@GM: about AoOs... when do they 'replenish' so to speak?
I had one set from them charging me.
Then I had my round.
Then Vuzi acted and they flee and provoke.
Do I have my AoOs 'ready' again at that time?
@Dispel: If I read it right, then it always targets the highest spell active and must break DC: 11+CL, right?
If so, then I should be fine.
They would trigger my spell-like ability Barkskin, which uses my monk level as CL, so the DC would be 11+8=19, which is higher than both dispel rolls.
Correct?

GM Choon |

They refresh at the same point in the next round. Since they moved on their turn a full round would have expired since your last AoO's, so they will provoke. Go ahead!
For the Dispel: It targets the highest level spell it can get, so you start with the highest and go down the list until you arrive at something it can dispel, which you then loose. If all your buffs are too high level, then you're good.

Amari Al'Fahd'Ya'Kivuli |

Ah, I missed that point about it going 'downward'.
Guess I am normal-sized again then.
I'll roll the AoOs with the large stats but my round with normal-size, as that seems to be the order of events, right?
*
I'm gonna (hopefully) get to meet my firstborn tomorrow (or the day after if things take particularly long)...
So I'll be gone for a couple of days I guess, until things are semi-normal again.
*
Please bot me when necessary.

Congrats! I would not make any plans for the next couple of days, children have a habit of disrupting them starting at birth...

Amari Al'Fahd'Ya'Kivuli |

Well, it is not yet spawned but the docs say they'd rather not wait beyond tomorrow for it to make landfall and will give my wife medics to start the process.
Lil'un is chilling in there too long for their liking.

![]() |

Ran the gamut with ours, easy as pie, then record setting weight at the hospital and broke a clavicle, then late but just in time to make me late to my own conference instead of waiting until it finished and then went in after him...
Good luck!

Has Harkon entered a cone of silence at his new location?

![]() |

Hhrrmmm
New question on the darkness effect, when Harkon summoned his bonded weapon spirit, the weapon began to glow as a torch, is it completely extinguished by the magical darkness? And the glow from the molten lava below? It will help define my next action.

![]() |

Did a little research this week, I see no spell for greater darkness, I assume that is a 5E remnant and we really got hit with deeper darkness. That rules out the lava as being remotely helpful. Research shows that the divine bond only gives torch light, which is not enough to overcome deeper darkness. So, I have only one other light trick to try, could I have a ruling on the light level provided by the Nimbus of Light ability from the Warrior of the Holy archtype:
She can spend a use of her lay on hands ability to call upon the power of her faith as a standard action. This causes a nimbus of light to emanate from the warrior of the holy light in a 30-foot radius. All allies in this area (including the warrior of the holy light) receive a +1 morale bonus to AC and on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws against fear as long as they remain in the area of light. This power lasts for 1 minute.
Would the Nimbus of Light produced be brighter than normal light? As this is a character created at an advanced level, I do not have a play reference to point to for this answer, but perhaps the character has already experienced the event to make a judgement? Essentially, if he thinks it will work, he will try it in order to see, otherwise, if he does not think it will work, he will cast a defensive spell, defensively, since he is unable to see to move anywhere and he is keenly aware of the lava below.

GM Choon |

It was deeper Darkness. Sorry. As I said I've been sick and some things have fallen through the cracks.
In this instance, you would have to produce a light-type spell with a equal or greater Caster level then the Caster level at which the darkness spell was produced. I will leave to you and your knowledge of the character to judge whether or not that ability (which will be produced with a spell level equal to the class level that it originates from) will overcome the high priests Caster level.

Amari Al'Fahd'Ya'Kivuli |

Busy with lil'un, so here a quick ooc note what Amari plans for botting purposes:
- He cannot see in darkness nor has anything to counter it
- IF: he can use survival/perception to remember the layout and find a path around the lava: he will move towards Simon/Emily with his normal speed (relying on good acrobatics to not fall) and seek to untie them (using disable device if necessary). BoF goes into movement speed.
- ELSE: he will just shoot at close-by enemies by the sounds they are making, taking the full-cover penalty for doing so. No Ki-extra attacks. BoF used for defense-boost.

s&&$. I forgot about blessing of fervor. I should have been making 2 attacks per round at my highest BAB.

