Sorry but Ibroke my computer laptop when my girlfriend broke up with me this weekend. This is from my ps3 browser. I had high hopes for this but all hopes of mine are going to have to change. Goodbye.

Well, first, I'd need to know whether you want to follow the ranger animal companion list RAW. That list includes only badger, bird, camel, cat (small), dire rat, dog, horse, pony, snake (viper or constrictor), or wolf. Roc has a comment in its description from which you can infer that rangers can specifically bond with them as well.
Alternately, you can houserule and open it up to the full druid animal companion list. PF devs have said that rangers are intended to have a very restrictive list because they are better in combat than druids. However, the other side of the argument is, look at clerics and inquisitors with the animal domain, and fey-blooded sorcerers - they have access to the full list.
Please don't feel like I'm trying to pressure you to go the houserule route - I can find a companion I will enjoy, regardless. That said, if you do houserule, then I would need to find out how you feel about dinosaurs in your world. An allosaurus would be my preferred companion, if you're not against them.
If you don't go with the houserule option, then my other choices are roc, wolf, or cat (small).
Drewan Shadowson
I suppose, considering that Drewan is already a particularly wanted catfolk, drawing extra attention is likely not a great idea. How common are rocs, wolves, and small cats (leopards, cheetahs, etc.) as animal companions, and how likely are they to go relatively unnoticed in an urban setting like Coran?
Drewan Shadowson
The built in limitations seem kind of pointless to me
First off, sorry for revisiting this. I realize I'm likely overthinking this, but when you say this, does that mean Drewan can have whatever companion he'd like? I mean, ideally, he'd take a big cat - pounce, rake, grab, plus 3 attacks a round, what's not to like?
Second choice would be between a wolf and a roc. Wolf has trip, which is pretty good, but one attack a round is a little rough. Roc has grab, flight, and 3 attacks/round.
Thoughts? Anyone?
Dev
Hmm. I have to say just pick something that Drewan would like as a companion!
Just remember that if you want to bring a tiger or anything as large/rare along, it'll be very visible.
Drewan Shadowson
Drewan gains a level of Ranger:
HP (FCB): 1d10 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 + 1 = 12
Saves: +1 Fort, +1 Ref
Hunter's Bond: Gonna go with a large cat - a black jaguar.
For the moment (until next level, at least, when I pick up Boon Companion), Drewan will be leaving the cat behind on missions. A couple of questions, however...
- Is there anything we're doing for money these days, or have we earned any since we started? I've got to buy barding, masterwork if possible, which will cost a bit, plus (eventually) a saddle, etc.
- I'm assuming that my companion does not come with any tricks other than the bonus one (track). Drewan has +10 to Handle Animal checks for his companion, however, so should be able to train him for combat by taking 10. It'll take 6 weeks, however, so you'll need to tell me when that's done.

Sorry for the delay in posting, have been busy as of late. Probably won't find the time to make a full post with what Dev wants to do until weekend, but basically my thoughts:
Dev would rather stay in town and follow some of the Captain's suggestions (especially some more resources).
Our group has a large amount of social pull, making covert city operations our forte. Recruitment, disruption of supply lines, capture and blackmail . . . our team is good at that!
Starting our own resistance movement seems too costly--and besides, if the mages are late in arriving due to our efforts in the city, there's a high chance of unrest in the town anyway. (Dev doesn't really care as long as those who he cares about in Gumlat are safe.) And a scroll of teleportation sounds like something to use only if we're sure of what we want to do.
Immediate action would be, in my opinion, our best bet. We've got a host of things to choose from, not all of them dangerous. Digger can get to recruitment right away. Jake can start convincing the Merchant's guild of the opportunity while Puck (and Drewan) steal and disrupt/disable. Dev and Hazan can provide muscle and back-up, even outright assassination if it becomes necessary.
That is to say, stir up trouble but avoid making it apparent that we're causing it.
And speaking of trouble, there's been a lot of mention of that Drow. Seems like something worth looking into, if only for the amount of attention it'll bring to him. That may or may not be a good thing, but it'll definitely cause a ruckus with the guard. Depending on what we find, we can either direct him to the rebellion or set him on his own way to cause trouble for us.
Drewan Shadowson
Okay, so it seems that my suggestion to break up the group has had unintended consequences (e.g., we're at a standstill). If you all would prefer, let's just pick the top priority and do everything as a group.
My personal preference would be to have Drewan (or Dev) forge an official-looking document, go to Tiny Town, bribe/blackmail an official to get the appropriate seal, stamp it, and deliver it.
That's the most immediate need, I think.

(I posted this is the recruitment thread, but I am not sure if I was supposed to once a campaign starts)
I stumbled upon this campaign while learning about pbp. I am new to it, but have been playing role playing games for some time and Pathfinder for a couple years. Do you happen to have an opening for this game? Is it OK that I posted in this thread?

