Given how these things explode, retreat is still an option. Connor could fill up the corridor with astral constructs, letting everyone else escape. Given how Hero was also damaged, the psicrystal may need to run too.

Waiting on Sammmark and Selvan to post before entering the larger worship room. What's behind the curtain? :) We'll have to find out. Maybe a potion of Restoration for Sam.

Good points about this room: it's big; it can be locked so we can nap; there's wood available to make a cooking fire. Connor can use Hero as an early warning system outside the locked door.

We appear to have some downtime in the larger room with the curtains. I'll ask here instead of IC:

1.) Can everybody move their icons into the room?
2.) Do we want to rest for 8 hours, so Selvan can spend the maximum power points on healing powers for us?

If Connor doesn't spend any more power points and we all get 8 hours, we can get our power points back for a new day. Connor can put Hero in the corridor just past the double doors as a watchdog. We will probably have to close the double doors to keep any more balls of negative energy (player knowledge, not character knowledge) from wandering to us in our sleep. Connor has a healer's kit to double the sleep recovery of hit points for Sammark.

The alternative is to rest for only 2 or 3 hours, and trudge forward with Connor down to 5 power points for making astral constructs, and everybody not healed to the max Selvan and 8 hours can do.

As far as "lessons learned" for these balls of negative energy goes, we may have to change to using more astral constructs in attack mode.

1.) The balls ignore astral constructs and the psicrystal, going straight for the first living person they see.
2.) The psicrystal is immune from incidental negative energy at least, maybe not directly being attacked by one of them.
3.) Alys is our best long-range attack against these guys.
4.) When they die, they explode. Ref save required. At least a 5-foot range.
5.) The balls of negative energy fly really fast (60 ft/round?)

So the next time we have an empty room, I see the best option as making 3 or 4 "battle ready" astral constructs, all lined up for AoOs, between the door and the first person in sight. That person doesn't have to be Alys, but she needs a clear shot. I just hate to "waste" 3 or 4 astral constructs on rounds per creation instead of the Utility hours per creation. But it beats losing 50%-85% of our hit points. That explosion-on-death is also nasty, which means we have to kill the ball of light before it reaches a character.

As far as Connor "making the army" goes, it makes more sense to have 4 Astral Constructs on "Utility" and change them in the 6 seconds before opening the door, rather than use 4 rounds to make 4 battle-ready constructs. The first one would evaporate as the fourth was being made. They'll take a -2 to hit, but they will all "start the clock" together when the door opens.

I haven't pulled out Connor's crossbow just because he was too busy making constructs instead.

These death balls are trouble and I'd hate to see what their boss is like without full support.

Well, constructs could widen the hole for 8 hrs.

Reaghar would be more amenable to coming down the hole if it were only a limited and known distance, proven clear.

The reason he didnt go down there is because he saw absolutely no real indication that there was a reason to. Additionally, he had no idea that the hole was anything more than a hole for a dire badger or some other animal. There was no indication that there was ANYWHERE for even one person to reverse direction and climb out safely, which would have meant climbing out of there in reverse uphill. Plus, he figured whatever animal the hole belonged to would either return to bite him in the ass (if it was out of the hole) or maul his face with intense combat advantage (if it was in the hole... Squeezing is no joke).

Ok, these things are usually 2-3 shots, but Connor's been knocked out and the astral construct might only get one hit in, if that. So it's up to our regular players to step up to bat! Don't be miserly with the ray attacks.

And we're going to have to push back the 8-hour rest about 4 hours at this rate to recover hit points and power points.

Wow. The GM keeps rolling 16+ to-hits. Does Hero need to start rummaging around Connor's pockets for that potion of CLW to wake him up? I was going to suggest just letting Connor "sleep it off" if you guys could take care of the little ball of light without him.

