I've been feeling a bit down today. Nothing serious. I just have a toothache, and that's bound to leave anyone feeling a bit in the dumps. So I've been trying to think about positive things instead, and I thought I would share since I've never had anyone complain about being publicly praised. ;)
So I just wanted to say how much I appreciate both Damiani and Icehawk. You guys have both been doing a lot of work to contribute to the story and bring in new and interesting elements.
Dami, I really love how descriptive your posts are. And if any of y'all have a chance to join in with one of Dami's stories, do eet! They're awesome! :)
Icehawk, I remember when you first joined this game and you really struggled to live outside of the rigidity of rules. And now I really look forward to seeing what cool new thing you've come up with next. You definitely help make it fun for me. :)I love all of the rest of y'all too, and I've got plenty more nice things to say because this is an awesome group. But that's all for now. :)
Why thank you.
Your feedback is much appreciated. I often cut back on my details feeling the extra is not desired, but great to hear.
I do enjoy storytelling (sometimes more than being a player) so you're most welcome. Happy to weave story were wanted.
Best.

More random compliments:
MisterLurch, I really enjoy how emotionally nuanced your characters are. Even when there isn't much actually happening, you really draw me in with just how complex and layered the story becomes simply through their reactions to it. All of the feels, man, all of the feels. :)
Magic, I love the inherent optimism of your characters. When things threaten to get too grimdark, they provide a very necessary opposing viewpoint to reel things back in. You have consistently been good at encouraging the people around you both in and out of character, and I really appreciate that about you. :)

Monkeygod |

Ice, I 100% agree with you on having tons of character concepts tumbling through my head. Pretty much every new movie, show, game, book, etc gives me a new character idea.
Thankfully Avalon is a great place to try them out. Being allowed to play more than one PC at a time is beyond awesome.
My suggestion? Even if you think a given concept would be an awful fit for whatever reason, give it a shot here anyways.
Worst case? You were right and you retire the character or maybe it becomes a villain. Best case, you find a new awesome PC to play.
That's probably one of the best things about this game: you can't exactly fail with a character, like you could in any sort of normal game.

Thank you, Lyn. Coming from you, I take that as a very high complement, indeed.

lynora |

Well, Lyn, I'm not so sure there is much to compliment about little boring old flawed me.
Well, it sounds like someone needs to jump to the front of the line. ;P
V, I really appreciate your attention to detail. You like to be very precise about things. Drives me nuts sometimes, but even so I appreciate how it helps keep the realism of the story on track. That can be hard to remember to do when working with so many fantasy elements. I like that you bring in a new and different perspective.

Lord Foul, I love how good you are at playing emotionally complicated characters. You're not afraid to do awful things to them in the name of story either, something it should come as no surprise that I approve of. I enjoy reading your characters' scenes immensely and look forward to more of them in the future. :)
Kryzbyn, you are a delight to game with. And I'm not just saying that because you play the other half of my favorite couple. (They're like Morticia and Gomez...so adorable you almost don't notice how creepy they are. :P) You are always up for some good story and the characters you play bring a lot of depth to this game world. I'm always eager to see what they're going to do next because it's often a surprise, and that's hard to do. :)

lynora |

I noticed several characters are looking for someone who might be in a barn or similar.
I figure Copper, wandering off somewhere might be in the wrong place at the wrong time. So who is running that storyline?
That would be me. If you want, Copper can be in the first structure flagged. It's the closest one to Kuros, and with those rolls, definitely not the one they're looking for. :P

"Ace" |

I have no idea if Ace would be 'immune to the influence of a greater succubus' or not.
I think so? He's immune to charms and compulsions and I don't think she'll be able to sway him with just words.

Well, he was. But the connection with Ginni's mind means he's not immune to her. I believe I told you that would be the case when he did it.

