... I am become hate, destroyer of worlds. The Campaign tab. I was editing for convenience, readability, and fixing the error I noted above. I attempted to post the update, and Paizo.com took me to #newPost. I hate #newPost. It had not updated. Still, I figured "I can fix this." and I hit "back". I pasted what I had saved over what was there. In an attempt to hit "preview" I hit "submit" instead. Now we're stuck with only character creation guidelines. Good times. Good times. I'm... going to be working on rebuilding it. Again. I really, really hate #newPost. Just for the curious.

Sorry everyone, I've gotten way behind. Every time I sit down to try and catch up, I get busy, or something gets in the way. I will try harder to get caught up, soon. Please just use Eris as an NPC for now, and I'll get back into the action as quick as I can!

GM Tacticslion |

Lulu, please read my post, like, right at the top of this page. :)
:(
EDIT^ Frowny face is for why they're gone, not at anyone.
EDIT 2: Sorry I didn't respond before, but I totally understand, Eris. Regrettably, you started trying to play catch-up juuuuuuuuuuuust as I managed to ruin my own "here's the easy way to play catch-up" set-up in the Campaign tab.
EDIT 3: I know the links aren't all working. I'm sorry.

Lulu & all:
GM Tac lost most of what was on the Campaign Tab a little earlier today, including a lot of fancy formatting, due to annoying technical/internet stuff. He's really frustrated about it and rebuilding it now.
Please be patient as he rebuilds it. He'll let you know when it's all done again. It might not be all done again today. Until he posts that it's all done again, please assume that it's a work in progress, and he knows there are sections obviously missing stuff.
For now, please continue to post in-game actions and discussion.
Thanks! :)

SUPER QUICK SUMMARY FOR ANYONE CATCHING UP:
We were trained and assigned to go explore Hightower and smash gobs if we find them.
We hurried through a crazy magic storm, entered the tower, and explored creepy stuff.
We just took down a bunch of strange gobs with the help of two big weird dream spiders who dragged some of them down a side passage.
There is one big crazy enemy gob still (barely) alive and standing, surrounded by Beylinda, Sunny and Stone, who needs to be finished off.
After that, our options are:
#1 Go back and explore up the winding staircase in the drain room that looks like it leads up/out to the roof/storm.
#2 Explore down the web-covered side passage where the two giant spiders dragged the gobs they captured.
#3 Continue forward through the big doors the gobs were pounding on to face whatever gobs, knight, and/or crazy lady trying to take over the worlds may lie ahead before time runs out and she succeeds.
Layla votes for option #3. :)

Lulu Yordle |

I wasn't complaining I just wanted to be sure it was accidental. sometimes in other games when the DM removes a map link from combat, it sometimes is an indication that combat is over, I just wanted to be sure.
not a problem. over all.
i can do more maps as we progress. I don't know if I can give GM controls to someone else.
I do know that you can register for free and create your own maps using the program. I made three or four practice ones to experiment with, (took about a week of playing to get the general idea).
it works great for a combat tactical type map, but that's about it.

Shaedo Silverpaws |

He did not. And it would deal 1d2 bludgeoning. Shaedo: going where no kitsune's gone before. :)
And may no one forget it! (^_^) Gobs beware the wall-flyin' fox!
****
About the stuff happening with forum dice and editing an' stuff. Thanks for keeping things as they were. It was a risky maneuver, so I knew I was taking a chance. The results were very fun to see and the aftermath fun to role play. Sorry to hear about the editing problems.
I haven't run a game PbP, but I've had more than one post that I thought was perfectly composed either eaten by the forum, or deleted accidently, then submitted while editting, with the realization that there is no undo buttor or save doc option for the forums! >_>

Dijiron |

I see now about the unarmed thing. I admit didn't read the fancy training thing we got as closely as I probably should have. This is mostly because I figured, as a wizard, I wouldn't be using it. I'm sorry.
And that sucks about losing all that in the campaign info tab.
I'm low on spells so I too vote for pressing onward.

