I cannot count the number of times I have over-detailed the non-given descriptors such as flora and fauna. It seems it is best to be generic when detailing unimportant things like ambience and the like while leaving the details for something worth following. -Posted with Wayfinder

Feel free to interact with each other as we await the start of the special.
PFS PbP Gameday IV - #6-97 Siege of Serpents I'll be running the special scenario Siege of Serpents for the 4th PbP Gameday. The game will run from November 5th to December 20th. This specific table will be a tier 7-8, which means that your character must be either 7th or 8th level. Given that there is no tier for lvl 9, I am willing to take a limited number of 9th level characters. Limited as in one or two. If you would prefer to play a different sub-tier, or if this fills up before you have a chance, please see the spreadsheet here for more options. Since this is a timed scenario ran across multiple tables, I will expect at least one post a day for each participant, in order to keep up with the other tables. Please post below with your applying character, including level and class. Please also make sure that the character you apply with will be available from November 5th to December 20th. Looking forward to running this one! Credit to GM Lithrac for the format of this post.

Male Humanoid (Human) GM 4
The hurdle I come across is most VO's will either handwave it with a "oh, you know, this and that" while others will avoid the question altogether. It's like they're sworn to secrecy, hahaha. I mean, there's the obvious adjudicate and arbitrate and be a reliable reference, and maintaining the community, but how deep does that go? Like I said, what goes on behind the curtain?

1) Complete chronicle sheet! Best part is it always applies to your character's level, regardless of whether you ran high or low sub-tier. If your character is out of tier, they get the out of tier gold and only the low sub-tier options for items and the like. 2) Yes, one character cannot have two sheets from the same scenario. You can, however, play it with another character. 3) I am not familiar with the Spire sheets, but it sounds like you can do either, as long as the character you are applying it to is within the level range of the sheet. 4) If you only have a table of 3 players, you will have to run the game playing a pre-generated character (likely Keira). Regardless, you will still only get one chronicle sheet for running the game. You cannot insert your own character to help out the party. 5) The only downside to applying GM credit to a PC is the fact that it is one more game which you cannot enjoy playing your character. Personally, this sometimes leads to me not making smart purchases (not having a cold iron weapon at level 7, for instance...). But if done properly, the only damage is not being able to play it as long since it'll level up through GM credit and not player credit.

I can certainly empathize with not saying race, class, level, role in introductions. For instance, I introduce Baldwyn as a hulking man with a long hammer. And also a reach weapon. Who cares whether I'm a fighter or a ranger with a certain combat style? Point is, I hit things till it don't move no mo'. Similarly, I introduce Quinn as a nimble kitsune who will dance around the fight and offer flanks for those who need it. Everyone makes a fuss asking if I'm a Dervish Dancer bard or fighter. I answer simply "I'm no bard, I just love the dance of it all." Then they get confused when I start casting spells and stuff. Why don't I just say I'm a dervish dancer bard? Because all anyone hears when you say the b-word is "BUFFS! INSPIRES! I WON'T DO ANY DAMAGE IN COMBAT!" Just like when someone says they're a cleric, everyone automatically thinks "HEALS! USELESS IN COMBAT! HEALS!!!" If it's in character and not overly crucial to the overall group dynamic, why must we introduce our characters with such descriptors? It's not like we're just saying "I'm a mysterious stranger that no one likes...". But if a gnome comes up and starts going on about fire, who cares if he's a wizard, sorcerer, magus, druid, or whatever. Point is, he's gonna burn stuff.
The following is based on my current knowledge and assumptions. If any is inaccurate, please enlighten me. I recently attained my 4th star and have since started wondering about getting the 10 specials required to qualify for that 5th star. That's when it hit me... The current specials which spring to mind are:
From recent happenings, I come to gather a few things: 1) Multi-table specials are infrequent, rare enough to not be relied on to attain a 5th star with. (Ironically, the two specials I have run were these.)
So our current 4- or 5-star exclusive is a scenario that most people have either already played or are afraid they'll lose a character. Perhaps this is filtered by the fact that I only just not got the 4th star as opposed to being around when it was first given x-EX status. However, as it stands, it seems to this one that a 4-star GM's ability to run specials is neutered to either Con's or the off chance a table of Bonekeep goes off. Best recommendation I can offer is to not continue offering the Bonekeeps as -EX substitutes and return to a preview scenario as was "Cyphermage Dilemma" and "Day of the Demon". Thoughts?
I really like this idea. Personally, I would like to see an individual printout for each faction, not just a chronicle sheet or boon. Something like a half of an 8.5x11" piece of paper with a fancy background and some style. Back when I played 4e Encounters, they would have little card stock rewards which went to players upon receiving enough reward points. They were fancy to look at, had a little art on them, and gave bonuses. It was a very tactile involvement. Having just another chronicle sheet to flip to seems a bit drab. Now I know the cost of printing and distributing cards like this would be astronomical, but at least offer it in the downloads so people can print them off on whatever paper medium they choose, whether it's standard printer paper, cardstock, or something more resilient as each player sees fit. Just my 2cp.

Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play, p. 38 wrote:
So yes, you still need a Paizo rep or VO to sign off on you. I think the hardest requirement that I personally will face is getting the 10 specials. I just hit 100 and I already have 2 specials. The downside is the end-of-season specials are few and far between and I don't see many opportunities to run the 4-star specials locally, especially since I believe right now it's Bonekeep lvl 1, which damn near everyone has already played.
It is absolutely true what these fine folk are saying: age matters not, maturity does. I have run tables with kids no older than 10 and they have sometimes come out as star players. I have also run tables with kids older than 30 and they have been rather problematic, from not participating to not paying attention to constantly derailing conversation to something out of game to shouting at other players that they're playing their characters wrong.
After many years of the Pathfinder Society constantly delving into the sewers beneath Absalom, Kaer Maga, and other cities, they have finally found a nest of ratfolk. These humanoid vermin, knowing full well the invasion already perpetrated by the Society, retaliate in such force that Amara Li must return from Goka to participate in the Year of the Rat. Pathfinder Society: Season 7
Of course, in any war there are always defectors. These ratfolk gladly offer their services and skills to rid the nest of the tyrannical rule which forces their people to violence. Oh, and did I mention their trained ninja warriors? Humanoid turtles who go to fight in the years just before they reach adulthood. (These turtles become the race boon for those who GM at least 8 games at Gen Con and kill at least one PC at each table while offering up the ashes of their character sheets to Brock and Compton.)
I really don't see the issue here. Having 5 stars has nothing to do with cons, and you earn stars to get a replay as it is. What's another 50 after you've earned 5 stars? I'm not aiming at you particularly, SCPR, but as you provided a frequency example, I'm gonna run with it. With that structure you provided, it took you 5 months to get to one star replay. It then took you and additional 10 months to get your second. It will then take you 15 months to get your third and almost another two years to get your fifth. At that point, you're already gaining one star (and therefore replay) every two years. Why should it be any less now that you would have then achieved 5-star status?
Personally, I'm all for a boon to renew GM stars. Have it be available to GM's who go to GenCon, PaizoCon (here in the States and abroad), local cons, and large game days, as well as maybe given to local VC's to give out at their discretion for upstanding behaviour or outstanding performance. I dunno, just throwing these ideas around.
You may change anything you wish free of charge until you play it one time after first level. After that, there are retraining rules in Ultimate Campaign. Going over it quickly, it looks like you can change the ability score increases from lvl 4, 8, 12, etc., but not the base score. It may be better just to create a new character, honestly. EDIT - Dammit, ninja'd by the Decemvirate...
A couple hours ago, I agreed to run this scenario tomorrow morning having not looked at it. What was I thinking?! There's so much stuff going on! .... It's brilliant! I can't wait! Just hope I can do it justice. As mentioned by wakedown, there were far too many errors from (assuming rushed) editing which made it difficult to read at first. Also, the format for the final encounter over two rooms was a little odd. At first I thought the second portion was omitted only to find it had its own section. Ah well. I am ashamed to say that I did not catch the Swim bit with the not-a-chase-scene. Re: Splitting the party and future revision/home game suggestions:
Perhaps a mechanic should be added where the party experiences the warning given; that splitting the party would make it very difficult. Raise the DCs in the chase scene by 2, 5, or even 10 depending on author/editor approval. And I would just have the same fight in both rooms; assassin and zombies each. They wanted to do it the hard way, so...
Thinking of it now, maybe have Jakti accompany one of the groups to make their fight easier. How to decide? Roll of the die? Can ponder that. Overall, I am very excited to run this in 8 hours after a little sleep. Very very VERY excited. I have not been this excited to run a scenario since Night March of Kalkamedes. Great job, Ser Juan!

