Witch-friendly prestige classes?

Advice

Hullo y'all,

I'm looking for Witch-friendly prestige classes, but I'm not finding anything that leverages Witch's hexes etc. Am I missing something or is Paizo just being stingy?

Thanks!

I, too, would like to see some witch love in the form of PrCs. Perhaps in their upcoming PrC book?

I'm sure in the upcoming prestige class book there will be something along these lines. So far, though, there are no PrCs that upgrade a witch's Hexes, only the spellcasting.

Upcoming PrC book? boy, i'm out of loop, haven't heard anything about it yet - I'm off to track down some info, woo!

Thanks!

Currently there is no prestige class worth taking as a witch. A prestige class would need to advance casting and hexes for it to be worth it. Or be so ridiculously overpowered in other benefits that it becomes better than having hex advancement, but then you'd just have a broken PrC that's better for non-witch casters anyway.

This is the problem I have right now. I have a 4th level witch dimensional occultist and I want to focus on the witch's infernal/demonic ties (in this case infernal because she is from Cheliax) and there is really nothing out there that will keep hex progression up. Spellcasting is assured with the diabolist PRC but not hexes.

Have you taken the Vision of Hell spell yet?

EDIT: Oops, it's 3rd level. So...take it next level...

What does it do?

Basically, you need to fear stack it with something else and trap foes in the area so they can't just flee and must cower. On its own it's a "-2 penalty as long as you don't take a turn to scatter 50 ft" and isnt so good. Combined with black tentacles, pit spells, any other battlefield control, really, and some other fear effect, it can be good.

Nice! Is it a witch spell as well?

Did you go to the webpage?

It's a Witch spell.

Sovereign Court

A better question would be, what do you want the witch to do that the class can't do with the existing tools in the game? Can't have a PrC before that question is answered.

I couldnt since I was at work but I just got home. Nasty spell! I like it and it goes well thematically with my character.

I think the only Prestige class you're ever going to see that advances curses and hexes is going to be the upcoming Winter Witch prestige class (the PrC, not the already existing archetype).

Personally, that's one of the reason why I use the "base magic bonus" system and tied Hexes / Revelations / etc. to it.

Sovereign Court

Supposing classes like Eldritch Knight advanced hexes, too, which class would you want to take?

Not to derail thread, but could you share your "base magic bonus" system?

Perhaps in email...:

Witches receive Hexes partly because of their limited class spell casting ability so unless it is sanctioned play your GM could simply grant Hex improvement along with spell casting advancement.

Tattoo'd Mystic seems like it would work nicely for a witch, thats the route im planning on going but my witch is mostly a healer and debuffer as well as an couldron brewer

Thankfully, this has changed. With the Evangelist, its Aligned Class feature does just this while providing additional PrC benefits.

Also with time it was released the Winter Witch, though it's complatible with only an archetype.

There is also the Winter Witch

It looks like Evangelist and Winter Witch are still the only prestige classes worth considering for witches. A prestige class that does not advance hexes is a non-starter for the Witch class.

Is there a link to the new book of Prestige Classes coming out?

This thread is 4 years old I'm pretty sure the book they were talking about was this.

Although there is a new book of prestige classes on the way. Those are all religion based though, so probably not for witches.

^Unless they plan to do a whole ton of prestige classes for divine spellcasting classes only, you will probably find some options to add divine allegiance to other classes, although I don't know what they want to add to the existing set (Demoniac, Diabolist, Divine Scion, Evangelist, Exalted, Holy Vindicator, Mystery Cultist, Souldrinker, and a few deity-specific ones).

The Evangelist PrC from Inner Sea Gods would work with a witch. With it, you could have all the class features of Witch -1 level while gaining increased BAB, d8 hit die, more skill ranks per level and all the PrC features. It hurts the Will save -- only gets good saves for Reflex.

Assuming a major portion of your character is linked to a god, it can be a good deal.

There's the WinterWitch PrC. It's rather focused in one specific area. but I believe it does progress a witch's hexes.

This was a necro, I don't think the WW PrC was around then.

That being said, I've always been partial to the 1 level Loremaster dip, as you can 'pay back' the Skill Focus with the Secret (Feat) option at first level, while netting you all Knowledge Skills and Linguistics.
