Tryko'Sam wrote:

Gliding through the opening, Tryko'Sam seems 'trained' at going somewhat limp when someone grabs him, they return to the sewer hole that Rena is in, and the portal behind Vai shuts again.

Dropped off near the top of the room, where Rena is, Vai's free to float in the air on her own.

"Wow, didn't know you could teleport with others, Vai, that's handy. And here I was trying to save you, sort of... ah well. I'll know better next time. Rena, you okay? Did you get it?"

He looks around assessing.

The little bits of metal in Rena's HUGE mouth, are a bit hard for her to keep, given pointy teeth, but, she can manage to get one or two parts.

Depending on Vai's senses at this point, there's no more bursts of high frequency communication going on from the area.

"I can only take people with me if I can see where I'm going, I don't like teleporting into solid objects. And I wouldn't have been able to bring you if you hadn't want me to." Vai responds shyly. If Tryko'Sam is paying attention that kinda thing, Vai had started shaking about halfway towards their landing, though her grip on him had never wavered such that he felt as though he might fall. She visibly shaking and pale after releasing him but trying to ignore it, instead focusing on what Rena was going to say in response to Tryko'Sam's question.

Rena stuck her tongue out to Tryko'Sam to display whatever fragments she had managed to hold in her mouth. Hopefully he takes the pieces so that she can speak properly. She looks much less wondrous, covered now with crap as she is. "I definitely bit it, but it broke up into a bunch of little pieces like that. I'm not sure if it's dead or just going to reform... Vare and I have fought things like that before. Just when you think it's dead it comes back." Rena says, and she looks torn on whether or not to start to clean herself off, but decides against it. All three of them definitely were... pungent, to be generous.

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

Vai shakes her head in the negative, looking around with those tiny pupils as she has before. "I don't think it is still alive. It was sending radio transmissions before, and now I'm not detecting any at all. What was it? I never quite got a good look at it."

"It was a metallic bug of some kind." Rena responds, her tail swishing forward to point at the cubes now being held by Tryko'Sam. "Made up of a bunch of those. It was definitely some kind of metal. What do you make of those?" Rena pokes one of the cubes with the tip of her tail, before realizing there was gunk on that too. "And can we leave as quickly as possible? I... we're covered in excrement and urine. Even I feel gross. What is with things on this plane and needing to excrete disgusting things from their body?"

Ace smiles at Mel's teasing. "Hey, I'm pretty excited too ya know. We have the makings of becoming one of the best bands ever, if not the best"

Male Humanoid

Tryko'Sam grins at the girls for a moment, taking the small bit into his fingers-- he's feeling it between thumb and index, then brings it up to examine closely, clearly not giving a damn about his state of filth.

Looking back at the two he adds, "Just ... nasty memories, profound sadness and anger-- I'm not sure just yet, obviously, why. Is there a river near here, or something, for us to bathe in? I could get us there pretty quick, I just don't want to pollute drinking water."

With that, he glances around some more and then adds, "At the very least, I can help us get out of here again." Another portal suddenly spawns, silent, revealing the alleyway they'd been at just earlier. There's no indication on Tryko'Sam's features or the like of effort when doing this, and he steps on through just as it manifests.

His voice can be heard through it, and he's easily seen, saying, "I'm ... still concerned, but it's good to know you can destroy them with your bite, Rena. What was that green glow you tried, Vai?" He holds up the small bit in his finger, still 'feeling' it as if it were helping his memory.

He does still seem rather serious and 'business' like, not the jovial sort from before-- it's a notable difference in temperament, and a testament to his acting skills, if any.

"If we do have this bit, though... we could do a scan or something, right? For like metals? Or is that not something capable with magic or tech here?" He waits for them to come on through, the portal easily sized for Rena's size to get through it, and clean air back to them.

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

"We can definitely have it scanned, my Mom could handle that. She can scan it on a molecular level for us." Vai says simply as she casts a cantrip and begins to clean off at least some of the more digusting stuff from the group and erasing, if only temporarily, the smell clinging to them. This is of course, done /after/ the group exits the sewer back into the alleyway. "We should be able to get back to the school now and shower. We'll start smelling again in like an hour if we don't." she seems to be quite relieved to be clean, and the shaking triggered by holding Tryko'Sam has gradually faded. "The green glow was a spell which breaks things apart into dust. I missed though... there's probably a chunk of the wall down there missing from it." that last bit was said a bit sheepishly.

With the adrenaline of battle slowly fading away from her system, Vai looks around once again. "So, let's head back to the school and get properly cleaned up and changed. I at least should also head to the infirmary and get checked for infections. Sewers are not exactly hygenic places."

"After that we'll meet with my Mom and have it scanned. How does that plan sound?" she says seriously, apparently matching Tryko'Sam's business-like manner with her own focus on problem solving.

"Uh... can I use that Sim room you had setup last night Tryko'Sam? It seems our excursions to town always end up in me needing a bath." Rena asks, decidedly more cheerful now that most of the crap was cleaned off, and they were back into a place where she could actually spread her wings and flap them. Despite not needing them to fly, it seemed that her instinct was to flap them anyway.

