Oh now, puppets are cute, exaggerated little things one can manipulate with a single hand, usually ;)
Mal, to your question- if we find ourselves in close quarters, dungeoncrawling, the Haste would be lovely. So would a Fireball right down the middle, so I'm good with pretty much everything at your disposal. If we can keep our distance, the flame would be divine. Firing two arrows at a time was great. I'm sure firing a single, flaming arrow would also do nicely... oh the choices...

Just out of curiosity, if I were to start another AP PBP, would you all be interested? If so, what would you most like to do?
This probably won't be for at least a year (I have a few mods I want to run first), so it could be Hell's Rebels if you think that one sounds interesting. Or whatever follows that, though I don't expect that to get many votes at this point.
Tsin Windscar |
Nice!! We'll just have to taffy-pull Reign for the rest of the year ;)
I've enjoyed CurseoftheCrimsonThrone, LegacyofFire, WrathoftheRighteous, and AgeofWorms, so I'd welcome any of the other APs, including unannounced ones :)
Hektir the Tracksmage |
Hmm....
For 3.5:
Shackled City
Age of Worms
Savage Tide
Pathfinder:
Rise of the Runelords
Curse of the Crimson Throne
Second Darkness
Legacy of Fire
Council of Thieves
Kingmaker
Serpent's Skull
Carrion Crown
Jade Regent
Skulls and Shackles
Shattered Star
Reign of Winter
Wrath of the Righteous
Mummy's Mask
Iron Gods
Giantslayer
Hell's Rebels
Other:
Way of the Wicked
Scales of War
Of those, I would love:
Rise of the Runelords (a classic that I have yet to PbP beyond the first 1/2 of book 1...so many fails)
Second Darkness
Jade Regent
Mummy's Mask
Iron Gods (I can't believe it, but I sort of do)
Hell's Rebels
Way of the Wicked

So long as I'm not at max capacity, I'd jump at the chance to play with any of you folks again. And in that vein, there are three adventures which I have particular interest in.
1) Like Painlord, I've never gotten out of Book 1 of Rise of the Runelords. It's tragic. I'd love to take a run at it with a faithful group.
2) I've played through a large portion of Council of Thieves before and I think that one would be a TON of fun; with this group in particular. A *TON* of fun.
3) Of all the adventures that have been published, Age of Worms is the only one on my bucket list though. I'd love the chance to play through that one.
So, those are my top three.
I've little to no interest in Iron Gods or Way of the Wicked, but apart from that pair, I think I'd be down for just about anything, regardless of whether they're in my dream list or not. =)

I have GM'd two full campaigns of RotRL, and am playing in one now and I do love it. I wouldn't mind the chance to play it from start to bloody finish either. Age of Worms would be cool, too, if Mott doesn't mind some conversions!

So, for the future AP, using Hektir's handy list:
For 3.5:
Shackled City I've run it before, probably not interested in doing so again, especially since it's got the world's most oversized dungeons.
Age of Worms Tsin -; Mal ++, Pems +
Savage Tide Currently running this.
Pathfinder:
Rise of the Runelords Hektir +, Pems +, Quinn +; this seems like a popular choice, but I'm already playing through it, even if I did start in like Book 3...
Curse of the Crimson Throne Tsin -
Second Darkness Hektir +; another one I'm playing through and thus don't want to run
Legacy of Fire Tsin -
Council of Thieves Mal +, Quinn +
Kingmaker already running this one
Serpent's Skull
Carrion Crown
Jade Regent Hektir +
Skulls and Shackles Pems +; I would consider this; I tried twice to play in it and both times it petered out pretty quickly. Seems like it could be fun..
Shattered Star
Reign of Winter Don't think we need to play this one twice
Wrath of the Righteous I'm playing through this one; Tsin -
Mummy's Mask Hektir +, Quinn +
Iron Gods Hektir +, Mal -
Giantslayer Playing in this one
Hell's Rebels Hektir +
Other:
Way of the Wicked Hektir +, Mal -
Scales of War
--
So top choice at the moment actually looks like Mummy's Mask, which would also have the benefit of my already owning it. That said, we can look again when we get closer to doing this, which as I said probably won't be for a while still.
Hektir the Tracksmage |
3 people marked this as a favorite. |
Isn't Mummy's Mask off the table for Malavarius, since he's already playing a dried-up, old walking corpse?
Just the same, isn't Jade Regent off the table for Tsin? Plenty chock full of harpies already.

If there's any group that could do a bone fide megadungeon in pbp, I'd think this one would be capabale, but, in general, I'm leary of megadungeons in this format. They are, basically, a huge, sprawling network of doors. And doors, well, they can slow things down pretty darn badly.
Tsin Windscar |
Yep, I agree with Mal- the whole massive dungeon thing feels like the movie 'Cube'. Initially, I'd imagine it would be quite exhilarating... then after the 156th door, maybe not so much... I have no real idea about the dungeon, save for its grandness, and apparently its colossal greeness according to Pems and its title :)

I don't know enough about the Spire. Does it have a story and a point? Is it RP driven?
/me spits near the Emerald Spire, but not upon it.

I'm considering enchantment foil for my second 4th level spell, specifically for Tsin, but it's a got a range of personal. Best I could do for you Tsin would be to make a wand that you could then use yourself since it's on your spell list. Who knows when we'll next have time for that though? I still need to replace my wand of scorching ray!
Is that worth doing at this point, do we think? I'm leaning more toward the alternative at the moment: remove curse.

Grateful for the concern, Mal, but I think your leanings are always spot-on. Tsin's getting another Will bump this level, so we can look towards future finagling, depending on how often she still turns liability :)
And thank you, Quinn- flight is great, as is anything that helps bring down our foes faster...

I'm a floating language slut!
I will. I think I'll sink it into Draconic, since that seems to be a useful sort of language to know, or can I learn Iobarian after hanging with Erdija for a while? Hmmm, I might actually redistribute a skill point and throw another point in Linguistics and take both, if it's possible. Pem's a polyglot!
Also, I'll take +1 Intelligence for my 8th level bump.
Mott, I'm new to this witchy business: is this an appropriate time to try to teach my familiar a spell or two from a scroll?
motteditor RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16 |
You can move points if you want; I'm fine with you taking Iobarian now.
As for learning spells from a scroll: A witch can use a scroll to teach her familiar a new spell. This process takes 1 hour per level of the spell to be learned, during which time the scroll is burned and its ashes used to create a special brew or powder that is consumed by the familiar. This process destroys the scroll. At the end of this time, the witch must make a Spellcraft check (DC 15 + spell level). If the check fails, the process went awry in some way and the spell is not learned, although the scroll is still consumed.
If you want to do that beneath a carnivorous tree, that's your business. :)

FYI, I don't know what my posting will be like for the next week or so. My wife is leaving May 1 to start med school in the Caribbean. She's not working next week and obviously I want to spend as much time with her as I can. That said, I also post from work, so it's possible there will be no disruption in our usual schedule.
I expect to be back to normal posting sometime May 2-5.
