Okay, I'm gonna throw this guy in there: Breach

Javell, I like your character in general, just have a question. Your specializing in a tower shield, yet two of your three weapons are two-handed which to the best of my knowledge you would not be able to use while carrying a tower shield. Is there something I'm missing? Or would you care to explain your concept please? Thanks.

************************************************************

Everybody, I will close this to any new applications as of Sunday night 7/16 or early Monday morning and then I will take some time next week to review the submissions and make some very tough choices!

I want to thank everyone for their interest. I have seen several GREAT submissions and if you don't get chosen, I'm sorry. I will base my decision on a variety of things, but mainly I'll be looking for people that seem to be committed to playing seriously (I don't care for silly characters that don't make sense!) and ones that my current party and I think will be a best match to our current group. So please no one take it personally!

Okay, I see where I went wrong. I had a different feat in herolabs but for some reason changed it to a different one on my character sheet.

I've got it correct now. It's the Shield Brace.

Not sure what I was thinking when I changed it but I've got it fixed.

Grand Lodge

I would be willing to take over the Oracle.

May I present Gansu Kaichuta, Aasimar oracle of life and Pai Zin Practitioner. Intended as a replacement for your Aasimar Oracle.

The background is really long... sorry... but I did a point form TL;DR version in the spoiler underneath.

Gansu is intended as a healer but does not have channel energy (but he will get it at 3rd level). As a Pai Zin Practitioner he gets an ability that works like a Paladin's Lay on Hands ability at 1st level instead.

Gansu is basically done except for miscellaneous gear - after buying combat gear I have about 18 gp to buy backpacks, rations, rope, etc. I'd rather wait to see if I get picked before I bother with any of that.

I have never played the Emerald Spire before (and it would help if I get a bit of a recap before starting). I started playing a Rappan Athuk game once but I'm pretty sure it's not the same thing.

I am in a bunch of different games, the longest having gone for several years, and I have never dropped out of any of them, though I have been in 8 different campaigns that died, usually from the GM disappearing.

GM: The Pai Zin practitioner archetype allegedly uses Profession (herbalist) for medicinal healing (at least according to the fluff) and gets bonuses for that skill. But aside from the ability to use profession (herbalist) to identify potions and make alchemical gear that contains organic components, profession (herbalist) doesn't seem to do much. Any chance we can invent some new uses for that skill? I am open to ideas.

Edit: 2nd hit die: 1d8 ⇒ 8 Woot!

GM: I just had an idea. If allowed, I would also like to make Gansu a dual-cursed oracle. The second curse would be Legalistic because Gansu is obsessed with fulfilling oaths. It fits with his character persona.

However, the combo is not normally legal since both dual-cursed and Pai Zin both eliminate the bonus class skills.

Also, as instructed I have two traits and one drawback. Normally a drawback is optional and is added to gain access to a third trait. If it is allowed I would take a second drawback so I could get a third trait. I would probably take Seeker since my perception is terrible.

If either or both of these ideas are disallowed, I won't have hurt feelings.

I don't know if there's a way to actually close this?

But this is officially considered closed now. I'll review the submissions and let you know ASAP, by next Sunday 7/23 at the latest.

Again, thanks to all for your interest.

The way you closed it is how it's done. You say, "Recruitment is closed" and that's that.

Sovereign Court

Thank you for the consideration, GM, and good luck, everyone!

Darn. I had a really hectic weekend, and didn't get the opportunity to really get things together. Oh well, I'll live! Good luck, and have fun, to all those who applied, and those who will be chosen!

For organizational purposes, here are all of the completed submissions:

Breach Shattershield - Dwarf Tower Shield Specialist Fighter
Holbar Groshnel - Dwarf Foehammer Fighter
Staal Vegter - Hobgoblin Steelbound Fighter
Dakkragg Kerrid - Half-Orc Untouchable Bloodrager
Eluvias the Grim - Elf Empiricist Investigator
Runa Fendinn - Aasimar Lunar Oracle
Gansu Kaichuta - Aasimar Pai Zin Oracle
Sama Kattan - Sylph Air Elementalist Wizard

Good luck everybody!

Sorry about that. Eluvias is a enlightened bloodrager (2). Those stat lines are from a different PbP that died...used the alias, recrunched/refluffed the character.

Damn missed the edit cutoff by 1 minute. Your alias profile has him as the investigator, your "completed character post" has him as Enlightened Bloodrager with Draconic Bloodline (2), only your rough draft post has him as a Slayer; so thank you for the clarification.

Hopefully I don't cause too much confusion over him with my list :/

Completely my fault. I should have updated the profile. Will do so now to stop any future confusion.

To be honest I only asked for character concepts, not completed submissions. I probably should have been more specific. What I'm going to do is if you said what class or role you want to play, I will still consider you. So errors/changes can still be made. Complete submissions can as well.

Redelia, some in my party have shown some serious interest in your character so if you could please give me a semi-completed character sheet at least please? You don't necessarily have to buy all your gear, just mainly armor & weapons & anything that affects game-play directly.

And GrinningJest3r, nice job of kissing up there with that list! ;) Too bad it is now incomplete! Hahaha!

Sovereign Court

The advantage to submitting a completed character is that if you're picked you're immediately ready to jump in! :D

Hey, it's not my fault you changed the rules on me hahaha. Damn the DM's prerogative!