Male Humanoid

"We ought to make sure your beam hasn't disrupted the sewer, I'll check in with a town person on that, another time- Vai, you get this scanned, but, keep an eye on it. I ... Something about these creatures and technology, bad mixture. I am vaguely recalling metal and them as a lethal combination." The latter said with another glance back towards the grate.

"If I were a betting person, and I don't recall any habit of the sort, I'd say this isn't over. The important thing is to identify if more of this metal is out there, maybe even the small bits, or those signals you picked up, are at work. See if this metal is unique somehow. If we do run into another, we may want to capture it, if possible. I'm just thinking aloud at this point." He does smile after speaking though, apparently somewhat happy.

"Search town some more, or get this to your mother? How quick can you get this to her and return? Spotting the transmissions might be our best bet if they keep using that, unless we can determine a better method." Now he looks towards Kuros from the alley, thoughtful expression on his now cleaned features.

He looks back to Vai to see her opinion, while removing his shirt for a moment to shake it and examine it. While they are talking, he examines Rena to make sure she's not injured, then Vai.

"I can get you that rain SIM easily enough, Rena, if you wanted to jet there right now. I think I'll scout around a bit more first, just in case, myself." He glances once more to the two and waits on their choices.

"Are you both okay? No injuries? Disgusting, sure, but-we're out of there. Excitement over for now. Wait, did you say earlier you fought something like this before, Vai?" He didn't inquire on her shaking, but perhaps this was his way of checking with her.

Seeing as how Ryo seems to be at a temporary loss, Denulia finally speaks aloud for all to hear. "Tell me Jaiye: yours a species of hunters, yes? Tell me, which is better for catching prey: chasing after it or lying in wait for it to make a mistake?"

Jaiye considered her answer carefully, her posture changing considerably as she did, showing an almost military discipline.

"Both. You chase the prey to keep them off-balance, to tire them out, keep them from having time to switch strategies, to isolate them, keep them on the defensive. You chase the prey to drive them in the direction you want them to run which is straight into the trap. That is how a pack works. But in order to use pack tactics we first have to flush the prey out of hiding. Which means we need to know where it's most likely to have gone to ground. We need bait to drive it out of hiding. And in a case like this since it's likely a shapeshifter we need a way to mark it so we can continue the pursuit once we find it. Generally a wound or a bad scent would be used to mark such a one, but again, in this case we have special circumstances. We're hunting without a full pack and there's a good chance we'd lose the prey again without some more reliable way to mark it. And we need a way to convince the prey that we're stronger in numbers than we are."

"My Mom could whip us up something that could triangulate radio signals, but again... not response from her yet." Gee, the last people who did this died horribly and caused the deaths of several other students and teachers...I know, let's try it too....it can't go that badly a second time. Bloody morons, the lot of them. Why can't they ever be trying to summon something nice? Why does it always have to be demons?"

"It's a nice way of saying reckless, Tanaka-senpai." Repp responds evenly, with a charming smile, obviously not feeling superior in any way simply because he has a larger vocabulary.

Keme, Casseus and Fei may spot the figure of Vai some two hundred feet overhead. She seems to be circling around the city, as if searching for something.

A thin woman opens the door after a few seconds pass. Although her figure and complexion would place her in her early-mid 40's, streaks of gray already run through the roots of her hair.

"Can I- oh. Hello. What can I help you with this evening?"
"Hello, pardon the interruption. I would like to introduce Ephebe BLackscales, the Headmistress at Avalon's school for younger children. She would like to extend a formal invitation to your daughter to attend Avalon." As he spoke, Vare swept his arm to indicate the extremely young looking Ephebe.

"Good evening," she said with a pleasant smile. "I apologize for the abruptness of this visit. I'm sure you're quite busy. Especially with children to take care of. And I know that children with special abilities can be an extra challenge to care for. I would be more than happy to discuss the matter with you and answer any questions you might have. Whether you decide that Avalon is the right place for your daughter or not, you should know that it is an option either now or in the future."

Throw me a few Perception checks, Vai. Say three. You're peering around for 5 minutes, right?

"She may also use it as a negotiating tactic...an attempt to ensure we won't use lethal force against her....whether she is a demon or is simply working with one, the symbol she put on Ehos, the way it flared when it did...this tells us something of her motivations, at least it does if Phaezeriel's interpretation of that symbol's purpose is correct. Either she or whoever she's working on likely feeds on negative emotions...she'll need to find someplace where those are plentiful or she'll need to create them."

"Which she has already done - though you both seem to have risen above that. You are doing very well thus far. Are you sure you actually require Ryo and I's assistance? You seem capable enough already - simply treat this like a hunt Jaiye. I suspect you will be forced to bait this woman out of whatever hole she lurks, but beyond that, all three of you seem competant and able to take this on. Ryo and I were just informed of a much larger threat - one that affects the whole planet - and unfortunately I must direct my Sight towards that problem, else I would offer more of my abilities. The best we can do is guide you." Denulia says calmly, not allowing any emotion on this entire matter to dispaly. "I am surprised you have not enlisted Tyrrin's aid in this matter... are you so ashamed Ehos?"

The look on Ehos' face is pretty clear - yes, he is that ashamed.

Yup.

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

"Ah. Reckless was the word I was looking for," she said with a cheerful smile. "Thank you, Repparyn-san."
