So I was pretty sure you guys were talking about a generally bard-unfriendly type item, but no. You meant an item that has an anti-bard theme and a "bad thing happens to bards, and bards alone" mechanic.
If nothing else, at least have it also happen to anyone with certain bard abilities? Evangelist clerics? That screwy monk archetype? Pathfinder Chroniclers? Something that makes it not scream "I hate bards" quite as loudly.
Can I UMD my way out of NOT being a Bard to the item and keep that from affecting me?

At first, all caps names were annoying...
But somehow they are causing my brain to start some 80's power metal song when I read it.
I still generally downvote them but they've gone from annoying to amusing.
I'm catching up and trying really hard not to respond to everything, but you know me.
I agree, the all caps names is annoying but in print, they appear to be all caps, so it can be confusing if you've never done this before. Heck, I had Andrew sitting across from me telling me "Don't put it in all caps" and I argued "But it's in the book!"
Of course, I also found the one item in the book that had the wrong feat in the creation section so I screwed that up too.
I let the all cap thing go, unless there are other equally fatal flaws.

Yup, some things you just gotta pick up through sifting through the thousands of pages of info in these boards, or by asking someone who know. Otherwise, it's pretty hard to figure out that the all caps format for titles in the book is a font style that is applied in layout, and that you should not do that in text.
Same goes for a lot of the other formatting errors, which should be easily taught to someone by an editor. Much harder to teach creativity and a sense of what's cool at the table.

You're both right, I don't generally downvote them BECAUSE of the caps...usually the rest of the item has other things much more wrong with it.
I just found it amusing that the all caps went from an annoyance to me to fun metal intro.

Yeah, formatting can be forgiven, but only in Round 1.

Actually, how are item names supposed to be capitalized in the title block? (not in the entry, the part above)? I know it's not all caps, but besides that I'm not sure.
In the text all of the items we've made (if we followed the rules) should be lower case and are common nouns:
flame sword, magic staff, shiny shield, my armor
In the titles and only the titles, they are capitalized like proper nouns:
Flame Sword, Magic Staff, Shiny Shield, My Armor
When it is published the formatting the font changes it to appear like this:
FLAME SWORD, MAGIC STAFF, SHINY SHIELD, MY ARMOR
But unless someone has told you that or you're infinitely clever, it's not easy to find information and it can change from publisher to publisher. You should always ask if you are publishing with a 3pp.

The basic rule of thumb I was given on Tarin's Crown was no fonts at all—with the possible exception of italics.
You provide the words. The publisher provides the "Bling!" :)

Alright little rod, I know that I have complained a lot about the upfront inclusion of the melee capabilities of rods and staves, which I will not go into right now, but if your magic abilities only occur once per day and I have to be holding you in my hand to use you, you better be a mace or club and tell me that or there is no way I am keeping you from treasure or buying you from the shop keeper.
