Korvosa is cursed that none of its monarchs shall ever die of old age or produce an heir. The metropolis teeters on the edge of anarchy. It needs heroes that can face down crime lords, rioting mobs, insane cultists, virulent plague, undead hordes, scheming devils, corrupt nobles, barbarian chieftains, and ancient and forgotten evils that seek to dominate and sacrifice the city.
This expansion to the popular cooperative Pathfinder Adventure Card Game pits 1 to 6 players against monsters, perils, and traps as you save the city of Korvosa from threats both ancient and new. Choose your character; build a deck of unique equipment, magic, and allies; and explore lethal locations as you journey through an exciting fantasy tale. As your adventures continue, your characters will add remarkable gear and breathtaking magic to their decks as they gain incredible powers, all of which they'll need to challenge more and more powerful threats.
This set includes the storybook and cards for the Curse of the Crimson Throne Adventure Path. It requires the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Core Set and expands the maximum number of players to 6 for that set. You can supplement your experience with Character Decks, the Pathfinder Adventure Card Society, and Pathfinder Adventure Card Game accessories (available separately).
The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Curse of the Crimson Throne Adventure Path includes:
550 cards featuring a wide array of powerful weapons, magical spells, protective armors, versatile items, helpful allies, harrowing blessings, devoted supporters, and a base to help you face a host of vicious monsters, dangerous barriers, vile scourges, and perilous wildcards
4 character pawns representing Hakon the skald, Kess the brawler, Quinn the investigator, and Varian the wizard
1 48-page storybook featuring all 6 chapters of The Curse of the Crimson Throne Adventure Path
I can confirm that Ezren is in the Core set, and it is Varian Jeggare, who is a very different kind of Wizard, and also a graduate of Korvosa's Acadamae.
Is this the first instance of a character being introduced in an Adventure Path after they were used in a class/character deck?
Yes.
For those who don't know, Varian was introduced as a cohort in the organized play Adventure Path Season of the Righteousbefore he was introduced in the Pathfinder Tales Character Deck. Radovan has actually completed the circuit from cohort to character and back to cohort.
Nice! Looking forward to playing as Quinn (and would love to see a investigator deck with other investigator builds).
So are pawns a new thing, or is that the term that is used to describe the existing character cards that are just an image with flavour text on the back?
Standee pawns would be useful, and I know that many players have developed their own for use with PACG.
The existing characters from previous releases will all work with the new stuff? Will there be a conversion guide for the old terminology and text?
Thnaks!

It's the intention that the old stuff will work with the new stuff. I think they announced that the Core rulebook will have some conversion guide in it.

The mention of "Core Rulebook" made me think it was for 2e.
Oh, I wasn't thinking about that. Sorry if anyone got things in a mix :) But since this was a question about the adventure path box, I thought it was nice to refer to the core box rules. :)
Edit:
The mention that there will be brief conversion notes in the rulebook in this blog post.
Could we get some idea of the mechanics in this? Maybe not specific but general?
For example
Skull and Shackles: Ships, Plunder, Survival.
Mummy's Mask: Traders, Triggers, Curses.
Curse of the Crimson Throne: ???
Since Curse is in the title and plague is mentioned in the description I'm guessing scourges.
And the description focuses more on the types of NPCs then monsters so I'm guessing the Diplomacy skill will come up a lot.
So looking to the future do we know how often these are going to come out, like if we subscribe? So we've got the Core and 1st AP here in May, when does the next AP release, or is that unknown?
Can this be purchased at PaizoCon? Or ordered for pickup and PaizoCon? If so what are the box dimensions? Are the Dragon's demand box dimensions different?

If it helps, I have ordered both the base set and CofCT sets. Should be here tomorrow or Tuesday from what I've been told. I'm happy to play through them with you. ;)
Also, I believe our LGS, Strange Ideas, has some coming in (which is where I have ordered them through).

Perfect, when I went to Strange Ideas they didn't know if they had it ordered...
There are two of us that have been playing a lot of Pathfinder Cards, we would be excited to join for a few games. I'll message.

In case it helps with the debugging, it might be keeping orders in limbo. I posted over in Customer Service Monday 2/24 about orders 13250847 (which shows a little picture of this product in my order history) and order 15119547 (which does not, but does have the Core ACG set and my other subscription items).
I just purchased this (new in shrink) along with Pathfinder: Rise of the Runelords. (Too cheap to pass up)
Is it possible to run this expansion with the Rise of the Runelords base game? (maybe with a little adaptation) Or do I have to purchase the Pathfinder Core Game, as the rules/situation has changed too much.
