Age of Worms Adventure Path

51 to 100 of 242 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | next > last >>

This Age of Worms is in Eberron... everyone took their time thinking how they got to Diamond Lake, so here's there history as well.

Currently, the group is in the Hall of Harsh Reflections.

"Brownie" d'Orien - Halfling Wiz 5/Cataclysm Mage 2

A member of House Orien, Brownie's brother died in a bandit raid on their barge while it was on the Dagger River in Breland. Brownie was on watch, but fell asleep and was tossed overboard. He disappeared to Diamond Lake out of guilt, and was taken in by Allustan as an apprentice. When he became a cataclysm mage, he took the couatl name Tamaran-seth; the group now calles him Tam.

Siell - Shifter Mnk 7

Siell is an initiate of the Twilight Monastery; a longtooth shifter, he prefers to get in close and grapple his opponents, going for the throat to keep them from screaming.

Ro, aka "Patrick", "Lance", etc. - Changeling Rog 5/Ftr 2

Ro was a member of a changeling community in the Talenta Plains, but volunteered for the Cyran army when a wayward patrol marched through the area. He was scouting in Breland on the Day of Mourning, and merged with a flood of refugees in the following weeks. He later moved to Diamond Lake, taking the guise of a local tailor and as a guide to the local Dhakaani cairns.

Lynnell (d'Lyrandar) - Half-Elf Drd 7

Lynnell's parents paid good money to diviners to find out if they would have a dragonmarked child, and were disappointed when Lynnell did not bear one at birth as they had been told. They abandoned her with a sharecropping family in the Eldeen Reaches, who were later murdered by the Ashbound. She was found by orcish Gatekeepers, and raised in their druidic traditions. She left to explore civilization, traveling to Diamond Lake's Bronzewood Lodge where she met the rest of the party.

Darshana - Shifter Bbn 5/Weretouched Master 2

Darshana met the group when they raided the Dourstone Mine's Temple of the Shadow. She had been trapped in the Shadow Labyrinth for days, and was glad to see others hunting the bird-men that had played cat and mouse with her for days. A razorclaw shifter with weretiger roots, she relishes melee combat, especially now that she's started to get more in touch with her roots.

Well the last party I was in was over a year ago so some of the details are a little fuzzy, so bare with me. WE were in the Forgotten Realms and were trying to figure out what the hell was going on with the Zents and a few other nefarious peoples in the area.

We had as follows.

Dagareth: a Human Paladin of Hoar! He was training to be a paladin of Tyr at one point but something happened to his family and he blamed the Tyrians for it so he left his paladin training to seek revenge, however, he stayed LG and kept all his abilities but he didn't know what god was granting them to him until a few sessions into the game.

Frink: A gnomish rogue and illusionist. Crazy greedy little man he was. Forget the back story on him but he did eventually have to go back to his home and try and save it from some sort of evil as the gnomes were just making hand bows all day, there was no drinking and no singing and no merriment whatsoever. Imagine that a gnomish community with no drinking or laughing or joking about! Horrible I say. His allignment was CG

THen we had an Earth Gensai by the name of Sunoborn (I don't think i spelled it correctly oh well) He was a fighter, ranger and a barbarian I believe, he was a damage machine. He dealt it out in droves. Nothing could stand against him, but his alignment did play havoc with some of the spells that the cleric used. CN. He also was magically altered so that he was large in size. So he was almost a god to the stone giants! but of course his AC wasn't so hot, but the DM stated it flatly, "he deals a lot and he takes a lot!" fair is fair i suppose.

Then we had a cleric, Half-elf cleric of Helm actually. He was initially sent to investigate the mysterious paladin who apparenly had no god, but then they found him out and they kind of became friends. He hated elves with a passion! Especially since his mother was a priest of Mystra, whom was never around. Talk about defiance on all fronts! He was trying to help everyone out and figure out some sort of puzzle involving TORM and HELM and the two oldest temples of their faiths in Cormyr. Also tried to convert a former priestess of Bane. He was pretty much a walking tank, but he didn't do much in combat except summon Dire apes, and a few other spells. He was also a watcher too.

Then we had another finesse fighter but he only played a couple of times. A very tall human who liked to play with a little foil/rapier. What a fop, but good in a combat.
We never got to finish the campaign and eventually stopped at around 12th level, but it was fun, now we are all getting the itch again, oh well we will have to see how the summer goes.

