Heyas all; Skater is willing to take over GMing! good news eh :)

Okay if you're interested post your characters here and I'll fill you in on whats happened so far in New Proverbial!

And the game is under the same heading as this one.

Take care and all the best!

Okay once you've had a read through and designed your character press the below to go straight to the game thread.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Marvel superheroes Feat table

And if that doesn't work try this one

Marvel Feat Table

Umm....what are the rules for creating a character? Can we make our own using the Marvel rules? Can we take a pre-existing DC character and use that? If so, how powerful of a character is allowable? I'll be on the internet tonight so hopefully this can get this worked out. Would like to try the game. Who's gamemaster...Hopeless or Skater? Or is this the same person? I'm confused!

Check out the threads for the discussion of this game you'll find a link there for creating your own character or even looking at a roster of heroes to select from if you wish.

I was originally playing in this game but have taken over running it and have chosen a new identity for gm purposes.

Any questions let me know.

Take care and all the best!

I was interested in a couple of DC characters. Hawkgirl and Supergirl. Valegrim found Marvel stats for both. I don't know what the power level of the game is and I wouldn't want to disrupt it, but Supergirl would be way cool. Here is what he found...I'm not familiar enough with the rules to know how powerful this is. I just know I could get into her. Do what is best for the game though!

Supergirl
Kara Zor-El
Fighting/Excellent
Agility/Amazing
Strength/Unearthly
Endurance/Unearthly
Reason/Excellent
Intuition/Remarkable
Psyche/Remarkable

Health/270
Karma/80
Resources/Poor
Popularity/10

Powers
Class 3000 Solar Absorption and Storage that provides Supergirl with mass amounts of energy that support all her other powers and abilities. She may direct this stored energy to enhance the following abilities:

Kryptonian Physiology: Exposure to a Yellow sun alters a Kryptonian to allow great physical abilities that provide Supergirl with the Agility, Strength, and Endurance Ranks listed under statistics and includes the following powers.

Invulnerabilities: Supergirl has Class 1000 resistance to Heat, Cold, Disease, Corrosives, Toxins and Radiation. Her body's cells protect her internally as well so even her insides wouldn't be melted by drinking a vial of acid.

True Invulnerability: Supergirl's dense Kryptonian body provides her with Unearthly protection from physical and Energy attacks.

True Flight: Supergirl is able to defy gravity and fly at Unearthly airspeeds in atmosphere whilst at Class 3000 speed in space.

Heat Emmision-Eyes: Supergirl can emit her body's stores of solar radiation through his eyes causing Unearthly Heat damage with a 10 area range.

Hyper Speed: Supergirl is fast. She possesses hyperspeed at Amazing rank. She:

May substitute this power rank for Fighting for multiple attacks and evading. May substitute this power rank for Agility for dodging and catching projectiles. May substitute this power rank for Intuition for initiative.

Recovery: Supergirl's body continues absorbing solar radiation even after death. This energy may eventually return her to life making it virtually impossible to kill her.

Supergirl needs an Earth like atmosphere to breath in. Her Endurance enables her to last for extended period holding her breath, but in space she will eventually need a space suit. Her greater constitution provides little need for sleep, however eventually she will tire and require rest.

Superhuman Senses: Supergirl heightened senses as below:
Enhanced Hearing: Unearthly
Microscopic Vision: Amazing
Telescopic Vision: Good
Penetration Vision-Xrays: Unearthly

Limitation
Supergirl is vulnerable to Krytonite an irradiated ore from his home planet of Krypton. He is powered by a particular wavelength of light which happens to be rather abundant in our sun. Kryptonite either destroys or interrupts this because it's radiation is in a band which is similar to sunlight, but causes a different process to occur. In other words, the kryptonite radiation "chases out" the sunlight. There are different spectrums of Kryptonite and its effects on Supergirl are as follows:

Green Kryptonite: causes her body's cells to deteriorate, similar to radiation poisoning in a human being. Exposure to Green Kryptonite causes Supergirl to lose all his powers at -1CS per round. She also loses 1 rank of Strength and Endurance (with its loss of Health) per round until death occurs at Shift-0 Endurance. Removal of the Green Kryptonite enables Supergirl's body to regain lost ranks at a rate of one per round.

Supergirl likely has the same vulnerability to magic attacks as Superman. Magical attacks directly effect Supergirl ignoring any resistances or invulnerabilities. Further more any magical effect is increased +1CS in duration against Supergirl.

