means he can't do two but also that he can't go exploring or pretty much do anything else. He is filling that roll.
Defender: A defender works to set traps, shore up a shelter’s walls, and see to the safety of the campsite. The first time in a day that a wandering monster or hostile creature attacks the campsite, the defender’s traps inflict 2d6 points of damage—divide the damage done as equally as possible among all attackers. Each additional defender assigned to a campsite increases this damage by 2d6.
Entertainer: An entertainer helps to raise hopes for rescue — each entertainer grants NPCs a +2 bonus on Will saves to increase morale.
Guard: Each guard reduces the chance of a wandering monster attacking the camp during the day or night by 5% (minimum chance of 5%).
Hunter: Each hunter provides enough food and water for eight Medium creatures per day.
Medic: Each medic reduces the chance of being exposed to disease by 5% and increases the number of hit points healed naturally during a night’s rest in the camp by 2.
There are three big things that you need to worry about. Food, Heat, and Disease. (Jask can provide all the drinking water you need with Create Water)
A camp helps with two of those. With your skills and the number of people, you can build a secure campsite in an hour. So that takes care of that.
Food - Dedicating an NPC to hunting will take care of most of your food needs. Two of them will more than cover it. If one of you wants to pick up the slack than this is how it's done. 4 hours of hunting and foraging allow a character to attempt a Survival check. With a DC 10 success, a character provides enough food and water for himself— every 2 points by which he exceeds this DC provides food and water for an additional character.
Heat - It is the height of summer, and despite frequent rainfall, the days can become very hot for 3 hours from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. (see page 444 of the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook for
rules on hot conditions). A character can avoid having to make Fortitude saving throws against the heat’s effects by spending those hours in shade or shelter and not taking part in strenuous activity—but even one combat is enough to trigger a Fortitude save for hot conditions.
Disease - Smuggler’s Shiv is rife with biting f lies, mosquitoes, gnats, ants, and other pests—many of which carry disease. Each day at sundown, each PC has a 25% chance of being exposed to disease. Sleeping in a shelter reduces the chance of exposure to any disease to 15%.
Once a campsite is established, it provides a safe place to rest out of the relentless heat of the sun, while the shelter and smoke from a campfire helps to ward off insects (reducing the chance of being exposed to disease to 10% per day).
Any questions, please ask. I want this to be understood by everyone. You should be able to set up a routine that takes care of all needs and allows you to keep moving towards your destination at whatever pace you want.

just going to post an option and anyone that wants to poke holes in it feel free.
start day at 6am breakfast and break camp
travel from 7am till 12pm
lunch and rest from 12pm to 3pm
travel from 3pm till 7pm
set up camp from 7pm till 8pm
eat/sleep/rest from 8pm till 6am
we have 3 npc with good enough moral to help:
shadak - hunter we can get extra food needed at least for a while from what we got from ship and our personal stores.
sasha - guard or entertainer (if we choose entertainer might get the other two npc up and working quicker??)
Jask - medic (medic will reduce disease chance down to 5% along with the camp bonus)
If Ilarian can use his wand to give us a horse to carry any of the heavy items from the ship. (food, canvas, and possibly the rope and wood we use to set the canvas up as tents.) don't think he can give us all horses without running out of charges real quick.
O GM how much food did we get from the ship enough for xxx meals?
We have 6 player characters. (including gmpc) To keep it simple set up watches from 7pm when we start to set up camp until 7am when we start travel. IRL would rotate the schedule but it shouldn't matter too much as is not.
7-9 Ilarian
9-11 Carys'n
11-1 Majest
1-3 Kabur
3-5 Sarai
5-7 Abshail
That gives all t he spell casters 8 hours to take care of spell recovery.
Anyone with modifications or other ideas??

Sounds fine to me. One correction though. Sasha can do either hunter or defender. I'd let her hunt with Shadak. That means they're pulling in food enough for 16, plenty for the party.
Looks like a good watch schedule, though I didn't look at it from a caster point of view. At least Sarai is fine with it. Still traveling 9 hours, and resting during the heat of the day.
Carys'n Euraid Saeth |
Seems solid enough to me.
So we can improve the morale of the other NPCs, Aerys and Gelik, yes? Getting those two will hopefully gives us an entertainer and another defender/guard?
Carys can also help with water, food and possibly medic stuff if need be.
Can PCs also fill the roles as well to add bonuses?
Abshail |
That watch order seems fine to me. The travel schedule seems problematic as there's not really any time allotted for hunting, on the assumption that hunting in the heat is a bad idea. Also, are the roles exclusive, like if you have Shadak set to hunt is he also available to set up traps?
I'm willing to help with the hunting, I've got a relatively respectable Survival skill.
Atapax |
The roles are for NPCs only. If you are traveling and you have someone set to Hunt, say Shadak, I assume that they are hunting while you travel. During breaks, moving ahead or out a bit to hunt then catching up when you stop, that kind of thing. So no worries there.
An NPC can only do one role in a day. You can of course change them from day to day, but once it's set, it might be easier to just keep it that way.
Yes, you can adjust the other two NPCs and get them on board. That's the diplomacy rolls. Their morale is separate from that, but possibly more critical. Once your relationship with an NPC goes up, it's unlikely to go down. Morale can go up and down easily as it's a will save every day. Morale will change how effective the NPCs are as well as some other things.
Nothing is stopping any of you from hunting or whatever, but you may have other things to be worrying about. Like doing the actual exploration and fighting if it comes to it. You can enlist the other NPCs to fight as well, but that takes a good relationship with them, otherwise they fight to survive.
All that make sense?

Alrighty, as soon as I get confirmation from some people, I'll get this ball rolling once again. As I recall you were enroute and had just saw some flying dinosaur type things and one of the NPCs had said how she'd love to have one. It might take me a bit to get all my thoughts and notes sorted again, but I think I should be good by the time everyone chimes in.

I didn't get an email, just so ya know. But I checked the board every week, so no harm done! Also, I thought to make Ilarian's alighnment Lawful instead of Chaotic. I thought it fit better with what I'm trying to do.
Sweet! Does this mean Mandy might join us as well?
Even so, If we've got 4 if you count my NPC, so we should be good to go here soon.
Ilarian, what email address are you using now?

Ok, sorry to do this to you guys, but RL is heating up again. Work is picking up, and as I prepare to start up classes for my Masters I'm getting more heavily into my own writing. (The masters is in creative writing) This time I'm doubting I'd be able to come back at all. There's just too much going on with no end in sight. I wanted to thank you all for the great RP and I really hope that you can continue and keep this game alive.
