I am considering making a character that uses his arcane bond to create an intelligent item, something that can cast spells with it's own actions (per the intelligent magic item rules).
But what spells benefit the most from being cast by an intelligent magical item while the wizard or arcane sorcerer is doing his own thing?
I'm looking for suggestions on which spells would work best/have the most synergy with a kind of caster or item.
EXAMPLE: Rainbow pattern comes to mind as it can take several enemies out of the fight and with the item activating it with its own actions AND maintaining concentration, it's much more powerful than it normally would be.
Seeing as neither the item nor the character have been built yet, however, feel free to be creative when making suggestions or offering synergistic builds.
EDIT: Let's make this an idea thread in general, don't limit it to just wizards or sorcerers with arcane bonds. An intelligent, low ego ring made for the fighter or barbarian in the party (so they can benefit from enlarge person quickly) is a great idea that shouldn't be kept under wraps.

Guess I'll start:
- A necromancer build that uses a ring capable of casting animate dead, thereby doubling the amount of undead potentially created/controlled by the duo.
- A Thor-like barbarian character that wields a rod of thunder and lightning which can use call lightning while the barbarian fights.

- headband or circlet that casts Protection from <evil> when it thinks you have been mind controlled (or are going to be). Not so much a synergy, as shoring up a weakness. As a 1st level spell it is affordable (especially if limited use 1/day).
Adding detect evil, low lvl cure spell and perhaps light, it would make a great unicorn-themed item.
I am thinking a punching dagger made from the horn.

Dimensional Door?
It's just an idea I had, but if the item is intelligent, it should be able to tell when trouble is near, or someone's about to assassinate you, so could teleport you away, out of the danger zone. :p
If for example my guy owned a Castle and was about to be assassinated, I'd Dimensional Door travel to the front gate of the Castle and send all of the guards into the Throne Room where the Assassin was last located, as well as explaining what he or she looked like....turning the tables in my favour. :p

Intelligent weapon that casts enlarge person upon its wielder. Or intelligent caster item/ranged weapon that casts reduce person.
Already mentioned protection from (alignment) in item is great idea that I thought about as well.
My favorite infernal healing is a good option.
I have a transmuter wizard whose bonded item was his intelligent composite longbow. Was a hell of a lot of fun to roleplay and the fact that it cast Gravity Bow on itself was awesome.
Regretfully, by RAW it won't work because gravity bow and lead blades target the caster, not weapon and affect any weapon(s) currently wielded by the caster that was carried by him when he cast that spell. It could possibly work if the weapon was animated and fought on itself.

Any none level depedent spells would be good ones, true strike and silent image come to mind for first level spells... Spider climb could get u out of a jam as well.. Gravity bow for bows, lead blades for melee weapons.. Mid levels having haste or fly for free is always nice.. Higher levels id go with heal or true seeing, with the ultimate of resurrection cast on death...

If the GM is willing, give it a Purpose (something along the line of “Protect me!”), then you can access the ‘Special Purpose Item Dedicated Powers’. Go for ‘Item can use a 5th-level spell at will’ and Telekinesis. Also take Senses 120’, and Blindsense so you cannot be snuck up on. Great for keeping people away from your spell caster while he is busy getting ready to ruining their day, or any other time you can justify using it.

I once had a Fighter that was a member of some lost order of mage-killers who had a pair of anti-mage intelligent wakizashi.
Gom and Jabbar
Gom: +1 Corrosive
Jabbar: +1 Shocking
10 Int/Wis/Cha
Senses and Communication: Normal senses to 30'; telepathy. +1 ego.
Special Cause: Hunt evil magic-users. +2 ego.
Special Powers: Cast dispel magic once per day. +1 ego.
Other Qualities: Secretive. -2 ego.
Cost of each: 15,000 gold. +3 ego.
Total cost: 30,000 gold.
Ego: 5.
Well within easy-save range for the Fighter. I had worked out with my GM that, by spending an appropriate amount of my WBL off camera, they'd start getting more abilities as they 'awakened' and decided my Fighter was worthy of gaining access to the higher level powers (though I had to add normal enhancement-bonus-based effects normally).
And yes. I did name them after exactly what you think I named them after.

Very interesting!
Though I though sentient magical items didn't get along with one another. Also, Why do they get +3 ego from having a cost of 15,000gp? Sentient items only counts the base item price for ego modifiers (not those price modifiers that get tacked on for being sentient). In this case, they are only worth 8,335gp each for the purposes of determining ego modifiers and thus should get +2, not +3.

I've always been fond of Gallant Inspiration - a bonus to an attack roll or skill check within short range for any member of the party at a critical juncture can be an absolute life-saver, and as a level 2 spell it's relatively cheap.
Actually, there's a heap of good bard spells that suit an intelligent item - Rage, Heroism, Mirror image, to name a few.

Normally Intelligent MI don't get along. Though there is no rule against making a set of items working together or with a similar purpose.
Personally my favorite one was a Cleric/Paladin Weapon that took on a different shape based on the user that was the vessel of a fallen angel's soul. If i can find/rebuilld it i can post it. All i can say for certain was its purpose was to defeat all evil and bring peace to the world.

Long time ago (back in 3.0 I believe) I had built a Hammer of Force. This was an intelligent Dwarven crafted Light Hammer. This casted disintegrate when you swung it like a weapon and, as a full round action you could swing it at the ground, casting an earthquake centered on the point of impact. It also gave you a bonus to craft (weapon) and craft (armour). Atlas I lost that weapon (and accompanying PC) when he used it to create an earthquake underground. All understanding (and memory) of the weapon and how it was built was lost that day. Advice for anyone trying to duplicate it would be to give it the ability to teleport if it gets buried and the owner slain so it can keep forwarding the Dwarven architecture.
PS I do not remember the stats or how much it cost and I had to get help from others on the forums to price it out, so cant help with that.
Another item that would be good to turn into an intelegent item would be the AstralLegion from d20srd.com. Have it be able to create its own constructs and vola!
Will post more as I think of them.

A snarky ring with constant tongues to act as a translater.
I once gave a party lacking casters an intellegant Wand of Polymorph. Before anyone jumps in I know it is against RAW but the Wand was in full knowlage that when all charges are gone it looses its magic so it would plead and beg people not to use it. It also had a constant Detect Magic and Identify so it would 'talk' to other magic items and tell the PCs what they can do.