Supergirl's powers are based on solar radiation from Earth's yellow sun. Should she be deprived of this radiation for an extended period she will loose all her powers

So there's a magician and Supergirl. What to make? Brought along my Player's Book (Advanced Set) to work.

I haven't got the ok on Supergirl yet, so that's not a for certain thing.

Yes, please. Dungeon Master Player 15/Dungeon Master 13/Monk 2(I'm out of practice!)

Will make a completely random character sometime soon.

Awesome!!!!DM Freehold as well! This looks like it might be fun!

Yes, please. Dungeon Master Player 15/Dungeon Master 13/Monk 2(I'm out of practice!)

Here's what I got rolling randomly and reading the dice both ways to come up with two different characters(old high school caveat, made things more interesting)

Female Mutant

F RM
A TY
S RM
E EX
R IN
I TY
P EX

5 powers, 3 talents, 2 contacts
body control, body control, body control, resistances, distance attacks
Plasticity, Elongation, Blending, Invulnerability, Darkforce Generation

or

Male High Tech

F GD
A TY
S TY
E GD
R EX
I EX
P PR
3 powers, 2 talents, 1 contact
distance attacks, movement, body control,
Sound Generation, Gliding, Body Transformation

I see the first character as an almost M-type mutant(for those who read Generation X), she's quite powerful in both the superhuman and baseline human communities(I'll say she has two high powered contacts and above average Resources), but her weakness is the nature of her abilities, which are impossible for her to hide(she can transform into a living shadow with deep blood red eyes) result in her being a rather insular woman...think Ink's daughter from Batman Beyond, only with her mother's (uncontrolled) powers.

The second guy is a bored scientist working at a company in Texas. Experimenting with his office's equipment, he comes up with a device that turns his mundane radio player into an sonic generator that allows the user to fly poorly or generate bursts of white noise. He tinkers with it some more to create a harness that allows the user to manipulate sound even further, transforming anyone holding the device into pure sonic energy for a brief time.

So, who should I flesh out more?

Reporting for duty.

"Got some coffee."

Imagine Ninja with Spirit Powers.

So that's Supergirl...

I have to admit I've always wanted to run a Youngblood game, however this game started off on the street level, so you can run Kara Zor-el if you want but please note that will also mean the opposition goes up in power, as well... well now lets have a look at those other two sorry three...

Go with the one you fancy playing most, both look fine if memory serves wasn't M the one where she went from superstrong mutant to blindingly brilliant the next?

Inque has a daughter? Thats one Batman Beyond episode I haven't seen...

Skater (npc)
Pong
Johnny Illuminanti
Mechimera

and the new cast;

Super Girl (hopefully)
#1: ?
#2: ?
#3: ?

So its up to you what you'd like to play

Hope to hear from you all soon!

The stats are under the profile.

Count me in with Supergirl. I have busy weekend coming up but will find time to post if your ready. Just let me know when. Also let me know if there are any changes to the character that you want to make, otherwise I'll just play what Val found...well somewhere here on the internet. let me know what you need me to do. If you need to reach me privately you can at...

I actually watched the episode where he and Naruto fought in the arena then missed the intervening episodes where both he and Naruto were in giant modes and Naruto head butted Gaara.

It does mean I may have to introduce the Twelve... but then there is the Hand of course...
Look forward to see what develops!

No problem it does mean introducing kryptonite though and its currently night time in the game at the moment though I'll have another look at Heroic Personae

Swap out the Energy Absorption & Storage power for Energy Conversion/Solar at Unearthly power rank, as long as she doesn't use any power or Strength at Amazing or greater rank there's no chance of depowering herself whilst there's no visible source of solar energy, at Amazing rank it requires TWO failed (white) checks on any power or Strength attribute to cause a drop of -1CS in all powers, Agility, Strength and Endurance, at Monstrous requires one such failed check and at Unearthly level it causes an automatic drop of -1CS in all powers and those mentioned attributes (Agility can't drop below Good, Strength below Typical and Endurance below Excellent in any case) these can be resolved by a quick trip into Earth orbit to get direct exposure to sunlight (Which is why Routh's Superman was spending so much time up there).

I think her Reason score's a little low given her background, found the file you were referring to.
Oh no change needed in attributes but I still think her Reason's a little low, do you want to fill in the talents?

And was this what you're referring to?

Kara Zor-El

The Supergirl stats that Valgrim found I already posted on this thread, its on this page and towards the top. Just scroll upwards and you'll see the stats. I'm not sure where he found the stats from, you'd have to ask him that.

Please check the stats above and if they aren't correct let me know. They may be the same, they may be different. Let me know.