Hello, I'm new on Paizo's forum (forgive my english) and I intend to DM AoW. So far, we've been playing a few sessions before beginning AoW. After "Mad god's key", "bad light" "what's cooking" (free wotc) and another one, they have just begun "Fiend's embrace" : I will tie the Iuz group with Filge from WC, and have my group find a letter from F in Diamond lake. It will be quite easy for the first (and second, I guess) AoW adventure, but anyway, it's better to make them play all adventures. Most of them are experienced (15-20 years of play). They are (first name only, can't remember the last names) :

- Roberc, M halfling thief 4 NG, (Elmshire)
- Lysystrata, F half-drow wizard 4 LN (follower of Wee-Jas) (underdark near Istivin),
- Hko, M dwarf Brb 4 CG (Greysmere),
- Garrak, M human (orc blooded) fighter 4 NG (Greyhawk),
- Plume , M human thief 4 CG (around Greyhawk),
- Sheshnara, F human (orc blooded) favored soul of Mayaheine 4 LG (wild coast now occupied by Pomarj forces).

As you can see, the only problem is 4 PCs out of 6 have darkvision, but none of the thieves.

Just finished up Whispering Cairn. We are using the Gestalt rules. We have the following:
Cleric/Paladin of Heironeous 3 (Male Human)
Rogue/Swashbuckler 3 (Female Half Elf/Half Drow - Think elf but with Darkvision)
Barbarian/Fighter 3 (Male Half-Orc)
Wizard/Warmage 3 (Male Human)

Anyone else using Gestalt rules with AoW?

Sovereign Court

Most of the party that started with WC1 died by the time Encounter at blackwell keep was over. So here are the newest group on their way to the free city to meet Eligos :
1. Marda Summershade-Female half sun elf sorceror. The only remaining survivor since the ap began. she was the illetigimate daughter of Moonmeadow's deputies. worked at the emporium to support herself and her Calimsite mother.
2. Norlan Scargil- Male fire genasi, Fighter/Cleric(Kossuth).
3.Khoura ibn Persaud-Male Calmsite human,Rouge
4. Chiang Shah- Male Shou human,Monk(Ilmater)

Just finished 3faces

1. Human Ranger 5/Druid 1 of Obad-Hai
2. Human Barbarian 2/Cleric 4 of Kord (led to Dimaond Lake on Dream quest)
3. Grey Elf Rogue 6 (chief spy for Elluvial Moonmeadow)
4. Gnome Wizard 6 (apprentice to Allustan)

Eberron campaign, we just started Whispering Cairn. I've pleaded with my players not to read or look for these forums, so if they are upset that I reveal their secrets here, it's their own fault :)

Barclay (male changling wizard) is a student of Allustan, and keeps his race a secret--to his friends, he is a human. He is highly intellecutal and secretive, but he trusts Allustan, and when Allustan sends him to explore the cairns, he goes without questions.

Emelda Parrin (female human artificer) is the baby sister of Luzane, the mine manager. Emelda, who hates her name and goes by "Emme," has resisted her sister's efforts to raise her in the mining world, and, when given the opportunity to explore with Barclay, she eagerly accepts.

Rock (warforged fighter) showed up in Diamond Lake with amnesia three years ago. He has since worked as one of Luzane's miners, and Emme is his closest friend. He goes where she goes. And now, it is imperative that he goes somewhere other than Diamond Lake--before the campaign started, he accidentally killed a miner, and is now seen as something of a monster.

Eldarwen Cuthalion (female changling rogue) is an outcast from Sharn. She too keeps her status as changling secret, but she poses as an elf. She is running away from the "Sisters of Night" an obscure guild to which she once belonged in Sharn who she believes is responsible for the murder of her boyfriend.

In this campaign, Allustan will betray the party, Filge wills serve as their source of information in Allustan's place, and Tirra is an agent of the Sisters of Night.

I'm running the AoW in Eberron:

Ezekiel Rayens, LG male human cleric of the Silver Flame: originally from Thrane, Ezekiel's father was a paladin of the Silver Flame who died defending his family's village from a Karrn raid during the closing days of the war. The young Ezekiel went on a pilgrimage to Flamekeep where he swore himself to the Flame. Years later, Ezekiel found himself in Diamond Lake unable to make ends meet, and has taken up doing the work of the Flame in the city.

Diurge Silvercloud, NG male Aerenal Elf ranger: Came to Khorvaire with the Valenar elves, but when they turned on the Cyrans he deserted them and after a few unsucessful adventures, wound up in the mines of Balabar Smenk, hundreds of gold in debt. He's had a had fall, but Ezekiel has helped to guide him out of the gutter.

Arista Silvercloud, NG female Aerenal Elf evoker: Came in search of her brother, Diurge, but when she finally found him a few weeks ago, she had exhaused her all her finacial resources and the pair no longer has any means to return home. Arista, however, is extremely interested on the magic of elementals and has become distracted from returning home to explore the cairns around Diamond Lake.