You're doing fine, Selvan. Tacticans start off as not doing much, even with Network powers. We needed healing and you took up Battle Medic and I for one really appreciate that for the team. We're starting to work together better. At 3rd level Connor has 18 psionic power points, so he can make a lot more astral constructs, everybody gets their first 2nd-level powers, Alys' soulbolt becomes a +1 weapon, etc. Clerics in a team don't do much other than heal and Resistance until the 2nd-level buffs.

Connor finally gets on his craft-making path at 3rd with Inscribe Stone (Scribe Scroll). Now we just need to get back to town so Connor can buy all the expendable stone-etching tools he needs to make power stones. :)

Connor's still going to be paying Reaghar for a lot of tattoos. I can see where Connor needs several Psionic Tattoos of Astral Construct that Hero can tap when Connor falls unconscious again.

That's what I did last time. And yeah I will stick because I'm low on CON and this gives the better average return.

So looking back it turns out my Reflex and HP both were 1 point too high last level, while the listed BAB, CMB and CMD were too low. Not sure how this happened, but I adjusted for it now. I may go over my stat block later to see if all the other numbers check out.

Y'all think leveling is easy...I have to update myself, then update my psicrystal, then update all my Astral Construct cheat sheets, then make new Astral Construct cheat-sheets for the power-point level/size/class increase. Then Pazio decides to "forget" my hours of work when I hit Submit. Arrrrghhh! :) Save often, save often.

BTW, now's a good time to copy all your stats from Pazio to Notepad or Wordpad for a backup. In case a hacker makes Pazio revert 24 hours again or something.

Any discussion on group/team dynamics? Connor's taking Natural Linguist and Sustenance, plus Diplomacy, Knowledge: Dungeoneering, Psicraft, etc. Not much on the attack/damage, but Connor can make Medium-sized constructs now, with better stats.

What? Natural Linguist is part of my Diplomacy facet! :) Hero gets "telepathy with anything" around Level 5, so the only thing that can stop us is old written languages on stone tablets or scrolls.

Gonna grab dimension swap this time around and coordinate as one next time as that point I'll be able to augment it with spirit of many to drop it on two people. Dimension swap now let's me snatch our ranged guys back adn replace them with me or a construct.

Right now I'm only torn between power attack (which pairs well with inevitable strike) and expanded knowledge to grab another power. Though I think Ill wait on that when powers start to get better.

NExt level I'll be looking at a much improved hp pool since I'll be putting the point towards CON.

Also put a point in Know(Arcana) because it makes literally 0 sense for a trained soldier not to be aware of his nations number one enemy.

Character developement wise Selvan has grown a touch. The time on the ship has given him some hope and time to think. I think at some point he'll tell the man with the temper to go f+*& himself and join the merchant navy proper. HE'll probably never be a great leader of men as his father wanted. But, that doesn't mean he has to be unhappy or have all his skills wasted.

Actually I might scrap power attack altogether for this.

EDIT: ACtually scratch that. AS fun as it would be I have to actually touch one of you as a full round action, make two skill checks and then I can manifest the power as normal. In that time I can do so may more useful things. /

Well, you could gain a psycrystal and then affinity, and let it expend focus for you. But that's 3 feats.

Reaghar, someone among us needs to get Animal Affinity for the +4 ability buffs. The same goes for Energy Adaptation, Specified. For your Brutal Disruptor theme, Distracting Strikes makes sense.

I just wish you had gotten Hidden Pocket. Now Connor will have to buy it, or wait until 9th level or so to get it himself. :)

You know, I'm really kind of shocked that none of the characters are the least bit concerned about Connor. He's been downed, and nobody checked him after the fight, and he's been unconscious, laying against the wall with blood on him all night, and nobody has really checked on him.

Is everyone that bored with the game?

Connor's still -3 hp, and I can't do these Autohypnosis:Willpower checks forever. Should we give ourselves another 8 hours to heal? Or will Selvan need another 8 hours after healing us? Another 8 hours with the healer's kit and long-term care will take Connor to positive hit points.

And bummer, Sammark. Negative levels are a pain. At least it's not a permanent drain, you can re-save every 24 hours. Maybe we can find a potion of Restoration or something.