GM Tacticslion |

Not a problem, Dijiron. Several things are probably more useful than you're giving them credit for, however. If you get touch spells other than Frosty, for example... also, there's a few save-boosters and other things that you'll want to be aware of. For example, I shouldn't have been successfully flanking Beylinda... the goblins could try, of course, but it doesn't work well, due to Beylinda's (and everyone's) Uncanny Dodge.
EDIT: Also, I'm guessing you want Frosty to keep attacking!

GM Tacticslion |

I'm good with the actions that you declared for me.
Excellent. My apologies, though: I'll try to be more careful in the future. A combination of technology, life, and timing interfered this time (plus a Nat 1 on my perception check), but if a player actually states their actions, that is something I'd rather respect. Otherwise, you're just here for the "privilege"* of watching me play thus game with a character you created. Ooh: thrilling*. Thanks for rolling with it, too. Still waiting a short time more for Eris to potentially catch up (after yesterday was consumed with re-making the Campaign tab, grrr...) but I'll probably update tonight.
* Nope.

GM Tacticslion |

Okay, so I have been made aware that people might have misunderstood some things.
In this (<-CLICK ME!) post, I had a number of Perception spoiler boxes. In this post (the post immediately below that), Shaedo can get all of them. And in this post (the post immediately below Shaedo's), I say,
now that Shaedo has shared what she's heard, you can all click on the "Those Who Speak Goblin, DC <X>" and "Perception DC 20" spoiler tags to receive that information
... so I'd presumed people had. One important thing to note, though, was that in the latter (the Perception DC 20), I'd noted,
A strange croaking, raspy voice echoes through the corridor in ancient Taldan
... which could lead to some confusion over whether or not people could understand that. Taldan as some of you may already know and some may not, is the in-world word for Common - it's a language you all have. The wording was not meant to indicate that it was a form of Taldan that you couldn't understand: it was meant to be a two-fold descriptor, both of the voice you heard, and the style of speech. It's "ancient" in the way Shakespearean English or the King James Version of the Bible is "ancient" - it's easily comprehensible, it just has some minor words and styles of phrase that are no longer in use today.
Hence, I'd like you all to feel free to click those tags and read everything there. It was not meant to remain secret or hidden information.

But I dun't know who King James Shakespeare is? (>_>)
:P

Ceru |

Warning: English Master's degree bearer pedantry follows.
If it's comparable to the Elizabethan/Jacobean era, it would be "Early Modern" Taldan.
Compare: "Old English" (we don't even get an "ancient") is the language Beowulf was written in, and cannot be understood by a modern day speaker, although a few words may be recognizable.

GM Tacticslion |

Yes, I'm definitely aware: hence my clarification. It's what I get for being descriptive rather than technically accurate. Sigh. :)
(For the record, though, Taldan-as-common has existed for far, far longer than English... or even the ancient language of the Picts and Angles it was first based upon, much less the French-infused mixed-with-Latin/Greek (via scholars) language that some haughty duchess thought sounded better, hence ensuring one of the most complex and highly rules-exception languages on Earth - Chinese beats us for sheer bloated girth due to writing rules being based off of pictographic rather than alphabet-based linguistics, but English has become one terrible mistress for most to learn... and the "common" language of more countries (though, fascinatingly enough, not more people) than any other. Humans are weird and really poorly organized. I like us! :D)

GM Tacticslion |

I have updated the Campaign Tab: now all of the unique magical items you've come across in the game tab are listed and clarified there. I did not note the Infusions of polypurpose panacea as the rules function identical to potions of the same kind.
There are still 18 of them, and they are effectively unclaimed (though I think Eris was the last one to hold them? I may be wrong). I do believe that is everything you've run across at present, though again, I could be wrong.
Please note any necessary corrections. I will attempt to fix them.
EDIT: I have been asked if the stairs were large enough for the donkeys to ascend. Yes, they are, as the stairs (unlike most of the Tor) are sized for medium creatures (which is what the donkeys are) however, they are not large enough for the donkeys to turn around on, and the creatures would have to ascend one at a time.

