Mermanism is what you get from having an older sister. It isn't so bad, and does lower your chances of drowning, and will typically go away during adolescence.
Bronyism, however, is the terrible money-draining disease one gets from having two younger sisters.
He is lucky.
Edit: naked pony is best pony.

So, I used the Instant Pot for the first time last night, making beef stroganoff from an online recipe.
PROS:
- The final result was quite tasty and well-seasoned. The beef had a nice texture, and the veggies were expectedly mushy, and you typically want in a brown sauce
CONS:
- The recipe said, "40 minutes cook time". That included only the actual pressure cooking time. So my sous-cheffing to prep all the ingredients was 40 minutes, though I know I am extremely slow and deliberate in such endeavors. But then it had me brown the beef in batches in the Instant Pot, which was another 40 minutes. So all in all, including a pick-up of NobodysWife mid-prep, it took 2 hours and 15 minutes to make, and I cut enough corners that doing it "properly" would have been another 15-30 minutes
- Browning the beef in the Instant Pot was a disaster. The first set of cubes came out beautifully. But then, as should be expected when browning flour-coated beef in a small pot, the bottom got coated with flour and there was the classic battle between avoiding burning the flour stuck to the bottom of the pot and actually getting the next batch of beef browned. In the future, I'll brown the beef in my cast iron skillet, thanks, as that's practically what it was designed for
- I added boiler onions to the recipe. I like my boiler onions to remain firm. This isn't really possible in a pressure cooker. They practically merged into the sauce with everything else. Some people would consider this a plus. I would have liked the onions firmer, so again, another separate cooking step
OVERALL:
- They tried to turn beef stroganoff into a "fast, one-dish" meal, and it was neither fast, nor optimally suited to a single dish
- In spite of all that, the final result was quite tasty, and there was plenty to go around
So I'm happy with the Instant Pot so far.

Ah, sometimes you have to watch local government at work to understand why people are so mistrustful of government in general.
OK, whatever.
The implementation is truly arcane:
I mean, the sad thing is, it would take a 13-year-old maybe 30-60 minutes to come up with a reasonable street sweeping schedule and work it out with the street sweeping company.
The fact that our local government hasn't been able to figure it out in over a decade speaks volumes.

My dad meticulously cuts the butter into fine particles mixed with the flour, with a butter knife. at the end, the consistency is a bit like moistened sand.
The reason for this is that, the flour and butter don't react to this process as if you had kneaded it, and thus, it produces a better, less chewy, and more evenly baked crust. Easily the best pie crust I've ever had.
But it takes forever, so I take short cuts, and I make pie crust that's about, 3/4ths as good, but takes half the time.

Just noting it's good enough for some people - who are certainly not me, mind you, as I'm far too morally upright to do that sort of thing obviously you know - to steal.
(I.e. It's solid and I may use it some time.)

My mother died today, after several months of illness. She had qualified medical attention the entire time, was not in pain until the last two weeks or so, and crossed so much off the bucket list. She slept the last three days, which was what she wanted. And now, it's over.
It's just a new world for me now.

Yes. Condolences on your loss, but congratulations that she went the way she wanted to.
I'm old enough to have watched most of my older generations pass on (grandparents, father, stepfather-in-law, uncles, friends, etc.), and it's always easier to deal with someone who says, "It's time for me to go. This is how I want to do it. Goodbye!" than it is a stunning, out-of-the-blue loss.
It's a whole new world, but knowing she went the way she wanted to will mean more to you than you can imagine.

I survived a trip to the Jelly Belly factory with my children!
I thought (stupid me), "Well, the tours are free and it's a Wednesday. There won't be anyone there."
It turned out to be "Mascot Day". There were furries *everywhere*.
So.
Very.
Creepy.But the kids had fun.
why didn't you take me with you?!

damn. A true loss. But she went out on her own terms, and at peace. May she rest peacefully.

I'm sorry for your loss Sissyl, but it seem she passed on with her hands firmly on the rudder of her life, steering again the currents of fate.

Thank you. It was a long process. She was ill for six months before anyone understood what was wrong. Then when we finally knew, it was four good months. And then a few weeks of suffering, pain and confusion. It feels like everything has been put on hold for ages now. And when she died yesterday, maybe it's possible to finally go on for us. I am not sure what I am feeling yet. Equal doses grief and relief, maybe.
