If you are a Golarion-fiend like me, you need this product

5/5

This deck isn't just useful for all of the colorful divination. This deck is also useful for Golarion's card games such as "Illusionist" and "Last Azlant", found in the Harrow Handbook, which is an "unnecessary must" for this product. Furthermore, you can use them as ideas for voices, settings, plots, and more on the fly.

I don't have any valid criticisms for this product. The shipping time was extremely reasonable.

Be prepared to take another step into the pool of Golarion Lore.

The Exchange

I'd have liked a different art for the cards themselves. I don't have anything against Kyle Hunter art but the almost comical style ruins my group inmersion every time a Harrow card hits the table. Glad with the new backs and size though.

How was the order of the suits on the back of the cards determined?

Chr->Str->Wis->Dex->Con->Int doesn't seem to be a particular pattern.

There's a sort of thematic sense to it.

Crown on the top - rulership. At left and right hands, strength of arms and strength of magic. Beneath the shields of foot soldiers and the faith of the common people. And at the bottom of society, the roguish Key.

So anyone have suggestions about what kind of box I should get to put these in?

Since they're not a standard card size, finding a box will be tricky. If you do a search for "tarot card box" on the internet, you should find something that will work. (We don't have anything like that on Paizo.com, unfortunately.) Whatever method you choose, you'll need a box with interior dimensions of 1" deep, 2 3/4" wide, and 4 1/2" long (with a little bit of wiggle room) to fit everything that's in the Deluxe Harrow Deck.

I found a bunch of really cool Tarot deck cases made of leather on Etsy, I haven't vetted the size as they were in metric, and I can't convert on the fly.

Webstore Gninja Minion

You can do conversions with Google search—just type in "1 inch to mm". So, 26 mm deep, 70 mm wide, and 115 mm long (rounding up). :)

The deck and the rulebook. That's what I meant. :)

fair enough, rulebooks are always appreciated.

Speaking of rulebooks, I was looking mine over this morning. It would be really nice if we could get a pdf of the rulebook. I'm planning to hold onto mine, but just in case, it would be nice to have a digital backup.

Are there any plans to make a pdf of the rulebook available?

Edit:I should have looked before I answered. The rulebook and the extra chronicle cards are available here.

Actually, the PDF of the rulebook is BETTER than what's in the package. It also contains the rules for Towers, which is not in the rulebook that came with this set of cards.

I take that back. It's interesting, both are 32 pages, but they are not the same. I'm glad I have both.

Which is good, because I absolutely loathed the back of the original set and never would have bought it if I'd seen it.

I never saw it answered above, but how will the symbols for true neutral be shown? They don't seem to have a place for the symbol...

True neutral doesn't have a highlighted alignment symbol. All the other alignments do. So for TN you just look for a lack of any other alignment.

That is... a bit odd, but works I guess.

Having looked at the card faces, it actually works quite well, I thought.

I cannot find the PDF of the rules for this as mentioned by Itchy. I don't know if the fact that I bought my cards from a store and not the website matters or not. Bottom line is I would like to find the PDF rules if they are available. Itchy's link just takes me to the Pathfinder Cards page

Once you're on that page, click the "unavailable" tab - the downloads are listed under the original Harrow Deck entry.

You sir, are awesome. Thanks!

little long, but the release of the new cards makes em want to share my work in a completely related discussion. The lost suit:

I will have to remake my home-made lost 7th suit for the deluxe edition.
(which is mentioned in the book that pairs with these cards and has harrow-related traits for all classes)

anyway, enough raving about the products. I created my own 7th suit cards and the first draft is as such: (based off the old 7th statistic from @nd Edition) Commliness. beauty, ugliness and first-glance reactions

my first run of the lost suit (my first edit will change as i learn more about Kyle's design intentions, short stories [that he wrote for each card] and feedback from my players over the last year)

LG the Grove (untouched wilderness and place of rest) [was the heart warden, but thats from a different game world]
LN the wizened crone (youthful beauty lost but gained wisdom)
LE the Eye Tyrant (the beholder, perception can be misleading)
NG the Canvas (blank and full of potential) [was the artist, same meaning]
N the mirror (i drew the mirro of erised, what you want is either good or bad for you)
NE The siron song (temptation lulling you to disaster)
CG the kiss (and elven man kissing a maiden, the kiss is brief but could be remembered for a long time)
CN the minstrel (a satyr, capricious or kind)
CE the seductress (a succubus, too similar to the siren song, one of them is getting cut in the future)

bear with me this is not for people to deconstruct and tear this apart, what ideas do you have? changes your own take? (instead of criticism: more cards!). i intend to start a discussion about the lost suit, and my idea so far. for the old cards i got card protectors so when my lost suit came up it was hard to see until flipped over. with the new tarot-like cards im going to have to make the lost suit more carefully for it to fit

I looked there, and didn't see either a pdf of the harrow deck rules, or extra chronicle cards. So that makes two questions: what's a chronicle card, and is there really a pdf of the harrow deck rules, or did I misread something?

Edit: just saw the post two up from this one. I'll go look again.
Edit2: Found 'em, but it took a while. Didn't see any "unavailable" tabs. The old Harrow deck is under Pathfinder®/Pathfinder Campaign Setting/3.5/ and the "Backorder" tab.

Can anyone suggest a card sleeve for these cards?

Kalraan wrote:

Fantasy Flight Games makes a Tarot Sized card sleeve that matches the dimensions that Liz gives in a post further up. Please note, I have not bought or tried these out. Also, one package is 50 sleeves, so I hope you can find a place that will also sell you some individual ones!

Please let us know what you find and if it works!

Now that PaizoCon and GenCon are over, I thought it would be an appropriate time to poke this topic. I'd love to get a pdf copy of the updated rulebook!