GM Tacticslion |

Clarification on the Spider Web hall: the ceiling and walls are coated in the poison web.
By staying in the center of the five-foot wide (but ten foot tall) corridor, small sized creatures can move easily (take 10 DEX) and medium creatures can crouch and move at half speed (take 10 DEX). The DCs are 9 in both cases, though a medium creature moving at normal speed must roll, and suffers a -2 to their check. This situation is a recent development: it came about due to the dragging of the goblins by the spiders. Previously, it would have been impossible to pass down this corridor without contacting the poison webbing.
I will likely not update tomorrow, but hopefully will the day after that. (Possibly even he morning, EST.)

Lulu Yordle |

guys..
I may have to go on hiatus from this game.
I am scaling back for a bit due to some RL issues.
This game requires way to much time to really be able to follow, there are so many things and I don't really see Lulu's usefulness.
I don't think lulu's input will really be missed. but I will try and read up on whats happening every so often. but right now it is way too much to keep up with.

Very much cheers and best wishes to all.

Tacticslion |

What those two said. Regardless of what you might think, we will miss you, and hope your real life gets sorted: I thoroughly understand, though. Life is more important than gaming! God bless you, and I hope things settle quickly.

Ceru |

Sorry to hear that Lulu, it's always hard to make that call. Really hope RL starts treating you better.

GM Tacticslion |

My apologies that I haven't updated. I've been distracted and ran out of time. I am working on the update now.
EDIT: New Roll20 board up. See the Campaign tab. Ooze and Stone are not currently here, having been guarding. Those who find themselves in white spaces not on the map are simply in a long hall - too long to appear on the Roll20 map. I've also created this board but find that I am unable to add game pieces. I've enabled the players to do so... but feel oddly that I cannot. My apologies.

"Sunny" |

Size etc doesn't look too bad. :)

GM Tacticslion |

THE REWARD FROM THIS POST IN THE GAMEPLAY THREAD
.
Be warned: this reward is a bit metagamey. But it's nice. :D
.
In the other thread: you currently have, effectively, a 3,600 gold-value "credit" each that must be divided between three items, though it may be divided in any way you'd like. You may "purchase" any three wondrous items, rings, wands, armor, weapons, adventuring equipment, or treasure in this way. I recommend splitting it somewhat - two 1 silver items and 3k item is a little silly. Magical items are permitted, but so are mundane items. You may post a custom item, but increase the price by 10% for that item. Most things that are remotely edible - whether wood or leather, or similar - have been consumed over the ages. There are still a few things that may be available, however.
By trading up to 1k of item value, you may "purchase" a blessing, or a piece of exotic lore or knowledge. The dead spider-husk is... very well trained in arcane ways.
It is effectively a 500 gold-value each to 'purchase' to acquire its aid in some way. I will permit a couple of days for voting on this (as it requires a sacrifice from each of you), or, if the slim majority or majority of active posters have made their voices known, then I will follow through and presume the group followed that track.
Also, out of character, if you have any plans for doing something major or slightly time-consuming in the front of the tower, I recommend doing them now... "just in case". Ahem. You will be able to open those double doors - well, presuming you survive - so don't worry about the ability to come back... but let's just say that you may not necessarily have time. If you desire to have a little now, the nice big absolutely terrifying dead-spider-thing has - obliquely - noted that it will assist you in some way, to permit a bit more time. An hour or four, at most. But once you head down this tunnel... it's probably going to be a bit crazy.
EDIT: What you may not purchase - not instantly anyway - is an upgrade to your current equipment. It's new or it's nothing. That said, if you'd be willing to purchase it's services and wait a while, it'd certainly give you, say, a 25% discount toward the purchase of upgraded equipment at a later date.

Layla the Twin-Blade |

So...
if we all vote to ask for his aid ... (which I think sounds like a good idea, so I vote yes!) ... then we can each get pretty much any two magic or mundane items we want worth up to 3,100k total per person ...
Or choose to get either a mysterious blessing or a game hint aka gift of knowledge, and still get one item worth up to 2,100k.
Is that correct, GM?

