I figure this is as good place as any to post my now obsolete findings a few months ago on "Can there be other non-human half heritages".

"I did some detective work to find out the exact reasons of the existence of Human-Elf and Human-Orc Hybrids, but Hybrids of other Ancestries.

It’s worth noting that when I’m talking about Hybrids, I mean mixed races born by conventional mundane means, and not creatures who come more from Outsider/Supernatural influence such as Aasimar, Tieflings, Changelings, Oreads and many others. These could be more easily compared to Vampirism, which can affect most Ancestries.

Lord of the Rings had Half-Elves, and to a lesser degree Half-Orcs (albeit produced by magical means similar to how Uruk-Hai were made).
When D&D became a thing, players wanted to play as Half-Elves and Orcs. Since Orcs were an innately villainous, the Half-Orc was popularized to give the players an option to play an Orc-like character without necessarily playing villains.
So the tldr and TRUE reason why Half-Elves and Half-Orcs are a thing, but other hybrids aren’t is because Tolkien did it and D&D is heavily based/inspired in Lord of the Rings.

Now, if we start looking at in-universe reasons we know the following.
The PF1 book “Bastards of Golarion” confirms that hybrids other than Half-Elves and Half-Orcs are “all but unheard of on Golarion”. It lists biological incompatibility as the reason. It does mention however that these Hybrids could happen as the result of powerful magic such as a Wish Spell, but strictly speaking, by mundane means, they do not happen.
The book also confirms the existence of “Influence of Outsiders” causing creatures such as Dwarf Aasimars and Gnome Tieflings. So the Outsiders Versatile Heritage concept was already existent in the Lore and just hadn’t really made it into the mechanics of the game due to PF1 being a revised version of D&D 3.5, something they corrected when they moved into PF2.

The main theory on why Humans are able to breed comes with Aboleths.
Ancient Alghollthu wall carvings claim Aboleths are responsible for humanity’s creation. They would have been created as an adaptable slave race. When the ancient Azlanti came close to discover this, the Aboleths tried to wipe the slate clean and start all over by triggering Earthfall.
It can be speculated that Humans are adaptable genetically because the aboleth experiment was left unfinished. They just happen to be compatible with Orcs and Elves “because reasons”. Maybe the Aboleths took some notes by looking at those two ancestries when creating humans. But that’s entirely someone’s guess and falls into the fan theory territory to explain a real world reason for why we have Half-Elves and Half-Orcs.

With all that said, it’s still entirely the prerogative of any GM to modify the lore of their world as they see fit.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk."

From Bastards of Golarion:
Although humans can have children with
many other races, there are limits to this gift.
Half-dwarves, half-gnomes, half-halflings,
and numerous other combinations are
all but unheard of on Golarion. Biological
incompatibility is the first and foremost
reason that such half-races cannot exist.
Simply put, dwarves, gnomes, and others
just aren't compatible with other races,
even humans.
In a realm shrouded in magic, it would
be foolish to assume no spell in the known
multiverse could produce a viable child
between a dwarf and a humanoid of
another race. Indeed, dwarven aasimars
and gnome tieflings are known to exist,
arising through the influence of outsiders or
because of magical anomalies understood
by few. A miracle or wish spell
could likewise result in the birth
of a half-dwarf, though the
individuals able or
willing to practice
such spellcraft
are few and
far between.

Just to clarify.
Warden spells now scaling up to master doesn't mean all Rangers will go back to having spells, right?

We can still build a fully martial, no magic Ranger?

AWESOME!

I'll probably still wait a year for the hardcover version but I'm very happy to see this line isn't abandoned.

How will this differentiate from the previous PF1 version?

Really like the change to changes, it will enable a much more fluid and adaptable system. Specially for you're also making changes to APs and Lost Omens, which earlier ones had many errors that needed fixing.

I'm sure some people will not be happy with the ability score changes to ancestries, but you can still just say that's not how it works at your table and problem solved.

Man, this looks incredible. And my character is actually from Absalom too, so I'd love it.

Unfortunately that price tag is way more than what I can justify spending on a book. I'm sure you get your money's worth, but dang... that's pricey.

I'll probably get on board for the PF3 version of this. If it comes out at launch.
2 years is too late for those of us who've been buying the material already.

The interface looks fantastic. But I see them having an uphill battle.

The fact is D&D Beyond works because there's no other free options.

There's a lot of great options available for PF2 already, and we have all the actual content available for free on AoN.