Seriously though, I always appreciated when someone did that, even for campaigns I wasn't applying for. You never know when a concept is going to be put forward that you'll want to steal some day.

Oh! In that case, I should probably link the Medic Playtest, whose mechanics changed very little between that document and release.

I should clarify that I've yet to decide between melee or ranged support, but either way should be quite a helpful addition to any team!

The All-Seeing Eye. wrote:

Just to be clear about Gansu's proposed role:

Gansu is a life oracle and is intended to replace Alex. He is a healer and can fill that role nicely. At 2nd level, he is not quite as good a healer as Alex, but at 3rd level he will get channel energy and will actually be better than Alex since he has both Lay on Hands and Channel Energy, from two separate pools of uses. At 7th level his lay on hands also has the ability to do condition removal. His Fey Foundling feat also means he requires less healing for himself.

He is also built as a two-handed melee fighter. He has AC 17, and decent HP. He has +6 to hit with his normal attack and deals an average of 11.5 damage per hit, and he crits on an 18. At higher levels he will use combat buffs to boost this.

My main idea with that is that I don't like to see people build clerics and oracles designed to just sit back and cast spells. Clerics/Oracles have 3/4 BAB and the ability to use medium armor. There's no excuse for them not to be at least passable in combat.

Silver Crusade

Since we're supposted to build at level 2 and roll for HP, I'm rolling here.

HP, level 2: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Here is the rough draft of Redelia's character. The formatting is a mess, because it's just the export from pcgen; I will clean it up tonight or tomorrow. I also need to type up the background and look over the character one more time for anything silly I did. I also should include her paladin code in the profile, since she is using one published specifically for Sarenrae.

I will try to get her finished up in the next 24 hours.

In terms of major plans for the character, she will be taking the celestial spirit bond option rather than a mount. Her greatsword is her primary weapon.

(I should note that I am reusing an alias.)

Kessa wrote:

Hello Kessa/Redelia!

I just had a look at your character sheet.

Great Ability Score Rolls! My one suggestion would be that you might want your 16 in CON instead of WIS. This is because as a Paladin one of your main tactics will be to draw fire. So it is good to have lots of HP. WIS is often a dump stat for Paladins, and your will saves will be awesome already.

By the way, I forgot to mention this sooner, sorry, there is one level, about the 5th level I think? Where swimming WILL BE AN ISSUE so you may want to go ahead and put some ranks into that, but at the same time I know I hate to waste skill points for something that is only going to be used on that one level. Just a heads-up so that you can make your own choices there.

I find putting 1 rank each in Climb and Swim to be helpful in general, so I'm covered there.

Damn. I wouldn't get my elemental bloodline movement until CL8. I could have chosen Water and gotten swim for free haha.

Serious question though. I've never played Emerald Spire before, so would an elemental bloodline or the arcane bloodline be more suited for this? I can't decide if an elemental movement and some elemental bonuses/resistances are worth the anti-casterness that would come from an Arcane bloodline Untouchable Rager.

Stat 1: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10
Stat 2: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 = 11
Stat 3: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 6) + 6 = 14
Stat 4: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11
Stat 5: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6) + 6 = 18
Stat 6: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17

Stat Array Three
Stat 1: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
Stat 2: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + 6 = 13
Stat 3: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5) + 6 = 12
Stat 4: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 = 8
Stat 5: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 6 = 15
Stat 6: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 6 = 13

Eventually applying for the divine caster slot.

As Phantom said, I typically put a point in each of those skills as well. But I don't think I did this time. Thanks for the heads up.

Silver Crusade

My apologies for the above spam post. I did not read the entire thread.

The All-Seeing Eye. wrote:

I didn't put any points in swim for Gansu because it is not a class skill. Dropping a rank in only gives a +1 and his STR is 18 already. Maybe later.

Grand Lodge

What is our timeline for getting started? BG is ready to go knock some heads and earn some coin!

Last we've heard is that 7/23 is the "no later than" date for The All-Seeing Eye to make his selections. I check a couple of times per day, just in case.

Considering that you have already been invited to the game, it makes Breach, Holbar and Staal redundant. Also, it seems that Kessa also got a spot, so I'm not sure why we are waiting for the 23 at this point.

I am still hoping to get tapped to replace Alex, for one. :)

Okay, Sorry everybody. Yes, I have got 3 spots chosen already. Brother Guiness the Dwarf fighter, Redelia/Kessa the Aasimar Paladin, and Sama Kattan the Sylph Air Elementalist Wizard (She was the only wizard to apply, so she had an advantage there!)

So the only spot still being considered is for the healer position and we (The current party and I) have not yet decided if we want to replace our current DMPC healer or not. Again, that will be decided no later than Sunday 7/23, but probably earlier.

So all others have been covered. I'm sorry that so many did not make it! There were some GREAT choices submitted and it was a tough call for me! I do appreciate your efforts and interest and I hope you can use your submissions elsewhere.

RECRUITMENT IS CLOSED!!!

You have been chosen! If your still wanting in that is of course. Sorry I took longer than expected, if you saw my post in the discussion of my campaign, you know my car broke down Friday night and so RL issues got in my way.

Feel free to post in the game and/or discussion tab as appropriate.

To the rest of you who were still hanging on, I'm sorry you weren't chosen, but at least the wait is over.

All done here.
