If there came an Devils Revisited book from Paizo, which devils would everybody like to see in there?
I would love to see:
1: Erinyes (just love these fallen angels)
2: Gelugon (cool appearance and I love ice monsters)
3: Zebub (The little anti-cupid in appearance, love the appearance reminds me of the game Doom which has enemies that look like these.)
4: Gylou (The living cage, really love their appearance and behavior.)
5: Immolation Devil/Puragaus (My favorite high-level devil, its really low on info, so I want to learn more)
6: Bdellavritra (The horror! Just awesome! While a new devil this one is already one of my top favorites)
7: Barbazu (Love the beards, love the D&D snake beard even more, but the hooks will do too)
8: Hamatula (One of my favorite devils, love the wolverine claws in the artwork.)
9: Osyluth (I really didn't like this devil that much until I read about its Mythic counterpart that can make your bones move.)
10: Cornugon (because I really want to like this creature, but its still so generic to me... nothing special, so I hope to see something unique coming out of the Cornugon in Devils Revisited.)I never cared for Pit Fiends, never will but i'm 100% positive one of these spots is for the Pit Fiend...
I rather see Puragaus in there, want to learn more about those. I hope an updated Puragaus would have the ability to make itself explode into a huge fiery explosion, doing little damage to itself but huge damage to the surroundings.
Yeah dude, Pit Fiends are a must. I don't see how you could do a book titled Devils Revisited and not include those badasses.

Gancanagh |

Lol, everything other people find a must i'm mostly not a huge fan off.
Balors on the other hand are extremly cool in my eyes, one of the more awesome of demons, Pit Fiends never did that for me, I don't like their names, don't like their generic appearance and I don't like their abilities.
But I understand they NEED to be in this one, in my personal taste however I wouldn't care if they were left out and I rather see a Zebub in there :p

One thing I don't like about the summoning rituals is how phenomenally difficult gathering ingredients for some of them is. Hands of six different generals who are still living and commanding "significant" armies? How many times in a generation is it possible to planar ally/bind with a marilith, globally? How many one- or no-handed generals are out there looking for revenge on all demon-binders?

Well... it's supposed to be difficult to conjure those higher CR demons, first of all. A marilith is among the most powerful of demons, and her conjuring should be subsequently difficult. Gathering 6 hands is tough, but if you're capable of summoning CR 17 creatures with your magic, you've got options. (NOTE: One of the implications here is that you hack the hands of another marilith to summon one...)
Anyway, if there's going to be a LOT of marilith conjuration in your game, you might want to either incorporate more one-handed generals into your game or change the flavor text a bit.

I think you are forgetting a few
1. Pit Fiend
2. Contract devil
3. Erinyes (hopefully with some talk of the whore queens)
4. Barbed Devil
5. Hamatula
6. Osyluth
7. Demivagga (if you don't know this one look it up, he is awesome)
8. Handmaiden Devil
9. Imp (if for no other reason then he is literally the ground force for the vast majority of devil corruption for most people)
10. Cornugon
That list right there would be crazy awesome, especially the Contract Devil and Demivagga which I feel like could really put into perspective the grand soul collection game the devils are playing.

Also I am only about 2/3rds of the way through this book but I have to give a slow clap to you Mr. Jacobs for Ilzunae. She is probably the nastiest "Iconic" monster I've seen thus far in the revisited line and I am both excited and terrified by the prospect of seeing her at a table. She literally deserves a whole arch or ap built around her to make her work thematically but if done right you have THE final boss for it. By the end no one wouldn't want her dead.
I'm honestly surprised Mikaze hasn't mentioned how crazy the gloom widow is yet.

Flamefests?
Also is the ":) :(" your before and after I take it?
Gonna have to check out this Gloom Widow ASAP. :)

Indeed. Her particular brand of protracted Machiavellian sadism is... I mean, I know she’s a demon and everything, but even for the Abyss, that’s just wrongsick. If there’s ever a vote on “which fiend most needs a demonbane ghost-touch holy greataxe to the face?”, she’s making the Top #5 for certain, and she’s got a good shot at the outright win.

