Yesterday the school had not had a hangar for a spaceship if you didn't count the basement workshop where Dave's ship was stored. Yesterday the school hadn't needed a hangar for a spaceship. Today it did. So today there was an underground hangar near the edge of the school property so as not to interfere with Ryleh's lair, but deep enough not to interfere with Adsila's plants (much, the door did have to open after all). Carl, Arthur, and Hermes found themselves in a large room with only one door which slid open and a small mechanical creation floated through.
The screen lit up to reveal a young looking woman whose dark hair was pulled back into a ponytail. "Arthur Barren? Stand still please. I need to scan you so the security nanites will know to play nice with your nanites. And who is your friend? Very resourceful by the way getting a ride on a dwarven mining vessel. Nothing could possibly be less suspicious heading towards a supposedly unoccupied star system."
"Which is why I'm glad she's enrolling in school now. Hopefully by the time she's old enough to be interested in the stupid stuff she'll know enough to not to, or at least enough to not get killed. The conjuration students have a problem with that."
"Which is why, after the events of today, I am going to petition the Headmaster to allow me to teach the binding of outsiders to my students - not only should that provide an outlet for their curiosity, but I can teach them out to do it safely, so that they do not get themselves killed in the process."
"Carl, Mam, me names Carl "Ironfist" Promethium, of the Clan Promethium, Blessed te meet-ya lass. The lad-e here told me about this place, I was hope-in ya may offer us a wee bit a help"
Carl looks op at the screen.
When the object enters Hermes immediately draws a katana that clicks out and unfolds from just a handle.
After it reveals to be non hostile the blade is replaced just as quickly.
"Yeah, I'm here. I'm working on helping Dennis clean up some video to try and find out who set the fire in the alchemy lab in town. Go ahead and bring the sample here and I'll see what I can find out about it."
::Alright, I'll be there soon.::
Vai opens her eyes and looks over at Tryko'Sam and Rena, nodding. "Alright, she's there. I'll let you know the results of the scan? Will you guys be going back to the school? I've got something planned for tonight so I'll make this this gets done before I do that, alright?" Vai waits for a response before bidding the other two farewell in that characteristic poof of light.
Arriving in the lab, Vai walks up next to her Mom. "Afternoon Mom." she says with a hug and a kiss on her adoptive parents' cheek. "How's your day going? You don't look too good."
Then she takes a moment to look around, and spots both Dennis and the people on the viewscreen. "Oh..." she blushes slightly at the affection she had just displayed, probably interrupting a conversation. "Um. Hello people, Dennis."
"Families family. Even if they hate you they still care for you. I'll stay away from asking why things are so bad between you and everyone else, or pretend to understand, but I would try to get on better terms with them all if I was you. It's not good to let anger fester with in family and friends. Besides it seems not all your family is on bad terms with you." He gestures to Raelle.

Carl looks at the TinMan,
"Bit Twitchy an't ya Tinman, its just a talk box, best not go doing that very time some one farts"
He Chuckles
then to Arthur,
"nan-nits, them wee thanks that flys around messin with stuff, ya got them in ya paints a"
"Machines can be very dangerous things, sir."
On the surface it is about the possible threat of the box. Digging deeper it could be about himself or one of Arthur's creations as well.
He does not move unless needed to. His standing perfectly stills betrays how unhuman he really is. If the metal wasn't a good enough clue.
Keme rolled his eyes. "He's always like that. Bo-ring."
"I think the stick up his ass interferes with his ability to make conversation," he muttered to Casseus as an aside.
"The world does not need to be filled with the sound of my voice all of the time. Why do you think it wants to hear yours, Keme?"
On the one hand, it was most...trying (as usual) to deal with Keme when not in the middle of a crisis. On the other hand, it was most curious that he seemed almost...jealous that this other student was not talking to him exclusively. ;)
Laughs

