Sir Korbinian von Burkhard, Millitary Attaché of the Molthuni Embassy to the Honorable Crusader State of Lastwall, reporting for duty!

Korbinian's Character Sheet

Moint Character Sheet

Character Image

Mechanics:

Korbinian will serve as a Buffer and skirmisher. Between his war sphere totems and inspire courage, he can help the party get out a large amount of damage every round. After he gets his buffs up, he can start dishing out lots damage with charging and power attacking with a lance. Even without charging, he's got great damage output when he has buffs up. He's also got a Composite Longbow with a +4 strength score he can use to skirmish at range and deal with flying targets.

Background:

Korbinian grew up in the Northeastern planes of Molthune, the second child of three from a wealthy aristocratic family. While being a member of the upper class essentially gave him the freedom to peruse whatever sort of career he wished, he made the choice to serve his country by enrolling in the military, with the goal of eventually becoming a cavalry officer. Of course, it's not as if he simply signed up as a recruit- he attended the military academy in Molthune's capital. While he was never particularly quick to pick up on the more highbrow intellectual matters, he was disciplined and strong, and had a way to inspire others. He eventually was graduated and formally knighted and then spent several years serving on the unending war zone between Molthune and Nirmathas, but luckily enough didn't see too much in the way of combat. He was given command of a scouting party that was supposed to keep an eye on the southern portion of the border, which is largely open plains and, by extension, the least inhabited by the Nirmathi ambushers.

After serving honorably and diligently but without any particularly glamorous distinction, he eventually got recalled for a new asignment- and one that was rather unexpected. He was to head to Lastwall and serve as a Military Attaché to the Molthuni ambassador in the city of Vellumus. He was surprised by the assignment, but overjoyed. He was never one to shy away from socializing, and he greatly admired Lastwall's longstanding piety and military discipline.

He's resided in the city for a few years with his family in the embassy, but truth be told there wasn't much that could be done on his end. Molthune has nothing but respect for Lastwall, but alas that the feeling isn't always reciprocated. Lastwall is far too occupied with keeping an eye on Ulstalav and withstanding the orc hordes of Belkzen to intervene in the civil war between Nirmathas and Molthune, and Molthune recognizes that. However, the current status quo has Lastwall showing some favoritism to Nirmathas, out of a mistaken belief that the rebels are in the right.

Lastwall's call to arms against the horde of Belkezen has peaked the interest of the Imperial Governor of Molthune, and there is talk among diplomatic circles of sending several Molthuni regiments to aid in the fight. Lastwall certainly can use the support, but they're hesitant to accept such direct and blatant aid from Molthune when everybody knows there will be some sort of unspoken political price tag attached to it.

Negotiations have been difficult so far. The Lastwallers are stubborn- one can't blame them for that, if they hadn't been stubborn the crusader state likely would have fallen years ago. But after reading the fine print of the advertisement, Korbinian came up with an idea. Why, they trained some of the finest men and women ever to wear armor in Molthune. Surely they could fine one talented and inspiring figure to sign up for this group of irregulars in Vigil, both to provide Lastwall a small sample of Molthuni military for their crusade (Gods know they need everyone they can get, even if they don't want to admit it) and to promote Molthuni intrests. Maybe once one of their own had valliently fought and bled for their cause, the ruling class of Lastwall would be more inclined to listen.

When he proposed this idea to the Molthuni ambassador, she thought it was a truly excellent idea. In fact, she happened to know just the sort of man for the job. He was a talented cavalryman and the military attaché of Molthune-- he even lived right in the embassy and got along so well with the paladin types that filled this nation.

Korbinian immediately recognized what he had just gotten himself into, but it's not like he could refuse his superior officer's orders when he was the one who came up with the idea. So now Sir Korbinian von Burkhard, with the approval of both the governments in Vigil and Canorate, makes his way to the capital of Lastwall to answer their call to arms.

Personality traits and disposition:

Alignment: Lawful Good

Personality Traits:
- Extroverted and Gregarious
- Family Man
- Pious (worships Iomedae)
- Disciplined Soldier
- Loyal and Patriotic
- Respects honorable military service
- Loves Horses
- Egalitarian (Molthune's military promotes on merit, and while the aristocracy has advantages in their opportunities to become meritous, they won't get anywhere if they're incompetent. They also don't shy away from recruiting "monstrous" races, and Korbinian agrees with both policies. It would take someone particularly unusual to make him double take at being told to serve beside him, but he'd still go along with it provided they weren't actively evil).