Icyshadow |

Yeah... turns out, demons are bad news. I personally like the Glabrezu image the best... it's kinda subtle but once you realize what's going on... it's super depressing and hard core.
That only made me think of two things.
1) Would this death be canon?
2) Does Lini have a scroll of Raise Animal Companion handy by chance?
I'd assume she is in a high level if she would be fighting a Glabrezu, after all.

I didn't forget about Imps, they are just like Quasits and I think they shouldn't be in a Devíl's revisited but in another revisited maybe, of all devils imps can be in most other books too. And I know everything about them already.
I can't find anything about the Demivagga, Google is letting me down for once...
I HATE Contract Devils, don't like their appearance and their politics contract thingy they have going on. I hope to see an evil Leprechaun creature one day in pathfinder that has the Contract stuff going on.
I already told what I think about the Pit Fiend and I've read a million times about their backgrounds already, I wanna learn about Immolation devils more cuz they are kinda short on info, something the Pit Fiend and Imp are not.

Sorry it's Deimavigga, if you have book of the damned pt. 1 it's in there.
As for Imp, I think it could make a good argument. Unlike the quasit the imp is the primary work horse in the devils bid to corrupt the soul, they are the first devil that you will usually have working for you and most often your go between to get the stuff you need from your dark lord. The quasit on the other hand is at best a very personal creature that has more in common with the creature who spawned it from their soul rather then as an active preexisting agent of the abyss.
As for contract devils I think we will just have to disagree. I really love them as the take on the great tempter that the devils absolutely should have especially considering the devils primary goals. I know I've always hated how focused the devils are on tempting and collecting mortal souls and yet they really lack a true tempter amongst the bunch and how the contract devil so nicely fits that role in a way that makes perfect sense to the devil ideology.

Actually in my view of the 'revisited' series, Sincubus, a Pit Fiend should be a natural entry for you.
Part of the fun of Revisited for me is the "huh, I never thought of that. I get from them." So if the Pit Fiend is a 'meh' monster, making a revisited entry that makes you look at them again is a plus.
Different strokes

Well, all a planar binding spell requires is a creature type, a name if you have one, and then sometimes repeated castings because your target has SR and gets a saving throw.
I'd give a caster that jumps through all of the specific hoops for a creature type to automatically succeed on pulling in a generic member of that creature; similar result if they jump through all the hoops to pull in a specific creature.
Also, providing the acceptable sacrifice should give a significant bonus on the negotiation, which requires opposed Charisma checks. Most wizards will be facing an uphill battle there, so getting a bonus is a pretty big deal.
Gate and Planar Ally are a little different, but IIRC the Demons Revisted assigns a cash value to meeting the specific preference to bringing in a demon.

1) None of the iconic illustrations are canon. They present an infinite number of possibilities for the iconics, not things that have automatically actually happened.
2) Nope. That's why she's crying.

I like your way of thinking.
The problem with Pit Fiends (for me personally) is their rather bland appearance so that I really won't like them even if they get the best fluff ever, so they must change the appearance first before they even had a chance... (which is impossible and stupid because 99% of the people on this planet probably adore its current looks.)
Also I don't like it that both upper level demons and devils are both big red winged things, I like the Balor much better so I never use the Pit Fiend, I want another high end CR20 devil to take its place.

Just read the Gloom Widow.
So yeah, she needs her ass kicked quite a bit. D:<
If anyone's looking for a villain to put Shelyn/Arshea/Lymnieris worshippers in a red-eyed rage, she's a contender.
Also, big fan of the Cloven Sister. That kind of body horror is the sort of thing I expect from demons and the Abyss. Souls and bodies torn and crushed and mixed together into insane amalgamations, losing themselves in the chaos of it all and being twisted into new unholy forms of life.
actually have a lot of thoughts on pit fiend appearance and expectations, but that's a derail for another thread

So just finished this one man and I have to say wait till you get to the vrock. Not as She gotta die as the Gloom Widow but quite possibly way more story telling potential and scope in the right game.
Also I really liked the Nalfeshne entries. Happy to see the qilppoth get slipped into here somewhere.