Myr, N male personality warforged artificer: Found inert in the Whispering Cairn. He bears markings that designate that he came from Merrix d'Cannith's forges in Sharn, but has little memory of who exactly he is.

Lashwen Dehray, CG female human warlock: The niece of one of the girls at the Emporium, Lashwen came to live in Diamond Lake with her aunt when her overbearing, sinister father finally passed away. Tainted by fiendish blood, her personal redemption has become the 'project' of Ezekiel.

I allowed the party to start at 3rd level and adjusted the encounters to suit, they just made 4th level last session. They've almost finished exploring the Whispering Cairn and should be meeting the Land boy soon. They've already had several brushes with Kullen and his gang, Smenk, and even came accross Filge as his wagons moved into town, and have done some negotiations with Luzane Perrin and Lazare to bring down Smenk.

Liberty's Edge

We are currently working our way through the Dourstone Mine, having cleared the Whispering Cairn. Party consists of four:
Elar Stravan - Fighter 4 - Party leader. A miner from Diamond Lake interested in clearing the regions dungeons and developing a casino resort complex in Diamond Lake. He fights with a masterwork crowbar, and refuses to weild real weapons.
Elaine Stravan - Healer 2/Cleric 2 - Elar's baby sister and a pacifist. She has grown more militant in the face of the growing undead menace. Is developing a relationship with the paladin Melinde that causes Elar some consternation.
Abel Ablesone - Rogue 4 - An engineer who worked the mine equipment, now Elar's "security expert". Quiet, professional, and extremely dangerous to cross. Killed Filge in a fit of anger when Filge made one too many crass jokes.
Rissa Willowbrook - Sorceror 4 - A mysterious seductress who associates with Abel, and sells alchemical charm son the side. Powerful, but not trustworthy. Elaine dislikes the way she bends Elar's ear and leads him away from the straight and narrow.

The whole party is Chaotic Good with the exception of Elaine, who is NG leaning towards Lawful Good.

Mostly carbon.

All 1st-level humans. A rogue, paladin, monk, and cleric/wizard. Starting tonight.

The party now consists of the cleric/wizard and three new characters, all just hit 5th level. We've had four deaths so far, and they're only 2/3rds through the TFoE!

All began tonight ( at 1st Level) and first meet at the Ferral Dog... where they also heard a certian Free City Fighter boasting of his next great adventure to a party of halflings and almost started a brawl with Kullen and his posse....

Nathan, a human Monk from the twilight monastary
Randall Parrin, human Paladin, who is visiting his aunt Luzane Parrin
Heiromous, halfling ( a very strange clumsy, armored, halfling) Priest of Heironeous
Alcyon, Elven Wizard... competing with three other mages for Allustan's apprenticship
Emeroan, Elven Driud and
Lothor, Human Ranger sent by the Bronzwood Lodge to investigate some miner named Smenk... who has sent surveying parties into the woods.
And Kurst, a Half Ork Priest of Wee Jas, who hasfollowed some attemted grave
robbers that he and some brethern chased out of the bone yard last night he only saw a tattooed hand of one of the robbers, but has recognized Kullens forhead tattoo...

All went really well tonight and the group can't wait to see all the seeds planted start to grow. When we start back up, they've made arrangements to have a local lead them to another cairn.... not the one that that Braggart at the Ferral Dog was going on about...he he he...

We started the AoW on January, 10th. we are playing in the Kingdom of Kalamar setting. Diamond Lake is located in the Swamp around the Alubelok Coast. The Free City is Sobeteta.
We have six players starting at level 1, but are after their first retreat from the WC are level 2:

Flambart, gnome, cleric 1/ wizard 1
Razhan, human svimozhier, gladiator 2
Hazel, human, shaman 2
Torvald, half-hobgoblin, fighter 1/ barbarian 1
Mashita, halfling, rogue 2
Shannath, human, ranger 2

My players are currently at the beginning of the 3rd adventure, the assault on Blackwall Keep.
The party currently consists of:
- Sir Devenworth ('Boomph' for friends) Half-Giant Paladin 4
His god is Kelemvor and he carries a large scythe around.
- Glimdiir Shield Dwarf Druid 5
- Kiana Human female Monk 5
- Cat Moonglow female Tiefling Barbarian 4

The campaign is starting to live more and more for them as the adventure path progresses, they also like the tough fights they've had so far (really challenging --> more satisfaction)

I've got a fun group, I think. It started off as somewhat of a nightmare- an Elven Ranger, a Gnome Barbarian, a Human Hexblade, and a Human Paladin. Wonderful, huh?