For character building we have Pathbuilder and Wanderer's Guide.
And while it seems Nexus has a much nicer interface and a few other options, I don't see that many people willing to pay (likely) hardcover price just to get art on their character builder.
Also, Pathbuilder still has plans for Connecting sheets into a single session so the GM can manage equipment, loot, conditions, etc.

Speaking of which, HeroLab Online already does many of the things Nexus does, at probably a very similar price, and it's one of the least used Character managers due to its hefty entry price point.
Seems to target the same audience (ones willing to pay a lot of money for convenience) and I don't see any of them switching over if they need to buy the whole thing again.

Then you have Foundry, Which for $50 one time buy (often on discount) you can access everything freely and have a really great character manager. Albeit without the ease of accessing it on a tablet or phone.

With that said, it does look awesome. And I wish it had an easier entry point.
But unless it was priced at PDF price and not Hardcover, and include the PDF, then it's a hard pass for me. I'm already buying all Hardcovers as is.
And I'd need to convince the other players at my table to buy into it if I wanted to connect our sheets? That definitely wouldn't happen.

I am obsessed, so I made some Invoices for the repair of Citadel Altaerein in Book 2.

It helps me keep track of repairs and payments but mostly made them for fun.

Maybe they'll be useful to someone else.

We've had lots of ups and downs. The Cleric in the game I described above turned out to be one of the worst players ever.

We continued the campaign as a Homebrew in Sandpoint. We were playing pretty regularly until I went on vacation. I made a story for Valeros being absent for a while, but turns out they never played when I was gone, and when I got back the GM never wanted to play, so that campaign died there.

Then Cleric wanted to GM. So we all made characters, but he never prepared anything, so we ended up using those characters in a new Homebrew campaign made by the original GM, Introduced a new player I had never met who's now a very close friend and I'm the Godfather of his new daughter.
This campaign took place in the Land of the Linnorm Kings and was pretty awesome.
We played it up to level 7, and then again it became very hard to get the GM to actually set up games and it died off.
I decided to try my hand at GMing.

I GMed Hollow's Last Hope, which went absolutely terrible. I was a little late and two of the players had started drinking. Worst game I've ever played and I almost quit GMing right then and there, but we finished it.
I then ran Rise of the Runelords, but only got to Book 2. This was the last time I played with the guy who played the Cleric in the Beginner Box... he was just awful. I also introduced a new player who was also pretty terrible for more personal out of character reasons.

After that it was mostly on and off one offs. We tried to play Mummy's Mask with the original GM, but in true fashion, she never called us for a second game.

The original player who played Ezren and I started dating and have been together for just under 5 years now (she's also the Godmother of that baby I mentioned earlier), she tried to GM Crypt of the everflame for an entirely new group. And was an amazing GM when she actually prepared. But must have kind of lost interest after two sessions because she ended up just going to the games to hang out and the story never moved forward.

I started GMing Dragon's Demand for some of those players, but only got to chapter 2.

Then PF2 released and I was ready to make the jump.
I had met a new guy who's heavily into TTRPGs and had been looking for a game to join for literal years.
Since I was bored of being the GM, he agreed to GM Age of Ashes for me and the other friend (the one who's daughter is my Goddaughter) since we were the more hardcore players.

The game was usually great until alcohol got involved, but it was still fine. When COVID hit the game got put on hold, and the other player lost interest even though we tried to keep playing in Tabletop Simulator. We finished Book 1.

After a bit when some restrictions started lifting I GMed Fall of Plaguestone for a new group, the GM of AoA and my Girlfriend.
This is the first campaign I actually ever finished.
We've now moved their characters into the AoA book2 campaign and have been playing that regularily.

So yeah, not still the Beginner Box :P

This is really great news.
I'm convinced FoundryVTT is the best way to play PF2 right now. The developers over on discord have done an incredible job and it just keeps getting better and better.

What I'd like to see:

Portraits and token packs for Bestiary and Adventure creatures. Pretty much the same as those available as Pawns.

Some sort of package deal when you buy PDFs to include FoundryVTT assets as well, at the very least a discount when purchasing both the PDF and the FoundryVTT assets.

Thank you!

The Devs are usually very active at answering rules specific questions and clarifying print errors before an official errata is released.

The problem I've found is sometimes these answers are hidden withing pages and pages of posts and comments and are not easily accessible.

So I'm putting together a list of clarifications, comments or fixes that the Devs have addressed at some point, so that it can be compiled in a sort of FAQ.
Nanmaniac from pf2.easytool.es has also agreed to add them to his site once we've compiled enough.
So for example, if you go to Sun Blade, it will specify that the text is wrong, and on a failure it does not deal full damage like the CRB says, because Mark Seifter clarified it here https://paizo.com/threads/rzs42t39?Sun-Blade-Confusion#7

So, if any of you know of more clarifications, either in forums or blogs, please post them below and I'll add them to the list.
Here's the list, but you might need to request access if you want to edit it yourselves.