I found an inexpensive storage option for my Harrow Deck. In the office supply section at my local CVS, I found a soft plastic case for carrying 3X5 notecards. It holds the deck, and all the extra cards and the rulebook nicely.

I'm not sure if it will hold the whole deck with the cards sleeved. I have not bought sleeves for my Harrow Deck yet.

The art ruins this for me.

What? The art is the best part of it.

Did you ever get sleeves for your Deluxe Harrow Deck? If so, what did you get and how did they fit? I'm just curious for input before I buy some.

Will we see any expansions? Maybe the Lost Cards? I'd buy those!

I found a box at Hobby Lobby that works pretty well. Such a nice deck. Big improvement over the original.

Anybody knows what is "By Kyle Hunter Pathfinder Campaign Cards: Deluxe Harrow Deck (Brdgm)" you can find on amazon? It stated as Paizo Publishing, LLC, but has no ISBN and I cant find it here, so it's a little fishy. And it's labeled "110 cards", there is no such thing as 110 card harrow deck, even with known lost cards.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

That's a messed-up listing for this product that uses an old mockup image. I'll see if we can get it fixed.

So is the old deck still PFS legal? I do want this one, just not sure when I'll be able to afford it.

Either of the two Harrow decks is legal for Pathfinder Society Organized Play purposes.

So, My wife and I just started playing around with Tarot cards, and she REALLY wants to make a character that focuses on those cards heavily.

I've been trying to find some archetypes with witch's and oracles and they come close but not quite hitting the spot. She's very attached to her deck specifically, so I'm wondering if there is any way to translate or implement them (Tarot Cards) in place of what the Harrow deck idea is offering? I've been thinking about home brewing some concepts for her, but I don't have a team to game test for balancing. Any pointers?

Lantern Lodge RPG Superstar 2014 Top 4

Hi Matt! You're in luck!

There's a witch archetype called cartomancer in the Harrow Handbook (also available in the d20pfsrd at the following link: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/witch/archetypes/paizo---witch -archetypes/cartomancer-witch-archetype) as well as the Harrower prestige class (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/e-h/harrower) .

As for replacing the Harrow with a Tarot deck, that's possible but may not line up properly. The Harrow deck has six "suits" (keys, tome, crown, etc) that align to the six ability scores. Each archetype and prestige class often gains powers based on drawing cards of these suits. The tarot (assuming an occult Rider-Waite style deck) only has four suits (staves, pentacles, cups, and swords.) The Harrow is like a blend of the major and mi or arcana of the Tarot, so there's not a lot of great balance between the two.

I'm sure there may be a community member who has done more work on this, but I wasn't able to find anything on a quick search. I hope this has been of some help!

So, I recently purchased a "Paizo Publishing 3042 Pathfinder Cards - Deluxe Harrow Deck" from a seller at amazon. The picture of the package is full color artwork of the sorceress throwing magic around, and the package reads: Contains 110 Cards. I can't find this anywhere on the Paizo site, and when I received the deck, it was the same dun colored package with 54 cards in it. Has anyone seen this 110 card box anywhere?

Thanks!

K

Hey Fokodan,
I just ordered a similar deck with 110 cards, and when I received it, it was the same 54 card deck as always. Have you learned anything new?

Thanks,

K

There is no 110-card Harrow deck. You'll note that the listing you mentioned two posts up has the number "3042" in the title—and if you scroll up to the product listing on this page, in between "Product Availability" and "See Also," you'll see that the product number for this product is PZO3042. So that's just a bad listing for this product on Amazon.

We have tried in the past to get Amazon to correct inaccurate listings on our products put up by their third-party sellers—or better yet, connect them to the proper listing—but they refuse to do so. (Amazon currently has *four* separate listings for the Deluxe Harrow Deck; two of them use the mockup image we made before the product was completed.)

I recently got the new Deluxe Harrow Deck. After doing very minimal research on sleeves, I chose the Fantasy Flight Tarot Sleeves. They are good quality archival sleeves, very clear and also appear to be relatively durable vs. others (decent gauge material).

The sleeves are 70mm x 120mm and fit the deluxe harrow cards perfectly (as expected).

Once the cards come out of the box, they probably won't be going back in. And, with all the cards sleeved, the deck thickness increases to just about 1.5" thick, or 35-40mm. So, try to plan for storage accordingly.

It would be great if Paizo made an appropriately-styled harrow deck box that could accommodate a sleeved harot deck + extra cards and rules (70mm x 120mm x 45mm, perhaps).

I got my sleeves at a local game store. They come in packs of 50 (unfortunately), so you will need to get 2 packs. At the game store, the Fantasy Flight sleeves were $4.99 each (50 pk). There were cheaper sleeves and also one brand that was slightly bigger at 72mm. However, I am very happy with the FF sleeves and my choice.

In terms of containers, I got an inexpensive, ~5"x7" drawstring pouch. The sleeved stack of cards fits comfortably, but, for the long term, I would rather have a box for added card protection (and may make one or look for a wooden jewelry box).

I've recently got the Deluxe Deck and well as the Harrow Handbook. Great addition to my game and I can see myself using it a lot in different way: Harrow ready, card games, magical deck, etc.

Now I'm curious if you have even considered doing a Harrow Deck Supplement "The Lost Harrow cards" where the 5 cards mentionned in Harrow Handbook (The Great Dreamer, The Prince of Wolves, The Solstice, the Winding Way, The Yellow prophet) and more could be added...even if it were to be 10-20 extra cards (may 2 or 3 new cards per suits), that could really help a GM to spice up his Game.

Just a thought. Even with the hint of those lost cards, The Deck is great in and by itself.