It's changed a bit since then. Here's the basic run-down:

Kierran: Human Paladin of Heironeous 4/Ranger 1. Kierran, who started as a Paladin of Heironeous, was sent to Diamond Lake to see what it was like living with the dregs of human society (unknown to him, of course). His superiors (some of the people at the church in the Garrison) basically sent him around doing all of the annoying jobs he didn't want to do, until he managed to get himself caught up in the events of the Whispering Cairn. We just finished the Three Faces of Evil, and during it, he decided to leave the church- mainly because Malorie (one of the characters I'll explain in a moment) died at the hands of enemies that the church wasn't willing to fight because of the social implications. He's now a Ranger, with Favored Organization: Cult of the Ebon Triad.

Shadowhand Silverbones (or "Bones" for short): A gnome barbarian with a 7 intelligence. He's lived in Diamond Lake for as long as he can remember (which, really, isn't much farther than last Tuesday). He's got a feat that I made up for him that acts as Powerful Build, but for small creatures (so, basically, he counts as a medium-sized character for purposes of weapons, grapple, and other similar things that depend on size)- and he's been working as the doorman for Tidwoad's. He's got two goblin sidekicks named Grunge and Stefan, who have helped out in social situations but otherwise haven't actually gone on adventures. Bones is hilarious- he tries to eat everything (often mixing it with the gravy-paste from the Whispering Cairn, which he was delighted to find was edible and tasty), and he uses his axe for pretty much anything. He started off as a Barbarian, but then began taking Cleric- which, flavor-wise, is completely unknown to him. He doesn't have a deity (that he knows of), he just gets this weird power from... eh, somewhere? And he uses it to great extent most of the time. He's a Barbarian 1/Cleric 4.

Elijah: An Elven Paragon 5 (Dragon Compendium- basically, a better version of the Bard), Elijah came about when his player (who was playing an Elven Ranger) decided that he had sorta painted his character into a corner with his motivation. As far as he could see (after the Whispering Cairn), his character didn't have any reason to continue adventuring- or even begin, for that matter. So he instead made a new character, and Elijah was born. Elijah was a connoiseur of the finer points of life, when he came to Diamond Lake to visit his friend Allustan- at which point he got robbed, and was stuck there. Allustan, having gotten a letter from Manzorian telling him that Elijah had to travel with the rest of the PCs (due to a divination on Manzorian's part), got Elijah to join the Age of Worms.

And last, but not least, Malorie: Human Hexblade 4. Malorie was a Human Hexblade that happened to be traveling through Diamond Lake (partaking in the gambling that goes on there) when she, eager to earn some treasure to her name, joined the other players in exploring the Whispering Cairn. In the fight with the Ebon Aspect, however, at the end of the Three Faces of Evil, Malorie was killed, and her body thrown into the pool in the Dark Cathedral. Upon slaying the beast, Kierran (the human Paladin above) dove in after her, but to no avail- he couldn't find her. Basically, her player was moving to New York, and so in order to rationalize her character just leaving the party (as well as to give the party some more incentive to continue this whole thing), I killed her off- with the player's permission, of course. It seems to have worked so far.

What do you all think?

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8

The party I'm running through Age of Worms consists of:

Trinton, goblin cleric 4 of Xan Ye: Trinton is a reject from the Twilight Monastery - more concerned with uncovering hidden lore than listening to his teachers, and with little concern for martial matters, he dropped out after picking up the basics to move to Diamond Lake and find his fortune. It was he who "liberated" the map of the Whispering Cairn from Dietrik Cicaeda and started this whole mess. Both of his ears were cut off by Kullen when he was captured by the half-orc's gang of thugs.

Sasha, human barbarian 5: Stolen away by lizardfolk of the Red Hand tribe and raised by the Cold Sun lizardfolk (who rescued her from the elements) from the age of three, Sasha is a wild and illiterate woman with a heart of gold, but a fist of iron. She is immensely proud of her combat prowess, boasting of how she severed the head of Theldrick of Hextor in a single blow. She is fond of Diamond Lake, and would like to see more of civilization.

Vincent d'Froog, elven rogue 4: Vincent is Tirra's nephew, and a skilled thief. Unfortunately, that didn't prevent him from getting in trouble with the Grandmaster of the Free City's Thieves' Guild. So Tirra has passed him on to another group of adventurers in the hopes that he makes enough money to be able to survive returning to the Free City. Vincent has absolutely no problem with allowing Tirra to continue adventuring in the wrong cairn, though.