Posting in the discussion thread is fine. There is not currently an opening for this game, though we've had a bit of a lull due to summer activities, holidays, and so forth.
I am waiting for one player, Hazan, to check in again. If he doesn't return for some reason then I would have an opening jules1. If that occurs I will send you a private message.
And I can't remember if I mentioned it to this group or not, but all four groups are down to 5 players each now for various reasons - medical, family issues, lack of time, etc, along with Rocosmia's situation which you know of.
jules1
GM Ascension let me know there may be an opening in the group. He asked me to go ahead and build a sixth level character. I would like to get the opinion of the group on which role is most needed to bring balance. It appears you currently have:
(Face/Skills) Charlatan Rogue, (Arcane Caster) Summoner, (Skills) Eidolon, (Arcane Caster) Summoner, (Melee) Eidolon, (Switch Hitter) Ranger/Rogue.
I am open to anything. I was thinking maybe a debuffing witch, Melee Combatant, or a Divine caster.
Hopefully it will work out and I will be able to join you all soon. Cheers! ~Jules

I say make whatever character you'd like! We're a flexible bunch and we're currently more suited to espionage and strategic fighting than direct combat. That means we're we're weaker on the combat front (especially if we get caught off-guard), so you may be interested in such a role (though we're currently avoiding outright fights as much as possible, so keep that in mind).
A melee tank or a divine caster/healer would fill up some roles (specifically Hazan's who you're replacing). Not being horrible at Stealth or Bluff is also recommended, but it's up to you as to what character you think would fit in.
Also, nice ta meetcha.
Jake the Rat
Dev summed it up well. I would agree with the try not to be horrible with Stealth and bluff, we have plenty of experts in both so you don't need to be (but could be if you like). On the topic of avoiding fights make sure you have aspects of your character that are fun to play outside of combat.
Drewan Shadowson
Just to add (slightly) to what the others said - consider the type of stuff we're likely to do, and have a way to escape quickly if we get in a sticky situation.
Drewan, for example, is fairly strong in combat, but that's the bulk of what he's really good at - he could do some other stuff in a pinch, but not nearly as well as, say, Digger. In combat, he prefers to shoot from rooftops and uses them for a quick escape when the situation demands. This works in Coran because the buildings are fairly close together - elsewhere, it might not work quite as well. Then again, he's got a good stealth score, so he can use that in a pinch.
To be honest, Drewan doesn't do a whole lot except provide support to the rest of the group - he's able to provide some ideas, but is not generally the one that carries those ideas out. For example, right now Digger's inside trying to convince the Tiny Town official to help us, and Drewan is outside ready to run in and rescue him if needed.
If you want to have a more active role in things than that, then you'll want to bring something to the table that will allow that (bluff, disguise, etc.). If you don't want to be the one doing the talking, then I'd recommend building your character around combat and stealth/escape, similar to what I did with Drewan.
Of course, it should go without saying that, while healing wouldn't be a bad thing, you should play what you want. If you can't bring yourself to get inside your character's head, then you won't feel that pull to continue playing - that's, I think, how we lost Hazan.
Jake the Rat
Drewan your last point is a great one that I've tried to express before but failed. Its something I find particularly bad for PbP games. In face to face game I find it easier to play a character that I struggled with but the two characters I made in PbP that I just couldn't get inside the head of it was much easier just to let the game slip.

This is something I've noted in my relatively short time of playing/running PbP games. Unless you are mentally prepared to just let the game run at whatever pace it runs don't play the silent mysterious stranger sort of personality. PbP games are slow by nature, making your character in such a way that they aren't interacting with part of most (if not every) situation makes them even slower. This also exasperates situations when your party face/active talker is out of town - if no one else is willing to step in and keep social situation conversations moving the game halts till that player returns.
Just because your character may not be a high charisma character doesn't mean said character needs to be an introvert. (and it can be amusing to watch the unskilled bluffer try to pull something over on someone, or resolve a diplomatic situation - so long as a failed result in either won't end in death anyway).

Thank you so much for your input! I agree! I want to be able to "get into" my character's skin. Your feedback makes me even more thankful to be joining the game. I thought about it for a long time yesterday and would like to build a catfolk dawnflower dervish/sound striker bard. She should have all of the skills needed to be successful at infiltration/espionage while being a high defense switch hitter with buffing/support/healing spells. I think she will be a good addition to the group. With summoned creatures, Drewan, and the melee eidolon; she should be a good striker with multiple flanking partners.
Thoughts?

