A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–4 (Subtiers 1–2 and 3–4).

The Whispering Tyrant has escaped Gallowspire and ravaged the lands of Lastwall. Although the nation managed to evacuate many civilians, there are still refugees, Pathfinders, and irreplaceable cultural treasures trapped in this undead-ridden realm known as the Gravelands. The PCs are part of the Society's efforts to infiltrate these dangerous lands, rescue the Pathfinders missing in action, and recover what historical texts and treasures they can. Just be quick! Every hour behind enemy lines increases the chance a nearby army learns of the PCs' mission.

Good but long winded

4/5

I played this past weekend. This scenario is unique in that to do it well and not fight a very hard boss battle in the end; you had to go against natural Pathefinder instincts and split up the party to save time. My group a play with actually did that and the boss battle was easier because we did that. Star knocked down for how long it took us to complete the mission in real time because how long winded it was.

Fun, but with an issue

3/5

This scenario was great fun. I would say I had tons of fun in the beginning and middle parts of the scenario. I do like there's a scenario where tons of skills come into play, although the skill section dragged a little. I would say that is a very minor criticism though... I'd love more sections like that.

The reason for the 3 stars is that it's too difficult. I don't think such an early scenario in the life of a new system should be this difficult. That's what knocked 2 stars off of this.

Interesting story

4/5

This was a fun scenario, and with a balanced party this is not nearly the part killer some earlier reviews suggested. The party does need to be able to pass multiple types of skill checks, but that has been a theme in PFS for the past few years. Playing with a party of six L1 characters, we recovered all treasure bundles and nobody reached the Dying 1 condition.

5/5

Interesting Premise and a Tough Fight

4/5

I played this one at GenCon and really enjoyed it; one of the most fun scenarios I've played in PFS. The premise of "going behind enemy lines" felt interesting and exciting. The way the first combat evolved was fun and gave us all a chance to do interesting things with the new action economy. Searching for lost Pathfinder bodies, hoping to find someone still alive, finding fallen heroes with destroyed undead about them... I found the exploration parts of the scenario to be very evocative and engaging. The final fight was a real challenge that put several of us on the dying track, which made it all the more satisfying to come out on top. I enjoyed this one much more than Absalom Initiation and would even play it again.

Thanks Micheal!
I'm running this a couple of times at GENCON. It's nice to get a head start on prep/organizing!

There is not.

Do we get credit as a GM only once for the scenario? (I ran it four times and really enjoyed it.)

As it does not have the repeatable tag then we can only take credit once without some form of legal replay to use. I had fun running it several times at Gen Con and will be running it several more times in the near future.

The Zombie Shambler on page 26 is listed as a large creature while the bestiary has it as medium. It's also missing the undead trait.
