Do I have a problem if I read through book same day I get it(at evening) and spend most of next morning reading it again in more detail? I kinda feel like I should be doing school work or something but nope just reading it through again :D
(man, education would be easy if I would do my studies with same intensity I do with roleplaying books xD)

Could be worse, I had to work right after I got it then had to go on a field trip, work again and then go on another field trip. So it was two and a half days before I was able to really sit down with it. Towards the end I swear it was laughing at me. :-)
Captain Yesterday fun fact: this is one of two times I beat Skeld in order generation. :-)

What I was enjoying were the subtle changes to the plot lines. Speaking of a spoiler...

I live in Canada and after crunching the numbers of getting it from Paizo or Indigo Books the choice was obvious. Paizo was going to cost me ballpark $105 Canadian. Indigo with free shipping is $72.84. No brainier for me. I wish I could order everything from Paizo, but the reality is, it does not always make economical sense. Indigo is expecting to have it delivered by October 18 so I am good with that. Not likely running it until the new year anyway, have to finish Emerald Spire first. Now for the Eternal Question: Do I buy it on Amazon for $50 and free shipping, or buy it from Paizo for $60 and another $12 shipping. Hey, not trying to be disloyal or anything, but $22 bucks is $22 bucks. So the question is whether the PDF is worth $22 when you already own a hardcover.
Plus Amazon will likely have it closer to $40 by the release date. And cheaper still at Amazon.ca at $68.68 with free shipping. Which I expect you knew and you prefer to shop at Indigo for some reason (which has it at $69.37); however Indigo.ca also offers Plum points if you are a part of that loyalty program, so there is that.
Has anyone in Canada received their HC from Indigo or Amazon.ca? Both sites say pre-order only and Indigo says it won't be available until January.

Don't know for Amazon or Indido, but my local store had it on the release day and still have some.

I my reading this is a wonderful book. I have many positive things to say which can wait for my review. I especially love that the page background is white instead of the dark texture in the Rise of the Rune Lords hardbody which makes the Runelord book difficult to read at the bottom of the pages.
So far, my only complaint is about my favorite NPC, Sial. First, making him a summoner with an eidolon doesn't fit right. In my opinion, summoning is a means to an end for him, trapping other characters into deals which furthers the goals of the Brotherhood of bones. That he would put up with an eidolon following him along, impacting him image, doesn't ring true. Second, he is too overweight in his picture. Sail has much too much control over his personal appearance to let that happen.

Marv,
I can't speak to the first critique as I'm honestly okay with him doing summoner (though he does lose out on healing spells. Not that he ever did use them...) but I think the second critique was probably some artist mistake rather than anything intentional.
I mean look at Lamm! He got a nice makeover! :) Same with Rolth.

So I'm still waiting for mine to ship. Apparently there's been some issue. For those who have it, I remember that in 3.5 they had a little system with Harrow Points and bonus depending on which card you drew at the start of the adventure. Is it still like that? Is it a new system?
Same basic system, only upgraded slightly to make it Pathfinder-compatible. ^_^

Coming back to this thread a little late, but yes, I got mine over a week ago from Indigo.

Something I've been curious about that maybe one of you can answer for me, when the product summary says the Path has been changed so that PCs don't leave the city, what does that mean for History of Ash and Scarwall? Do those volumes now take place, somehow, within Korvosa?
No, you still leave, where did you read that you don't?

Fletch |

-where did you read that you don't?
I...don't know.
I'd seen some product announcement or description that said something about fixing the problem for players who didn't like leaving the city. I'd thought it meant they'd changed it to not leave the city, but now I can't find the original article.
I must've dreamed it.

Oh, that, no I don't think you completely dreamed it as you can (I believe, not certain though) return to the city inbetween doing those other parts

If I remember correctly this was about fixing/cutting the Shoanti stuff from 3.5 version.
Ruyan.

Thomas Seitz |

RuyanVe,
You still have the Shoanti trials, just now it's less important to do them in order IF your players decide to do some other more remarkable feats. (Like say go fight a mature adult red dragon at 9th level.)
Fletch,
The part mentioned was just a way to expand on one aspect that was glossed over in both Book 6 and also connect back to the city IF your players wanted to do that. They also offered suggestions for shortening Scarwall if your players don't much care for the grind of the castle.

I have not had time to read through my book yet. I am looking forward to it. Overall I really like the presentation and I am really looking forward to seeing how close the official PF conversion is to my own a while back.
The first thing I thought when I opened and started turning pages was,"Oh they changed the art!" I am still on the fence on that one. I do like the new art, but I also loved a lot of the old art and some of it is not superior. This does have a better unified look.
However, the big thing was my second nearly simultaneous thought, "Oh wow these pages feel really flimsy and cheap." They feel less sturdy than my original adventure path modules. I worry using this book for running an adventure would tear it up. They don't seem much lighter than the other hardcovers but maybe the less glossy affects them.
It definitely made me wish I had clicked submit 1 day earlier on that collector edition in my cart, thinking those pages are better.
For future hardcover APs, I recommend making the pages heavier weight and the higher gloss.

It was changed so that they come back to Korvosa at the end of History of Ashes, just before Scarwall.
And yes, it could use some more changes :)
Of all of Paizo's APs, this one seems the one that most GMs tinker with. In a real sense, that's testimony to the richness of the Korvosa setting. There are so many corners to shine a new light upon.

Finally! A Red Mantis Assassin that's wearing a helmet, instead of having an actual mantis head. :-)
Very nice!
Glad I'm not the only one who thought this art was fantastic. Very interesting twist on the normal RMA.

Got my limited edition copy the week before christmas - in the german translation. The guys at Ulisses Spiele do a great job. They went the extra mile and produced 150 Limited Edition copies. The price tag was steep at 80 Euro, but it is a great book. All of sudden, I want to start a new campaign...
