Shared Lore spell and special Lore skills like Esoteric Lore and Bardic Lore

Rules Discussion

I was building an occult caster (necromancer but this is unrelated to the question) and searching for some 1st rank spell to use when I notice that Shared Lore spell that you can use it to share one of your lore skills with other creatures but nothing in the texts restricts to what lore skills you can share.

So if I'm not forgeting something this means that you are able to use it to share special lore skill like Bardic Lore and Esoteric Lore (if you have one of them of-course) to other party members to become temp trained on them and uses its abilities to RK about anything (with a shared Bardic Lore) or about haunts, curses and all creatures using their charisma (with a shared Esoteric Lore)?

I know that it will be restricted to trained but allow all party members to able to RK about anything or about all creatures using cha would be very useful specially during exploration.

I wouldn't allow it. I make a distinction between standard Lore skills that can be gained and increased through normal skill boosts, and the special lore skills that you only get from class features. When a spell or other ability references a "Lore", they are talking about the standard Lore skills - not the special ones.

Imagine getting Bardic Lore from Access Lore. You would have a better proficiency at it than Bards.

Imagine the Lore mystery being good at lore. Can't let oracles have nice things 9_9

Shared Lore requires you to have the Lore in question to share it, only gives them trained proficiency, and doesn't give them benefits like Diverse Lore.

I don't see any reason why this wouldn't work, and considering that these special lores can only be used for Recall Knowledge, I don't see the problem. This is a cool thing those players can do to give other players the ability to think about something when those players would otherwise not get to be in that part of the scene.

Lore's only really distinguish from each other in the sense that there's ones you're allowed to pick via skill boost/additional lore/etc and the ones you can't. Once you have them, stuff that applies to 'Lore skills' should work on them.

IMO this spell is more powerful with specific lores and cases like Research or Influence encounters: if someone has Additional Lore in one that's relevant to the scene, giving that to everyone for 8 hours is an enormous boost to the party's ability to do this since those come with lower DCs. You need the right lore to do that, but when it works it REALLY works. (Most applicable in SoT where Academia Lore comes up a lot.)

This one I wouldn't allow because while Shared Lore is "a lore skill in which you're trained", this one requires you to "Choose as Lore skill" and those special ones are not options you can "choose" per the Lore skill. You need special feat access to get them.

Course, if you're using Access Lore you're often doing so in relation to a specific target/problem you want to know about, so picking the a very-specific Lore related to that is going to give you a better DC than Bardic/Esoteric would since they're not as specific as "Kazavon Lore".

So I don't think this limitation actually matters much in practice.