Ari, human hexblade 4 (deceased): A smug, arrogant and violent man, Ari fell in with Trinton's band after releasing him from bondage - he was an operative sent by Smenk to keep an eye on the potentially dangerous adventurers, and to steer them towards "taking care of the problem". Alas for him, his hatred of Trinton and his poor tactical skills combined for a grisly death, as he was drained of his blood by a dire weasel not too long after joining the group.

Started the campaign in June/July and faced a TPK while assaulting the Banite fortress (Hextor temple). Campaign went on hiatus, but then resumed in December after a four months break**.

The party composition is (starting "Encounter at Blackkeep"):

- Serendip: N male air genasi Rogue 2/Fighter 2
- Geth Sombremanteau: LG male human (Illuskan) Cleric 5 of Tyr
- Evendur Dundragon: N male human (Chondathan) Scout 4/Ranger 1
- Amafrey Tilgast: LN female human (Illuskan) Wizard 5

Amafrey is daughter of the mine manager and apprentice to Allustan.

Serendip was kidnapped as a child and brought from Calimshan to Undermountain to be sold as exotic slave to the Iron Ring. He forgot most of it and would like to know how he was sold to lady Zalandra and added to the freak show run by the Emporium (will be explored once they reach Waterdeep).

Bocklin

**: Only one character actually had dropped to -10, the others where simply unconscious, so I ruled that the Banite had taken the three other prisonners. Roleplayed the evasion and overwhelming of the clerics, then went on with the rest of the scenario. The actually dead character was replaced by a prisonner taken by the Banite and thrown in with the three others.

My players are (--- means i cant remember the name but i will try to update it)

Cliff Dimond (Dwarf) 3rd level Cleric of Moradin
Killian (Half Elf) 2nd level Fighter/1st level Sorcerer (going for Eldrich Knight)

--- (Half Elf) 2nd level Fighter
--- (Half Elf) 3rd level Rouge (going for Dungeon Delver or Arcane Trickster)
--- (Human) 1st level Druid (going for Arcane Hirophant (maybe a little Mystic Theurge)

Liberty's Edge

I guess the old thread has vanished and it's time to update anyways:

Greyhawk based, playing in Northern California since late August, every Tuesday from 5-9PM. A bit of a lull around the Holidays but this schedule has the PCs nearly fifth level and they're just getting into the Hextorite's territory in Three Faces of Evil. A prelude story and an expansion of the Smenk storyline with Gansworth has them slightly ahead of the level progression which is fine for the party size.

Graum, half-orc Wiz4, former apprentice of Allustan
Miö, dwarf Clr4, bastard son of Ragnolin Dourstone
Akabane, Baklunish Soulknife4, former garrison employee
"Spade" aka Gerzin, Sueloise Rog4, former debtor/miner Three-Dragon Ante master
James of the Gnarley, Oeridian Rgr5, Ranger Knight on assignment to Bronzewood tracking a band of kenku.

We have gone to the great city of Greyhawk

Human Cleric of We Jas 5th Master of the Shrouds 2nd
Human Fighter 4th Sorcerer 1st Disciple of the Dragon
Half Orc Fighter 7th (soon to be tempest master of the blade)
Human Fighter 4th Barbarian 1st Rage Archer 2nd
Half Duegar Wizard 3rd Psion 3rd (Soon to be Cerbromancer)

and few random friends who show up

Party of four:

Elf Ranger
Halfling Rogue
Half-Orc Cleric
Human Wizard

Still in WC, still low level, still learning 3.5 edition rules, still a long way to go... but having a lot of fun.

Silver Crusade

my players are an exotic bunch, even for for most PCs. but then, they are also playing in the Iron Kingdoms setting as well, so that could account for alot of it... ;)

the party composition is as follows:

Adhira Caoimhe (Satyxi Ftr 5)
Grimmly Barten (M Scharde Rog 2/Nin 3)
Rahs (M Nyss Drd 3/Gmg 2)
Roberts (M Scharde Cmk 2/Ftr 1/Swashbuckler 2)
Faith (F Umbrean Lunar Rog 5)
The Nameless Trollkin (M Trollkin Bbn 5)
and a male Umbrean 5th lvl druid whose name escapes me at the moment.

they are about halfway through 3FoE at the moment

My party is:

Human with Draconic Template, Paladin-4, Fighter-2, PsiWarrior-2
(built around divine might, and will take levels in Human Paragon and Fist of Raziel along with feat for extra smiting).

Human Cleric-6, Morninglord of Lathander-2,
(Morninglord of Lathander is a real undead killer)

Human Ranger-6, Stalker of Kharash-2
(at 9th level gets Nemesis-evil)

Dwarf Psion (kinecticist)-8 (probably going into Loremaster)

They used the elite array rules to roll their stats which are pretty good, so they had to pay off the +1 ecl with some experience alahaa Unearthed Arcana. They have had multiple party members disabled but so far no deaths, although Zyxroqog nearly got them mind blasting them every round, the Pally made his save and can deal out a massive amount of damage.

