*looks at Steve Geddes' massive subscriptions list* ... You could go on a nice cruise for six months' worth of your subscriptions! *grin* Have fun!

The Mad Comrade |

What would I read?
Draw inspiration from your destinations.
Take copious pictures of cool exotic locales to use (and photoshop if you are able) as backdrop for your kaiju while massacring your players' characters with when you return.Touch stingrays, which is a very neat tactile experience.
Eat awesome food (part of the cruise price, all the chow you can eat).
Stick your feet into exotic sands and relax with a tasty beverage.
Take in the different olfactory sensations.
:)

I do not remotely expect such a break.
More importantly, I would not hold it against Paizo one iota if they did. 10 years at a constant grind of generally ever-increasing product lines just wears one down.
Frankly, if it would give 'em some long overdue time to focus on wrapping up PF1e, getting everything all nice and pretty for PF2e and most important of all reduce work-derived stress for a precious few months before launch ... more power to 'em!

The Mad Comrade |

Maybe a 3 or 4 part high level only capstone AP? Even a 1 or 2 month break might be appreciated and help ensure a better launch.
That would be pretty cool.
Perhaps let the developers, writers, artists and cartographers have some fun designing an AP either in and out-of-the-way location or just fully go down the rabbit hole in an AP for high-level/capstone play using whatever bizarre maps they have lying around. Like a pot-luck AP or something.
Minimize the monster stat blocks by using bestiary standard critters in droves. There are a goodly number of high-CR ones nowadays ...
Could even go with setting-neutral via said rabbit hole, with sidebars or what have you providing possible connections to Golarion.
Go really nuts and have the player characters' stash o' demiplanes start trying to eat them, slurping them down the rabbit hole with all of their mountains of swag. Can you recover all of your murderhobo-gotten gains before the Gawd of Rust Monsters' mini-onions deliver it? (Introductory Chapter, then it gets interesting.)

I wish it would be an AP about an exploration team to Arcadia....but I'm sure that's too much to hope for :P
I'm thinking/hoping we'll be doing a series of Strange New Lands to meet Exciting and Interesting People (before getting mowed down by them in a hail of machine gun fire) will be a thing for the first couple of years of the new edition.

Maybe....but I'm not moving to the new edition, so won't do me much good.
I suppose if they come out with Arcadia info...I could buy it and convert to 1E.

Well, in light of that ... if they do not take a break prior to 2e, then by all means an Arcadia AP would be super-sweet.
Taken to Fury Road degrees of awesome with daemons rampaging about. ;)

I hope it's something in Garund. Nex/Geb are begging for an AP and yet, since their conception, have received very little attention. Another cool option would be to reveal the rest of Garund's landmass, as was done with Tian-Xia.
A Razmiran AP would be quite welcome as well. Ole' man Razmir has 3 options at this point: die of old age, die because adventurers stabbed him, or discover immortality like a decent wizard.
I do hope it's not Galt, but Galt is another possibility. Only reason I'd say it's unlikely is because we have a very politics-heavy AP with War For the Crown, and unless the Galt AP (ugh) takes a much different approach, I just don't see it happening.

I was thinking about what would be a cool AP to end PF 1 on last Friday while at work.
Basically, Choral the Conqueror (from the Beyond Kingmaker article) comes back finally after being away so long. During his long hiatus, he has managed to assemble the largest Dragonflight ever recorded on Golarion. Hundreds or thousands of Dragons of various colors and types, with the sole purpose of conquering all of Golarion or the devastation of it (a cataclysmic RSE if developers want to remake the world or even just parts of it).
Some folks wanted a Dragon BBEG, this AP could have us go out with a bang.
Apologies if some of this was already mentioned in this thread, I have not really read any of the other posts here. IIRC, the last AP was going to be a Runelords sequel. Did this change?

A Dragon AP would be cool (or hot, or electrifying . . .), but the developers have already said that they don't intend to do any major remake to Golarion, with the most major update being that future APs will recognize some of the changes and/or rescues perpetuated by PCs in APs released to date (that is assuming no major failures by the PCs).

The Return of Nex. You're just some poor schmuck who came to Alkenstar for whatever reason, and now Nex came back and Geb's getting ready to start duking it out with him again, so now you have to find a way to stop it before they blow up a large section of the continent, and the only way to do so is to kill Nex and present Geb with proof so Geb can finally permanently die - then you have to escape from Geb before the undead get their hands on you to either enslave you or eat you.
And maybe find a way to fix the Mana Wastes while you're at it.
Tying the Playtest Adventures in with the AP and focusing on the Doomsday Clocks and the Dominion of the Black would be cool too, though.

Razmir is Jason Bulmahn’s pet nation, as I understand things. That probably doesn’t mean he has to be involved, but I’d be surprised if it were the last PF1 AP (it’s presumably being written now and something tells me he’s been kind of busy, of late).
This always bugs me. I know developers have their own pet nations they helped design (Eric Mona with Nex/Geb, Wesley Schneider with Ustalav, Jason Bulmahn with Razmir), but what's the point of having these nations if they're never developed? Luckily Mr. Schneider did an amazing job fleshing out his vision of Ustalav, but as of now, Nex, Geb, and Razmir are blank canvases. They might as well appear on maps with a big old censor bar over them that says "coming soon!" Paizo has plenty of highly capable writers who can easily bring these nations to life. It's been a decade. Time to hand the torch off.

First, it's been a decade and people still misspell Erik's name.
Second, Paizo's policy is let the nations who have their "custodians" wait until the custodian has time to do them right. They stick to it, so all you can do is wait.