GM Tacticslion |

That is basically correct.
Updated campaign tab to accurately reflect the current status of things.
EDIT: including updating weapon stats that were posted incorrectly in the thread, but have been corrected on the campaign tab. The fortitude save from the weapon is once per year, instead of once per week.
EDIT: Important clarification: Lulu, Pix, Ooze, and Stone are not currently with you, nor are the donkeys. There is no way for the donkeys to head down the spider passage without excessive exposure to webbing... though perhaps they're immune (who knows?). Given this creature's general feelings on goblins... hm...
But, then again, you know, perhaps the super-sized dead spider-husk filled with tiny poison things is an entirely reasonable entity? It's shown no signs of prejudice or presumption yet, right? Eh? Hm?
Regardless, you'll likely need someone to guard the stuff, and as we've not heard from Stone or Ooze in a while, and Lulu's player has retired from this game due to life-events, they can (probably) safely be left with the mounts for now.
EDIT: I may PM Eris, Ooze, and Stone at some point tomorrow, for their convenience and ours. If anyone else would rather (and give them a summary, so they don't have to read through the pages), I'd be most... grateful. Ahem.
EDIT: Oh, and Layla and Shaedo? Heh. Heheheh. Nice combined Charisma check. Heehee. That... helped you more than you know. Muwahahahah.

"Sunny" |

(>_<) Don't like SPIDEYS!
Though.. they does sound all reasonable, like... (>_>)
So... I'm just finished a work shift... And will be having a 'Night shift' tomorrow and the following day.
Shall think about what sort of item Suny might seek to ask for... really politely from the nightmare spideys. :P

Shaedo Silverpaws |

*Closing eyes tight.* Just pretend they're crickets... just pretend they're crickets!
So are the blessings a wildcard, a spell the spidey-lich casts for us? Or can we get the spideys to enchant stuff for us? ^_^
I agree about the aid- would rather have these creepy creatures after the gobs than after us- so Shaedo'll offer up 500 of her credit for getting the big spidey lich thing on our side!
Alright, I'll post in gameplay in a moment. Later today I have a RL game 2 - 8, but I'll keep checking in prior to that time, and afterwards. I like how this story is developing! ^_^
EDIT: And I am on PST, so I believe my time over here is 3 hours(?) earlier than the time over there (EST, if I'm not mistaken). I'd guess, about 1 pm to my 11 am? ^_^

Ceru |

It is effectively a 500 gold-value each to 'purchase' to acquire its aid in some way. I will permit a couple of days for voting on this (as it requires a sacrifice from each of you), or, if the slim majority or majority of active posters have made their voices known, then I will follow through and presume the group followed that track.
This phrase confuses me -- I am not sure how 500 gp each comes up to 3600 gp. Wouldn't that be 3500?
I may be misapprehending.
Ceru would be willing to sacrifice her portion for information about the tower.
I'd suggest generally we get 1,000 gp worth of information and then two items that would be useful to the whole party.

Layla the Twin-Blade |

Ceru,
Each active player gets a 3600gp credit 'reward' that can be divided into three items each, or two items and a piece of useful info each, or .... if a majority of us active players agree ... We can ALL sacrifice one of our items/500gp worth of our credit to gain the spider lich's active assistance for ALL of us in fighting our enemies.
So, if we agree/vote to ask for it's help, then each active player still gets to choose two items worth a total of 3100gp OR one item worth up to 2100gp and a game hint or mysterious blessing.
I've checked to make sure this is indeed what the GM meant.
Does that clarify things?