I kept the Uncommon items to the side. but apparently the rules in the upcomming GMG say that uncommon items of up to two level below the settlement level would be available.

I added some Percentage Tables to roll for higher level items that I think are fun and not terribly unbalanced.

I spread out some items among the temples and such to make it a bit more interesting.

No idea how to differentiate Posandi Bros. from Tuskhead Stoneworking.

Resonance is a major mechanic though. I'm not sure they'd be able to add it in later as an optional rule.
If I look at Unchained, it had some fantastic optional rules that were usually not taken into consideration because it had come out later.

I do like this. Half races shouldn't be races of their own.
With that said, I do think Half-Elves should be an option for elves too.
I wonder if in the future it will be similar with other classes such as Tiefling and Aasimar, and if it will open the doors to other half races.

I keep them in their cardboard put them in binder sheets like this
Pawns in Binders

If it's a Box one I just photocopy the cover and backside and slip it into the binder. If it's not a Box I'll actually cut the sheet they come in.

To actually find a pawn, I keep this sheet updated and just CTRL-F to see what set the pawn is in and whether I have that set or not.

Hi all,

First off, if this isn't the right board to post in, please let me know and I'll move it to the more appropriate one.

A while ago I found a Product Checklist by Junius Galio, but it was very outdated (2011) and as a collector I really wanted one that was up to date.
After looking around with no luck I decided to make my own.

It's still not 100% done, I'm missing Pathfinder Legends and Pathfinder Comics, but it should still be use-able. There's also some formatting here and there that I'll likely get to with time. Also, the release dates are just a rough estimate and are a bit of a mess. But I'm not sure I care enough to fix it.

All entries have a link to the product on the Paizo.com website and if available the link to the PathfinderWiki article.

If you have any feedback on what I should add, or if there's anything wrong please let me know so I can fix it up!

Enjoy!

Building my level 7 Tiefling Slayer. My favorite Character so far, so I'm looking for some feedback.
She's build as a ranged combatant, but because she's Oni Spawn and has a decent STR score she is often fighting in melee with a crazy Axe the DM dropped, which has worked well even if I have no feats to use with it.

Was thinking of maybe taking Vital Strike instead of Improved Initiative, since I can benefit from it in both Range and Melee.

What do you think!?

STR DEX CON INT WIS CHA
17 18 12 10 14 5

Feats:
Level 1 Feat General Point-Blank Shot
Level 3 Feat General Rapid Shot
Level 5 Feat General Reckless Aim
Level 7 Feat General Improved Initiative

Class Options:
Slayer Talent 2: Trapfinding
Slayer Talent 4: Ranger Combat Style Feat 1