Rexx wrote:

"Spade" aka Gerzin, Sueloise Rog4, former debtor/miner Three-Dragon Ante master

How's that game working out? I bought it a while back but haven't been able to work it in the game yet. My players meet/recruit in the dragonchess parlor, and it would be more interesting to give them something they could actually play.

We're starting the Hall of Harsh Reflections, running in Greyhawk.

Our party includes:
>>> Berserker 7 (from Iron Heroes)
>>> Invisible Blade 7
>>> Cleric 6/Rogue 1
>>> Armiger 7 (from Iron Heroes)
>>> Sorceror 6 (some weird magician type from Arcana Evolved)

So far it's been great fun, and most of the characters have survived for quite a while now (crosses fingers).

Scarab Sages

This is our 3.5 (1st campaign) PCs; we've completed Mad God's Key from Dungeon 114 (practice run for the DM) & Whispering Cairn:

Aristabulos H-Cleric of St Cuthbert (killed by a raging Cullen while trying to negotiate a truce)

Ardenta Jakk E-Rogue

Guzzler Falstaff H-Fighter

Qull Verboetten H-Fighter

Serrenta Tzal H-Cleric of Pelor

Shadowspawne 1/2E-Rogue

Vandall Hex III H-Wizard

we're running 3 Faces of Evil on Saturday.

I'm running a game for the following (all of them are 10th level):

Shal - NG Githzerai Male Cleric of Aphrodite - Society of Sensation
Trkrn'ans - LG Shaktar Male Paladin/Sorcerer - Harmonium
Boyd - CN Half-Elf Male Rogue - Xaositect
Alsorna Tarwick - LN Human Female Ranger - Mercykiller
Rufus Acidhook IV - CN Human Male Fighter/Wizard - Xaositect
Sharst Lucann - CN Human Male Sorcerer - Bleak Cabal (recently deceased), and replaced by
Lillith - LN Half-Elf Female Fighter - Harmonium

An eclectic mix of planars that were about to start an adventure form the Eternal Boundary, but then I read the Whispering Cairn, and dropped them through a door and onto Oerth ;)

We are playing in Greyhawk. We have four charachters, and have just cleaned the Hextor area of 3FoE (we are 4th level now).

1) Michelle, human female fighter, CG. She fights with a scythe (41 DMG on a crit in Whispering Cairn, first level!) and is on the way to become a Weapon Master for the scythe (at high level, crtical with 17+, x5 DMG!!!). Michelle is an animal trainer, too: she has two war dogs (Dharma and Greg) and is training the young owlbear (he will be ready by Encounter at Blackwell Keep).

2) Vlad, human male cleric of Pelor, CG. He's our invaluable healer and Undead Grinder. He plans to become a (NG) Radiant Servant of Pelor.

3)Robert Lorlovheim, human male wizard, LG. He is the maker of our magical objects (scrolls only, for now).

4)Jin, orc male rogue-fighter-monk (planning to multiclass as assassin, wizard, and arcane trickster), LE. He is the scout, but is also the second fightning-type of the group. He has 22 STR and uses a spiked chain, fond of tripping foes (especially when enlarged by Robert).

By the way:

- for ability scores, we use the system of Iron Heroes: 18, 16, 14,12,10 and 8. Most satisfying. To compensate, I often adjust enemies to be slighty more powerful.

- we play orcs, never half orcs. DMG states they have +4 STR, -2 INT, -2 WIS, -2 CAR, and sunlight vulnerability. Devastating as fighter-types.

- we use craft and handle animal skills to purchase items at 1st level at one-third of value (most useful for armor and war dogs!).

- we use Flaws.

Do you like this party?

We are playing in Greyhawk. We just cleared the Hextor part of the dungeon in 3FoE (4th level PC).

Michelle, CG human fighter (plans to become a weapon master with th scythe).

Vlad, CG human cleric of Pelor, our healer and Undead Grinder.

Robert Lorlovheim, LG human wizard, the crafter of magical objects.

Jin, LG orc rogue1-fighter2-monk1 (plans to become monk2-assassin10-wizard1-arcane trickster5). 22 STR, fights with spiked chain.