GM Tacticslion |

Dijiron: understandable. People have lives. When you can.
Ceru: That's 3,600 gold-worth... each, as Layla said.
Thus, if each of you sacrifice 500 gold-worth of credit, you will each have 3,100 gold remaining. Below is a tentative sample of how this has worked out so far - you may change your request before finalization. I hope it helps clear things up.
Party Member: items requested [credit value item] (credit spent out of 3,600 g credit)
* "Sunny": undecided (0 of 3,600 spent)
* Beylinda: undecided (0 of 3,600 spent)
* Eris: undecided (0 of 3,600 spent)
* Layla: assistance [500], undecided (500 of 3,600)
* Vitreous: undecided (0 of 3,600)
* Shaedo: assistance [500], undecided (500 of 3,600)
* Ceru: "two party assistance items" [??], assistance [500], information [1,000] (1,500+?? of 3,600)
* Dijiron: undecided (0 of 3,600)
Party Treasure-Value Spent: 2,500 of 28,800 total (split among 24 different options).
Note: only if the entire party expends 500 gold (or if someone specifically wants to fork over more than 500 gold to permit someone else to get more value for their two items for some reason) does the party gain the spider's assistance.
Semi-ninja'd by the ranger. Layla, once again, are you sure you're a ranger?

Ceru |

I gotta say, Tac, this game, generally speaking, is a lot of fun, but you sure know how to make treasure and money spending confusingly complicated.
So: we EACH get 3,600 gp to spend on THREE things.
If we all agree to put 500 gp of that into a communal pot, we will recruit the spider to fight for us at some point. (Which I am fine with.)
So then we, individually, actually have 3,100 gp to spend.
And what if Ceru just said to the spider: I want information, and two magic items, you pick, could she do that?
Not saying that is what I am opting to do, I'm just wondering. (It might, however, make it more fun for me, depending.)
If we're each getting the 31/600 prize, she probably wouldn't necessarily get "party assistance" items (no offense to the party)... I just thought if it was we only get 2-3 items for the whole party then it should probably be something we could all use but if everybody's getting their own pick of things then frankly I'd probably look at something she can use (or at least have fun with).

GM Tacticslion |

Yes. You can do that (it's three things each, but it would be 'information' and 'assistance' and 'one magic item' or something of that nature). I'm glad it's fun, though: it's meant to be. :D
... and Layla, once again, can totally be an, 'I told you so.' She warned me, after I first posted it and she read it for the first time, that this was complicated. Alas, my bane. It... it just makes sense to me!
EDIT: a list of some example options:
- two items, and information (total: three things)
- one item, information, and assistance (total: three things)
- two pieces of information, and assistance (total: three things)
- two items, and assistance (total: three things)

Is there a 'top' above which we in't ta' spend? Or has I already miss that part?

Sunny & all, GM says, divide the 3,100 between two items.
When I tried to pin him down to a max limit for one one the items, such as, could one of them be worth 3k, he said, " Yeah. 3k could be a good limit for any one item. But it's a soft limit. I don't want to pin anybody down if they have a really good idea."

Please note, if anyone wants me to choose for them, I most certainly can. This was meant to be something nice and fun, instead of an "ARG! What'll I choose?!" thing. Also, you can always defer your payment until later...
Reminder: there are still some claimed and unclaimed items currently in the possession of the party are on the Campaign tab. Unclaimed magic: nasty hide armor, and wrist sheathe. Layla the Twin-Blade |

I'm still considering as well.
Layla already has a ring of sustenance, but that's a nice 2k option for others who may be considering.
A cloak of resistance +1 is a generic yet nice 1k option I'm considering...

Shaedo Silverpaws |

The party is going to be doing some sneakin', and Shaedo is eager to get her hands on some more sneakiness stuff. ~_^
So I'm thinking she'll get a cloak of elven kind for her big purchase.
The only problem is that I have no idea what to get for 600 gp credit.

Layla the Twin-Blade |

Shaedo, you have Use Magic Device, right?
You could get a wand of any 1st level spell with 40 charges for 600 gp.
That could be neat. :)
The handy haversack is also a nifty option for 2k.
We do have donkeys now, but that may not always be the case.
Layla is thinking of asking for a Haversack and a piece of helpful information.

Beylinda Chumana |

hum lets see A Mithril Chain Shirt +1 (2100 gp)
A cloak of Resistance +1 1000 gp
Recruit the spider to Fight (500 go)
2*Potion of of shield 100gp (is buying the same thing in consumable can count for 1 item slot)
if not then i will donate the 50 gp to someone
