Hello everyone,

Tabletop Giant is a new website which provides a way to make Pathfinder Society characters. It is available here: http://www.tabletopgiant.com.

The site is currently in test mode and we would enjoy it if some players would visit and try it out. I'm hoping to find about ten people that would be willing to try the site, and also willing to report on any issues they may encounter. The site is still in active development and there will be issues - but we're hoping, with the support of the community, we should be able to identify those issues and get something really neat working.

Here are a couple of points to introduce the site.

We have a number of character builds set as public, all those are available for all to review. These public characters are available in our Character Factory. Simply click on any of the profile images (or the handy 'View' button) to see the character sheet.

A particularly neat feature is cloning. For users that are registered, a 'Clone' button will be available on each character in the Character Factory. Hitting this button will make a copy of that Character Sheet in the user's own personal space, which can then be edited and changed into a brand new personality. This will allow players to use existing builds as 'templates', instead of just starting from scratch. We are also planning to allow users to add new characters to the Character Factory so that they may share them with others.

As the site is in test mode, new users will need an access code in order to register. If you are interested in trying the site out, please post below and I'll PM you a code, likely within the next 24 hours. Once I have ten people, we will see how it goes, and will send out more codes as things appear more and more stable. Once things are solid (or, close enough), we will open the site to everyone.

I really hope this site sparks some interest - happy to answer any questions about it.

Thanks!

I'm definitely interested.

Grand Lodge 3/5

Oooh, I wanna try this!

Scarab Sages 5/5 **

I would like to try as well. Looks cool.

Sovereign Court

Might we worth looking into as I haven't got Hero Lab yet.

Liberty's Edge 3/5 *

I would be interested in giving it a go as well.

This looks very interesting. I'd like to see more.

Silver Crusade 4/5

I'd like to give this a shot. It looks cool!

3/5 ***

Me too!

I'd like to give it a try. Looking over the examples my first thoughts are that it's a nice clean layout though it might be nice if animal companions and the like were split to their own page rather than stuck on the class page.

It appears like you may have disabled private messages, and I wasn't able to give you a code! If you like, enable messages, or just drop me an email address I can send a code to.

Codes sent to all in PMs! That does make about ten, however anyone interested please feel free to chime in and I will add more codes as things progress.

I want to point out one quick thing that has obvious importance - the site currently only creates level 1 characters - it doesn't level (yet). You have to start somewhere, and level 1 is the right spot :)

Also - I didn't mention the site also generates PDF files that you can save and print out. I made Finn and Jake from Adventure Time as a summoner and eidolon - this is the result.

Scarab Sages 5/5 5/5 **** Venture-Captain, Washington—Spokane

I would love to check it out.

Grand Lodge 3/5

Weird, it seems I can't register at the moment.

This looks really awesome and hopefully once it's grown enough can readily replace the 3.75 generator I use that sadly no longer updates. Will it only allow PFS legal character creation, or do you plan to make it possible to make any sort of characters you want? Perhaps a PFS on/off toggle?

This looks pretty neat and very cleanly done. I wouldn't mind having a go at it.

I am most interested

Grand Lodge 4/5

I would be interested in looking at it.

Woudl you allow or be interested in a campaign mode, where a group of people could create a set of PCs that they can all see, for use in a campaign?

Also, just as an FYI, and I am not sure how feasible it would be, but you might want to break CMB and/or CMD down a bit further. Kess, for instance, should show an entry for Grapple CMB which includes the +2 from the Improved Grapple feat.

I know I have PCs where I have to spend time figuring out his CMB and CMD for the maneuvers he has teh feats for...

I think that's a great idea actually. Same for Eidolons of course.

I'd love to see that happen in time. The scope was kept intentionally within PFS for the moment as it is just more manageable and defined. The next big obvious step (beyond getting everything to work) is players being able to level to 20. Beyond that, opening it up for Pathfinder wide would be awesome, but it would definitely be a big job.

Scarab Sages

Really Cool!

Silver Crusade 3/5

Also interested.

:)

Silver Crusade 4/5

I am interested.

Possible to get registration code? Have just started to be interested of PFS games and this could cut time to make few quick chars to check.

Dark Archive

Interested to the max! Also, lol at the Finn and Jake summoner.

Also interested. Could you send me a code?

If you're still looking for testers, I'd be happy to get a sneak peek!

Sovereign Court 4/5 5/5 ** Venture-Lieutenant, Netherlands—Leiden

Looks nice and clean. I'd like to try it out too.

The Exchange 2/5

Looks very intuitive. I'd be honored to get a test code, too, if they're still available.

Scarab Sages

I'd love to test this out. Always looking for ways to make character creation a quicker/easier process.

Liberty's Edge

Looks nice. I'll poke around a bit if you need the extra eyes.

Dark Archive

I'd dig checking this out too!

Grand Lodge 2/5

I'd be willing to try it out. It looks like you've already got your ten so let me know when you need more

The Exchange 3/5

This is pretty interesting, I'd also be interested in participating, let me know as well if you need additional users.

Can I get a code for this please. thanks.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I can happily say that the first batch of players did not cause the site to explode in a grand and sensational manner, so it was decided to bring in more. Everyone above this post who expressed interest should have a code in their PM box :)

We're getting some good feedback already and it REALLY helps. An easy fix to make things better is adding navigation lists to the class and races pages (more than one person asked for this) so that a person doesn't have to click too much.

Question for now: I'd like to get some specific feedback on the Cleric class UI. Originally, this was created so that a user could select their deity and both domains at once - they are shown as 'sets'. This seemed like a good idea in concept, but we're curious if more players would prefer the Cleric class page to simply pick out a deity, and then each domain individually based upon that deity's offered domains. Would this be preferable - or is it fine as is?

Also, I wanted to again stress that this application currently only creates level 1 characters - it doesn't 'level'. We're taking the design of this thing in steps, and just getting it to successfully create solid, PFS legal characters at level 1 is a well defined goal. Upgrading the application to handle leveling is an absolute long term goal, but we are not there yet.

Thanks so much everyone!

Based on your sample summoner I like this very much. May I have an access code?

I am the better idiot they warn you about in the adage about making things idiot proof.

If more codes become available, I'd love to get one. Thanks!

I'd like to try it

Updates and fixes for this morning:

  • Easy 'goto' buttons have been added to the class and race selection pages for simpler navigation. No more clicking through twenty classes to find the one you want!
  • The default class for newly created characters is their favored class.
  • Added Fighter's Kit to the DB - poor thing was missing. If anyone spots other equipment or items that should be there, but isn't, let me know and we'll get it added.

Looks interesting!

Also keen for a play if you are flicking codes.

Grand Lodge 4/5

I would love to try this too. Been playing since the DnD White box!

3/5

Sure, I'll try this out and see if there's some feedback that I can give you.

Grand Lodge 3/5

I have to say, playing around with this is quite fun, and am eagerly awaiting for the level up mechanics along with archetypes being added. Currently trying to build a character that I have to see how well he does.

I got busy in the morning, so I couldn't play as much as I wanted.

Shadow Lodge 2/5

Oooh I'd be very interested.
