So I preordered everything. Do I just "order" these and my preorders will be subsumed by my subscriptions?
In the product description:
When you start an ongoing subscription, any existing preorders for products covered by that subscription are automatically cancelled (or have their quantity reduced by one if you've preordered more than one of an item).

I have set up a subscription for the Starfinder AP, but the first adventure that I preordered is still showing in my sidecart as pending still. Shouldn't that have been cancelled off my total order when I set up the subscription? or am I missing something?
Hi Destrumar,
Thanks for letting us know. It looks like yours need a little extra attention. It has been fixed and should look better now.
If anyone else is noticing similar issues, please send customer service an email at customer.service@paizo.com. Thanks!

Thank you so much for the help, I was certain it would be an easy fix once I was able to let somebody know, but I often can't remember where I am supposed to send that kind of thing.

Hello, quick update. PZO7201 Incident at Absalom Station (Dead Suns 1 of 6) is going to be moving from Preorder to Backorder.
If you subscribe to the Starfinder Adventure Path before Dead Suns #2 subscription order creation date, Estimated Sept, 28th, and you would like to receive Dead Suns #1 as part of your subscription, you can email customer service and we will add a backordered subscription copy to ship with the first subscription shipment after the product is available.
Realistically, this means that if you choose to subscribe with #2 and get a backordered copy of #1, your copy of #1 may not end up shipping for several months.
Because the free subscription PDF is tied to your subscription product fulfilled in our system, this means you would also not get your free PDF right away.
If you choose to purchase the PDF of #1 when it releases for sale on or after August 17th, you may request a refund in store credit when your backordered physical copy has been processed for shipping.*
*This refund is only available to be processed as store credit, for individuals who:
- subscribe to the Starfinder Adventure Path line beginning with AP#2
- opt in (by contacting customer service) to waiting for a backordered subscription copy of SF AP #1 before Sept 28th, 2017
- have purchased a PDF version of SF AP#1
- contact us to request a refund at or after their order containing AP#1 is processed for shipping.
If you have any questions, just ask: customer.service@paizo.com, 425-250-0800, Customer Service Forum.

Can I subscribe now (starting with #2) then wait till after Gencon to make the backorder request? I'd try to get my hands on a copy of #1 there.

Yes. Opt in (by contacting customer service) a backordered subscription copy of SF AP #1 before Sept 28th, 2017.

If I opt in to a backordered subscription copy of SF AP #1 before that date, will I also get the free PDF (when the physical copy ships sometime in year X)? Or will the backordered subscription copy of #1 be just the physical one?
You get the free PDF when it ships. If you have opted to purchase the PDF yourself before that point, you can get the price of the PDF refunded as store credit. You need to contact Customer Service to get them to set up #1 as a subscription copy; simply placing a backorder on the product page will not get you a free PDF, nor will it make you eligible for the store credit should you decide to purchase the PDF separately.

I don't want any extra complications of separately purchasing the PDF and then getting it refunded. I just want to sub to #1 and then have the PDF unlocked when it eventually ships, whenever that is.
Then you just need to start your sub with #2 then contact Customer Service before September 28, 2017 to add in a backordered copy of #1. When #1 ships, your free PDF will be granted.

Yes, if you start with #2 and ask us to add a backordered #1, then when #1 ships, it will grant you a PDF.

Wait...so is it now impossible to simply subscribe and start with issue #1? That seems...very odd. I get that they're out of the first print run, but why not just let people opt start with #1 with the understanding they'll get it from the second print run. Why on earth would you go out of your way to generate e-mails to customer service? :P

It may take a few months for them to get a 2nd print.

Given that they print in China, I think that's almost a guarantee!
On the other hand, it's a good sign that they sold out the first printing.

I'm assuming it's because that's how their system worked by default. I wouldn't be surprised if their coders are at work right now trying to implement something like your suggestion.
Probably; that actually hadn't occurred to me. I don't know that they've even run out of a subscription item before it shipped before.

skizzerz |

There should be stock at Gen Con, and if it doesn't sell out there then there will be additional copies at paizo.com (I think it likely that they will sell out at Gen Con as well, however). Additionally, they are probably holding onto a little bit of stock in case packages get damaged/lost so they can send out replacements. After enough time passes, that stock will become available again as well.
Otherwise, the distributors each got their own shipments, so you should be able to still find this in bookstores and FLGSes for a time.
So, not completely sold out yet, but yes, this bodes well for future expansion of Starfinder.
@Medriev, AP 1 is on backorder right now. You can start a subscription with AP 2 and then contact Customer Service to add a backordered AP 1 onto your subscription (so you still get the free PDF when it ships a couple of months from now). See Sara Marie's post earlier in this very thread for details.

I don't plan on starting the path with my players until I've been able to read the first 2-3 parts (for me, that helps in better laying out subplots, foreshadowing, etc.). I'm hoping to adapt some of the Starfinder Society scenarios to fill in the void as well (and maybe some homebrew stuff).

With APs #1 & #2 being instant sellouts BEFORE streetdate, i really hope i'll get a 1st printing copy of the later parts, as the print run for the early issues is normally considerably higher than for the middle and later parts.
I guess it's too late to increase the initial print run numbers for #3 & #4, but what about #5 & #6?
I guess final print run numbers changes will only be made from AP #7 onwards, when sales data have been analyzed, but who knows?

As of late August 2019, the two options for starting the subscription are either both AP #18 and #19 (the last book of Dawn of Flame and the first book of Attack of the Swarm), or AP #20 (the second book of Attack of the Swarm). I don't really want the last book of dawn of flame without owning the previous five, but I would like the first book of Attack of the Swarm. Is there any way to start with just AP #19, the first book of Attack of the Swarm without also purchasing AP #18?
I can't find an option to select a subscription starting with #19 for whatever reason.

Might want to just email customer service directly. They've taken care of little glitchy things like this for me before really quickly that way (and by emailing them it goes into a queue, whereas in a thread like this it's waiting for staff to happen to be in here and see it)

Should I be planning on canceling my subscription between April and July? It does not seem worthwhile to keep up the subscription if it is going into reruns at that point. Or was there a mistake in making Scoured Stars part of the subscription and not an extra like the classic maps in that line?

This is not a compilation of previous AP volumes but rather an AP built from the base of Society scenarios. While I have all the scenarios, I am happy to also receive this AP and look forward to seeing how they pulled it all together into a cohesive whole.

Ah, that's right. I don't know how I mixed up Scoured Stars with Dead Suns. Thanks for the correction.

Hello Starfinder community! (I've been away for a while and I'm happy to say I'm back and starting my subscriptions again). With the announcement of Starfinder 2e I'm eager to get back into the SF setting (but will likely wait until 2e launches) however having said that, that Drift Crisis stuff looks intriguing. It also seems like the SF APs have ... halted (perhaps until 2e arrives)? (I'm sorry I missed "Drift Crisis" when it started and I'm really considering getting the AP chapters for Drift Crashers and Drift Hackers) ... as I understand (though perhaps incorrectly) that a major shake-up happens in those adventures. (And I'd just like to have that information handy).
So, would it be worthwhile to resubscribe to Starfinder (rulebooks and APs) now? Or would it smarter to wait?
Regards,
The_Minstrel_Wyrm
