Selvan, are you leveled all the way on your character sheet and Mythweavers sheet now? You're still listed as "Tactician1" on Pazio, but your Mythweavers says "Tactician (Combat Medic) 2". So
- are you Tactician1/Tactician (Combat Medic)1?
- or did you retrain to Tactician (Combat Medic)2?
Also, thank you for "taking one for the team" and getting all of us some very much needed Vitalist powers. I know I'm leaning heavily on Reaghar's Scribe Tattoo feat myself, and once we get Level 3 and Connor gets Inscribe Stone (Scribe Scroll), I fully expect to be able to do anybody's powers at half price for them in various gemstones. But the laws of psionics closed nearly all the healing powers to us without somebody taking a level of Vitalist (or Combat Medic, in your case).
I am just curious as to what powers people have, so I don't pick the same power(s) at leveling by mistake.

No draconic? That's highly surprising.
Put in the fact that dragons explode if they land on the islands, as well as any wizards who knew Draconic, as well as most scrolls written in Draconic were magic and blew up as well, and add a few centuries, and I can see it happening.
Natural Linguist with some skill points in Linguistics is looking better and better at Level 4 or so.

Yes, but it still pays for a civilization to know the language of its greatest enemies. All the core races have languages of their enemies as well as their allies(gnomes know giant, dwarves can get orc and undercommon). I'm thinking culturally and militarily here.
And also because Selvan has 20int.

mdt |

There are people who know draconic, but it's not widespread.
Hmm, ok, so, int 20... Not all races get the benefit of starting languages due to having a short list. However, being an Elvavian, I could see Sylvan being available. I'll have to update the list. There's enough wild creatures on the islands for Sylvan to be spoken by psionic beasts.

mdt |

Somewhere there is an angel watching over Sammark.
That Angel has just put a mark on a board, a board that has many many many many marks on it.
That Angel reclines, thinking up things to do to punish Sammark.

Connor of McIntyre |

Yes, let us all give credit to Sammark for pulling a "Marcus Brody" from Indiana Jones and the Holy Grail. Not that I read spoilers meant only for other players, mind you. But whattya change for our scuffy half-elf.

Connor of McIntyre |

Everybody still here? You don't have to just watch me & Sammark duke it out at the table. Throw in some comments, please!

Elrohir |

Eh, slightly annoyed that all our RP was more or less for naught. I mean, how do we even know what you were told was even true, if the id cards were fake.
Not feelin a good reply right now. We have wings, so we don't get the special plot....

Elrohir |

Yea, until the non winged one is given secret info that those contacts are false, just like our ID cards...
I feel like we're punished because we have wings and thus don't get the special plot Sam got. I mean, he clearly did way more than our little chat with the cat dude in the bar.

mdt |

*sigh*
Flick, did you try to do anything? Or did you just post 'I go along'? I'm a GM, I can't give you a good game if you don't meet me half way. A 2 line post of 'I go along with what everyone else does' from half the party every other day really really makes it hard for me to flesh anything out.
So, Sam posted and posted paragraphs about what he was going to do and wnated to do, and I had something to work with. How much story you get is directly related to how much you give me to work with. I give you all opportunities to post, to ask to make decisions, I ask you 'what would you like to do' and the response half the time is 'whatever everyone else does'.
And you're going to complain that you didn't get a fabulous story from 'whatever everyone else does'?
I'd be happy to give you all a very detailed and ingrained plot. Hell I've been trying my damndest to build up the plot. I put 30 f#&$ing dragons on a battle field to generate some interest... I got days of 'I wait' posts. Not 'I do this, I check on this person, I zoom forward a bit to get a better look, I ask the captain if I can do this, I offer this suggestion to the first mate...'. Just 'I wait'. *sigh*
I honestly am struggling with what to do with this game, as I feel like every time I spend some time typing up a page of exposition and setting, that most of the players are going to read that, and then respond with 'I wait to see what everyone else does' or 'I go along with everyone else'.
You can't really go along with everyone else if everyone posts the same thing. If you're not happy with the fact you didn't get a detailed indepth RP then get off your ass and post more than 2-3 lines a post and be interactive and give some thing to freaking work with so I can build a bloody detailed indepth RP for you.