Currently standing at:
Hans, NG half-elf Sor4 (with elemenatal graft familiar)
Ember Draco, N human (Suel) Bard 3 (one 'ghost' level in dragon bloodline from UA)
Kaman Nasht Thah, LN tiefling Mnk2/Rog1
Hilter Zane, LN human (Baklunish) Clr3 of Xan Yae
Gaschtoff, LG human (mixed Oeridian) Ftr3
and
Bloodmoon, N half-giant psychic warrior 3 (may currently be dead...)

and the truly dead:
Strodes Muret, NG aasmiar Clr1 (rotting at the bottom of Diamond Lake; don't refuse to heal the party...)
Skrymir Gallahee, CG azurin Pal2 (variant); returned for burial in Greyhawk at temple of Trithereon
Frey, CN shadowswyft Rog1, body under observation at Twilight Monastery

... I may have created a monster with the "campaign options" I randomly handed (hence non-standard abilities above). They're reasonably well-balanced with flaws, but are making this a somewhat freakish party.

Parvati-female valenar elf bard.
Silvanesti-female half-elf druid.
Ironforge-male wolf animal companion.
Nakai-male elf soulblade.
Rose & Thorn-female dvati rogues.

All are 2nd level.

Forgotten Realms, made Diamond Lake a town east of Daggerford. Played once so far, party has managed to get through the Architect's Lair in WC.

Caellanna - Elven Ranger from Bronzewood
Veritek - Human Warlock, assistant to Allustan
Liam - Human Fighter, training to be a Paladin of Lathander
Matteo - Human Rogue, just wants out of Diamond Lake
?????? - Gnome Priest of Gond, in town to 'advise' Balabar Smenk (player missed first night)

Party make up, going into Three Faces of Evil. A very vanilla group, as I'm encouraging sticking close to the core rules.

Alessa Beck, female half-elven monk (3rd)
Aust, male half-elven druid with owl companion (2nd)
Oleander, wood elf ranger (3rd)
Padr Beck, male human rogue 1/diviner 2 (3rd)
Timtom, male tallfellow halfling sorcerer (3rd)
Vasel Sharn, male human cleric of Lydia (3rd)
Wyndham, male human paladin of Heironeous (3rd)

Timtom's familiar is a toad, Padr's is an owl. The druid is currently attempting to raise an owlbear cub.

In terms of background, the setting is the World of Greyhawk, year 596 (to keep in sync with Living Greyhawk). Many were from Diamond Lake itself. Aust is a druid of the Bronzeowood Lodge. Oleander worked under the elven mine manager (and has since quit). Padr is a local trouble maker who has been apprenticed to Allustan, Alessa is his half-sister, and a monk at the Twilight Monastery. Timtom was employed for a pittance at the Hungry Gar. Wyndham is from the Free City of Greyhawk, Vasel is a wandering cleric just arrived from the Duchy of Urnst.

We finally finished the epic campaign and kicked the Age of Worms into gear. The final party is as follows:

Kragg: male half-orc ranger 2 of Silvanus
Kel-drak: male lizardfolk druid 1 of Silvanus
Celendil Graycloak: male moon elf scout 2
Ike Bigguns: male human rogue1/fighter1

No arcane or religion knowledge. Lots of nature vs. industry in this campaign. I love it. I'm so happy to FINALLY be able to enjoy in this great campaign.

This is the party composition as of our communal spring break last month; we've been playing these characters since the middle of last summer, through to breaks from school when we can all get together.

Brother Seamus- LG Human Cleric of St. Cuthbert (level 7)- The creamy armored center of the party, with the diplomacy skills and spellcasting acumen combined with a pretty nice AC making a capable leader for a very strange troup.

"Moose"- CN Gnome Wizard (level 7)- Allustan's apprentice and Tidwoad's nephew. Moose has the lowest attributes of the party and spends most combats hiding in the rear. With the addition of phantasmal killer to his spellbook, however, he's becoming a force to be reconned with.

"Slim"- NG Human Ranger (level 7)- The cartographer's nephew from the barracks, is armed to the teeth with a +1 frost greataxe, composite longbow, cold iron longsword and +1 short sword, once he gets to A Gathering of Winds, he'll find something very nice in Icosiol's tomb. Currently infatuated with an obese half-orc prostitute named Darla (it's always the quiet ones).

"Bootleg"- NG Human Rogue [Yes, ROGUE, not ROUGE, I know that we can get touchy about this] (level 7)- The most recent addition to the party; found in the Doppleganger's lair in Hall of Harsh Reflections, not much is known about this dark clad fellow using an obviously fake name, but since half the party is using a fake name, he doesn't really stand out that much.

and finally

Keth- LN Half-Orc Fighter (Level 5)- Brother Seamus' bodyguard, a stoic and quiet half-orc warrior wielding a bastard sword with righteous fury. It's a good thing he's quiet because his intelligence and charisma are abysmal.

Hopefully we'll confront Zyrxog the next time we play, which should be a month or so from now.