I'm in the process of deteming talents. Being that I am pretty unfamiliar with the rules (haven't played since 1988, and even then just a little bit), I have a question about talents.

The book says (Players Handbook, page 10, Generating Talents):
Generate the number of Talents on the Powers, Talents, and Contacts table. The number before the slash is the initial number, while the second number is the maximum of initial Talents. For each talent gained, roll on the talent category and choose one talent in that category.

I rolled an 88%, so I got a result of 3/4. What I'm confused on is what they mean by initial number of talents as compared to the maximum initial talents. Does this mean that I have 3 talents but later on in the game I can acquire a 4th talent? The use of the word "initial" is confusing in the text.

Assuming that I'm suppose to have 3 talents, this is what I came up with on random die rolls:

Roll 1: Professional Skills/Business Finance
Roll 2: Professional Skills/Engineering
Roll 3: Scientific Skills/Biology

From what I know of the character (which isn't a lot), I believe she did some acting later on a soap opera.

Using the Wikipedia I found this information:
In her secret identity, Linda attends Midvale High School as Linda Lee Danvers. In later years, after graduating from Stanhope College, she changes careers several times, holding jobs in student counseling, news reporting, and acting in a TV soap opera titled Secret Hearts. She also attends college in Chicago. Kara has many boyfriends, including Richard (Dick) Malverne, Jerro the merboy from Atlantis, and member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, Brainiac 5. She does, however, shun serious commitments, putting her super-career first.

Would it be permitable to adjust the Talents to match the above a bit better? Also at what period of time are we looking at for this character in regards to where she lives, secret identity, that sort of thing. If I maintain a secret identity is there something in the Marvel Rules to faciliitate this aspect of my superhoer career?

Select the talents you fill fit what you see the character as possessing.
The limits listed in the book allow you to reduce your resources rank by 1 to add an additional talent but I'd recommend not reducing resources below Poor.

You might want to pick up Student which i believe is a talent but what you feel best will be fine.

I'll make some changes on the Talents then.

Question: At what age is the character in her life? High School, College, out of College? How established of a Super Hero am I? Also is it permitable to add to contacts...those listed were Batman, Superman, and Superboy. Can I turn Superboy into the Legion of Super Heroes, as that's where she would know Superboy from anyway?

Batman's fine although you won't know his secret identity, also Superman but Superboy is unlikely since he's currently deceased and the only other one is a villain.

The Superboy associated with the legion is in supergirl's future depending on which version you're referring to and as I remember it they tended to make sure visitor's from the past didn't remember their visits to the future anyway.
The one mentioned by Maelidek is the one introduced in the Superman and Batman series who arrived following the destruction of a huge Kryptonite meteor that was heading for earth.
She's barely begun her career so she's as new at this as the others.

I've gotten back into the Legion just over the past 2-3 years, so I haven't been able to sort out that DC mess. I missed the whole Infinite Crisis thing (the first one and the current one) so I'll just assume that Supergirl's experiences have been limited to the 21st century.

I'd like to pass on Batman as a contact because if he is still going to be a central figure in this PBP I think it would be more fun to get to know him rather than assuming I already do.

So Superman's ok as a contact though?

Can I do anything with the bottled city of Kandor? Did Supergirl know anyone from there? How long ago did I get out? I'm confused on her past? When did she get out of the bottled city and how? What about the whole adoption by the Danvers? I don't know what is real history and what was eliminated by DC. Is there somewhere I can go on the internet to read the "real or current" history of Supergirl?

Help?

Sure her background could be altered to fit the supergirl movie by saying that bottled city is actually all thats left of Argo and she managed to reach Earth thanks to a family friend who had intended to go himself.

Try wikipedia for background on the various Supergirl's they should include links to various other sources you can read up on, ultimately you get to decide her background you could easily claim to have come to Earth to find the bottled city having been released from it during its transportation and came to Earth seeking the aid of the last son of Krypton however you need to find information on what happened to the bottled city for example whether its in Brainiac's hands or some other entity even say Darkseid shrank it before the destruction of Krypton and it was exchanged or even moved whereupon Supergirl was freed perhaps as part of a plan Darkseid has for an army of fanatical Kryptonian foot soldiers... its really up to you.

Danvers I believe was an alias originally later on Matrix the artificial lifeform from another parallel earth merged with Linda Danvers trying to save her life literally becoming a new person whose history you can read up on wikipedia in the movie it was simply an alias she chose I don't know about the other incarnations mind you although the JLU was Kara and then there was of course that business with her clone Galatea who I assume was intended to be Power Girl.

Her past is yours for the making, literally.
