ONE, you can survive. Two or more? No way.

Everyone should have something they can do in combat. It doesn't necessarily have to be damage, but if you're not going to participate in the fights, then why are you playing the game?

If they can't at least cast guidance in combat, there's a problem.

Exactly, almost every single PFS scenario has elements of in and out of combat activity. You should have something you can do in either with a moderate chance of success or usefulness.

Otherwise you might easily be missing half or more of the game.

When someone says "Guys, my character is hilarious". Which usually translates to does a lot of things he is bad at, is not good at many things, and the characters goals are usually to bring as much attention to the player as possible which in turn make them hard to gm for.

Not to say people who have funny characters are bad, most of them are amazing. But the guy that has to announce it is likely the only guy who finds his character funnny.

What if I tell you my character is ridiculous?

Of course, I usually don't have to tell you, you realize it as soon as I speak in character.

Grand Lodge 3/5

Works for me. Most weird or ridiculous characters are awesome and fun as are the people who play them. You seem to fall into the category of "does not need to insist on how funny his character is" but the "has a funny character camp".

I have a 5E half-elf urchin rogue (thief) with an 8 Intelligence (but I play him as if it was around 6) who is "street smart," which just means a really inaccurate know-it-all. For example, he told a female dwarf PC there are no such things as female dwarves. And she was a barbarian, so that ended well....

Hmm, I have two characters I think are hilarious. One is because he's a gnome APG summoner who decided to put on a ring of invisibility and put a hat of disguise on the eidelon. APG summoners are always combat effective, but disguising the eidelon as a random tiefling is just funny. The other is a core campaign elf wizard with intelligence of 20 and wisdom 7. This means his plans are effective, but crazy.

I like to keep my mental stats varied. My "street smart" rogue has 8 Int, 14 Wis, and 12 Cha because I thought 10 Int, 14 Wis, and 10 Cha was kind of boring.

Pfft, you guys should meet my brother and sister tiefling characters. She's an Oath of Vengeance paladin with a 5 intelligence, and he's an unchained rogue with 5 intelligence.

I have an aasimar paladin whose own familiar (from the Chosen One archetype) describes her as "Nice girl, but not the sharpest katana in the sheathe, if you know what I mean".

She's actually not that dumb. I kept intelligence at 10 for the skill ranks, but went for the typical dumped wisdom paladin thing, since her Will saves get her charisma bonus. I play her as naive, not really stupid. On the other hand, the familiar (thrush, so it speaks common) has 15 wisdom, so his combined int + wis has been higher than hers from day one. It'll take a few more levels for the bird's int to catch up to 10, though.

Speaking of funny characters, that one's fun to play, but sometimes I think other people think it's a funnier concept than I do. She's Japanese Tien-Min, with a talking songbird familiar, so she can best be described as a cross between an anime girl and a Disney princess. My biggest complaint is that song thrush familiars have no skill at perform (sing).

Another fabulous moment: during introductions, it was 5 of us that have played together since Eyes/AFI + a level 19 rogue that we hadn't in-character played with - Silbeg (VC Jack Brown). He starts introducing himself and we interrupt with "OH GOD, HE'S NOT IN THE TELEPATHIC BOND! OH GOD, THIS IS WHAT OUR VOICES SOUND LIKE!" We haven't spoken out loud, save occasionally to taunt enemies, in about 7 levels.

Pathfinder Society and Paizo take a really *dim* view on violence towards anyone advocated on their forums.

In the meat of the post, though, I suspect the best option would be to take a 'sick day' if there is a concern that there will be bias.

Without the "of the character", it implies either undead, reincarnated, or raised players, which sounds much cooler in a lot of ways.

That said, violence in pfs toward players is bad manners and illegal.

You know you're in trouble when you get to the table and ...

... 5 of the 6 PCs in your Emerald spire group are healers of some sort.

That's trouble for the GM, not the players. We played the 5th (?) level yesterday (the level for PC levels 4-6), and other than a fighter, everyone else in the group had some healing beyond just CLW wands. We had a good cleric, a life oracle/paladin, another oracle with the cure spells, a witch with the healing hex, and my paladin with a familiar (Chosen One) who can "Lay on Paws".

Needless to say, our healing easily kept up with the damage we were taking. And despite some very silly moments where the less offensive members of the party failed to damage enemies with DR or good AC, we had no problem taking down all the enemies.

Meh - I've messed up in front of the OPC before. She takes it well. Most people who've been playing PFS for a while know that no one's going to be perfect and that we're all going to have lapses in the rules occasionally. I'm actually more worried about running for a group of random people I've never met than I am for big names in PFS.

What's great is messing up in front of John Compton. He won't say a word unless it's really bad, but his eyes get REALLY big. ;-)
