Hums the Imperial March.
IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT!
Tonight, after I return from my tabletop session of Pathfinder, I'm going to start the official IC thread of The First Holocron. Taking a hint from another PbP game I'm playing in, this will be a sort of prologue, consisting of a cantina on Dantooine. This will be a way for your characters to get to know each other and form a bond before you begin the game on Saturday the 19th. I will form the thread and post a background at around 10:30-11:00 MST tonight, so if you're not a night owl like me, feel free to hold off posting until tomorrow.
Also, we'll be having one more person join our party--a Human Jedi by the name of Elek Ardross. I'm sure he'll get to posting his character soon.
That is all. Thank you for your interest so far, and MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!

I am very interested in playing BUT; I only just got a copy of the Star Wars saga edition and am not familiar with the rules yet. Is this a deal breaker?
I'm fine with it, although our DM might have something else prepared. We currently have (including the mystery player who has yet to post) 3 Jedis, 1 Soldier, and 1 Noble. We have melee and ranged combat covered, and my character has diplomacy and current events covered. Might I suggest some skill-based character with knowledge in the sciences and technical support? We could always use a mechanic. :)

Elek |

Elek checking in here. I will update my profile with full stats and backstory tonight / tommorow. Basics of his story is that he has a boy scout like personality and is very naive and trusting. His father was a bounty hunter who would routinely take assasination jobs as well, Elek is aware of this though is unable to mentally confront this fact yet.
HP for level 2: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

Star Wars: The First Holocron.
The adventure begins! May the Force be with you!
Also, welcome aboard, Elek.

What do you feel like playing? We have 3 Jedi now, a Noble, and a Soldier.
We could use a number of things - a Tech Specialist, a Scoundrel, a Scout, a Medic, etc.
Give us a concept and we can help you shape it!

Elek |

Wizards left tech specialist out of the first run of saga edition books. In case your book does not have them here is a link to the wizards page containing the web enhancement for them. (the page will likely contain a lot of broken links, Wizards does not host any star wars content on their site anymore so this is pulled from cache servers.)

Tikael |

Too bad that's just a Talent tree for Scoundrels and not the real class > . >
Better than the first D20 star wars, where a typo left tech specialists with 2 + int skills as opposed to the 6+ int skills they were supposed to get. But yes a full class would be much cooler to have but oh well.

Alright, although I'd really like to play a Jedi I'm afraid I'll fumble the job. So...
_
A hot fighter pilot with tech skills, cashiered from the service and now reduced to piloting scows or low value freighters. Cynical and prone to drunkenness, but way down deep he can touch the force.
_
What do you think?

We have a drunk already, lol. Maybe a different vice? Unfortunately the only character reference I can think of is Sergeant Hatred.

I think the Scout or the Scoundrel make good choices.
The scout has more hit points and access to Survival (which the party lacks) but the scoundrel gets access to the Tech Specialist feat and talent tree.
Both have access to both Mechanics and Pilot, which fall into your character concept.
I agree that another drunk is not ideal. I would advise you were drummed out for something else like striking an officer or refusing to pilot slaves or something altruistic like that. Now you are working odd jobs to survive and question why good guys finish last.
You would have to take the Force Sensitivity feat at 1st level if you want it.

The Jedi Council |

We do already have three Jedi, and we do need a techie kind of character, but my encouragement is to play what you want. It's less about party balance at this point and more about what you would enjoy.
Besides, if you're really concerned about adding a techie character to the party and don't want to play a character that has Mechanics as a class skill, then include a bit in your backstory about how your character loves to tinker, and I may just bend the rules and make your free bonus feat out to be "Skill Training: Mechanics".
Hee.
I agree that taking Force Sensitivity is a good idea. If, at some point down the road he takes an interest in taking up a lightsaber in defense of the Republic, he can do just that.
Take your time, and know that you're welcome here. If you make mistakes, nobody will judge you harshly at this table, so don't worry about "fumbling the job". :)

I played both the d6 and d20 versions of Star Wars and could be referencing those versions that had the prerequisite of taking this at 1st level only.
Personally, I don't think it makes sense after 1st level myself.

It would simply be that your connection to the force has not yet awakened. Cannot think of any relevant examples of characters doing this in canon but I am sure that I have heard of a couple. I mean, there is even a force power (in the jedi academy sourcebook I think) specifically to awaken the force in a non force sensitive person.

Yeah but that is just a short-duration event.
RAW, Saga may allow Force Sensitivity after 1st level. You would then have to take Use the Force skill training as a feat as well - 2 feats down the road.

Camris here.
Here is Kol DyThrand, only have the background left to do.
What do you think?HP for level 2: 1d8+0
I think Kol is spot on.
One recommendation I would make though is this - I would hold off on vessel feats (Vehicular Combat) until we get our hands on some ships.
I believe he will be a welcome addition to the team seeing as he has a wide array of skills, including Survival.

The Jedi Council |

Kol! Thank you for your patience, and your great character background! Due to your character's long hours of experience behind the controls of a ship, you have earned the Bonus Feat: Skill Focus: Pilot!
This will be very important. This is a small spoiler, but at some point in the story, you WILL likely come into possession of your own freighter...and SOMEBODY is going to need to pilot it!

Kalderaan |

Well, with a background as a fighter pilot...
Yes, I now have a backstory!
...I don't see how I can avoid the Vehicular Combat feat.
That certainly makes sense now that you have a background! I'm sure it will come in handy soon!
Welcome aboard - I look forward to interacting with you.
