Okay, guys, it's been a couple of days, so I'd like to see if I can get a little more clarity for both of us.
Father Husk gave you each some gifts according to your requests (and decision to permit him), and then took you through a series of tunnels, giving you lots of information (if you want to hear it), but ultimately leading you to what amounts to (for it) a locked door.
We are currently at a point in a game where I need people to make some decisions. So far, Sunny has noted that she "stays in the back" of the group, while Shaedo has offered to go forward, so long as someone has gone with her, which I believe Dijiron is doing (as he rolled a fortitude save, indicating he's in the flies/webbing).
First: do I have all of that correctly?
Second: that would be a technical minimum necessary to progress the plot. Should I do so, or continue to wait for more input?
Third: is anything in need of clarification from my end?

"Sunny" |

Nope, that reads about right. Sorry for putting Sunny at the back.. Just being so 'big' and all I don't want her mucking up others chances of sneaking and such.
So... we're all gathered near this door and kind of working out the best way to open it and deal with what's on the other side, yes?

Shaedo Silverpaws |

That sounds good to me. Shaedo has shared what she heard and sees about the gate. Shaedo understands that basically there is a military rally of gobby-gobs on the other side of the gate, but she has not understood exactly what they are saying (so anyone with linguistics might try to decipher!)
Shaedo is ready to move forward, but she'd prefer not to venture beyond the gate all along, just because it sounds like there are a lot of gobs out there.
On the other hand, she wants to get out of these fly-webs, so I'll post with stealth and fort. soon. Shaedo's stealth is very good now, and she can attempt to disable the device, but I think Ceru would be better at that part.

Ceru |

I am back but now catching up with post vacation stuff. Will post as soon as I can.
Don't have time to post now but if you want to roll for Ceru on some appropriate Knowledge checks, or Disable Device, please feel free.

Shaedo Silverpaws wrote:@ Vitreous, I love having another shapeshifter in the party! I suggest Vitreous attempt a particularly cunning and sly (read: foxy) deception, then maybe he'll turn into a fox! I think you'd like a fox form, and that way the foxes will have the rats matched in the party. ;)Nonsense, the rats are so awesome they count three times. The rats shall reign triumphant forever!
Ha! Well, well, Shaedo has two tails! Two tails, one fox- and that's gotta count as three or even four there, and then Kallisti is a celestial fox! Just wait till I get more tails, then we'll see who reigns and triumphs!
(~_^)

GM Tacticslion |

Awesome! Glad to see you, DQ! Take your time: I just like to know what's going on with people and what we're thinking in general.
Shaedo, I'll let you know now: the lock on the door is only on the other side, out of reach from the hallway itself. You're going to have to enter the room and visually ascertain what you see there before you can unlock the door. I'll probably update either tonight if a few more people post, or tomorrow if they don't. :D
EDIT: Don't forget to check the new Roll20 map! EDIT: In the campaign tab!

Understood, GM. I've rolled fortitude, stealth, and have my invisibility contingency plan, should things get bad. Shaedo is going for the lock, where-ever it may be. I shall await the responses from others, and the other post to come. Thanks for the clarification!
(^_^)

GM Tacticslion |

Glad to hear it Shaedo.
As a GM, I feel obligated to remind this group of two things before we fully proceed.
One: Read the survival spoiler on the bottom of this post, as Shaedo not only made the DC, but stream-of-conscious'd it to all of you.
Two: Do look at your equipment list for me. At least once. :)
Three: Yes, I know, thank you, I can, in fact count; we'll call this "bonus" Vitreous, your slippers are able to comfortably used as slippers... or as socks (at least temporarily comfortably).
EDIT: Also, Layla has given me the gist of her actions, so it is likely I will update later today.

"Sunny" |

Sunny pulls her goggles/glasses down over her eyes... and makes sure her fire 'proof' foot gear is on/in place.
*Grumbles Foot squishin', toe curlin'... things...*
Sunny seems to prefer padding around in her bare, brown feet. (^_~)

Ceru |

Tac, could I make a suggestion? I greatly appreciate your level of detail in terms of storytelling, but your posts are very long, and get a little hard to follow, especially as they are broken up a lot by the skill check possibilities, etc.
Would you mind breaking up your posts for the very lengthy descriptions?
This is what I'm thinking, something like:
POST 1:
Brief summary: You enter a room, with a door on the north end, and an ornate fresco on the east wall. Goblins are in the corner.
The FRESCO ON THE EAST WALL depicts a number of very interesting, explicitly described things here.
Skill checks related to the Fresco on the East Wall
POST 2:
THE DOOR ON THE NORTH END is locked with a padlock and looks like it slides into the wall if the padlocked bar is released.
Skill checks related to the Door on the North End
POST 3:
THE GOBLINS are playing dice. There are four of them, armed with feather dusters and shields.
((etc. etc. etc.))
It might be easier to suss out what we're rolling for and what we want to focus on. Just a thought.