"And nothing makes something unglamorous as fast as making it homework," she agreed.
"ah sure," he holds still for the scan "yeah this is carl, owner of the craft, as you probably either knew or guessed, and this it HRMS-IX or Hermes, he's well i suppose you could call him my butler/bodyguard, so this is Avalon?"
"Pleasure to meet you Carl. You too Arthur, Hermes. I'm Professor Sunwake. And yes, this is Avalon." She paused as Vai arrived and greeted her affectionately. She smiled. "And this is my youngest daughter, Vai. Hang on just a sec, Vai. I'm almost done here. Okay, you're clear. Just follow the drone down the hall and to my lab. See you in a few minutes," she said and the picture winked out.
The drone moved towards the door and stopped, waiting for them to follow it.
"Hi, sweetie," she said to Vai after turning off the display to the drone. "I'm okay. But apparently your little brothers don't like enchiladas. Looks like the morning sickness is starting out just as early as last time. Anyways, you wanted me to scan some metal. Set it on the scanning plate over there and I'll get that taken care of. I already have a program running on the camera to get everything working again."
Carl follows the drone to the lab with the others

"Since I was sent to this accursed place, the closest thing I have to a friend is someone my patron regards as a battery at best and food at worst, the girl I liked turned me down by disappearing gods only know where, and anyone I halfway like or respect is part of this stupid power game. And maybe Valere is laid back and hands off, but the same can't be said for Esperanza. If I'd known it was going to be like this I would have stayed at home. At least there I knew everyone was trying to use me. It was straightforward. So I'm so terribly sorry that I dared to open my mouth and try to have a conversation with someone after several weeks of haunting this place like a f$$!ing ghost, only getting to interact with people when Esperanza decided they needed a swift kick in the pants. And don't try to tell me you understand. You don't."
The drone follows dutifully behind Arthur.

The young monk fluidly rises from his seat on the rubble and walks over to Keme as he unleashes his tirade. By the time he is finished, he is standing just at arm's reach from his fellow Champion.
"I was actually speaking about you opening your mouth to speak ill of other people for no reason, Keme...which has a great propensity to be most of what you say, and directed at me whenever I happen to be around regardless of what I say to you," Fei answers back calmly.
"I was being quiet until our fellow student made a statement regarding me that I felt required clarification. Then you decided to speak...uncivilly, and I called you out for it."
"I am most glad that you are trying to make more friends...but perhaps you would see more success by just talking with people nicely, and not trying to bond with them by marginalizing the others around you."
"If my presence is an impediment to that, then all you have to do is ask me to leave, which I will do now. Good day, Keme."
Fei bows to Casseus, then (for the first time since they met in the Materials and Supplies warehouse) he bows to Keme. He then turns and walks out of the square.

"Worse. She's my Patron. Esperanza means Hope. You can get away from a parent. This is not so easy. There are only two ways out: immortality, which I'm not interested in, or death, which I'm even less interested in. I made a deal with her a long time ago and got extra power....but I was too young and stupid then to know what a huge price tag it came with. I can do a lot of good with it. But it's not the sort of good anyone appreciates. Everyone thinks Hope is this delicate wonderful thing. It's not true. Hope's a b+##&, man."

Fei stops and glances back over his shoulder. His face has the barest hint of a smile.
"Then I will look forward to the day when you feel you can explain it to me plainly. There is always another dawn," he says with a nod, then turns back and heads out.
"Oh! I just remembered... The simrooms will let me do this so much faster. Sadie, i should have your sword done in what you see as about an hour and thirty minutes."
Keme ground his teeth in frustration. "Remind me to never ask Courage for help again. He's kind of a blockhead."
He ran his hand through his hair. "Of course that's the only reason I can talk to him...gah! This sucks."
"Oh! I just remembered... The simrooms will let me do this so much faster. Sadie, i should have your sword done in what you see as about an hour and thirty minutes."
Slowly Dom slides his fingers through his hair. "I guess your band wasn't as legendary as I have heard then." Dom knows there's more to it, but it seemed to him that this group needs something to kick them in gear. The rest of your band. Were they not some of the closest friends you ever had. If they were then why are you not trying to fix these problems? Sorry to sound preachy I just have noticed the better bands are like families.""I don't think that will be possible... our former bandmate is rather PO'd with Kam and myself."
Mel dances with Dom enjoying the activity.
After as theconversation turns toward the band members mel tries to slip away like someone that knows enough and does not want to get involved.
he smiles.
"Sure. Then we can play.'
Sun leads Settro to where he thinks Chara usually is.. if not there then he will try and use the arrows. but is a little apprehensive about using them it seems the arrows and Sun do not get along very well.
"Hay, chara, sun wants to tell you something."
Listens to Keme, but it's clear he doesn't have a clue what he's talking about, except for the parents bit.
Returns Fei's bow with a respectful nod.
"All o' ya'll non-demons are kinda...weird...to me, so par for the course, man. I always prefer blunt, myself. No mistaken feelings then."
"Hay, chara, sun wants to tell you something."
Chara looked up from the block tower that she was building with Dara. She grabbed the boy's wrist. "No, Dara, it's okay. You don't have to be scared. Mr. Settro is nice. Sun is nice too. Mr. Settro helps take away the pain when I get hurt."
"Hello, Mr. Settro. Hello, Sun. This is Dara. He's in my class, but he doesn't usually join us during lessons yet."
"Hay, chara, sun wants to tell you something."Chara looked up from the block tower that she was building with Dara. She grabbed the boy's wrist. "No, Dara, it's okay. You don't have to be scared. Mr. Settro is nice. Sun is nice too. Mr. Settro helps take away the pain when I get hurt."