Reaghar of Donough |

I have been contributing only seldomly because work is very busy. I don't foresee it letting up anytime soon, but I do what i can. for what it's worth, at least i made a relatively quiet character.
i can understand your frustrations, and i hope i am not contributing to them since i am not asking for more exposition to come reaghar's way. when i get more time to put in more quality posts, that'll be great, but until then i don't expect too much. Many of reaghar's skills are redundant with other party members, not that that is a bad thing.
he is the quiet guy who is more threatening because he isnt always popping off at the mouth.

mdt |

And that's fine Reaghar, as long as you aren't complaining that I am not giving you RP (which is hard to do, given your quite nature and short posts), I'm fine with that. I am just a bit frustrated with the complaint I'm not giving people enough RP when I have to beg for people to post more than 'I go along'. :(

Elrohir |

You mean like how you had an entire social encounter revolve around somebody knowing a language we actually aren't allowed to choose? I'm not even sure how Conner got away with knowing Auran, but whatever.
I might have gotten involved, had I actually been able to understand what was being said.
Also, unless I am mistaken, I am pretty sure I was constantly attacking the dragons. Which, I think was what I was told to do. I was also high up in the sky, way far away from anybody else to interact with.
Oh, and that entire battle, and this new adventure has been while I am on the mend from suffering a crushed toe that I needed surgery to repair. Some days, I am all for posting, some I am way too tired and in pain to really reply. As I said though, this last scene, nobody but Conner was able to do anything with.
Flick is clearly built to be a scout, with his high Perception, and Fly and very solid Stealth. Has there really been something for him to shine? Its kinda hard to feel special when we've sorta been portrayed as cogs in a bigger machine, which is often how all serious military games end up being.

mdt |

The reason I disallowed Auran was that nobody had put their languages down, and I didn't want to have everyone put Auran down for one encounter. I had asked repeatedly for people to finalize that.
My apologies Flick, I'm just kind of frustrated myself. It sometimes feels like the only people who respond to my posts are Connor and Sammark.
Rather than continuing to argue about this, how about we agree that perhaps the situation with the languages was not handled well since I was a bit upset over people not having filled them out? Connor was allowed to take Auran because he had actually filled his languages out ahead of time. In other words, he was one of the very few who did it months ago.
Honestly, you should soon have plenty of time to shine. I realize you've been hurt, and busy, but that doesn't make it easy on me to give you things when you're in too much pain to post or too tired, yes?
I'll do my best to give you some places to show off your skills shortly (which was honestly planned anyway), if you'll do your best to give me some meat and meet me halfway on your poses?

Elrohir |

Its all good, I'm sorry I was snippy, I just feel like we were totally taken advantage of due to nobody else knowing Auran, which made it impossible for anybody but Conner to speak for us. Had I been able to at least understand the conversation, I could've tried to roll a Sense Motive on the guy. At least then I would've felt I stood I chance to see past the deception.
As far as the languages, it clearly just slipped my mind. I almost always mark them down, but somehow I just forgot with Elrohir.

mdt |

That's fine.
Although, actually, you didn't get ripped off. :) Connor just got confused and paid 40% more than the guy asked is all. :)
Well, he *was* going to rip you off a little bit, normally fake ids are 75gp... but he only added 33% for you being weird. :)

mdt |

It'll never get well if you don't pick at it..
Hmm, that's not right...
It'll never get better if you don't try?
Yeah, that's better. :)
On a more serious note, he's not done too bad, the biggest problem is he seems to go out of his way to alienate people. I think maybe if he just played the 'efficient soldier' for a bit, trying not to get hurt, but also not trying to alienate his allies, that might help?

Reaghar of Donough |

i figured the Auran thing was only offlimits to those that hadn't already chosen it. i've run into that before, i dont often choose my languages because many games i have played in, they dont ever come up.

Alys |

I'm still paying attention, most of the important stuff previously though happened in spoilers, so I just waited it out. I'm generally not a very wordy person and my characters frequently reflect that, by keeping silent most of the time, because I simply don't know what to add to the conversation.

mdt |

Well, just do your best. As a GM, my style is usually to build off what the players say and do, so it's a struggle if the majority are waiting for me to make things up as I go along. :)

Connor of McIntyre |

I tend to not read spoilers not meant for me, so I'm clueless as to what happened with Sammark.
As for posting, I'm trying to post once a day, minimum. I don't mind taking the lead, I just don't want to dominate the conversation so much the other players feel left out.
I still like this team, and the way the story is unfolding!

