There are two more APs coming for SF 1E next year, both in hardback format: Scoured Stars and Mechageddon!. Then the 1E line is over.
If you want those APs, it's good to subscribe.
Might also note that being subscribed to a largely inactive product line still counts as a subscription for benefits like Paizo Advantage, until they flip it off.

That’s a good point John, thank you. (Scoured Stars did sound interesting as well). I’ll see if the finances can support it.

Last announcement I saw was that the APs (now published as single volumes) and standalone adventures would be rolled into a single Starfinder Adventures subscription, which would reportedly consist of 2 to 4 releases per year.
I’m definitely okay with that. I’d rather pay shipping for a few bigger releases each year rather than repeatedly pay shipping for a bunch of small ones.

With the bi-monthly AP schedule while those were being published, we were getting 1 AP and like... 2 stand-alone adventures?... a year.
That's a pretty solid schedule for adventures, at least for my table [we finished 2 6 book APs in ~42 months...]

Since there's been more special edition adventure paths lately and the rulebooks just received a special edition subscription option, has there been any thought of adding a special edition Starfinder adventure path subscription?

When should I be concerned about my order remaining in a "side cart"? The product (murder in metal city) shows that it's now available, and I placed my subscription order before it was available (July 24th), but it hasn't shown any movement. Just wondering when I should reach out to customer service about it.

I would reach out to Customer Service now. You missed July's subscription shipping window (if you subscribed on the 24th), so by default it would wait until August's subscription shipping window. If you wanted it to ship ASAP, then reaching out to CS now is a good idea.