My group JUST finished Whispering Cairn, and consists of:
A doppelganger (level 3), working to full 'ganger abilities.
A War Troll (Level 3), the brute worker, founded nickname of next char.
"Rat Thing" Dragonwrought Kobold Monk 2/Sorc 1 (I love being Crazy)
A Tibbet(were-cat, basically) Druid/Urban Druid (Cities+Trees=Good?)
A human spellthief 3, (if he ever really does anything except know stuff, the others will have a collective heart attack.)
Two chars want to join:
Half-Ogre Barbarian 1 (wants to become frenzied berserker)
Human Psion 3 (Am trying to sway to become unbodied instead to help 'the party's diversity')

Two games running in the same homebrew:

Manefred - LE - 10th level Human Necromancer
Battis - NE - 11th level Halfling Rogue
Grak - CE - 9th level Half-Orc Fighter

This group is heinously evil and incredible role-players. If you want to know the difference between Lawful Evil, Neutral Evil, and Chaotic Evil; sit down with these guys. This group may very well be what the Christian Right was afraid of back in the 80's. Thank God Grand Theft Auto took the heat off me.

They are usually accompanied by a skeletal retinue and a one armed flesh golem named Drom. The rogue and the fighter have both recently contracted Lycanthropy from a group of wererats. Normally PCs are anxious to get the curse lifted. These guys cant wait till the next full moon. Dont let them kill you or the wizard will disect you, gently repose a couple of your bits and pieces, and raise a skeleton from your bones.

Then there's my second group:

Rah - LG - 7th level Half-Orc Paladin
Melwen - CG - 7th level Half Elf Bard

Jeez. These two are total misfits who always inspire distrust at first sight and by the time they leave town have parades thrown in their honor. I was very skeptical of the idea of a half-orc paladin, but I am glad I went along with it. Nothing like having the deck stacked against you to make a good player rise to the occaision.
The bard is a half dark elf (not drow), an evil sylvan race in my homebrew.
Their appearance always make NPCs uneasy, but both of their best stats are Charisma. People love them.

Speaking as a DM, you couldn't wish to cover the bases more with a 2 person group then by having a paladin and bard tandem. It can be tricky to referee, but its a lot of fun writing for them.

I just realized that this was under the AoW heading.

Sorry.

Forget everything I just told you.

My group just finished the first adventure of AOW :

Elazul--> male elf fighter 2/ rogue 2, CG

Lauciam--> male elf cleric of Heironeous 4, LG (kinda obvious)

Ufgar--> male dwarf fighter 4, CN

Kenjin-->male human monk 4, LN

Yeah that's my group. Elazul and Lauciam are both competing for Tirra, the rogue Npc. Ufgar got a scar on his left eye while fighting Kullen, the 1/2 orc. ALL THE PLAYERS AGGREED in letting Filge help them, even after they found out that the necromancer was friend of Smenk and could not be trusted. I just hope they can realize his before it's too late...

Unfortunately, all the players live in Brazil, except me(the DM) and my brother (one of the players) that moved to U.S.A last year...The good thing about it was that i became a subscriber of Dungeon :) and got the chance of DMring the AOW campaign.

My party just finished defeating Filge and are going to be questioning him next game session.

Pug - Barbarian 1/Cleric 1 (Dwarf Pantheon)
Brennus - Druid 1/ Wizard 1
Gregory Goldlock - Paladin 2 of Heironeous
Damen Vass - Rogue 2

All but the Paladin will be level 3 starting next game but the Paladin missed part of the last session and thus didn't acquire as much XP.

Pretty interesting party but it will be interesting to see how the Barbarian/Cleric and Druid/Wizard characters handle being multiclassed in this AP.

Wowza, I guess I must have moved through this campaign pretty fast. Here my group is, about halfway through the desperate battle with Dragotha in "Into the Wormcrawl Fissure":

4th level ninja, 8th level favored soul, 10th level heartwarder female gloaming (that's right; 22nd level)

19th level wizard male gnome

20th level barbarian male human

2nd level demon lineage, 4th level wizard, 4th level cleric, 10th level warweaver male gnome

8th level paladin, 10th level vassal of Bahamut male aasimar

7th level paladin, 10th level divine crusader male human

Booyah.

Kyus "The Black Fang"; Male 1/2 black dragon Ranger. (Yes I laughed out loud when the player told me what his name was going to be.

Carceri; Female Thifling Rouge/Fighter

Fura; Female Cleric Minotar

Ingot; Female cleric/cook

Toumby; Male halfling spell theif

Heroki; The Male Wu Jen

Kregal; Male Half Orc Fighter
