Level 9!
HP: 1d6 ⇒ 2
+1 Fort
+1 Ref
+9 skill points (+1 Knowledge (arcana, geography, history, local, planes, & religion), Perception, Spellcraft, Use Magic Device)
+1 2nd lvl spell slot

+2 5th lvl spells added to book break enchantment
Suggestions for a 2nd non-enchantment, non-necromancy 5th level spell to add to my spellbook? I’m at a bit of a loss. Break enchantment was the only one I really had my eye on.
Also still thinking on an appropriate feat.
EDIT: HOLY TERDBALLS, I took Toughness at level 1 and haven't given myself the extra hps from it from level 4 and one. Aiyiyi! +6 more to my max hp!
EDIT 2: PISS-ON-STICK, I'm out of pages in my spellbook! Crap for crap!

I'm a sucker for Fire Snake, but that ain't exactly Mal material, but would be a 'hot' pick anyway. Outside of that Teleport is infinitely handy as it can get us re-geared as necessary. Failing that, I love me the Wall of Stone.
Feat? Fast Study. Leave a spell slot open at each level. From there you can better mix and match what you need.

I had greater spell penetration in my notes for something to pick up and geyser as well for a 5th level spell. Not sure on geyser though. Fire snake has potential, but I'm more keen on the suggested teleport or maybe passwall over that one.
His prohibited spell schools come into play now as feeblemind would've been an autopick otherwise. Golly.

Hey guys,
In an effort to speed things up, why don't you tell me the usual order you'd like to learn information about foes when you ID them (for here and S&S). That way I can simply post that information as the default when you make your checks. You can always ask for something else specific when you make your check, but I think this'll help keep us going.
Malavarius King |
Mal's typical questions:
What the devil is that thing? (In addition to what it's called, what types or subtypes does it have?)
How the blazes are we supposed to hurt it? (Special defenses?)
Good grief, what about it hurting us? (Special attacks?)
Maybe I can use some fancy magics to help. (SR? Then lowest save?)
Would it/they know where my good hat is? (Should probably be the only question worth asking, but I need to contribute to the party's success somehow.)

+1 to what Mal said.
Name is default, when applicable.
DR is usually #1.
Special Attacks is usually #2.
SR is #3.

That was a strange one. The binding spell was for hedged prison, which says "The subject is transported to or otherwise brought within a confined area from which it cannot wander by any means. This effect is permanent."
So I decided that prevent the creature from leaving under its own power, but that nothing would prevent something else from moving it out of the area...
But then it got a saving throw -- which it would normally not even resist, since it doesn't want to be trapped. But I figured the spell would prevent it from choosing to fail the save (not that it mattered).
Then it technically wasn't in range, but since it wasn't a major enemy, I figured we didn't need to waste time in combat...
Still not 100 percent sure the dismissal should have worked in opposition to the binding, but whatever... (Curious to get your thoughts, though, which is why I'm posting this.)
Malavarius King |
Not a major enemy???! It's a flipping demonspider the size of an ELEPHANT! I can think of no possible enemy LESS major than that!
=P
As for adjudicating it, from the bit of hedged prison you shared, I think you had the right of it. Unable to leave on it's own power. The voluntarily failing the will save part does muddy things a bit, and I'm not entirely sure how to approach that. I think, if hedged prison is mind affecting, then yeah, it would prevent willfully failing a fort save vs dismissal or the like.

Um, my Herolab, and previous Level was 9, going on 10... unless we need to halt our leveling actions...

Starting Thursday, my posting may be a bit limited. The ol' ball and chain's home through Jan. 3. I still expect I'll post during some of that time (I have to work some days and we don't tend to spend every single minute together) but if I'm slow on the uptake, that's why.
Obviously this goes for S&S too...

Remind me what curse? Oh, and thanks, that reminds me...
To fix that, we ate curse fixing stew.

LOL, totally forgot about that. More bad GM'ing.
Yes, we'll say the stew cured that.
That's appreciated. It saves me from a LOT of complaining. :)
Also, it's not bad GMing. We're all in this together and it's our job as players to remember things like that.
