*stage whisper* Hsst! Now's the part where you submit a song for the next poster!

Oops, somehow missed that part of the game

Scarab Sages

Calistria, for all kinds of reasons - the lyrics, the colors, the clothes, the attitude, the blasphemous comedy of "toying" with monks, even the buzzing sounds.

Attribute this tune!

I think I'm gonna go Zon-Kuthon. It comes across as fairly ominous. Gorum would be my next choice, maybe.

Let's go here next.

The Exchange

Honestly, I want to say Aroden during the precise moment of his fall. No reasoning other than that was the imagery in my head, the song was playing as he smiled and left the fate of the world to it's inhabitants.

Now here's one for you. Rise Up

Urgathoa, clearly. Who else is going to be raising up an army of stillborn children? :)

Next up, here.

A song about death and powerlessness in the face of fate. I would be inclined to say Pharasma.

Hopefully this one isn't too strange

Liberty's Edge

Hm. This is tricky. I'm gonna go with Caiden Cailean. It has a very raunchy feel I like, and...yeah that's it.

Try this one on for size

Scarab Sages

I'm settling on Norgorber - talk of not really being here, opulent apartments and what sound like references to Washington, D.C. make it sort of sound like it's about some kind of spy, and the song evokes colors that seem to suit Him, besides.

Next up on the itinerary....

Liberty's Edge

Erastil. I've always associated him with Vikings for some reason, and this says Viking/Celtic to me. That and the flute, which I identify with agricultural towns.

How about this one?

Sovereign Court

A tricky one! Despite the lyrics being about someone who can't escape a relationship with and abusive lover, I couldn't help but think of my Shelyn. As she knows it would be better to blast me out existence, but she can't as she still has love in immortal heart for me her dear brother. How touching! And how great it's gonna be when I rip it out of her! *Cue evil and inhuman laugh.*

Gonna make a little easier for you now:

1. Fallen Angels

2. Rebel Love Song

Both songs are by Black Veil Brides.

The idea of placing being yourself ahead of being perfect, and of willingly "falling" so you may do so, goes reasonably well with Urgathoa.

Next: What I remember as the Warlock Theme.

"I'll take it"

Go to The Thriller..

Hmmm...I don't believe Kyuss is a Pathfinder deity, if that's what you mean...just to be clear, when we say "Pathfinder gods," we mean the Golarion setting pantheon. Which of those would you peg it to, if only for the sake of argument?

Hasbro may have the rights to the names "Kyuss" and "Sons of Kyuss" but my version of The Wormlord can be introduced.

For the sake of argument, Zon Kuthon. He can let his clerics create Worm Riddled Corpses.

Nobody could possibly do dancing zombies and undead lovers better than Urgathoa.

Alright, let's get this Kasbah rockin' again, because Everything You Know Is Wrong!

How about a hymn to Dhalavei, as sung by Sun Wukong?

Here's an easy one.

Shadow Lodge

Gorum, because of the pure warriorness and badassery of the song.

Blank Space

Scarab Sages

Maybe it's the music video more than the lyrics, but that, at least, seemed to scream Abadar at me - also, "I've got a blank space, and I'll write your name" does kind of sound like you're equating true love with writing a check or something.

Mind that left turn, because we're going to Albuquerque!

Liberty's Edge

Long shot: Narriseminek the Crownless, The Maker of Kings, because that song would only make sense to a protean.

A completely different city (and style): Chicago. (And don't guess Desna just because the brass players have butterfly wings on. No, I don't understand it, either.)

Scarab Sages

I'm actually going to say Asmodeus - it kind of sounds like a hymn to free will that's actually a backhanded attack against it.

Aaaand we're BACK! Let's find a god for Hungarian Dance No. 5!

That's easy! Besmara.
Sounds exactly like something Edward Kenway would have playing every time he was on his ship, or was exchanging cannon fire with Spanish galleons, or walking down a slightly longer than usual hallway.
Perfect pirate song.

Now, for an interesting challenge, try this one on, and no, Norgorber isn't an option.

Well, he is the God of secrets, isn't he?

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Wouldn't be Norgie, anyway, since the (dreadful) song is about giving secrets away, something he'd never do.

A well-intended set of lies meant to protect someone from a frankly ugly truth finally being discarded for the right person?

In a black-hearted, backhanded fashion, Gyronna.

"Oh, well, since you put it THAT way, here's what's going to happen to YOU."

Next: A Quick Death in Texas

Shadow Lodge

Groetus, because of the themes of wishing for death and the uselessness of divine protection.

How about this song

Scarab Sages

An upbeat salsa hymn to desire, eternal youth, and eternal darkness? If that isn't Urgathoa all the way, I hardly know what is!

Back on the air, and now we continue with: The Tower.

Shadow Lodge

Abadar. It's a tune that sounds good in the background of a fully armored troop marching forward and conquering.

Bonus points for a deity not associated with hell in any way

Scarab Sages

You know what? I could totally see him as a mask for Nyarlathotep!

Speaking of weirdo swamp cities: The Fortress.

Sounds like a fun adventure filled song. Cayden Cailean?