Family:

Father Adelburt von Burkhard is the current holder of the Burkhard family estates, which consist of a large series of farms and several orchards all worked by laborers in their employ. Adelburt isn't a particularly generous or virtuous man, but he's far from the worst sort of man to work for. He's fair and even handed- some would say at the expense of having a personality. Not one for excessive sentimentality, he comes off as being too stoic for his own good. In spite of having a rather different disposition, Korbinian has a lot of respect for his father, not the least of which is due to his distinguished military career. He played a crucial role in the last Molthuni attempt to occupy the rebel's self proclaimed capital of Tamran. While the effort ultimately failed, he received high military honors for his bravery in the battle and played no part in the later loss of the city.

Uncle Argulfus von Burkhard is the younger brother of Korbinian's father by twelve years, and has spent his entire adult life in the military. He currently works as a quartermaster in the regional capital of Westsher. It's for the best that he doesn't have to spend much time around Adelburt, as the two do not get along. If Korbinian had to bet money, he would say that his uncle is corrupt and probably stealing supplies from the government to sell them at a profit, but there is not proof of this.

Mother Janina Weishaupt is the brother of the three Korbinian siblings, and actually hails from a fairly wealthy aristocratic family from Isger. The match was made under the reign of an imperial governor who encouraged the aristocracy of his country to make inroads into the thrall of Cheliax, with the hopes of gradually assimilating it's territory into Molthune's hands. Nothing came of it, but the marriage stuck. Janina grew accustomed to the luxuries of life in Molthune quickly, and used much of her family's wealth to patronize the arts in the new country. She treated all of her children well, but Korbinian is fairly sure he's her favorite.

Elder Brother Dominik von Burkhard is the first in line to inherit the Burkhard family estate when Adelburt passes. He's a bureaucrat at heart, having no particular desire to engage in any sort of martial activity. He's a competent enough administrator though, and given how much of the family lands he already runs, nobody fears that there will be much turmoil when he receives his inheritance. He's a bookish recluse compared to Korbinian, but can be sociable enough with the situation calls for it.

Younger Brother Woldemar von Burkhard is an ambitious man. As all ambitious individuals in Molthune do, he joined the military and entered the Imperial academy when he had the chance. He serves as a naval officer stationed in Eranmas. Korbinian is worried about him, and thinks his younger brother is too much of a ladder climber for his own good. He's got nothing wrong with passionately serving ones country: the Gods know he does. He just doesn't think Woldemar really does care about what is truly best for his nation.

Wife: Victricia Resket is the daughter of one of the General Lords of Molthune (though the marriage was arraigned before General Lord Walder Resket's elevation to his current position), and a member of one of the older Aristocratic families in Molthune. Comfortable in diplomatic circles as well, she's taken well to being the wife of a diplomat. Victiricia is both a shrewd businesswoman and charitable, and uses the funds she earns from her family's trade with Druma to fund various public works projects. She's recently working with the church of Iomedae and various public officials in Lastwall to set up an orphanage for the children of parents who died in Lastwall's conflicts with the orc hordes of Belkzen. Of course, these already exist, but with the upcoming crusade they're more likely than ever to be full. Their marriage is a happy one, and the two get along surprisingly well for an arranged marriage.

Elder Daughter: Kathrina Resket: At nine years old, Kathrina takes after her father in her love for horses and and outgoing personality. Krobinan plans on having her enroll in the Imperial academy when she becomes old enough

Younger Daughter: Astrid Resket: At two years old, Korbinian holds that she is the most adorable toddler on Golarion. Doesn't have much in the way of a personality, being 2 years old and all, but does laugh a great deal.

Ambitions::

- Serve with distinction and honor in the upcoming conflict, thereby bringing glory both to Molthune and himself.
- Continue to make inroads with the political elite of Lastwall.
- Be promoted to the Ambassador of Lastwall.
- Negotiate a formal extradition treaty between Lastwall and Molthune, that includes the transportation of significant members of the Nirmathi rebellion should they try and seek shelter in that nation. This is a major ambition of the Molthuni government as well.

Secrets:

Secret he knows: He's not sure of the merits of this, but he's overheard rumors form decently high ranking members of Lastwall's military that they're having a bit of a problem with undead. Given their border Ulstalav, that's not too much of a surprise. What's different about this is that there are tunnels that are being dug from somewhere in Ulstalav to various points in Lastwall. Nobody has been able to find the exact origins of the tunnels- they don't seem to have an exact origin point for the tunnels, and all of them are filled with undead. This has been passed onto the ambassador and by extension the Molthuni government, with the caveat this is a rumor and might have no merit to it. Lastwall certainly isn't going out of its way to publish information about it.