Build is in the profile.
Kit was born in the worst part of Coran, the Dregs. Her grandparents had immigrated to Coran with hopes of a new life in the "big city". They quickly found the Coranian Dream was only for the lucky elite. Her grandfather worked hard at whatever job he could find in the city being a catfolk. He tried to provide for his family, but his efforts fell short. It only got worse for his daughter. Impregnated at the age of 15 with twins, she had no chance of a happy life. Once her parents passed away, she was left to do whatever she could to feed her children. This lifestyle led to disease and an untimely death. Left alone; the twins, Kitrina and Kaliss, were evicted to the streets in their preteens. This was their first encounter with the Mageocracy. They soon learned their mother had requested medication that would have saved her life, but it was withheld from her due to her social cast. Not only that, she had asked the local representitives of the Mage's Guild to allow her children to stay in their one room apartment. Both of her requests were denied due to greed and beurocracy.
Life alone was hard. Kit and Kal found a home in an abandoned building. They were forced to steal to survive. They found other orphans and started a small society in the abandoned building. Stealing for the good of the tribe, Kit and Kal stole their way into leadership of a thriving little society. As they grew, the jobs got bigger and bigger. They soon not only provided daily rations to their little orphan community, but were able to provide funds for many of the residents in the Dregs. They become infamous for their "good deeds" often saving people who needed medicine to survive.
The twins were living it up (as good as one can living in the Dregs). One night on a routine job her brother was caught. Without the ability to obtain the legal counsel that is afforded the wealthy, he was sentenced to twenty years in prison. Kit, now 16, was taken to the Church of Sarenrae to be "civilized". During her days in the temple, she learned the ways of the Dawnflower. She finally saw that her life's mission had been a holy one for a goddess she had never known. She was trained in the deadly art of the Dervish Dance to help her control her anger. Little did the priests know she had different plans for her new skills. She was actually learning how to defend herself in the real world. Magical powers also began to manifest. The priests were surprised to find out they were not of a divine source. She took to her training well. She used her position in the Temple to care for the local citizens. Once again though, an organization proved to be corrupt. As she increased her activity in the church, she realized they were laundering much of the money. Her time in the Temple came to an end when she heard the Archbishop speaking to a member of the Thieve's Guild. They were discussing how they operated together. Stunned, Kit ran away.
She spent a few years working to protect Merchant caravans, but once again found an organization that was filled with corruption and greed. She in currently back in the Dregs. She has spent the last few years stealing to support her "tribe" of orphans. Now twenty four, she is infamous in the Dregs for her good deeds and locally famous in the red light district for her dancing. She is currently looking for a way to break her brother out of prison and make the Mageocracy, Thieve's Guilds, and Merchant's Guilds pay for their sins against the innocent citizens of Coran.
I am currently working on her physical description and personality.

Just some notes/information on your background Kit.
The dregs would be in the SW part of the city, and though illegal, pesh spice flows pretty fairly and crime over the drug is common, from theft, to knife fights, to murder. Though pesh is the biggest thing going on in the dregs, it is certainly not the only thing going on.
Nearby the dregs is 'Tiny Town', a section of the city avoided by most the population, but home to many of the gnomes and halflings of the city. Not quite as bad a place to live as the dregs (if you are one of the short folk anyway), the place is still pretty run down and often left to its own devices.
Jake the Rat
Looks great to me, Jake's background is similar in many ways have a read. I suspect we would have heard of each's good work in different parts of the city. I haven't discussed with Ascension exactly where my Rats are based but I always suspected we hung out in the poorer parts of the merchant's areas.
Kitrina Razorclaw
I think I am going to adjust my abilities (-2 cha and +2 strength) so I can take power attack next level. Only one of my spells requires a save and power attack adds significant damage since I am doing a Crit build.
Jake-Awesome background! I love Puck. We definitely could be acquaitances. Maybe that is how I get brought into the group?
I am impressed with everyone's background and I am especially looking forward to helping Dev find out about his past!
Kit does not like killing humanoids. Her plan is to use fear to escape from danger. She is built to do subdual damage and stack through enforcer/blistering invective/dazzling display (eventually). I know demoralize with the intimidate skill doesn't stack alone. Will this work in your campaign where I can fear enemies with a spell to shake them and then a strike to fear them? I will be using bluff instead of intimidate.
Kitrina Razorclaw
With further thought, I think I will change my ability scores and switch enforcer to power attack now. I will take enforcer after I get the keen weapon enchant to be able to fear on a 15-20 Crit (hopefully next level)!
Kitrina Razorclaw
Yes. It will definitely fit. She may (or may not) have been partially involved in the drug trade if you want that in your back story. Possibly as a carrier, or maybe you despise the stuff because of what it has helped make the dregs become.
How about my brother got into carrying drugs and that is why he was arrested? They tried to get me to deal, but I refused?
GM Ascension
@Kit, given that the spell and intimidate are different sources of fear they will stack to create an actual Fear condition.
Brother arrested for the drug trade works too.
Is your character ready for review, or are you still making tweaks to it?
@Jake, in thinking about your Rats, they could either be from the dregs or from the beggars road area.
Kitrina Razorclaw
Stats are completed in my profile. I just need to add a shortbow, dagger, and club. GM-Please let me know if there is anything I need to change. I am open to suggestions from the group. You gentlemen may realize I am missing something important.