Apologies if there's rules about what sort of song you're meant to pick, I'm just jumping in because I'm bored... So...

Pneumothorax - Blueneck

Scarab Sages

Trelmarixian, Horseman of Famine - Dude, that is BLEAK. Then there's the image of the desolate field, and that inset image that looks like a weird horrible bug, and the...voice...is...so...weak.

No, no rules on what music to pick (no LCD crap would be nice, though). :)

As with two posts above, the challenge is to find an association unassociated in any way with Hell/devils/LE, 'cause now we've got: The Inferno.

Heh, yeah, it is a pretty bleak song. Blueneck fall into Post-Rock, but unlike most bands in the genre they use vocals fairly regularly, but they're never the focus of the song, instead they're just another instrument helps build the atmosphere they're going for. That song's my sleeping song at the moment, I can't shut off my brain without it playing. Pretty much everything they release is great though, can't recommend their albums Repetitions and The Fallen Host enough. FYI, the cover image isn't actually a bug. I thought it was at first as well. Close up version here: Repetitions cover

As for Inferno Town theme... Hmmm... If we're expanding beyond the core pantheon into some of the weirder ones... The Lost Prince. I've always seen him as a bit of an ominous being. Not evil, but I think the sense of dread the song is going for works for him.

No challenge for this one, I'm just curious to see who you associate it with. More post-rock, but it's old school. Clashing instruments, all about the contrasts between the extremes of soft and hard, quiet and loud.

We're No Here - Mogwai

Shadow Lodge

Szuriel, because intimidating resonating sound followed by calm seems perfect for a twisted agent of battlefield death

The Man Who Sold The World

Scarab Sages

I'm going with Count Ranalc of the Eldest - it's surreal and shadowy, and Count Ranalc is known for having either mysteriously disappeared, or been exiled (sort of similar to treachery/"selling the world") but maybe showing up somewhere else (some say He's Nex, for instance).

The Necropolis - try to link it to someone for reasons OTHER than death/the undead/darkness, of course.

Nethys. Dunno, something about the music itself, plus the feeling that Nethys would sell the world for more magic power and knowledge... and the black and white picture.

Angel Meat (It's gloomy, beware if you're particularly sensitive about this.)

Scarab Sages

The Oinodaemon - Jesus Christ, that's creepy!

Let's try this again: The Necropolis - try to link it to someone for reasons OTHER than death/the undead/darkness.

Abadar...just made me think of the dark side of cities...

Can not link...but this one should be easy to find..

Beethoven's 9th 'Ode to Joy'

Everything in that song screams Shelyn to me.

Don't Say a Word

Scarab Sages

That's actually a good fit for Zon-Kuthon - the 'spiky' music, and even more so, a lot of the lyrics ("Unfortunately, I am your god now")!

Next song: The Rampart. Try to avoid Gozreh or other "nature" deities.

Grand Lodge

Irori! From her new album: Songs to meditate to! Very calming.

Soldiers of the Wasteland, Dragonforce. (Album: Sonic Firestorm)

Also, how do you do that fancy thing where you make the link clickable?

All the references made me think of Gorum, that commitance to war.
Great song, BTW.

Only Everything- After Forever

I'd say this fits Sivanah the goddess of illusions, reflections, mystery and veils. Most of the lyrics reference these.

New song: Paradise - Within Temptation

Scarab Sages

1 person marked this as a favorite.

First of all: WOW! TheChelaxian, I hope you're still lurking in some capacity, because that music video was GREAT! I now honestly regret not bothering to check it out...y'know, sooner than nearly 2 full years later!

I'm going to give that one to the Golariverse's SUPREME force of defiance, hope, beauty, and heroism in the face of the oppressive and bleak: Ihys.

What better way for this thread to rise again, phoenix-like, than with: The Conflux!

Dark Archive

Necromancing the Thread, boiz

I'm going to give "The Conflux" to Abadar, god of civilization.

For the new song, let's roll with Within Tempation's Raise Your Banner

Scarab Sages

Milani - NO, too easy (and frankly, She comes off as kind of a weaksauce goddess of revolution, anyway)...let's go with Gorum. The song almost seems to have lost sight of whatever one's fighting for, or how it came to this. It's heroic nihilism. It's just fighting because there's no longer any logic in doing anything else. I suppose there's also the "steel-hued glory" aspect.

In keeping with the principle of that which can eternal lie not being truly dead, let's follow that super-recent song with literally the oldest ever - Hurrian Hymn No. 6!

Dark Archive

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I gotta give that to Nyarlathotep, herald of the Outer Gods of Pathfinder. His ancient influence in both the original Mythos and Pathfinder's lore could be subtly written beneath that ancient hymn.

(Milani is pretty weaksauce, ain't she?)

Now, 'tis the season, so how about I take a turn at a lyricless song and place Carol of the Bells for consideration?

Scarab Sages

GROETUS-CLAUS IS COMING TO EAT Y-No. No, let's try something different.
Tsukiyo, menacing yet heroic, crazed yet benevolent, riding determinedly through the night.

WE ARE BACK, BABY!!! Let's find us a Pathfinder deity who can measure up to the glory that is "Drebin Hero"!