Secret he doesn't: He's actually a bastard, the product of a brief affair his mother had with his uncle. If this were to be discovered, it wouldn't affect his position in the military government per say- they are genuinely meritocratic after all. But it absolutely would affect his social standing and any potential inheritance he would receive, not to mention it would be personally devastating given how much he values familial loyalty.

He's working for Molthune, but his instructions are explicitly to help Lastwall with their crusade as much as he can. Even if no political alliance is gained with Lastwall, Molthune would prefer the nation not fall to the orc hordes. Molthune wants to expand it's teritory, but has no desire to annex Lastwall and deal with Gallowspire watching duty and devote all of its attention to orc killing. They prefer battles they can easily win, not unending wars of attrition.

Also, while Korbinian is done, I might change his mount's details based on if I get a response about applying a template to it. Still need to give the horse a name, although that'll also probably depend on the template.

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32

For giggles I decided to make a 2nd option sumbmission it's still a work in progress but it is a Stalker Vigilante half-orc with a human and tribal hald-orc identity (using feats and equipment) he's multi classed with a magus and rogue dip at present.

Final Build will look something like

Rogue 3rd (for free dex to damage, evasion, rogue talent), Magus 3rd (for that wand wielder arcana), Viglante 14th

Still a WIP but that's why it's a google doc link

Javier Quick/Ausk the Runt/The Scarlet Painter

Background:

Born of rape, Javier was actually adopted by a elf and human couple and has a brother who is half elven. His adoptive family let him study with a Shaman for a time and his elvish adoptive mother taught him the ways of a spire defender magus to build on his magical inclinations.
Javier can pass easily for human as can his half elven brother their father made sure of that.

His tribal Orc identity is Ausk the Runt, a wanderer that s allowed into tribal orc lands but never quite accepted. He gets some respect for having dealt with one of his bullies in an underhanded fashion but it is not quite acceptance. The equivilant of a servant class orc.

The Scarlet Painter is born of his anger and desire for expression as someone that belongs in none of the 3 worlds he knows. He's fair with a rapier, eventually he'll be a surgeon with that glaive.

Secret he knows- Javier/Ausk is aware of all his identities.
Secret he does not know- His brother is also in the fight
Possible secret he doesn't- Birth dad is someone important, he could have time loss because his identities have become full on Multiple Personalities because he suffers a trauma he doesn't remember.

I've added Alma's inventory.

In relation to how she could 'sign up', she uses the hat of disguise (and the skill itself) to appear as a living version of herself, when in social contact with the crusade, proving herself through skills of observation and stealth within the city.

Scarab Sages

story/intro:
Aglaron crept, cautious and quiet, in the cover of the treeline with its undergrowth. The two orcs hadn't noticed the half elf, at least not yet. But Aglaron was lucky today--these two appeared to be getting into a tussel, and one of them might do half of the work for him by knocking out the other. Aglaron's quarterstaff felt warm in his hand, the wood smoothed by years of use in a tight grip. He reminded his fingers to loosen up. There was no need to give himself a hand cramp while he waited for the right moment to strike.

About five minutes later, Aglaron was wiping the blood off of the dagger he'd used to finish the job after the orcs were both unconscious. He looked over his quarterstaff and noticed a small dent that was new. They really have thick skulls, he marveled. Aglaron removed the hide armor from each orc body. After a dip in a river and some time over a smoking fire to get rid of some of the orc stench, they'd fetch a few coins, at least.

The half elf stood and stretched his back as he looked toward the southern horizon. He wasn't far from Lastwall's northern border now, probably no more than a 3 day journey. He hoped that when he arrived with evidence of a few orc kills it would be enough to prove his worth to the knights there. He had no knightly training, but Aglaron could fight as well as most, and there weren't many who could match his skill in the wilderness.

ambitions and personality:
Aglaron wants to fight in Belkzen because Lastwall put out a call, and it's a cause he believes is good and just. The orcs are a threat to everyone. Aglaron tells himself he's only going to do his duty, but a part of him imagines himself in a knight's armor, standing proud with fellows in the face of evil. Perhaps he'll learn those knightly skills, in time.