First, I don't commit the spelling of every Paizo employee's name to my long-term memory.
Second, and more to the point, policies can and do change. All the time. This one has been rotting on the vine far too long. Time to get rid of it.

If somebody didn't care to spell my name right, I wouldn't feel that much inclined to honour their requests to abandon my long-standing policies and grant their wishes. But that's just me.

I'm confident that the Paizo employees are above such innocuous pedantry when it comes to designing flagship products like Adventure Paths. Or anything else really. To error is human.
Pointless bickering aside, there are a number of nations that haven't been touched on: Molthune, Isger, Druma, Lastwall, Realm of the Mammoth Lords, Nidal, Brevoy, aforementioned Razmir, Hermea, Mediogalit Island, and Thuvia. Any and all of these nations are begging to be fleshed out. And that's not even counting the Darklands, other planets, and other planes. Quite looking forward to the final 1.0 AP going out with a bang.

Paizo are sympathetic to this position. Several people "reserved" various Inner Sea nations and that has resulted in some much-loved campaign setting books. The downside to that approach though is that some areas have been left to languish. They appreciate that there comes a time when it really needs to happen, even if the original "champion" of a region has moved on or got bogged down in other things.
Erik Mona made a post about that recently (complete with educational acronym).

That's an awesome post, thanks. Good to see that the developers have the common sense to do away with a tradition that really is just stagnating the setting. Seriously, what has happened in Nex in the past decade?

Speaking of innocuous pedantry...it's "to err is human".
"error" is a noun, whereas you want the corresponding verb, which means "to make a mistake". As in "to make a mistake is human". That verb, which corresponds to the noun "error", is "to err".
Thank you, you may leave any tips to the animal protection charity of your choice.

I'm so happy to be in the company of such grammatical luminaries. Truly, I am humbled by your supreme and masterful understanding of the English language. But why are you wasting your time on a message board? Go! Go to the people and correct them, for certainly that must be your calling!
(Was that grammatically correct? Please, I must know. If not, I humbly beg you to correct me with your vast and immaculate linguistic skills)

Theres multiple ways a galt campaign coud go tho i agree it would probly politics based, personly im hoping for a Razmir one becase Razmirs great
I'm torn. I'd love to see a Razmiran AP, but I also really don't want him taken down by the PCs, which would be the logical direction to go. He's just too flavorful and interesting to remove. It might be another possibility for an evil campaign, but I'm not really interested in that personally. Perhaps there is a greater threat being contained by Razmir, so the PCs have to reluctantly help him. But this could be unsatisfying in being made to help the big bad instead of take him down. Or maybe it can be a more limited thing such as fighting off an invasion from Razmiran or taking back the lost territory for Ustalav. Maybe an espionage themed AP which involves going undercover with the cult.

Nidal just got a setting book, so that could be a good candidate. What the plot would be, I'm not sure.
Hermea really needs a shakeup. It's a cool bit of background, but being a closed society does mean it has little impact on the setting. And exploring the world of a possibly mad Gold Dragon playing god could be fascinating.
Druma is, sorry to say, so dull that it needs something, anything to happen. They've got a money cult, that's kind of interesting. But something needs to actually happen there.
Thuvia seems like kind of a one trick pony. They make the sun orchid elixir, and that's about it. Getting into shenanigans relating to it's production or sale could make for a good AP though. Maybe the alchemist has gone missing and everyone scrambles to find him. Maybe have a heist adventure with the elixir as the prize.
Molthune is kind of already touched upon by Ironfang Invasion (at least in passing), but a followup dealing with the fallout of that AP could be fun. I'm playing in Iornfang Invasion currently, so I don't actually know the full details on Molthune's involvement and what the fallout is. But I'm sure there is some.
Isgar's main claim to fame seems to be wars with goblinoids, which really gets back into the ground covered by Iornfang Invasion.
Realm of the Mammoth Lords could be a lot of fun playing with mega-fauna. Who doesn't want to go rampaging around while riding a dinosaur?
Beyond Golarion, I've long wanted a planet hopping AP. We might get some of this with Doomsday Dawn because of the involvement of the Dominion of the Black. And maybe a planar campaign could be a nice change of pace.
And another campaign idea I've had kicking around in my head for a while is a Darklands AP. Where the PCs are mostly the Darklands races (Drow, Duergar, Derow, Caligni, Svirfneblin) instead of the common surface ones. My initial idea is based on them being outcasts of some sort banding together and trying to find their own way, possibly by escaping to the surface world. Could also involve a McGuffin hunt deep into the Vaults of Orv and dealing with the strangeness there as well as intrigues in Drow cities.

Thuvia also has the House of Oblivion and whatever other craziness Ahriman is up to. Lots of potential there. Also it was the home of the Tekritanin League, and I would love to learn more about them beyond just "Eventual vassal state to Ancient Osirion" and the "were good with terrible creatures of the sands" bit from the Lost Kingdoms book.

I just got done reading through Nidal, Land of Shadows and I'd love for an intrigue/clandestine style AP set there. I know we are in the midst of an intrigue-style AP with WftC. But Nidal seems like such a fun place to visit, not so much fun to live there. LOL!

I agree, the Reign of Winter AP had the PCs have to help Baba Yaga and there are also two APs where the PCs have to swallow playing nice with a tyranny(Council of Thieves/Hell's Rebels) so having to stomach some wanna be god sneering at them would be far too much for me.

Shattered Star, I believe, also has an extraplanar excursion, and while I like part of the adventure going off into another dimension, I'd mostly be okay with it in the Last 1st Edition AP if it was a means to explain What's Happening To The World in the edition change. If the focus is on Golarion, shifting it for too long into another dimension also risks shifting the focus off of what's at stake.