Hi All,
I just started playing the Pathfinder starter Box on Sunday with some friends and had so much fun I wanted to share our experience through the dungeon.
It was a party of three plus the GM. We all used the Heroic characters that came pre made in the box.
Ezren the Wizard, Kyra the Cleric and Valeros the fighter (me).
So we approached the cave and I decided to inspect the Statue, both me and Kyra saw nothing out of the ordinary, but Ezren noticed the acid marks on it. Then the two Goblins attacked! Since Kyra was bending over inspecting the statue, she got stabbed in the ass, Ezren tried waking the other on the head with a stick. This was great because my friend Meg who was running Ezren was making old people jokes the whole time, I think this one mentioned whippersnapper or something. Valeros rushed at the first goblin and turned it into mush with one strike, and after the next round did the same with the other. I took the two lizards they were carrying... you never know.
We walked into the cave and inspected the sleeping straw. Kyra found the chest's key while Valeros kept guard of the hall. In the next room we all put money in the well and got some decent buffs. Valeros, being wary of the voices stood guard in the corridor while the other two checked the room with the gem and the strange light. We all discussed and agreed that we should avoid the red room as it seemed like a trap and our mission was to take on Black Fang. We decided to have another look at it on our way back.
I peaked around the corner to see Goblins arguing with each other. We decided that rushing them was a bad idea as we could not see if there was more of them, so we decided to lure them into the hallway as to fight them all one on one. Valeros shot an arrow at the closest Goblin and hit him in the ear, cutting it off. But the Goblin did not attack, it looked confused and hailed us to come. We heard a voice in broken common saying "come heres, wes got sweet deals for yous!" Not being ready to trust a bunch of Goblins, I shouted back that they should come here... when they refused, I gave them a warning shot of my short bow. This pissed them off and made them attack.
Valeros was holding them off extremely effectively in the hall, so Kyra got bored and decided to lean against the wall. It was going smoothly until King Ratmouth used a fear spell on Valeros, (I rolled a 1 on the resistance to it) making him run away towards the entrance of the cave. This is when s#%# hit the fan. The goblins started pouring in and hit Ezren for some heavy damage. Kyra used an AOE heal which grew back the ear of the goblin. The goblins eventually killed Ezren, making him fall into the fountain.
Once Valeros was back to his senses he rushed back and started killing the Goblins, all but king Ratmouth which we forced to surrender.
In exchange for his life we took all his treasure, got information that Blackfang was a Dragon and where to find it, also that the water nearby was "bad water" and that when his subjects ever went into the room with the ruby they would "go poof!".
We let him go and decided to head straight to Black Fang as this was what we were hired for. I used my grappling hook to get up the wall, we saw the skelletons but avoided their detection... until Ezren came up and dropped some rocks, making the three skelletons attack!
The successfully killed Ezren and then Kyra and Valeros managed to finish them off. We revived Ezren and continued on our way. After a bit of sneaking we managed to see Black Fang and avoid his detection. And then for some reason I attribute to old age, Ezren decided to start telling us his backstory, he just started blabbing away until Black Fang heard us. He approached and told us to come out, I decided to try and talk our way through this since he was bigger than I expected. I tried to persuade him to make his lair somewhere else. He laughed it off and said he found us puny. I told him that if he did kill us, the town would just send more people to take him on I almost convinced him but I lost a diplomacy roll. For some reason I was the one doing all the talking even though I had the lowest diplomacy skill...
He decided to attack. I jumped down from the stairs and slashed down at him, butdid no damage to his scales. We fought at the bottom for a while as Ezren used magic on him and Kyra used buffs. When Ezren did a lot of damage he pulled his attention and shot acid at him, killing him in one strike. Kyra dragged Ezren's body away while I held him off, but he managed to get a bite in and almost killed me with one hit, so I started backing off up the stairs. Once at the top, Kyra started healing me and I landed some good hits in, so we decided to stay there a bit before retreating. We ended up in a bit of a stalemate, no one dealing damage to either. Kyra got bored and started leaning on the wall, and eventually Black Fang got bored and decided to fly away.
Mission complete! We gathered the loot and started making our way out, but taking the opposite hall. At the water, since I had the highest swimming skill I decided to check the chest myself. We checked the chest for magic but forgot to look into the water, so when I started swimming I got attacked by that horrible reef thing. I tried to swim back to the shore, but he got me with a claw and I could not move! Valeros almost died, but Kyra and Ezren managed to kill the beats before that happened. After a heal we continued to the statue... none of us could see anything on it except for a cryptic message about water.
When we got to the room with the spider webs, we all noticed the webs were large and may have been made by a larger creature. Ezren noped right the hell away from there... I lit a torch and threw it at the webs... but since they didn't all ignite as I hoped, I just lit another and started burning them one at a time. We opened the chest as I held guard with 3 webs still remaining. Kyra decided to check the room with the altar now, and after hearing the warning "APPROACH WITH HUMILITY AND LIVE" or something like that. I told him to stop and gave him one f my lizards, telling him to throw one at the altar. He did and everything lit up. But when the fire vanished we noticed the lizard was still unburnt. He decided to crawl and managed to effectively pick up the ruby.
They both crawled their way to the room with the fountain and made their way to the entrance... but Valeros wanted to see what the spider was about. He backed off into the room with the trap and shot arrows at the remaining webs, successfully drawing out the giant spider. Valeros rushed back and crawled under the trap and waited for the spider. As it approached he threw his second lizard onto the trap and activated it, killing the spider. Mission complete!!
I know we being noobs probably took a lot of liberties on the mechanics, but this was honestly a really good time.
With that, I have a few simple questions that I'm sure have been answered plenty, but the amount of info out there is a bit overwhelming so I'm going to ask some specific ones here.
What are some good technological aids that are considered must haves? I tried some apps for character sheets for my phone. I found Pathfinder CS which I'm not sure I understand 100%. Hero Lab looks great but you have to buy the PC one which is 30 bucks. If it's the best thing around I may consider it. For now I'm using mod neceros pathfinder character sheet and it seems good. There's also some online table sheets and stuff so just wonder what you all find a must have.
Thanks for reading!