Connor of McIntyre |

I've got another "working weekend", but I should be able to post normally. Worst-case-scenario, I'll be back Sunday night.

Connor of McIntyre |

Waiting for Sammark to start up the employment conversation again.

Connor of McIntyre |

It also means we would be providing for our own food, water, etc. Most hired swords are at least fed and allowed to sleep in shifts on caravans.
Let's see Sammark haggle just one or two more times so we can get room & board on this 2-week trip.
It does mean Connor has to go back to the tavern to close out his room, and he needs to walk around Easttown for the rest of the day. I'd like to buy a local map if possible, and a book or two. I've only got 60 gp to do that, if we don't get paid at the end of this trip.

Sammark Bellefont |

Sam is happy with his deal, if you guys want a better one, feel free to step up and haggle.
We're also here not to get paid but to gather information. The whole point of this was to get us into a position where asking questions about the local military, politics and economy would not be odd. Sam has enough to handle our basic needs for a while.

Alys |

As the GM...
... REALLY glad to see people getting into it. :)
It's as Spoony said: you want to get your players to get into action, mess with their stuff (or in this case their income)

Elrohir |

I would like to get a chance to respond and show off, but I am about to begin my oxygen therapy and won't be home till about 3 hours or so. I understand if you need to move on, just letting you know why I haven't posted yet and won't be able to for some time.

Connor of McIntyre |

Elrohir - wow, get well soon.
Selvan - you haven't introduced Connor to your powers yet on the IC thread, but we had the 7 days before we got on the Ashen sisters, so I suspect you did the "Swarmlord" thing already with him. I'm surprised you don't keep it up at all times when the group goes somewhere.
Dreamscarred Press needs a "multiple psicrystal" feat or something so my psion can just make jeweled rings and amulets for everybody and thus keep track of them.
Meanwhile, back on the IC thread, as long as we don't hit a taboo "land mine" again, I think we'll be OK.

TarkXT |

Actually he hasn't primarily because there hasn't been a need and apparently people have hang ups about it.
As I said before if it seems that Selvan is being quiet or at an arms distance it probably has to do with his keen observatio that everything and everyone he talks to or interacts with either gets destroyed as a result or seeks to kill him. Such events prey on the mind of an already troubled soul. I'm not even sure his kicking of alcoholism has more to do with a desire to get better or a fear that it only made things worse.

Connor of McIntyre |

Looks like a roleplay opportunity for Connor and Selvan, then. I'll see if I can get around to it.

Connor of McIntyre |

Things to buy while we wait for morning:
- Swarmsuit (APG) 20 gp, 10 lbs. (may need an additional swath of insect-proof cloth to cover his wings)
- local fauna/flora book - 10 or 15 gp? to ID dangerous plants and creatures
- 7 more days of trail rations (3.5 gp)
Connor will close out his tavern room. He will dress in a mix of Traveler's Outfit and Hot-Weather Outfit: heavy boots and leggings to stop bites and crawlies, but lighter on top for the heat. He will also walk around Easttown, looking for "Wanted" signs on tavern walls and such. Because we know there's a lizardman bandit gang out there lead by "Grimjowl", and I'd like to know if there's a picture. Also information on other hazards of the jungle.
Anybody willing to spend 50-150gp on antitoxins for poison?

Elrohir |

How much gold do each of us have? I know there's been some amounts thrown around, but did we actually split it up, or did Connor more or less waste all of our gold on those fake IDs??

Connor of McIntyre |

*AC-hem*! If you read the gameplay...
As posted, Connor gave everyone, including Sammark,
- 1 belt pouch
- 13 platinum pieces
- 200 gp' worth of jewels ranging from 5gp to 100gp each (you decide the mix)
Connor spent 6pp and 100 gp of gems on the fake chits, which meant nobody else spent anything. So you guys, unless you spent money on the tavern room or the food, still have the same coin that Captain Selena gave us. Connor transferred his platinum pieces into local gold pieces at the tavern, because I got tired of the math. I've still got a few gems, however.

Reaghar of Donough |

i am unsure about if i have the correct amount of gold on my sheet. what should we be at (not counting what we entered the ship with).
EDIT: looks like i missed what connor gave us as well

mdt |

I don't keep track of your gold, I usually trust you to do that. If you're not sure, assume you spent 10% of whatever you had when got on the boat. Beyond that, you have what Connor gave out.