Dara looked doubtful when she said he didn't need to be afraid and he hid behind a toy chest peering out now and then, clearly not ready to take Chara's word for it about them being nice.
Since both his girlfriend and band leader were ignoring him, Ace decides to grab some of the food brought in. He still hasn't managed to eat all that much today.

"I don't suppose you play pool too? There's a billiards room on the third floor of the dorm that almost nobody knows about. And a more than slight possibility that I acquired certain contraband beverages during this trip to town. In other words, I got some beers."

Chara, Midori and Sara asked me to have you go to the Home ec room. Sara's teddy is making Yukky-Ta's for a Tea party and they said they needed you there. Oh yeah the teddy bear talks and moves now, I don't know why or how but it does so don't be scared of it okay?
Sun then looks to Dara hi Dara, I'm Sun. I am a friend of Chara and I am also a companion to Lang. he sometimes takes Chara out flying. he might be able to take you flying too but not right now since he is not here.

Feeling confident she slipped away from the conversation. Mel works her way back to Ace.
I'm really sorry about that. but one of our other band members that is helping with set design and choreography just so happens to be the one from Taron's band that is rather pissed at him...I mean her. I wanted to be sure it was the right person.

Rena seems to glance oddly at the dragon girl, a strange expression on the unreadable face of the creature of the Dream. Still more whispering. "I... don't even have organs for that kinda thing. I've never understood why people are so fascinated with it anyway. Even Vare seems to have those kind of desires."

Four, did I mention the first two parts? And above all else... it really is healthy, over all, lots of exercise in it. You should try it out one day, if you can get around to it. Talk to some girls about it or ...I guess dragon things." Tryko'Sam shrugged at Rena.
Apparently, he's happy to try explain, but it only can go so far.

With a slightly surprised expression Dom replies. "Really? How distant of a relitive are you two?" He looks between both Raelle and Taron wondering which will awnser.

Vare leans back in the seat and hangs a hand out the side of the skimmer as they go along, looking a little youthful for a moment. He is, after all, younger than Ephebe, though not by much, especially with Ephebe's time madness. "So tell me Headmistress, what is your motivation to continue to teach here?"

She looks curiously at the camera and then back to her mom. "Was the other fire arson too? Geez, the town isn't having a good day. Why do crises always happen so close together?"

"Well, I guess I'd need to be polymorphed or something first... I don't exactly have a species after all, I'm one of a kind." While the words might sound a bit prideful, Rena says them simply and without hint of postering. "I don't reproduce... I'm not even technically female, but it's easier to identify as such."
"I will take your word on the intimacy and feeling good portions, and say that I will try it at some point, perhaps." she sorta 'shrugs' her wings, or at least, they go up and down at their base. Probably a shrug, she does pick up some humanoid habits after a while.
She obviously not rushed or all that interested in it, though that may be as previous mentioned, lack of natural instinct to reproduce. "So, do you want to stay in town just in case? You didn't seem too sure when Vai said she couldn't see anything."

Ehos pauses to think for a moment, pondering something silently. ::Do you think it was her that convinced those idiots that summoning a Marilith was a good plan?::

"So, other than adorable little familiars, what does our resident alchemist make? Potions of shocking variety I suspect, though I am looking forward to being surprised."

Carl give Arthur a quick kick on the leg to make him shut up.
"sorry mam hes a bit of a burn still this one, he don't know the diffidence from a wee fumble in the bush's and real ladys like ya selvs"
Sun looks on and smiles