I just want to throw this in there as well. If we're doing a variants half-fiend for devils and daemons, just like there was for demons, then we HAVE to do one on half-DRAGONS as well. Come on, one half-breed template for all those metallic and chromatic dragons in the world? That's not even remotely fair. They should get something.

![]() |

Question about Mangvhune on pg8. He is wearing a +2 black dragonhide breastplate but he doesn't have medium armor proficiency. Is this a mistake or is their something about babaus or assassins that I don't know?
Hmmm... yeah, he should have Medium armor proficiency. You can either just give that to him as a bonus feat, or you can swap out one of his feats for it.

Trace Coburn |

Huh. Call me slow, but I just realised something. For Forgotten Realms fans who remember the cute bundles of ‘happy fun stuff’ known as the Draegloth, applying the half-Glabrezu template to a drow character would let you approximate them under PFRPG rules. }:) It’d even fit in with the Golarion drow being so fervent about venerating demon lords and consorting with their minions....

Canadian Bakka |

I have a question about Mangvhune (that has nothing to do with his armour proficiency): where does the feat Babau Sneak Attack come from? Was it actually supposed to be Babau Rogue Talent (bleeding attack) since he is listed as having the rogue talent (bleeding attack) despite not having an actual rogue class (and the assassin prestige class does not grant any rogue talent)? This would make sense since he is also listed as having the feat Flensing Strike (which requires the bleeding sneak attack rogue talent or the bleed universal monster ability).
I think I'm correct but it is nice to make sure I did not overlook something.
CB out.

Oh... poop. That's a typo. " Babau Sneak Attack" is actually "Babau Rogue Talent." Looks like those names had some tinkering/changing during development or editing or something and the changes weren't 100% synched up.

I love all of these variant half-fiend templates. It can give villains a much-needed power boost as well as making them more memorable and unqiue. Assassin or cleric loyal to Nocticula? Half-invidiak or half-succubus. Digusting enemy alchemist formulating a plague in an abandoned swampland? Half-hezrou. Need a BBEG? The half-balor template even points out that "they are often generals, rulers, or archvillains of the highest magnitude."

Yeah, the half-fiend templates are great. I used the half-succubus template when converting over Tyralandi, the half-fiend nymph thrall of Graz'zt from the Savage Tide adventure path, and what a beast she became. Using the base stats for a nymph, add in the stat boosts for a heroic npc, and then the half-succubus template...her Charisma was insane at 39. I'm using Demons Revisited as much as possible for my Savage Tide conversion to PFRPG, it is full of demons and other evil outsiders. Mwah hah hah hah! >:D
CB out.

Berselius |

Hmmm...so if Paizo ends up doing Devils Revisited then I'm guessing we'd only get 10 devils huh? Well, if I had to select 10 of then, I'd go with these guys I guess (pretty much all of them are from the Bestiaries and I'm guessing that probably means their considered non-Golarion specific).
Devil, Bone (Osyluth)
Devil, Fury (Erinyes)
Devil, Horned (Cornugon)
Devil, Ice (Gelugon)
Devil, Pit Fiend (Maleficarum)
Devil, Belier (Bdellavritra)
Devil, Handmaiden (Gylou)
Devil, Immolation (Puragaus)
Devil, Contract (Phistophilus)
Devil, Nemesis (Advodaza)
It's a pity we only get 10 choices to choose from but who knows as maybe Paizo will include a higher number next time? Either way, if we do get a Devils Revisited, I'd better get a Half-Erinyes template or I'm gonna be one grumpy dragon!

Berselius |

Unleashed books replaced them probably
I'd like Daemons Revisited or Fiends Unleashed, already have enough devils
We didn't really get any NEW Demons in Demons Revisited. We just got detailed fluff on 10 specific types of demons (as well as a stated-example of each of those types of demon [usually with class / prestige class levels] and also a demonic variant of the half-fiend template for that specific type of demon).
I'd imagine a revisited Manual for Devils, Daemons, or other fiends (aka Asuras, Divs, etc etc) would be kind of the same as what Paizo did with Demons Revisited. I would however like to see a Celestials Revisited though (I seriously don't think good outsiders get enough love ya knows)?