Grelthe |

How are the coronavirus quarantines affecting you guys?

![]() |

My shifts have become unstable, as in not easy to keep straight...one of these days I am gonna show and they will be like what are you doing here, not your day....
plus my grandkids are coming for a visit since school is out...

Simon Blue-Eye |

Not that much.
My company has issued home office to the entire employees, so I can work from home, which is very nice, allowing me to sit it out, only going out to fetch food stuff.

Vuzi Ognok |

I'm in health care, but an accountant. I'm able to work from home most of the time. They haven't called me in yet.
I've been lucky to find the food we need and had a good stash of TP before that went nuts. We are in Seattle, so we've been dealing with this a few more days than the rest of the country.

Grelthe |

Yeah thankfully we had just stocked up at CostCo before it hit our area. I am a bit worried, because I live with someone high-risk, but my job is considered "essential" (grocery store barista) so my life hasn't changed much rather than get busier actually. Lost some theatre tickets though, and my IRL D&D group moved online, other than that I'm an introvert anyway so not much change.
Glad you guys & gals are doing alright so far. Hopefully the preventative measures help and it's over soon. *crosses fingers*

![]() |

Well, in my other game our group just entered this room. On round one, my Arcanist rolled a 1 on her WILL save to prevent the cone of silence and is now completely combat ineffective. The results will probably be polar opposite of how we are doing here.

seven....and it shows, but there are five PCs and an NPC and the NPC just died.

![]() |

I am not surprised it is floating in the air, I just did not remember. Did it go invisible the same time as the priests? I had assumed the priests died from the fireball. If it is invisible, I am unable to activate smite and will need to retcon that action. If it is visible and I am misunderstanding the last game entry, then the smite can stand, but I have no way to reach him at 30 feet (even if I maxed an acrobatics roll, it will not be enough to achieve the height needed) Although, if I am double my size and have a 10 foot reach, I only need what, 10 feet of actual jump....what say you? Keep as is and make an acrobatics and hope I get lucky?

![]() |

I checked the DC, +4 per foot, so that is a check of 40 for 10 feet, so impossible for me at this time. Will just risk casting a spell instead...
since he is not invisible, I can let the Smite stand, otherwise I can just lay on hands again...

Grelthe |

Assuming I'm still slowed? Is retrieving a javelin from a missed shot a standard action, or part of a move?

GM Choon |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Congrats on besting an encounter that should have ended you, and very nearly did a couple times! The book states I should buy you all a drink, but instead I must unfortunately announce that I will be ending things here. With the current state of the world I just am not able to run a PbP game well, as youall have seen first hand. Homeschooling is a full time gig, it turns out.
I thank youall wholeheartedly for the time you gave to me. All of you made this one of my favorite games to run. I'm sorry life has brought my ability to continue to an end. This is the game I've held onto the longest and tried my hardest to keep. I would if I could.
Again, thank you. Each of you. Old and new. I'd play with any of you again in a heartbeat. Who knows. Maybe in the future it'll happen.

![]() |

DM Choon, this is undoubtedly one of the best games I have played in. I believe you sell yourself short a tad, but I completely understand the current situation. Would you consider a long term hiatus instead of an outright cancellation?

Simon Blue-Eye |

Ah no-miour!
I can totally understand the reason of course and I add my hat to Harkon: I won't be going anywhere and would be more than ready to continue this whenever time permits.
Simon was my first pathfinder character on this board and boy what a ride you offered him! I'll never forget some of the awesome RP going on in here, nor the tension of some of the more razor edged fights.
This was IS one of the best games I ever played.
So, thank you a metric ton for such a good time at this point.
Are we going to bring this to a fitting end and have each of the characters go their ways (for now) with the premise of coming back together should a new evil arise from the bottomless pits of Rappan Atuk?

Vuzi Ognok |

Thank you for running this for us. I've had a great time, and it's been an amazing ride.
I'll be on the boards as well.

Grelthe |

Thank you thank you for all your work GMing us up to this point. I would also be willing to start it up again after the pandemic, but can't guarantee I would see any notifications in any timely manner, lol.
It has been a fabulous time with everyone, thank you!