Aglaron is honest and courteous, but he is not practiced in manners or wordplay. He is reliable, and is not willing to go back on his word, once given.

secrets:
The human father Aglaron has never met was a knight of Lastwall. Aglaron was raised by his elven mother alone and she always told him that his father was a noble knight who died in battle before Aglaron was born. The truth is that his father was a deserter who had to flee the village because the knights of Lastwall were pursuing to carry out his execution. We can decide later if he is still alive or not. =)

I have all the mechanical choices worked out but I'm on a phone right now so putting together the stat block is a little too much to handle at the moment. He's a level 3 conscript (Spheres of Might). He dipped the Alchemy sphere for the salve formula so he can do a little healing and has some Athletics sphere and Scout sphere talents making him good at Acrobatics, Climbing, Perception, and tracking. 16 strength and 16 dexterity should get him power attack and combat reflexes for free if I understand the house rules correctly.

I'm back folks. Hope everyone had a great holiday season! I'll start looking over and answering any questions that have been posted!

Thank you! I was missing a few. :)

Nice! I hope I have time enough to do some minor tweaks to Sean, then, given your list of granted feats.

Ok Folks!

I was thinking you let folks take a free prerequisite when you take the second in the chain! TY for the clarification.

My initial thoughts were so too.

I'm still not certain that that isn't the case.

Not that it really matters for me, the only one I qualify for is combat casting.

I've adjusted my character's sheets to reflect the feats they get from the feat tax thing.

Thanks for the update DM Malleus. Faolan has been updated as well. Welcome back!

Scarab Sages

I've created a character sheet for Aglaron:
Myth Weavers sheet

I haven't made the minor gear selections yet (rope, rations, sacks and backpacks, etc.) but it is otherwise complete.

Yep thanks folks! Basically its just a list of feats that I've been adding to over the years that I feel like are based more on natural skill than trained skill. Also there are all kinds of cool feats and builds that basically either require you to miss out on the above feats which most combat focused characters HAVE TO HAVE in order to be decent. So the solution is just giving them to people I figured. That way you can spend feats on things that are cool and flavorful.

It's also the difference between competence and skill in my opinion especially with the ranged feats. Anyone with any sort of training and competence with a bow can distinguish friend and foe especially at short range A'la precise shot, but it takes real practice and exceptionalism to fire two arrows at once A'la multi-shot.

Hope that explains my reasoning(not that I have to explain myself, I just like too lol).

Ok, so I've noticed a few things. This setting being homebrew didn't generate a TON of interest but the submissions I got were all great. Also, it seems that people either fell mostly into the operator or crusader category. That fact offers me a decent opportunity.

For my own enjoyment and getting to explore the scenario in a number of lights, I will be running two tables. Not two iterations of the same campaign but two separate tables operating in the same world with simpler goals but much different paths and methods.

The first table will be called the Advanced Guard details will come in the first gameplay post.
Roster is:

The Cleric of Gorum Odoacer Von Kriegsburg
The Fiery Dwarf Blacksmith Elsmon
The Golden Sentinel Sean Gallagher
The Vigilant Inquisitor Michael Telroth
The Political Envoy and Cavalier Sir Korbinian
And the Conscripted Aglaron
Orc sniffing ranger Drahz Anviltamer.

The Second Table will be called the Strike Force(sort of a play on x force or justice league dark if you will) Details in first Gameplay post as well.
Roster is:

Deathless Spirit Alma
Efficient Killer Investigator Sezelrain
Ultra tall fighter Hjorleaf
Hexing and enchanting witch Ellagaria
Bone animating Oracle Amara
Orc Punching Brawler Faolan Baran

Everyone report to Discussion!

IF I missed someone who didn't withdraw or a submission wasn't quite finished and you hadn't posted it DM me and we'll talk about it.

Thanks to all who submitted and as you can tell I like to include people ;)

Well that's a happy ending!

I look forward to playing with you all.

Indeed! Let’s go cull some orcs.

Strikeforce Gamplay table

Just finished tweaking Sean Gallagher, swapping Dex with Wis for all the free cheese you're dealing. In the process, he left his Full Plate aside for an Agile Brestplate, which only lowers his armour by 1 but boosts his physical skills enormously.

Edit: And then I find out you made the decisions already! Good to know I'm in :) Looking forward to start the game!

Awesome, thank you.

Hey fellow strike force people, was wondering were y’all would like to conduct OOC discussions since there isn’t yet a discussion thread linked to the strike force game :)

We could wait for that.

Or do a little here, for the time being?

Strike Force agent reporting for duty ...were exactly is that now?