Sadly no. As level 5 is not in either sub-tier 3-4 or 6-7, those two sub-tiers count as the "one away" from character level. Besides, how on earth would you figure the out of tier gold amount for a lvl 5 playing a 1-2? They're already getting the out of tier between two other sub-tiers!
Rainbow, Really there is no such thing as an illegal character sheet, at least to my knowledge. We have official ones, we have HeroLab ones, we have Bad-Ass Bandanna ones (form-fillable PDF!), we have Dyslexic Studios ones, we have the profiles here on Paizo.com, and more. As long as it has all of the information there, it's good. If you would like to make a character sheet on your character profiles here on the forums, I would recommend Dakcenturi's guide to creating character sheets for Play-by-Post.
My question is,
Every time a new player shows up, I hear everyone start suggesting this from additional resource X or that thing there from additional resource Y. It is perfectly possible to make a viable character from just the CRB, as my Seeker ranger can (very nearly) attest to. So why are we shoving Archives and PRD when we should be pointing to the CRB and the Guide?

This. I can't stand it when the front line fighter goes charging in, takes 20 points of damage, and has no way to heal himself. He expects everyone else to use their wand rather than offer his own. "Well, I can't use it, why should I have it?" I have at least once refused to use my wand or anything other than potions we found to heal a character like that. I'm sorry, but you need to have a means to heal yourself, ESPECIALLY if your character build is meant to take damage.
I have a character ready to play that certain set of scenarios, but can't recall what the prestige cost is for their own Lodge. Could you refresh my memory, please? Knight Captain Shahorn Milner of the Eagle Knights of Andoran awaits the day he can establish a lodge which has no location other than the wilderness of the sea. The lodge will be composed of a flotilla of ships, always travelling to bring freedom and justice to the shores, as well as transport Pathfinders on their missions.
I started off using a not-so-legally acquired copy of the Core Rule Book. I did not know about the online resources at the time, and those are much more useful (and legal, haha). Once I decided that Pathfinder was a good fit for me, I bought a book as soon as I was able. It is an investment, but most of us find it well worth it. In the end, you do need the book to play after you try it out and figure it's the right game for you. (And looking at Sir Morgan's post, you may not need to purchase it, haha). Don't worry. You're new. We all were at one point. Best of luck in your gaming!
If you are running games and applying GM credit, that is the perfect time to build those extravagant characters. They face no mortality at level 1 (or 2 if you progress them that far) and allow you to build them more advanced. Go for the fun builds. And personally, I think a 14 con is a bit excessive at early levels. You can always go with a belt to boost it and have a massive jump. I never put more than a 12 into Con, even on melee characters. Including my level 12 melee ranger. 14 is taking the focus from what you want, whether it be Cha or Wis. Not every character has to be a HP pool or a huge damage dealer. I would much rather play with a character that has CHARACTER
Aberrant, calling the President "the Prez" or the Pope "Popey" is not like interchanging DM and GM. It would be like calling the President the Prime Minister. Similar jobs, totally different countries with their own rules and guidelines. DM and GM? Similar jobs, totally different systems with their own rules and settings (based on the current structure of both. I think we can all agree that 4e/Next is vastly different than Pathfinder). I do find it funny, however, that you say the language changes and yet your verbiage does not...