And the Demon in Ginni's mind .. well .. okay, fine, the other Demon in Ginni's mind is Ginni.

the latter thing you approve of is something you can thank this game for
I used to hate doing that to my characters

The heart of creative writing is making characters who you love and then doing awful, awful things to them. Glad to be of service in improving your writing. ;D

Yet more random compliments!
Ed, I find your characters to be funny, poignant, and above all interesting. I know that sometimes you get discouraged, especially when a story doesn't go the way you expected. (Getting a story to go the way you expect in this setting is like trying to herd butterfly-kittens hyped up on energy drinks.) But even when plans go sideways, I find your characters delightful. I always look forward to seeing how they will react to things. :)
Monkeygod, I love your enthusiasm. You really put your heart into your characters and I think it's really cool how you just throw yourself into their mindset. It makes it so fun to play scenes with your characters. :)

Monkeygod |

Thanks Lyn!
With Ace, it's pretty easy as he is basically an exaggerated version of myself IRL. Which is probably why I focus on him the most, aside from him being my first character and this being active longest. It's a lot of fun playing a fantasy RPG version of yourself!
I think I'm going to create Ten Minute Backgrounds for all my PCs, to better play them, as well as help others when interacting with them along with potential plot hooks.

Question,
Is the Golarion solar system in our universe at all?
If so, would it be in Empire territory, even if not necessarily controlled by them?
If not, I need to figure out where the Kasathas come from then.
Perhaps one of the other gem dragon planets?

Yes, but it would be unrecognizable now because it's in Empire territory and under Empire control. Some refugees from that system no doubt exist on Agartha or other gem dragon worlds, preserving bits and pieces of the culture and history, but that's about it.

Eeeek! Really?
*does some editing in mind*

Funny enough, I love Pathfinder as a system, but I loathe Golarion as a setting. I..uhhh...might be taking out that vitriol a teensy tinsy bit on its fictional counterpart here....
For me, Golarion is like that one Wolverine movie that shall not be named because we try to pretend it never happened; it ought to work. It has all the right elements, and the sorts of action and characters I like to see. But somehow when you put it all together like that it's just awful.
I think the only setting I hate more is Forgotten Realms. Bloody Elminster ruining everything for everybody... :P

Whenever I attempt to run a setting, I have to handmake it.
I can't run a premade setting/story, it seems like you might as well just be playing agaisnt the book at that point.

Yes! This! So much this! I don't have time to study enough to keep to canon. And when setting canon makes me go 'but that's not how things work' the whole thing falls apart. We tried. Multiple times. Although I think Rise of the Rune Lords was the most spectacular failure. Political inconsistencies for the total derail! A custom setting is just so much easier. You can actually keep it consistent. :)

Random Compliments (last installment)
Dalesman, first off many much thanks for providing so much of the setting that makes this game cool. Not that we stuck to the book or anything, but it made such a great jumping off point! :)
But even more, I want to say how much I appreciate your general aura of calm. So many times you have helped keep me grounded when I was about to lose my s#*&. Or at least let me know when no, I was not overreacting. I am a much better GM for having you as a sounding board. Thank you for that.
DB3, you're the one who got me into this mess in the first place, and all I have to say to that is thank you! There have been times when my enthusiasm has flagged, and every time you've reminded me why I got into this in the first place. Basically you inspire me. You're like my muse or something. ;)

Where would raelle's father be located?
(Assuming you want me to write the first post regarding him actually arriving)

He'll be in Ephebe's office, checking on the younger girls and Fieri. Once you're inside the school, the arrows would take you right there.

Settro |

Hmm.
Guess I might have somone to show a few things to.

"Ace" |

Lyn, since Ace's immunity is racial vs class or magic based, would it be possible for him to gain a bonus ala Mind Blank as opposed to loosing total immunity/protection?
Also, he'll still be allowed saves n such, correct? And any bonuses to them?

Igni: you might see flying into a window
Vis: if someone is half human would it mess up the detect internals spell?
Nvm I just remembered that grim has a symbiote, and even if grim himself wouldn't count the symbiote very much is an outsider (and upon realizing this I realize that a banishment spell would really screw him up.)

Undead also trigger the scroll, so it's kinda a double-dose.

icehawk333 |

Wait… Would it not always glow then?
Not really. 30 feet isn't a large amount of space, and considring only Vis, Gareth, and grim are on the room, there are only 3 real options.
Also, asked lyn way back when I first made Vis- native outsiders don't count for internals, as far as Vis's Magic is concerned.
...
That said...
Even if it was to always be glowing, Vis would Probobly be acting the same.
