No worries. I wasn't terribly clear in my post of it.

Hi everyone. I had a strange situation where I was locked out of my account, but I'm back!

Today is the last day for applications. I'll be going through them tonight, and posting the results sometime on Saturday. Thank you everyone for your time and effort, and I wish you good luck!

Yeah, the login outage set me back a bit, but I'll have a submission in a bit later today...

Good luck, everyone.

Sure thing, Spazmodeus. I'd say as long as it comes in by 11pm pst, it'll be fine.

Here you go.
First rough pass. Updated her background to detail her comings and goings after leaving Sandpoint way back when :)

Still need to finalize gear and spells....

As for her role, her main goal will to be making life hell for the opposition with her hexes and spells....She's an expert on many subjects , especially ancient Thassilon!

Was worried I would miss turning this in before shabbat.

Still needs items

Taking wandering pilgrim

Bouldershoulder has heard the call of He who walks in blood ever since the day he found that dead masked man so many years ago. He called to join the monastery and learn their ways, he called to Kaer Maga and the door to join the brothers there, he called to join the scions in their fight with the traditionalists, and now he calls to turtleback. Bouldershoulder has never complained, following where his calling leads, he will work with the party to do what his lord wishes, it isn't like there is a contract for them anyhow.

Rough background, but hope it is different enough to catch the eye.

Here is an update to my earlier submission.

Background:

It's mostly the same, but I introduced a new element: a shadowy and powerful relative who Kaddok worked for. This is how he became a real adventurer, and how he ended up at Turtleback Ferry. It's not super fleshed out everywhere, there are definitely more places where I am interested in describing characters, particularly those with whom Kaddok has a positive relationship. But time is limited and this is what I've got.
...
Eventually, his mother died of illness. Before she died, however, she arranged for him to receive a Shoanti tattoo. Though they were exiles, they would be proud, and he would never forget who he was.

After she died, one of Kaddok’s great uncles, an important noble and diplomat from farther south in Cheliax, decided to put the young man to the test. He had business that needed to be taken care of below the radar, and a clandestine interest in certain ruins north of the Storval rise, though he never revealed his ultimate goals to Kaddok.

Kaddok at first thought these missions would sate his desire for adventure, and agreed to follow his relative’s instructions. He quickly decided they would not: he needed to travel north. He came to view them as a way to gain experience for his eventual departure, though his great uncle had no plans for his young protege to leave. In the final stages, Kaddok sought to safely distance himself from his great uncle’s operations, which proved quite difficult.

At first, Kaddok was put to work in the city of Korvosa. However, his great uncle soon realized that he had few social skills and did not posses the discretion or tact for such things. What’s more, Kaddok’s unusual ethnic identity made him easily recognizable, and thus easier to connect to his great uncle. After this, he joined up with his cousin and a couple of mercenaries to delve into a couple of sites of interest along the Fenwall mountains. Kaddok was much better at this, but he didn’t like the rascally, scoundrelish, and deceitful way his cousin behaved towards the people they met along the way. He learned the value of intensive preparation, and soon purchased his handy haversack. It was around this time that he came to see these missions as merely a way to gain experience for other adventures later in life.

After these missions were completed, he was sent all the way to Kaer Maga. His cousin would have been much better suited to the job, but she had gone missing for several weeks at that time. He was tasked with leaning on one of the inhabitants of the outlaw city until she provided information that Kaddok’s great uncle had already paid for. He was also supposed to make contact with an ally, which he did successfully.
However, the way that he went about getting the information that had been paid for resulted in that information being divulged to everyone within earshot. Within a day, it was no longer secret, a big mistake, though several adventurers raised their glasses in his name after they learned this secret. As a result of things he saw during the journey and in the city, as well as what he learned about his great uncle’s goals, Kaddok decided that he didn’t want to serve the old man anymore. But he was far from safe, in the midst of a lawless city with a group of ruffians who worked for his great uncle, so he waited.

On the way back, he slipped his companions and fled north and west. They eventually caught up with him, and there was a brief confrontation before he slipped away. He had been forced into the Ashwood forest, however, a dangerous place. Because of the nature of what he had learned about his great uncle, he was afraid they might still be after him, so he resolved to cross the forest alone. He did so successfully, ending up in Turtleback Ferry bedraggled, muddy, and half a ghost himself. But this was his opportunity! Now he could do what he always wanted to do: go north on an adventure, and hopefully with some good folk as companions.

Crunch changes:

I moved the headband skill to Knowledge: Planes, then shifted some skill ranks from UMD to some other knowledges the party is lacking. I think as is Kaddok is much closer to the scholar end of things. Were he selected for that role, the ruins delver trait would shift to give him a bonus to some knowledge skills and let him speak Thassilonian instead of having to rely on Comprehend Languages. But he does have disable device and perception as class skills, a good dex score, and lots of skill points to spare. And his background makes the Ruins Delver trait make sense one way or the other, so while I see him leaning towards the scholar role, he could definitely fill either one. Again, after selection I will make sure that he can't do both things so that everyone has a chance to shine.

Good luck everyone.

Got the magic item purchases planned. Still need to do the more mundane things, like Thieves' Tools, actually, but I wanted to get this update in before you do your choices.

Haven't incorporated them in all the numbers, yet. Will do that before I start mundane item purchasing. The impacts are broader.

I fell asleep before 11pm pst, but just to make it official: The recruitment thread is closed! I will release the results later today. Thank you everyone for your time and hard work. Good luck to you

Now the true wait begins.

Good luck to everyone!

I hope whomever is selected has fun!

And purchases are complete and applied across the sheet. A little late, I know.

Alright everyone. After pretty much a whole day, I've come up with the results. I want to point out that it really was a hard decision. More than half of you were on my top tier list. It wasn't just about who had the best character, but it came down to who I could really see in the party. The hardest part was trying to put two of you together, which I think was a lesson for me in future recruitments.

I want to thank you all for making level 8 characters in only a week (or less) notice. That's a lot of work, and I'm sure you took valuable time to do it. Thank you all, regardless of whether you got in or not, for taking this time. At the very least, it was a pleasure to read.

Okay that's enough yammering. The results are in.
I would like to welcome...
Kemras Iuvescanu, by Sensen, to the party!
And...
Acoris, by Taimat, to the party!

I will be sending private messages to each of you. If you already know where the discussion thread is, feel free to introduce yourselves.

Thank you everyone else. I wish you happy gaming in your current or future endeavors. Goodnight to you all!

I hope you all enjoy the game!

Ah well....it was worth a try.
Have fun!!

Thanks for choosing me, TreasureFox.

Congratulations to those chosen.