GM Tacticslion |

That does make a certain sense, DQ.
Would that format sit well with others?
If so, I'll look into changing it. (Habits, breaking them, etc., but I'll try.)
Alternate idea: would moving the DC stuff to a second post function just as well? Would that be preferred?
(NOTE: I do not prefer either, but since I thought of it, I figured I'd ask.)

Shaedo Silverpaws |

Shaedo is wishing that she had her swarm suit on by now, but she does prefer to have speed at the moment. (~_^) If I recall, she had her cleats on during the storm, and thus far has not taken them off. Though, she likely regrets lacking the foresight to put on her boots. (<_>)
**********************************************
As for the format of GM posts, I am not really experienced enough with PbPs to offer advice per se. However, I am presently involved with another game where the GM is the opposite of Tac, very short posts with hardly anything beyond the basic information. Of the two styles, I prefer the long, detailed posts, as that sets up an atmosphere for me. So, I don't have a lot to say at the moment as to what the format should be. Whatever seems to right to everyone is fine by me. However, my one request is, please be sure to maintain the level of detail whichever changes you make.
Sorry, all, for my delay in posting... Busy teacher getting ready for students this week... Will read and post more when I can... Feel free to bot me if necessary.
I meant to say this earlier: Layla you have all of my sympathies. I too am a teacher- though more of a sub and a temporary at a private language school, as a well as a temp for weekend testing and clerical marking. My life goes from very busy to very free. I have experienced the business of a teacher's life, and I can only imagine how crazy it can be as a full time profession. Hang in there, and hope to see you back in the gob smashin' action again soon!
EDIT: I'm heading off now, but I'll be back with a post later today! Best wishes to all! (^_^)

GM Tacticslion |

Shaedo: Thank you for the kind words! I hope my descriptions are still up to snuff. I will continue to make sure you've got a detailed, thorough idea of where and how things are. :)
Ceru: let me know if the post was any better. It might not be, but I'm not averse to critique. If it's not (and especially if it seems the same!) let me know, and give me some pointers on how restructuring it might look to your way of thinking. Thanks! :D

*Hugz the Dm* Thank'e muchly fer all'a yer had workin'. (^_^)

Layla the Twin-Blade |

Popping in to try and catch up...
Thanks, Shaedo! Yes, full-time teaching can get crazy. Lots of prep-work, planning, communication, grading, and feedback ... oh, yeah, plus the full days of actual teaching, combined with classroom management and emergency management (which can often be the same thing) ... but, I love what I do, and I wouldn't trade it. The students make it worth it! :)
I had Tac describe the basic jist of the situation for me this morning, then suggested that he could have Layla stealth through the gate, attempt to disable the lock on the outside of it so that Father Husk could pass through, and then attack any gobs she sees.
Now I'm going to see if I can actually catch up reading on the game thread and maybe make a post of my own...
Peace and best wishes to all! :)

Ceru |

That is easier, thanks for taking the extra time in something that I know you are already taking a lot of time to do!

GM Tacticslion |

I'm glad to, Ceru! I'm glad it's easier to read and follow, too.
Also... well, as a GM, I must say, I'm relatively surprised at how this combat is going so far. That said, Ceru, at least you do hit. Huh. I expected a tough fight, but... this is a bit... well, this first round is interesting, to say the least.
Touch attack v. a flat-footed target is a straight-up AC of 10 (or worse, if the target has negative DEX modifier). So... there's that at least.
If it's any consolation, guys, I was recently in another game where my character couldn't roll above a 7 in combat to save her life. (Literally, it was a combat of life and death.) As a lark I rolled a charisma to "make it fun". I rolled a 20. She is also exceedingly powerful - a triple-gestalt, high-power character. The enemy (exceedingly low CR creature) couldn't roll below a 16... and was effectively mindless. Took most of my health and half of my spells to defeat it. It was the first enemy in the game. I proceeded to wreck a number of skeletons, spend almost three minutes missing a homunculus that missed me, and then died setting off a trap that I knew was there, after taking lots of precautions, and rolling a 1 on my acrobatics check... and it rolling a critical with nearly max damage on the attack. She died. It's a single-player game. So, you know, I feel your frustration there... a lot.
We should make a t-shirt; something like: "Paizo Dice Roller: It's always there for you!" - I think they'd sell well! :D

