It's great. Another path is gatekeeper. They defend the world from those who gave in to mindless destruction with the same tools. An Inquisitor will often partner up with one. Now that I have taken up a position of a nature god of Autumn, that's the kind of character I endorse. Out with the trash to make more room for new growth.
Let me get back into character. "I am the lord of rot, decay, and especially worms! Muhahahaha!" alignment: 1d3 ⇒ 21d3 ⇒ 1 NG(May be fun to corrupt this place)
Cross Road Ville
b]Population[/b] 2000 people (1000 human, 100 each half-elf, elf, half orc, dwarf, gnome, gnome, Halfling, 300 other)
Fire guard. Typical member is a human, 2nd level warrior, NG, (but any willing and able can do this) with abundant torches and flasks of oil. Usually 4 watching the dungeon entrance. Slash, Hobgoblin ambassador. 2nd level expert, 3rd level spy, and LE. He is collecting info on the other kingdoms. +4 gather information if you trade rumors with him. He sent some other adventurers into The Death Pit(name of dungeon) with a mirror of entrapment. If anyone can bring it back to him, he will reward them with gps and items double the mirrors worth.(It’s about half full of worm riddled zombies, basically to weaponized them). (Most of the Pathfinder chapter houses want it even more for multiple reasons) Marketplace +60%
The death pit is the main reason a town with such a cheery(yuk) location hasn't grown bigger.
Let me try this. alignment: 1d3 ⇒ 21d3 ⇒ 1 NG(May be fun to corrupt this place)
The church also makes, and donates a few to law enforcement, scarfs of speak with dead. Scarf of Speak with Dead.
When this scarf is placed around the neck of the recently dead, and they otherwise qualify for the spell, they can answer questions, as per the spell. It is made by the 10th level high priest so that's 5 questions. The minimum would be 5th level and that would be only 2 questions. The deceased can pick and choose who it takes questions from, as the scarf is providing the magic. Note that as soon as the last question is answered, it becomes a normal corpse again(for at least a week). 3rd level cleric spell, caster 10. Use activated. 60,000 GPV The cheaper variety costs 30,000 for only 2 questions.
So the hidden church of the Wormlord might have to "support" quite a few officials. If we sell any scrolls of animate dead or create undead, we should ask to see a believable license. Maybe provide a scarf of speak with dead or 2 to the watch investigators. Scarf of Speak with Dead.

35. The Church of the Wormlord. Recognizable only by the woodworm riddled door, it looks and even serves as a flophouse and soup kitchen. The church is in the cellar and subcellers. Resources-If you can find the church of The Wormlord, they have scrolls of animate dead for sale. The 50% markup they call an offering. You can special order non-good scrolls because they have a litch that mostly pens scrolls and does disturbing experiments.
Polymorphic Symbiotic Worms. They replace and eat failing organs and tissues causing a kind of immortality. As soon as the brain fails they turn chaotic evil. They are a swarm and thus parts already replaced are immune to most weapons. In a case of a plague, almost everybody will go along with becoming hosts.
570:The Joy of Necromancy! By Negis Domomus.
Greater speak with dead. 4 levels higher and only requires a small piece of the deceased. It calls up the spirit who tells what they know and suggests dire outcomes.
A drawback, like creating undead and tainting alignment, would give you a power level discount. A full fledged curse might make it free. I'm thinking of creating a scythe that slays living and then turns them into worm riddled corpses. I would send it to mortals I want to mess with. Worm infested corpses
Other gods could gift weapons that power up when you feed starving bums or heal lepers. Whatever that deity is into.
Worm infested corpses
Even better! The next round after they die they rise as if affected by a create undead spell. I mean the creature killed by the weapon ability, but how cool would it be if it also turns it's owner into an undead if they die any day they used the weapon power? I was originally thinking all the undead they create would be following the guy seeking revenge.
Maggots with the mutant ability to animate dead would use the same stats as my worm infested corpses. It's a zombie with an extra hit dice. It can infest anything in an adjacent square. Reflex save DC16 if alive(a corpse is automatically infested). The target of infestation has it's con. bonus in rounds before the maggot reaches the brain or heart before they die and get animated. Unfortunately for my little worms, they can be killed during the first round of trying to infest by burning oil, cure disease, or possibly other methods. (I've made some changes. If you are playing 4th or 5th ed. you can use the original material Orig Son of.. ) |