This, a thousand times this. So... who wants to send an e-mail to their marketing department? XD[/ooc]
After Sunny's spectacular rolls in Wisdom etc, I'm kind of okay with her just spacing out.
Sorry to not be up with the posting. Shift work etc gets me every time. (When the dice roller isn't. :P)

Ahahahaha! That's a great idea! We could have it printed with the gray ooc text and then have a series of forum dice rolls in green with 1, 4, 5, + x for attack, damage, saves, and then charisma, 20. (~_^)
The knight in the harmor was creepy enough to begin with, now that she seems to be unaffected by anything people have thrown at her, she is quite terrifying.
I'm thinking we should either sick Father Husk on her, or come up with something... devious..... (Tehehe!) ... I'll have a post up soon. (^_^)

Ceru |

The black knight appears to be undead to us, right?
I'm thinking I might try to tag it with the wand of CLW if nothing else works, but I'll have to put Ceru in melee range for that...

"Sunny" |

Is okeys! I be a distraction! (^_^)
*Wonders if they should break out the 'Dance off' moves just yet...* (>_>)
XD

Shaedo Silverpaws |

*Gecker gecker gyak gecker... grumble *knowledge religion!* gecker, gyaka, gyak gecker grumble gecker....*
Tehehe! Fox sounds're fun. (~_^)
(CLW is a great idea Ceru- ooohhh, why not try to assassinate her with a CLWs spell! ;D)

Tacticslion |

We should make a t-shirt; something like: "Paizo Dice Roller: It's always there for you!" - I think they'd sell well! :D
For example, if you're curious. Just happened today. (Go me!)

Tacticslion |

As far as making another character... I dunno. I've died once, and then received a "second chance", as it were, to come back to life. While I flubbed that particular roll, I have one last shot at coming back to life. Whether or not I do, the GM has been more than fair. :)

"Sunny" |

I be ready! I am tryin' ta' be distractin' fer tha' iron lass. (^_^)

Shaedo |

I ninja'd up onto the slab, ready to knock the offering bowl over! 'Less I'm con-fused, I think that took up my actions for the current round, so I'm ready to spring to my feet and try my strength and dex to knock the bowl over once the gobsies' actions are resolved. (~_^)

Ceru |

Not sure what round? If its the round after I alchemist fired, I will spend the entire round loading a holy water vial, into my launcher. Otherwise I was waiting for that round to be official wrapped up.
Round 2 just started.

Sorry about my prolonged absence. Sunday was my birthday and I spent it and Monday sick to my stomach. I'm better now so I should post more regularly. Unfortunately I'm out of spells so I guess Frosty will do most of the fighting while Dijiron runs away.
EDIT: It turns out I have one spell remaining. Thank the gods I put that remaining abilities thing up. I should really do that with every in-game post.

*Group Birth-day hugz!* (^_^)
*Rubs poor Dijiron's tummy trying to help sooth their ills*

"Sunny" |

An' tha' dice roller be simply won'erful right now. :(

Dijiron |

Thanks for the well-wishes. My stomach is fine now.
Damn that Black Knight! So yeah I'm functionally useless now except my protective aura. Let me know here if anyone wants it. It works in a 10ft radius centered on me.
Also yes Frosty attacks the goblin until there is only the Knight then attacks it.

Tacticslion |

If you're referring to my untimely death... she's fine. She's gotten better, and manage to level up to second level as well. Could have been much worse... and two or three more hits it would have been.
If you're referring to my future choices, I'm thinking of eventually going with the Master Chymest for my alchemist levels. I had a couple of other ideas, but I'm out of time... thunderstorm! :D

Shaedo |

Shaedo: Pffft. Well, there goes my "greed trap" plus you've done some... interesting... things to my boss monster! Hmf. Evil GM Tac will now go pout in a corner... (except he won't).
"Huh, whut? Whheeeeeeeee! This ish the besht com-bat eva'!" *giggles* (~_^)
